I completely agree with you. That's what I kept thinking about during this vid when she was talking about how ppl make/produce false claims and "super foods". I wondered in her vid where she showed the fruit and said all that it could do...but she said it so I went with it...
Sorry. I've never been a fan of April fools. I hate deception in all forms and I am not a fan of this either. I guess it does drive the point home, but I kinda figured it was too good to be true. Idk. I'm conflicted by this. I see why it was done, but I feel like there was a better way to do this than lowering yourself to this same standard as big business just to prove a point. I know it's not the popular opinion in this comments section but I stand by it.
Wow. That explains why NOTHING could be found on this fruit. You got me, but I think you got me because I trust your information. Going to have to watch out for that mischievous nature to see if it pops up in another video 🙂
Right?! I was taught that when I was a child 25 years ago. Has helped me tremendously my whole life and it couldn’t be anymore obvious that you Need to be in this day in time of the internet revolution.
Thank you, thank you. Unfortunately many of us have bought into the hype probably more times than we can count. It's always great to be reminded of what's out there and how vulnerable we are. The hype is there but not always as obvious. Great point you made to gather more information from several different sources. Thanks for keeping it real.
Watching your videos for these past 8 years, I instantly knew this urubu thing is just an April fool's joke 😂. Good points said, Nicole. I believe there is no such things like "superfood" also. Every food is super.
Awh this video was awesome. Unfortunately many want to believe there’s a single source of food that can give ultimate benefits to your health and that just isn’t the case. I’m always glad to see someone on the platform that promotes the importance of looking deeply into the facts and not just accepting points as is. Many with bigger platforms are trying to use buzzwords and heavy jargon to promote a product that doesn’t carry the weight that they say and it hurts the public’s health, wealth and trust in professionals that have put the effort into researching and understanding the products we consume. Really good video with an important point for todays learners!
I honestly cannot get over how beautiful your house is. Any time I catch a glimpse of it in one of your videos I just fall in love. Look at the texture on that wall! The color of the wood! Oh!
I agree love that some of the episodes take place in Nicole's new home , love to get a glimpse of her beautiful home while still learning about food on true food tv 👍
I was rolling my eyes in the last vid and was like "but she'd never put false info in a video" ! I was very conflicted until I remembered it was April fools! haha
Raising my hand as someone who initially was really "hopeful(?)" about the fruit, and it was only my research (I clicked the link in description on the Harvest) that opened my eyes. Good one though. And I will add, the claims were outlandish, but because they came from someone whose opinions I trust, it gave it more legitimacy. Thank you for showing that.
Information garbage is why I've spent thousands of hours doing research to weed out marketing from real info. Your channel is one of my most trusted sources.

Impressed by the flow of words. Impressed by many of your videos: great documentary film-making. I suddenly realized that you would not be highlighting the meat industry in America with a husband born in Iran. You are Muslims or more likely Bahais. I've had dinner with my Iranian Bahai friends several times--only chicken--pork and beef big no nos. That family is one of the healthiest I've ever seen. You are here on TH-cam shining a positive light on positive food. You cannot act as dietitians or psychologists to help people with their food problems. There is a TED Talk that plainly describes half of us as at war with food and the other half as people who eat to keep themselves nourished--that's it. Yo-yo dieting and so many lifestyle diseases mean that food is our enemy, not our friend. I confess I've also been sucked into "superfood" labeling on a couple of occasions, so thank you for reminding me that "Labeling matters." For those of you struggling with your food, be brave, be strong and hope one day you discover that food is your best friend.
Bravo! I've been living in the Dominican Republic for 20 years and I'm always finding new fruits and plants that have amazing benefits. You are absolutely right... It's all about balance. I was thinking wow... that looks like the dried up lime I just took out of the fridge to make room for the fresh ones... if you do have a use for it before it goes in the garbage please share LOL.
HAHA you guys are awesome! You totally pulled one over on me. I was so upset by that video that I had stopped watching your channel. Then this reveal video showed up in my feed and I just HAD to see what this so called superfood even looked like. 🤣 I’m so glad I clicked because I had almost written you guys off as just another sellout TH-camr. Now I’m sitting here feeling a range of emotions. Gullible for believing you were serious, relieved that you weren’t, but mostly laughing at myself for falling for it. I guess the real takeaway for me is the realization that despite the vast wealth of good and valuable content you guys have produced, I was almost willing to completely walk away from your channel over a single false narrative. Well done you guys. Now I off to do some personal self reflection.😉
How ironic that one of these super foods ads popped up after your video. I have been a skeptic for a while (40 + years) since my father was sold a bill of goods - aloe juice to cure his bone to bone knee pain. Like I said in your previous video, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is... Since there is so many disparate people out there due to the auto immune dysfunctions I get it. ...
Although I was sceptical even from only knowing it supposedly contained 'all the vitamins', I still paused the video halfway through to look it up. Having found nothing, I proceeded to comment ('April Fools in March?') before being sure by the end. But if I wasn't a biologist, I could quite easily be taken in by such claims as 'prevents hairloss' and 'natural weight loss chemicals'... it's genuinely scary how much misinformation there is on the internet and I applaud you, Nicole, for doing it justice without ranting... I really enjoyed the video and the comments section!! Still secretly hoping there's an amazing undiscovered fruit somewhere deep in the Andes, Amazon or somewhere else remote that might be a cure for malaria, hairloss or even cancer... here's hoping! 'Til then, a balanced diet will do :D
That "urubu" looks like the lime I bought back in 2018 that's still in my fridge. I will be cutting it open with a grinder in a couple years, so keep an eye out!
Ive had a market garden my whole life and sad thing Is that majority of people have no clue where the food they eat comes from. big percentage of people would rather buy something that looks pretty in grocery store than trust a local farm. we are meant to eat REAL food but most don't know what real food is. if that apple looks too good to be true , IT IS. anyway love your videos this stuff needs to be taught in schools :)

I knew it was a dried lime soon as I saw it in this video (closer view) from leaving some on my counter too long lol. Margaritas and tacos mmmm! Good job on trolling the superfood hype community. I was in the A. fools group, I too can see through the clutter of bodacious claims. I despise the word “superfood” and dislike that some try to capitalize on what should be ordinary seasonal staple foods. Stay healthy and happy everyone, growing is the key to both. Meanwhile this channel lights that passion and has helped me often through the years.
Not gonna lie I thought you were really introducing a new fruit. But as a Persian myself I was wondering how similar it was with dried lime or 'limoo-amani' as we call it.
Lol, you almost got me there; I went & checked the first video as u asked, and as you revealed the fruit, (being Persian) I was like oh this is a Limou Amani (dried lime), but then u went on, & I kind of bought into it! You're right, there's no magic wonder fruit & super food, it's all about how much money & support is backing it up & the hype of the ads. I'm sure all basic every day foods like potatoes & wheat & parsley have been super foods at some point. Thanks for your great videos.
I fell for it until you said it was full of fibre only to say a minute later that it didn't contain any carbs. I was like I know Nicole knows better and she would not actively spread miss information either. And then the Rick roll sealed the deal 😂
Well done... thanks for the ride! :D I KNEW I should have watched the 'harvest cam" link before coming over to the 4/1 video!! Nicely done, Nicole. Nicely done.

I'm happy to learn that the "Urubu" was a creation of your imagination as my first thought when I saw the prior video was that it was too good to be true! It was almost convincing, but my skeptical mind told me you were making it up.Fully agree with your point that there is so much hype and outright misinformation pertaining to food and it can be overwhelming. I'm convinced one reason we have so many health problems in the USA is due to the unsubstantiated and misleading claims pushed by the food industrial complex to help sell calorie-rich/nutrient deficient food. Point well taken. Definitely got a bruised ego from that trick though. I could probably stand to be taken down a notch or two. I still think goji berries are awesome regardless of the superfood nomenclature.
Perhaps it is a reflection of the powerful brand of trust you have built that My initial reaction was was dismay to your “superfood” comment. I felt betrayed before it dawned on me that it was an early April Fool.
Thank you for that dose of reality in the world of misinformation that we are being forced to muck through. And presenting it In a way that inspires people to use critical thinking. You just did in 10 mins what most institutions of higher learning have failed to be able to do for decades.

Really sharp thoughts here, Tom -- thanks for sharing them. I'm going to do a little more on that soon. You've hit the nail on the head.
I searched for at least 30 minutes on the internet for Yurubu.
Great April fools joke, but also many great points about food and news these days. Thank you for the laugh and the information!
Thanks for watching!
Point well taken. Definitely got a bruised ego from that trick though. I could probably stand to be taken down a notch or two. I still think goji berries are awesome regardless of the superfood nomenclature.
Don't feel bad! We ALL have fallen prey to it. And feel good about those goji berries -- they too can be part of a varied, well-balanced diet!
@@TrueFoodTV I actually feel good about it. Means I learned something and am growing as a person 😃
Perhaps it is a reflection of the powerful brand of trust you have built that My initial reaction was was dismay to your “superfood” comment. I felt betrayed before it dawned on me that it was an early April Fool.
I’m renaming dried limes!
Thank you for that dose of reality in the world of misinformation that we are being forced to muck through. And presenting it In a way that inspires people to use critical thinking. You just did in 10 mins what most institutions of higher learning have failed to be able to do for decades.
Genuinely humbled to hear that. Thank you.
Hehe, I knew it was a dried lime(or lemon), we use them in India as well! It's instantly identifiable! Had a laugh out of the two videos nevertheless! 😂
Thanks!
Well ID'ed! 😉
