My L. parahybana escaped once because I left the enclosure open. The next day I saw tarantula poop on the ground and I was thinking like what the hell is this then I even saw spider web on the ground all over my room. That was the moment when I checked that I left the enclosure open. Luckily she was a brave girl and went back in her terrarium herself and waited for me to close her enclosure.
Wow! Lucky! I am learning from all of these channels and their commenters just how smart some T's can be and how they all have their own little personalities. I was one of those people whom were deathly afraid of arachnids that accidentally stumbled upon this channel and now I'm trying to convince my 17 year old son to let me get him one & keep it in his room at his fathers house but, I'll take care of it (as I can't keep one in my home as my partner smokes tobacco inside). So far it's a big fat no however, I plan to break him down by watching petko and tarantula havens channels, lol.

Not only have I gotten rid of my slight fear of spiders but TOTALLY gotten rid of my freakish fear of tarantulas! I think, for me, it would be best to start with a ‘jumper’. Who knows though... I have quite a list created already

I wanted to catch him and keep him for a few days but, I felt bad at the thought of removing him from the wild and he looked to be mature so, he needed to go dance for the ladies anyway, lol. He even did the angle wiggle thing with his abdomen at me for a second. I wish I had my phone with me to get a picture and video but, he had already moved into a tiny hole on the underside before I left. But SO FRIGGIN CUTE! 😍 I now talk to all of the spiders i see in my house to make deals with them, they get to eat all of the juicy bugs my Philadelphia house has to offer as long as they don't come onto my bed, or have babies in my living spaces, lol 😂
@@effy_kujo jumping spiders are the best and one of the only spiders I handle. I managed to get an awesome up close picture of one chomping on a big daddy long legs on my kids gokart. I never really considered that they hunted those and would loved to have seen the takedown.
after some time, selling the house -"oh, yeah I have to mention I grow tarantulas and one is loose around the house, it hangs out with a hissing roach but don't you worry, they're just as big as a fist. Enjoy the house, bababyyeee..."
A few people have asked him for endoscopes over the time. for sticking down in The Burrow and stuff.. I think an endoscope would be an awesome addition to the dark Den
@@654wsj yes, they could hurt their fangs. There's no way to really be careful as they sometimes attack without warning. He couldn't pull it away to make sure they don't get hurt if it's a surprise attack. Not worth the risk tbh, especially when you consider a damaged fang can mean starvation if they're not due a molt.
ouh wow, that would be my worst nightmare.... Even though, i just have new worlds, i wouldn´t sleep well, if my tarantulas would be walking around my bed. I´m glad you found her! hope none of your tarantulas watched her escape and tries the same =)

I love how much you care for your pets. You never smack the enclosures and if you tap it it's always a light tap. You don't harass them trying to force feed them their food when they don't want to eat or be bothered. Your care for all of them just warms my heart. You take your time and give them all your patience, love, and understanding. I wish more "exotic" pages took a few tips from you.

*imagine* : Middle of the night, you're just about to go to sleep... All of a sudden you hear what seems to be rapid keyboard strokes. The strokes stop... All of a sudden you turn over in your bed and hear a thud on the floor followed by more keystroke sounds... That's what I imagine losing a tarantula in the bedroom is like.

My first baby spotted python got out through a small cable hole in the tank for a heat mat. I looked everywhere it was lost for a week when I found it in my brothers room in the window frame warming itself. That feeling of relief is sooo good. Glad you found her and with less of a fright than the last one 😂
So the hissing roach is still on the run? Hilarious! Great vid, have had escapes here as well. Biggest was a M. balfouri communal, forgot to close it off, search took hours. Eventually everyone was found, all 8 of them in good health!
I refuse to watch a lost Old World tarantula video ever again. I almost had a heart attack. I am so relieved you found her - he is a beauty. She looked pretty calm for her adventure. In the meantime, I am currently looking for Clyde, my Horsefield tortoise, who has found some place to hide in my room. I always block my bedroom door when I let him out so he's in here somewhere. It's very warm here so that isn't an issue at all. I'm sure he feels quite clever about now. Like you, while I search, I am cleaning up as I go along, so Clyde's game of hide-and-go-seek is a positive in that respect. Again, congrats on finding your girl. What a relieved! I'm really glad you found her :) I wanted to say thank you for helping me with my phobia of arachnids in general. I started watching your channel with my phone about 2 meters away from me, now however I have got to the point where I can hold a container holding one of our big (for the uk) spiders. My husband had to catch it though I'm not that far yet but I didn't run out of the house crying like a little girl lol. My phobia came from my grandad letting me watch 'kingdom of the spiders' when I was 5 years old I'm now 34 and facing my fears, and not showing my 4 year old to be scared of things but also educating to not pick every bug or spider up that he sees. So again thank you so much!

Congratulations on finding your girl. I have a big terrestrial female escape on me TWICE. The first time I found her I didn't even know she escaped, and found her in my bathroom one morning! Always an unnerving and stressful experience when they escape. 😬
Maybe when moving to new Den..to place a fine net on the back of all your units..so If one escapes at least they wont be able to get out the back?...maybe invest in a endoscope? So you can look behind and above without moving units...and secure locks on the enclosures! It mustve been a nightmare for you! Especially IF you didnt find her!! Telling the next person to rent.."errr if you find a tarantula..ring me"!! Haha Im so relieved you found it in the end!!
I have a Terrastial tarantula which I've seen climbing quite a lot which surprised me as I was under the impression that terrestrial tarantulas wouldn't climb. I actually brought up the issue with magnets on enclosures in some facebook groups and also on another youtubers video as I've always felt that they aren't secure enough as with enough pressure it can be opened, having a latch or similar is the best option to me. So glad you managed to find her.
Glad you found her! Maybe sometime you might have use for a fiber optic viewer to look into tight places like tarantula burrows or behind shelf systems. The image quality would not be great, but you could use the thin, flexible cable to see into otherwise blocked areas.

I lost my Smithi tarantula once it escaped from a heavy glass enclosure and when i went to the fridge and grab food i noticed that there were webs in the back i looked over and she was ther hiding she wanted to be there because it was warm dark and it feels safe for the tarantula

You need a long handled grabber. Not for picking up the tarantula but for safely moving pieces of cork bark out of boxes safely

Have you considered buying one of those tiny cameras on the end of a flexible rod? Great for looking in small spaces, especially burrowed areas!

I was really waiting for this kind of video. I was kind of expecting one tarantula to overcome the magnetic seal on an enclosure
And he wants to move the dark den to his basement when stuff like this can happen? Then a wild obt is in your house somewhere, not paying rent, just chilling out of your view...idk if that's such a good idea cheif 😅
that's why I will have secured door to separate basement from rest of the house :D

I lost my Smithi tarantula once it escaped from a heavy glass enclosure and when i went to the fridge and grab food i noticed that there were webs in the back i looked over and she was ther hiding she wanted to be there because it was warm dark and it feels safe for the tarantula

once my friends red tailed boa escaped in his house so he waited a week to try and find it but couldn’t so presumed it dead and he went and got another one, a week later he’s going to change one of the decorative bulb light on his wall and the snake was wrapped around the lights 😂 animals pick the weirdest spots to hide
