Your brake switch is probably not adjusted correctly. The problem occurs when the vehicle determines that it is moving while the brake lights are on. If the adjusting nut on the brake switch isn't correctly adjusted then the van will think that the brakes are engaged when they actually aren't. This causes it to throw a code and it disables features that could cause stability issues if there really is a brake malfunction, such as cruise control and electronic stability control.

I thought of that & changed the brake switch a few times playing around to make sure I had a good switch. It sure is possible that I did not get the gap right, I’m not sure how finicky they are but it was a tight working space.
This could very well be anyone else’s issue too, thank you for sharing!

@@thejoki04 When I replaced mine I tried to keep the setting as close to the old one as possible. The setting on my switch was very deep. There were only a couple threads exposed before the nut covered them up. And this is from the base of the bolt, right next to the plastic housing. There were only a couple threads between the housing and the nut. The rest of it needed to be threaded down from the nut on the other side, which is a huge pain. You're right that it's an extremely tight space to be working in!

goodish solution, but not safe or legal to do all that while you're driving especially in the UK where its illegal for you to use your phone while driving (even front seat passengers are not allowed to use a mobile phone). Also no one is that quick to turn off cruise control if you suddenly have to brake. There has to be a better solution like Kia actually fixing this problem as I have a 2010 model and it is still not working.

Yeah, you can do this before you set off. Once you do it, your cruise will work like normal & turn off when you press the brakes, or when you press the cancel button on the steering wheel.
