Just getting started as a hunter in classic wow and your guide makes me excited and at least has made my experience with kiting and auto shooting better 5 years later lol thanks
I really love your guides. They are super informative man. Keep it up with this content. There is a lack of video guides with this sort of information. If you continue this you will be one of the exclusive TH-cam accounts that the Classic community will go to for in-depth, tactical, hunter skill guides. I can only foresee your subscriptions drastically increasing as we approach launch!
***The addendum regarding splitting mobs using feign death was fixed in patch 1.9, and since Classic will be running on 1.12, this will no longer be possible. I haven't been in the Beta so this is news to me as well! The change was implemented to avoid exploited Dire Maul bosses so it makes since. If anything, this will encourage us to get more creative with and practice trapping!*** Thanks Landy Perdigon for asking!
Amazing video! Leveling a hunter alt and i watched a few of your videos back to back. I feel so much better now, already started getting compliments on double trapping, thank you!
On Classic feign death makes my traps break and the mobs reset. If I feign when an enemy is in a trap I exit combat and the trapped enemy is instantly released. I've played a hunter since release and have always double trapped. I don't know why it's not working now.
That nearly-self-incriminating ending tho :D hey, great videos! Half an hour with your channel is worth weeks of running around trying to figure this shit out on your own if you never played it. Good stuff!
I’m late to this video, but damn it’s good. I’m about to go off and work on these techniques, thanks for taking the time to make these videos, man. Quick question: Is there a reliable place to browse macros to see what all is available?
Hi Jesse, I just found out that the patch classic is running will not support splitting mobs in this way. If you are still interested I would recommend digging through some mob splitting footage using frost trap instead. Cheers!
I'm new to vanilla advanced hunter mechanics and I tried this myself. At first I was trying to do it without building up threat with a tank or pet first. The part that I didn't realize was that to achieve two simultaneous freezing trap debuffs, something other than the hunter (pet or tank) has to build up threat on them first. The second part is that when you use the second freezing trap you have to use the ability while you are in the feign death animation. If you try to move first then use the trap then it won't work.
My apologies for skipping over some of those subtleties, happy to see you got in there and worked out the kinks for yourself. The aggro problem is primarily for pve, as if the mob has nothing on its aggro table it will drop all debuffs (similar to evading basic attacks while resetting). The feign death in to trap is another PVE constraint as by moving you will reenter combat so you must get the trap off before entering combat, making rapid sequence necessary. Best of luck!
Does the tactic you used at the end work on beta? I can't get it to work. I will hit all the mobs first, then send my pet to attack one of them, and when I feign death they all attack my pet that had done nothing to the other mobs. It's an owl but screech is not on autocast so he's not using any aoe ability.
I'm in the No Beta Club so I can't test first hand. This led me to do some digging and I found that this mechanic was patched out in patch 1.9, since classic will be running on 1.12 it appears that you will not be able to do this. Thanks for bringing this up and I'll add an annotation to the video.
@@kork1118 Thanks a lot for the reply. I was getting really frustrated thinking I was doing something wrong. Just curious, was the mechanic stealth nerfed? I couldn't find it in the patch notes for 1.9 or anywhere else after some googling. Do you know if it was only an interaction with Hunters and their pets or was it an overall change to how aggro worked?
Great guide, thanks! It is very helpful. Quick question on single pulling from a group. If the group mobs would normally aggro my pet it doesn't seem to work to sic pet on target and FD. Then the whole group just wails on my pet. Is there a way around this? For example I have a specific murloc I want to kill. I pull the target and aggro all four mobs. Sic pet on target and FD and get away fine but the rest of the murlocs quickly kill my pet and run back to their spawn points. I have tried trapping the target but that still leaves the other 3 murlocs killing my pet. Am I missing something? Thanks again!
You can not eat in combat, nor trap three targets unless you time it in a second every thirty seconds, which then would make the first one too old anyway.
Much appreciated. I'm glad you are finding it helpful. I spent some time as an associate instructor so I have some previous experience relaying information.
I stumbled on a trip for taming elite mobs or mobs with cc to break the channel like the swoops in Mulgore, by taming and nearby trash mob you can have it tank while you channel tame pet and then abandon the trash pet just before the channel finishes

I appreciate the love! I've got a couple ideas I'm working on right now.

Sorry, so double-trapping ISN'T a thing?
Can you remove the video if it's no longer relevant?
@hesketh7085 seriously? What a lovely request...

Would you mind sharing your macro? I cant make it work for doubling.
@@adancingpenguin3137 you need to start macro by recalling pet so it's out of combat otherwise if it hits something you cannot trap.
Loved these videos very much. Also your passion towards hunters is a bliss to witness. Thank you!
very good video. this was my first time doing a hunter and this really helped

This frost mage thanks you. My hunter game just got 10 times better. Thank you for the series.

Great hunter lessons, Thank you
I cannot recall. Wasn't the engineering tool target dummy in? If so, couldn't rogues still pull off that addendum? ;)
As I dwell on it, I realise its an AOE taunt from the dummy. With some clever use based on mob pathing you COULD manage it maybe.
An interesting experiment! Let me know what your results are :)

can you explain why when i FD and pets either attacking something or not either way i cant place another trap from FD

this is awesome!! im so tired of every guide reviewing what the best racials are, telling us to buy ammo and spec beast mastery.

Hmm, it might be a subpatch. Look in to some 1.9.x patches
Wonderful video, thanks!
But how can you keep up 2 traps for an infinite amount of time?

Hmmm, not sure if this is intended. I wonder if this behavior will still work come release.
Wait. You can use traps in combat. I see this video is 2 years old so maybe it’s changed but I definitely can use traps in combat
In Classic TBC, yes you can.
In Classic Vanilla, traps can only be place when your character status is out of combat.
Traps less versatile than polymorph ? Really as a hunter you think that ? What can a mage poly ? What can a hunter trap ? Come on man.
