    Turning off the fob will also keep professional thieves from getting your RF code, programing their own fob and stealing your vehicle. I turn mine off all the time once learned about thieves being able to do this. RECAP-Hold down lock button-Press Unlock twice-Release both buttons-Red fob light will flash 4 times indicating it is turning off. Press any button to turn it back on. Thanks for the video.

      Hi, I always use this feature. The thieves use to go to your home to steal your car. From a report I read, now the thieves wait for the right car at the mall for example. Thieve 1 stand by your car, thieve 2 follow you, get the signal, send it to thieve 1, than your car is gone . Turn off your key fob every time you walk away from your car, especially if its one of the most popular to be stolen in your area.

    Great info! One added note about turning off the key faub transmission is that doing that also prevents car thieves from using faub hacking technology to steal the car. If the car is parked in close enough proximity to a house wherein keys are left near the door, the thieves use a program to boost the faub signal between the faub key and car faub, then transfer the code to a new blank faub which allows them to start and drive off with the car. Turning off the faub key protects the car from theft. It’s simple and easy to turn back on.

    We like to create a car binder or add to the existing binder for every car we buy and I like to take a picture and place it all into the binder. Or take pictures and organize it into my emails (by emailing myself). Or organize files on my smart phone. Now I just remove that tiny metal code from the key fob. I think this is an awesome YT channel. I think I might start making YT channels to record longer stuff and set it to private mode or something. Awesome content, thanks. ❤

      touch the lines on the door handle, it will lock immediately. Using the Key FOB it should lock when you Press Lock and not wait on any timer. There is a Timer Setting for Doors to Lock when scrolling through the Infotainment screen. Mine does not appear to work. I have a 2023 Camry XSE V6 fully loaded and I can walk away and the car does not automatically lock. It will stay unlocked 24/7 unless I touch the outer door makings, lock with Key FOB, or via the Toyota App. My wife's 2022 Honda Civic Touring does lock automatically when beyond 15 to 20 feet from the car. Leaving the KeyFOB inside the car, your car screams at you. LOL

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would think it might be from a weak remote battery. If not, I’ve also noticed the key fob has to be pretty close. I’ve had it in my left pocket and had to turn so my leg is right next to the door. I think they really want safety to be in mind so they don’t let the fob work until it’s really close so no one else could open the door when you are nearby

    Nice video and informative. I like that you showed the screens well so we can see what there is and what you are discussing.
    1:10 - "favorite feature" - LOL, so you are on a dark parking lot in a bad section alone. Now all four doors unlock and before you can get in and lock the doors, someone following you/ambushing you can also get in.
    6:11 - Another "smart" feature, unlocking the doors automatically. So you are in the drive-thru ATM and shift to park while getting money. All the doors unlock and some guy jumps in you relieve you of the burden of all that cash.
    All those wacky Toyota software engineers who have never been to America need to make a trip here some day, drive around in one of their new vehicles, especially at night and in inner cities, and see what a great idea they had with these 'features".

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage you can probably get the dealership to enable this function from the obd port

    can you lock the car with the engine on?

    • @michael.barlow
      @michael.barlow 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes but only by removing the physical key and locking it manually. I do this during the summer with the air conditioning running when I'm only going to be gone for a minute or two

      If the key fob looks the same it should. It may depend if you have the transponder or the key

      The tag makes it much easier but they should be able to help at the dealership with 2 keys or sometimes the VIN of the vehicle

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage In our case we are still waiting on the second key....anyone else dealing with this new 2023 feature. I can buy a second one...or wait for Toyota to send me another one around January 2024...kinda ridiculous...if they can sell me one, they could have given me two.

      I disagree. The technology in my 2023 Toyota Rav4 XLE suits me fantastically, plus the app tells me exactly what is happening with my vehicle. What kind of "technology" are you referring to?

    • @andrewkhody
      @andrewkhody 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are 10 years ahead on hybrid tech but they are 10 years behind on infotainment system, bluetooth, remote services, remote start, etc. It's absolute junk that they just upcharged you 3k.

      @@andrewkhody I upgraded from a 2001 Toyota Corolla that is still with the original engine. I only upgraded because I wanted the technology. Say what you want about Toyota, but one thing their cars are NOT is junk. The data and their place in automotive history ought to tell you that. Besides, I would rather have a reliable Toyota that is "behind" on technology than any car loaded with technology that is going to leave me stranded DESPITE all that crap.

    Wish they would shove their "smart key" somewhere the sun doesn't shine. Just a bunch of stuff to not work and cost a fortune to fix. They darned sure aren't built for people that work, or spend much time outside, or on the water !
    The fact you can not lock a 4 runner while it is running and keep it running puts me out of the market for a Toyota ! I love the fact that a new 50k vehicle tells the owner what they can and can't do instead of the other way around !
