got to appreciate how strong our instincts are to avoid arachnids that even an acrnophile is shocked by a tarrantular directly in front of his face.
Just imagine how much of his field of vision that critter took up, moving mere inches in front of his face. Can you imagine if you were looking at something six inches away, and it suddenly grew a series of legs and ran away?
Despacito could have died twice in one episode. What a legend. I'm also glad the tarantula didn't venture all the way over to Cappuccino's enclosure.

Your reaction was priceless! I just got an A. avicularia, my first Tarantula. Everything has been going great, super chill little "guy," I let my guard down when offering food today, it grabbed the tongs and bolted up them toward my hand. 3 things learned, I need longer tongs and always have a catch cup, and never underestimate a T. LOL 20 minutes later and I'm still shaking hahah.
Despacito is probably on Apartments.com right now looking for a new roommate 😂.

I think it be a good time that we talk about some emergency plans in case of a bite from any venomous creature, like first aid kits, venom extractor etc. Because who knows maybe no one would notice someone is missing till they get bit reaching for something. Even if the venom is not that strong some peoples bodies could react differently from bites. safe then sorry.
GhstRdr 2999 this should get more recognition. I feel like this is important for people who own exotic animals especially a lot. First aid kits should be available for the pet keeper and other pets. You’re smart. Thank you for commenting that

@@wileysworld9439 if your alergic its preitty dangerous, you could go into shock. Imagine not knowing your alergic for your pet tarantulas bite and for some reason it bites you in the evening while feeding when there is no one around, could end very bad so better safe then sorry

You'll be 3x as careful if the spider is potentially deadly, but it can still happen, I had C. salei before which are wandering spiders too (with mild venom though) and they're REALLY fast, cant even compare a Ts bolt to that of a Cupiennius or Phoneutria.
I must have watched that 10 second clip of Petko reacting to finding the spider over a dozen times! His reaction was priceless!!

Fun thing as someone who kept both a cat and a hamster before - the cat was kinda not sure what a hamster even is.
He'd sit near the enclosure and observe but never tried to interact.
I used to call it "Hamster TV" as he could sit there for HOURS.
When I got a rat on the other hand... It wasn't so easy. I had to make the rat enclosure super secure because the cat would constantly try to get to him. I even started tying everything with steel wires as the cat was very, very persistent.
Changing the substrate was not fun either with both the rat and the cat loose I had to basically keep watching them the entire time while cleaning.
I am honestly kinda surprised that Mitza was approaching a lizard as big as Despecito like that. Either she hunted some lizards before or... I have no idea what.
I'd expect her to be more curious-but-cautious about an unknown creature.
@@TheDarkDen a lot of cats don't really know what to make of hamsters. I think its the lack of fear most hamsters show towards kitties confuse them.
@@Liadara No guys, it's the tail. Cats like to hunt things that have a tail or things that flies. Doesn't mean they can't hunt a hamster, but it doesn't excite them by instinct as a tail does.
I love your cat and your wood collection. I’d love to have all your pets. The enclosures are beautiful. I’m so glad you found her. I would have probably fell backward and tripped over everything. So glad you didn’t get bit.
I think the fact you uploaded this video is great. It shows that mistakes can happen and that people are human, and they will make mistakes. Hopefully most of the time it ends well like it does here, but on the occasional time it doesn't, remembering that there's a person behind the video who cares about their animals will help keep the community more positive. Thanks for sharing, it's important that people see how to solve situations like this in case it happens to them as well. Much love, I'm a huge fan!

Instinctually it will climb up. . That's what my small pokie did when it escaped. I found it on the top of the shelf it was closest to, on some doll thing I have up there that offered it some cover. I found it the following night, with the lights off and a flashlight.

Don't give up hope! I've had them come home or show up months later, as much as six months in the case of one rose hair that managed to climb out of her enclosure (probably with the help of some of my students) while I was on vacation. We finally found her across two bedrooms, a common room, a long hall, and a dorm bathroom, stealthily stalking crickets that came in once it was finally spring!

Dear Kelly, men can be manly and scared at the same time. I'd stray from using the word manly as a synonym for fearless, because that's what adds to society's stigma of men not being allowed to admit weakness or communicate their feelings, cause then they're not "manly". I bought a spiderling Brachypelma hamorii (Mexican Redknee). Not really knowing what I was doing, I kept it in a plastic critter keeper that has the large vents in the lid. Two days later, it was gone. I had nightmares about that. I looked all over trying to find this little spiderling. I found it halfway burrowed in the corner of the floor against the wall about a week later still in good health.
When tarantula escapes just leave the keys of house on the counter and find a new place. Tarantula now owns the house
