And here we are in 2022 with a re-release of the new Leica M6. Only in black chrome with brass top though. Good thing you got the silver one. I think I’ve watched this last year or probably in 2020 when I was still lusting over the M6 until I found one for a grand early this year! Anywho a follow video would be nice. Thanks for uploading this, it sure inspired me while waiting for the right time to own one.
Warranty time periods usually start from the time the product is purchased by the end user. So, I am curious since this was "new old stock" from one Leica authorized dealer to another, did the SFO Leica store tell you if Leica would still honor the warranty? I am also curious how much you paid for it? FWIW, a CLA is a great idea, but I have several pre-war Leicas and Zeiss-Ikons that weren't used for decades before I received them. Most work incredibly well, although the shutter timing might be a little off. The best photo I ever took was on a very early ZI Contax III. On the other hand, I bought an almost pristine Contax II, and it wouldn't fire. I sent it to a man who specializes in early ZI cameras for service. He discovered two manufacturing flaws and doubted the camera ever worked. Maybe the original owner made the purchase just as war broke out and so servicing it was no longer an option when they discovered the issue. Anyway, the reason it was in such a pristine condition is it sat in a dry closet for ~77 years. With the repairs now made, I look forward to shooting it soon. Congrats on your find, and kudos to you for opening it with the intention of using it. Some collectors might give you guff, but it's such a waste to have a beautiful camera unless you'll use it to take great pictures. Thanks for the video too.
Top level satisfaction, thank you for sharing this with us! I admit though it did make me cringe a little bit to see the plastic broken but a beautiful camera such as an M6 shouldn't be a shelf piece but a working piece of art on the field. Enjoy your M6! I can't wait to have on one day, or an xpan haha
Hate to disappoint you. The same ownership as the SF Leica store actually had more than 2 brand new M6's. I also have a brand new M6 Silver from their other store. I currently have no intention of opening the packaging since I have a few already and will keep this M6 sealed for a few more years.
we want to know if the low velocity train works and if the rangefinder is vertically alligned. That are the most important things you have to be bored about when you buy an old m6 classic (in addition of some light leaks due to rubbers corrosion and not working light meters...) being said that, i am in love with my delicate m6 classic of the 1986.
All shutter speeds operated properly (and map to my much newer MP), and there are no apparent light leaks or issues with degraded lubricants. Lucked out!
I think we may have passed each other in the store when you bought this camera. Was Wayne your salesperson? I was in there with my colleague who bought the two M5s in box but they were opened. I ended up shooting a video like yours, although an actual unopened M5 would have been more interesting. Thanks for your video
@@nelmur ha ha, no worries. I'm a small guy in person, although my voice is pretty loud. Congrats on your M6. I have the M7 so my next body will probably be either an M4, M-A or MP. I want a meterless body this time.
It would have been funny after all those years sealed up in the box, if it were finally opened only to reveal someone years ago took the camera out and stuck a brick in there and sealed it back up!
really cool and unique to have one of those. I don't know if i could ever buy one of those things though, as I imagine that unboxing that amazing camera as i assume collectors would be willing to pay more for the camera in its original packaging. On the other hand, it would also be a pity for such a nice camera to spend its life in a box.... anyway, congrats on such an amazing find.
Looks fantastic wooo and I got a friend of mine who want to sale his LEICA M6 None TTL Black body only to me for £500.00 and is big been used for a long time
Lucky you. What did you pay? Are some old 75 mm left, Cron or Lux? OMG, I am so jealous (in a positive way). This can only be topped by never opened M3 (don‘t mind double or single stroke), I‘d rather prefer over the M6, because it has the self timer (even if you do not use it on 99.99% of the shots).
Love it that you opened the box and will use the camera. It is made to be used :) However, I feel you might kick yourself in the fure for opening it instead of keeping it sealed for the coming years.
Funny...I found this camera in our schools mountaineers club in a very old box....I thought it was just a shitty old camera...nobody wanted it and I took it to my dorm...I played with winder like a fidget until it broke and I threw it away.....that was 10 years ago...
I’m not a collector, but I couldn’t help but think that the special M6 lost a little something. The moment he took it out of its presentation case and out of the plastic and started fumbling about with it in his 21st century hands. I’ve been bitten by a Weird psychology there
one day i'll abandon my shitty 30 dollar point and shoot for one of these beasts :(( until then I will cry watching every lecia unboxing video, and wish I had 3000 dollars of spending money
FFS over seven minutes before we see the actual camera after all that wanky looking at instructions, etc. A normal person would have that camera out in a second.
As weird as it may seem to some people, this video is about the box, not the camera. You can look at a m6 anywhere but most people have never unboxed a Leica from 1985. :)
@@AJ-wv3rs Thank You for Your comment, mr. Pope. I have had half a dozen used Leicas with shutter speed problems. If you don't use Leica, it doesn't work. If you use Leica, it's still possible it doesn't work. And shutter made of fancy cloth - beware of sunshine! You can burn a hole in it! Never had a single problem with Nikon FM's, so I ordered one. With Leica money you can get 20 Nikons.

Enjoying this unboxing video in 2021. Leica "Time Capsule" Edition must be worth so much!
never opened?
man that is crazy!
that must be worth so so much!
seriously crazy
thanks for sharing this with us
really enjoyed watching this
it was...
3 to 4 grand they sell
Watching $$$$ disappear in 8 minutes. But such beauty needs to be unleashed.
'Leitz' isn't pronounced as 'Leedz', 'Leica' stands for 'Leitz-Camera'. So 'Leitz' is pronounced the same way as the 'Lei' in 'Leica'
I cringed super hard when he said that lol
In German, 'ei' is pronounced like 'eye'. So Leitz is pronounced l-eye-ts.
Was gonna mention that, he didn't pronounce it "leeca" so why "leetz"?
Someone should tell that to all the people who say "Rolleeflex", it drives me mad.
Leitz, Camera, Action.

Steven Foon - as i’ve said before, a camera is worthless if it’s not used to take pictures.
Correct... but I have several of them already.
...absolutely pointless and embarrassing dick-measuring, Steve Foon - you sound like a whole sack of real fun, cameras notwithstanding. Jeez.
@@stevenfoon2194 Well then stop buying them.
That was one loooong foreplay. Yep, there is such a thing - it's Leica! :)

what did you pay??
Do they have any more? which dealer again?
any update? does it work well??
How much did you pay for that treasure?
Need more unboxing like this.
first time watching a brand new leica m6 unboxing. (waiting for the new hands on video)
Just think, the air inside that box was sealed in there in 1985, 33 years to the time you opened it.
would love to know how much it cost, if you'd like to share that info? great find!!!
Camera at 5:18
James at nowhere
That was amazing to watch.
it was a camera.. not a watch :O)
A time travel unboxing! Mind blown.
I think you got the TTL MODEL
I forget that I’ve never seen the boxes of any of these cameras I own and that they all already have stories to tell sometimes.

can anyone recommend similar film cameras like the m6 but not as expensive please?
This is great, what a find. These are the interesting on boxing videos, keep up the great work.
I opened Nishika 8000 in last year which was manufactured in 1985 and the batteries still worked.
How much did you pay for that. I want one too, preferably new like this one
im guessing he paid over $3000

Very cool. Love unboxing mint film cameras.
wow never seen one with the "Leitz" red dot!
I think I would have kept it in the package and saved it for another 20 years.
Is there a hole in the shutter speed dial?
There's a screw that passes through the top of the shutter speed dial, dark grey or black head.
How much?
First time I didn't skipped through the paperwork part in an unboxing video.
It's easy: Leitz is pronounced like the Word "Lights" ;)
Looks gorgeous 👍
Why did you take it out of the packet man?😩
oliver saverino So I could make photographs with it!
👏Always lovely 📷 camera

Great camera
Brand New Never Opened ?
Wow that must be very rare !
Unboxing ?
Wait no
Why open it?
To take stunning photographs.
NETVO TV Why not?
My thoughts lol I’d keep it sealed sell it and buy a used one and have lots of change
A collector would pay top dollar for this unopened, maybe he’s a collector too
That's so cool!
The M6 is an Icon and a Legend. I have two of them myself. And that Omega is too.
would have kept it in the box, definitely
What for? A camera is worthless if it’s not being used as intended.
7:04 here we go, depreciated $5000 :D

funny how 6 out of 8 min video is spend to show the packaging and the papers !
what a nice gear porn. Thanks for that :)

Nice ...
That was amazing
*Finds a box inside a box* ''And here is the camera itself''

So this is what it feels like to unbox a leica
Just pronounce it like a Leica!
A full 5 min. 20 seconds till we see the camera? In an 8 min. Video??????????
I just do not have this kind of time to waste!
Later.........
unboxing....is that still relevant in 2020?
