For note 5, I think 'because' should be 'before' in order for the sentence to make sense

The Impossible GoldenEye Speedrun Explained
...and then he quickly dispatches the guard.
The guard: uhh, agh, egh, oof, ugh, ah, unh, ouh, egh, ach, oof, ugh...
"Explosions don't make a noise as far as guards are concerned"
Well yeah, when literally everything explodes when shot, you tend to get used to explosions and ignore them.
I think these guys are the modern descendents of the guards from The Elder Scrolls lol.
[Soviet boomer voice]: "Back in my day computer was being built like tank. Soviet mainframe computer could take four boolets and not exploding, only after five boolets would exploding, just like T-54 medium tank. What's that? Computers not explode anymore? Kids these days are soft, they are of being spoiled by the excesses of capitalism."
"How'd you lose your leg?"
"I knocked a chair over while standing up."
false eyes don't need to be able to see.
The exploding old cardboard box is the greatest 😅
Thank you for putting together a TAS to help visualize the run! It made it really easy to follow along, especially with the top-down map recreations!
yes
The effort he puts in is amazing
TASes visualize EVERYTHING! Especially on a fight like THIS: th-cam.com/video/5LZrWRSwDHQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LQOKqyz8nUlVQj2l
I find the fact that the scientists *have* pistols to defend themselves with, but just refuse to use them unless already likely gravely injured very very funny
As reflective as it is, gold is actually a terrible substance to make an eye from. But Plexiglasseye just doesn't have the same ring to it.
It's also a terrible substance to make a gun from. As the most malleable metal, if the golden gun were made entirely from golden parts rather than just gold plated it would bend and warp after the first shot.
@@coachmcguirk6297 Good thing it's a one hit kill then, huh? Scaramanga must just carry a hundred or so in a carton.
Is it a good substance to make a finger from, though?
GoldEN, in which merely being goldplated suffices.
As for a golden eye, well, entirely of gold is useless. But it can defo be PART of an eye.
The visor astronauts use on their helmets to block sunlight is actually gold rolled so thin that one can see through it.
@@Showsni You want to know who did it right? Goldface. Green Lantern villain, whose weakness was the color yellow. Gold armor, gold faceplate, gold liquid gun to coat anything else. About as effective as one could be without powers, when facing one of the most powerful heroes.
Dang I can't believe you got THE Bismuth to do this kickass piano music for you, you should work with him more often!
He's a busy guy and not so easy to nail down, but it's always worth it whenever Bismuth collabs with Bismuth.
Accuracy: 71.6%
I don't know how to tell you, game, but I promise every shot went EXACTLY where he wanted it to.
The game is dumb and runs the calculations based on its requirements, not the runners
The accuracy is probably was just shots that hit the guards per all shots, and considering that the runner uses enviromental kills by shooting the terminals or explosive barrels, the game probably counted that as a miss.
there are definitely some misses
Every comment here missing the joke lmao
@@heszedjim9699seriously!
Thank you so much for making this great video! You commented very well on all the key moments of my run. You really did a good work.
It's awesome that you highlight the DLTK mode. It's not very popular, but I find the DLTK (and LTK) speedruns to be just as impressive as the normal mode speedruns (A, SA, 00A).
great work, more skill than any luck can muster
I'm not a speedrunner but I watch quite a lot of speedrunning videos (especially Goldeneye videos because it's my second favourite game of all time) and in my opinion, DLTK speedruns are VASTLY superior to A, SA, 00A etc, far more impressive. Those guys will look at the ground for the entire run if they could and that is so boring to watch.
Now get a guy who actually masters the level, actually MASTERS IT and doesn't just look at the ground the whole damn time -- that's a dude right there.
You are a legend, Blaze. I hope Summoning Salt makes a video on your run!
Congratulations on such an impressive achievement. Having grown up playing this game it was a thrill to watch, and seeing it accompanied by Bismuth's piano and context-providing analysis made it all the easier to appreciate
@@ryans756 reducing the regular mode records to "just looking at the ground" is kinda... no, not kinda, its ignorant lmao
16:00 imagine being the guard who can never interact with Bond.
"I can't see him, I can't see him..."
That's how you survive.
Coincidentally, a subset for Dark License To Kill was recently made on Retro Achievements, and it looks to be one of the hardest sets on the entire site. Despite being out for four months, there are still 8 levels with zero completions outside of Softcore (which lets you load save states and rewind the game). For comparison, on the same site, thirteen people have beat the entirety of the original Ninja Gaiden deathless and sword-only, and two people have beaten Ninja Gaiden damageless. The sets for those have existed for much longer though.
Ohhh, interesting facts, thank you for sharing that info :O
Without looking, I'll try and guess the levels with zero completions. I'm thinking... Caverns, Control, Cradle, Egyptian, Jungle, Statue, Archives... and Aztec of course, although I honestly am finding it hard to envisage barely any of the levels being possible without save states and rewinding. Surely there are too many areas where not being hit is actually IMPOSSIBLE with everything at max...
The funny thing is that what is being done in this speedrun is about exactly the sort of thing I would expect a James Bond character to kind of do irl, (if real life worked like this of course) what with the luring guards and taking adventage of their mode of operation, using explosives to take multiples of them out at once etc.
For those who wish to get a DLTK completion of your own, I highly recommend Surface 2 DLTK as a first. Facility, Bunker 1, Archives, and Frigate are similar in difficulty as well alongside those. I say that but you'd still have to work for those haha. As for the video, color me impressed. Rarely do you have informative videos on this game going into detail about the many intricacies that it has to offer.
The piano interludes add so much! Fantastic work on the visualizations, too, fascinating stuff.
You didnt have to call him out like that at 25:08 but i am glad you did xD
Amazing Video. Absolutly incredible that you created a TAS and Map just to make it more comprehensible.
"Retrieve satellite circuitry, which are strewn about on random tables, as is common practice with unprotected circuit boards."
Never change, Bismuth.
Never change.
Frickin' Commies!
K lol
I gotta say, your editing is pretty top-notch. It's smooth and comprehensible, and isn't uselessly fancy and an eyesore, making it a great way to link the segments of your video together. Keep up the good work!
I love that you picked Aztec as a piano piece, definitely one of the best music tracks in the game.
Port of Adia slipped in there too
@@Redskies453I heard the Port of Adia and was incredibly happy. Loved that tune as a kid. Heck. Still do.
Your videos have always been very polished, but wow. The minor changes here and there and tiny improvements to production value really pays off. Excellent work!!
The quick pause thing is so interesting, just goes to show how good game design can sometimes get in the way of speed running
It doesn't get in the way of speedrunning though, it adds a small layer of strategy where you can speed up pauses when you have downtime.
The craziest thing is that in the 4 months since this has been put out, the run has dropped to 6:56, as of 5 days ago.
Even crazier is that it was 7:10 previously just 2 weeks ago.
Got my Silo DLTK completion today! 😀Thank you for making this great video explanation about the hardest ranked level of Goldeneye that forces you to speedrun it.
That's sick dude! Congratulations
Thank you so much for the flash warnings, I was able to look away in the dangerous sections while still enjoying the video!
The piano at 10:00 is music from Turok 2.
I'm 95% sure it's for the first level, "Port of Ardia"
"Ardia" may be spelt incorrect, but I thought it worth mentioning.
So likely the other bits are different references.
This video is very interesting, well produced and the music is amazing, thank you for the great content as always Bismuth
absolutely kickass indeed, your piano bgm in this one is particularly great
Two words explain this challenge: “Beyond Bond”
Knowing only 10 people beaten it, it’s truly crazy how much they went through just to get it to work out!
Yet knowing how big our gaming multiverse is, there’s always something else out there that’s potentially more improbable and harder than this! And I do understand how hard this one is!
I want Bismuth, Summoning Salt, Gymnast, et al to Kickstart a glossy monthly video game speedrunning news, interview and history magazine in the style of Nintendo Power. Magazines can exist with relatively low subs; a campaign would gauge the interest among the community. I'd love to have a tactile keepsake like that. Hell, there could even be physical strategy guides. We all are seeing how fragile digital media can be, there needs to be a tangible presence for all this, too.
Devolving back to monke speedrun?
@@JorgetePanete More like understanding the limitations of digital storage and the lies about it we were fed.
The Internet Archive absolutely cannot be trusted, and neither can Google
I would pay 10 dollars a month to have access to this.
Digital storage can be trusted when you own it and you control it, but yea, it’s nice to have physical copies as well.
14:45 - I'd like to hear more about Parallel Universes
the turok piano you made is *chef's kiss*
Dude, this video is so well put together. Everything you used to make this fairly dense subject matter visually clear along with tight explanations. Major subscribe, looking so forward to the next video
I love the piano playing, Bis. Fantastic video, as always.
Glad I could catch the premier! Wild concept, and great use of the map side by side.
Thank you so much for covering this, I was so hyped when Adam Bozon accomplished the first ever Silo DLTK!
The map incorporated into the video is so great, would love to see more GoldenEye vids.
This sounds like the LASO challenge from Halo, mad respect to these guys, knowing you can die in an instant and waste up to 30mins of your life can be really really grueling.
Its not really a waste if you're practicing
I assume more people have beaten LASO than this challenge.
8:33 love the Turok 2 piano arrangement!
Super impressive as always. The amount of angles and effort you put into these (the graphics, TAS, and music all being done yourself) is amazing.
Turok 2 has some fantastic music :)
bro that port of adia cover... amazing. you have impeccable taste as always
I would live to see the full run explained, on any difficulty
awesome music and explanations as always! Really interesting speedrun, thanks for highlighting it!
This category is the Dark Souls of Goldeneye.
Eh, more like the DoDonPachi Daioujou Death Label Loop 2 of Goldeneye.
Great video! You do a good job on knowing how much time to spend on things in order to articulate the methods without getting boring.
Amazing video! Always appreciate the auxiliary view and the extra notes!
yo MANOCHEESE!!! or cheesoman, whichever you prefer. What a legend! Definitely partially responsible for me being here today
There's this group of old school gamers that was just everywhere, Manocheese was one of the main DLTK players in the late 00s (Lloyd Palmer on the ranks). Illudude is also one of them
One of my favorite things to do in this level is to use the invincibility cheat and blow up the C4. As you walk through the level, the explosions follow you killing everyone and destroying everything!
Super fun and interesting run with incredible skill. And absolutely phenomenal explanation with the super helpful and amazing map overviews. This video is an absolute blast, thank you!
These demonstrations are on point! Great video dude
Great edit and good explanation! That was really nice!
Dude thank you so much for doing a proper production of this, always appreciated Adam's achievements and deserves to be more sung.
Great video as always, thank you and I thoroughly enjoyed it! ❤
Another top quality video. Loved the explanations, especially with the map, they were super easy to understand.
Fantastic, thank you!
I can't have been the only person absolutely JAMMING to the funky spy music with gun fire and guard death-grunts as a sick backbeat
Great analysis! Awesome stuff.
Another Bismuth Banger™
The effort behind these videos never ceases to amaze me
Your music is always good, but these covers in particular are incredible. Great video as well
Cool and unexpected video! Thank you so much for the deep dive into a category I didn't even know existed, friend.
Wow, I did not expect a DLTK Bismuth upload. Awesome job!
Another amazing work of art from Bismuth!!!
Please keep teaching us more about those magnificent speed runs and incredible people!!!❤❤❤
I love the piano covers that you do of so many songs from my childhood.
Fun facts this is played with 1.1 control style vs 1.2 used in the main game runs. Also those K7 shots are done on purpose even down to the amount of shots.
I suggest anyone to play Silo 00A it's pretty hard makes this completion way more impressive
What's the difference in control schemes?
@disfiguringthegoddess-sh5wf 1.1 uses the stick to move and the C buttons to aim
1.2 uses the C buttons to move and you aim with the stick A and B buttons are switched.
This control scheme was used on most fps games including quake, turok off the top of my head.
Awsome vide. Thanks for explaining every little detail. I don’t do speed runs myself, but I’m a huge fan of watching them. And your explanation made this video 10x batter 🙏
awesome video! really hope you make more Goldeneye videos, you've got good knowledge about the game and mechanics and i really enjoy the professional presentation
I'm so hyped for this
Well explained as always
outstandingly well produced video!
Great video Bismuth!
You're certainly multi-talented! Thanks for another great video, this was so cool! 🎹
another banger way to go bismuth. sick piano music too
Excellent video! I was happily captivated throughout the whole thing.
And yes - absolutely kickass piano. Well played SourPls
the animations you gave there really helped!
10/10 content as always. keep it up, my dude
Thank you for putting so mich effort into your videos!! Its greatly appreciated :))
Lmao the guns going through the player is hilarious
Good breakdown of this speedrun!
The scientist taking out bond was just too funny.
Your content is so greatly appreciated. Ironically, when I’m watching you I feel very unplugged
If Bismuth was my teacher, I'd have done better in school. The skill and effort that's put into explaining complex concepts in a simple way with no wasted words is so refreshing and appreciated. Then add the fact that he plays his own music. Many people on the internet get called "influencers" ... Bismuth doesn't "influence", he "inspires". Keep up the amazing work!
Amazing video, Bismuth, and amazing music!
All your piano in this episode is off the hook, loved that!
I never thought I'd see bismuth talking about golden eye but I love it
The new record by BlazeM is now under 7 minutes! th-cam.com/video/TnhB9U5s3dM/w-d-xo.html
The Turok level 1 Paino is a nice touch
Excellent music in this as always.
25:50
"Objective B: Take a photo of the satellite"
Bond: *takes a 240p photo from behind a staircase, several meters away, half-obscured by a metal beam*
"Objective B: completed" (To be fair, they didn't say a _good_ photograph...)
You should see the picture of the main screen from perfectace's Bunker 1 Secret Agent 19
It’s probably evident enough of a photo for them thanks to the game mechanics!
I hear you playing Aztec and the elevator music on the piano back there bismuth. Classy stuff!
8:30 ... that sounds familiar... oh my god wait! That's Port of Adia from Turok 2!!!! That's awesome, I was NOT expecting that! I still love that song, even after all these years. Best song in the game.
Fantastic video. You narrate wonderfully
The level of detail in your videos is incredible.
I love the Turok piano. Well done!
Great video as always
Man your videos are so goated, the editing the music the info, best info content on yt for sure
I am surprised! This is actually a pretty well-designed game!
Main things tyat increase my positive opinion of this game are bullet starting point being at the gun, enemies being right or left handed, and that having an effect on gameplay, and neat grenade mechanics!
Deing able to exploit railings is kind of a large oversight, but I understand how railings are an edgecase for several of the game's mechanics.
Oh my lord that "port of adia" cover you played in the background really took me back.
I've never played Goldeneye before, but this video definitely made me want to give it a try. Très bien fait comme d'habitude !
incredible video as always. only complaint is that the thumbnail made me think those were your in-game stats at the end or something, but probably nobody else thought that
That left handed being a super power caught me so far off guard, I paused to fully laugh
The visuals must've taken up so much work it's really impressive and the idea was great too, to follow along. Also loved the underlying jokes :)
