    Video @ 4:14 "here's a photo" - One thing folks need to learn about using a rangefinder camera, FOCUS then RECOMPOSE. Too many new users fire the shutter immediately after focusing (the main subject is too centered with too much sky or ceiling; the foreground is much more pleasing). Instead, practice quickly recomposing using the two rules of GOOD photography. 'Rule Of Thirds' & 'Looking Room'

    I learned photography in my time in the Navy 20 years ago and have been shooting Leica analog Ms for 15 years. There's usually a steep learning curve especially for younger photographers who only have had digital cameras. HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT YOU. You figured this out quick my man.

    What I love with film photography is that the camera doesn't matter, it's 70% the film stock and 30% the lens as for image quality. As for sharpness and focus accuracy it's the photographer. No way a rangefinder can compete with autofocusing film cameras made around 2000. The AF was so great even then that sports phtotogs used it extensively. The Canon EOS 300X or similar with modern EF lenses is brutally awesome when your primary goal is to take gorgeous, sharp in focus film photography. And all this for tiny fraction of your Leica gear. Film prices especially reversal are brutal anyhow.

      Apple Watch is more accurate and with plenty modern functions than Swiss Rolex. But people still buy Swiss watches. Leica is not only a terrific tool to get pictures, but also a fine toy and jewelry for the photographers. No Apple watch can be passed to the next generation, but a 200 year Rolex worth much more than its original value. It is an investment and legend through generations. That is what I feel when I hold my M6/M3.

  • @mattmaber
    @mattmaber 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When loading, I tend to feed the leader in, then with the base still off fire a shot or 2 to check the film has caught, then close the baseplate and start shooting immediatly.
    That should ensure the film is properly on the take up spool, but also you get some nice frame burns and light leak for the first few frames ratehr than winding on to '0' then startoing form that.
    if that makes sense.

      @@TheZachMendez The MP is such a pleasure to use. The Black Paint finish is gorgeous! It feels even more dense and compact than my M11. The leather wrap is much more pebbled and textured than my Q3. The mechanics are so satisfying.
      Same with your M6, I had a few times, some difficulty loading the film, and it would not catch. I've lost a few frames because of this.
      I was told it would start brassing over time, but after a few months, I only see minimal brassing on the tip of the advance lever, I'm hoping to keep this beauty for many more years to come.

    It's wonderful seeing you both in love with leica M6TTL! I use it!
    You are selling your selves short ! Film is your base! Great!
    Now I'm going to suggest using Roll film 120! My prefernce the Rollei or MamiyaflesTwin lens (heavy). Try it out and make prints! Compare!! It costs roughly 3x more! Film is 12 exp vs 36! You will shoot slower, need seperate hand meter, slow! There are Pentax 645 and Mamiya 645.. 15 exp per roll. I don't mention Hasselblad, 'cause I never could focus them..Flash at any speed. The quality jump will knock you. Borrow a camera, a few films. It's not Leica priced. Do a standing portrait of your wife Dune, backlit at 15feet.Use full aperture f3,5 or f4. So falling depth of feld very easily seen.. Try similar with Leica.. I know thats not what you read and hear! I used medium format in studio and on location for about 30 years..

    The used Leica M6 is not the same camera as the new Leica M6. The new Leica M6 is essentially the same Leica MP that Leica had been making through all these years. The new M6 is essentially just the M6 top plate on top of the same Leica MP. So no, you can't buy a used M6 and get the same camera. They are quite different.
