    You da man! I pulled out all the leads and tested the fans with a wire to the battery. They worked. I then checked the ground wire and it was fully clipped in, but loose inside. After cleaning and gentle reconnection, the fans came to life! MWA HA HA HA HA!!!!! NO MONEY FOR YOU, KIA SPARE PARTS SHOP!!!!!!

      Where is the ground? I found the Relay switching battery to the module, replaced it, replaced the controller, both fans work directly off 12 volt.

    I have a 2007 Sedona and this happened to me. I replaced the fan module, and it was not the problem. I did find that the bottom connector you talk about was bad. It overheated and was corroded. I cleaned up the ends with a wire brush, and placed some electronic paste on it. I then crimped the fitting to make it tighter. I also took the relay off, and replaced it, ($25 at the dealer). Once everything was on, i reset the code and drove around. It has now been 2 years with no over heating.

    Hey there. Great video! I just recently got a 2006 Kia Sedona LX from a good friend of mine. The A/C doesn't work in it. Don't know if it's the clutch or what. After I watched a different video on TH-cam, I wanted to see if the fans were running. I started the van, looked under the hood. Neither fan runs. The van doesn't overheat. Temp gauge shows a little below half. So the fans only come on at certain times?

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct, the fans only kick on when the engine temp starts to rise. If they don’t kick on when your engine temp rises then you could have an issue like I posted.

    • @tommythomas5299
      @tommythomas5299 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@thejoki04 The temp gauge rises a only to a little under halfway. I can't hear the fans come on but at the same time, I have the blower on full speed. I guess the fans wouldn't come on until the temp gauge started getting towards hot?

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are correct. If you have your a/c on max & your engine temp is not rising to the point that your fans kick on, your fan relays are most likely fine & it’s a problem with the a/c. If u want to test your fans just leave the car running for awhile & eventually they should kick on as the engine temp rises.
      For your a/c I would start by depleting the Freon, then recharging them with some cans from Walmart. I recommend using a warm wash cloth/towel to wrap the a/c cans in while you recharge, shaking them continuously as it will push more Freon. Sometimes if you try to recharge the a/c Freon without depleting it, it may not work.

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  หลายเดือนก่อน

      With your car running and full a/c on blast, you should hear your a/c compressor kick on & off at some point. If it’s low on Freon it probably won’t. Could be a Freon issue, or a bad compressor.

    I just got one of those Van's. What's your opinion of them? Pretty solid good van? It reminds me of an expensive Toyota Van. Mines overheating a bit though. Are the KIA's on Toyota's level?

    • @thejoki04

      I loved the van other than this minor issue which was solved pretty quickly. It was always a strong runner & had a lot of power.

    Thanks for this video, the mechanic said the module was bad but when I checked the ground plug it was corroded and not even plugged in. I'll need to replace that or connect with alligator clips. I am having trouble disconnecting the plug above the ground - do you have any tips on how to do that?

    • @thejoki04

    Thanks for pointing out the relay. The book says it's in the engine fuse box. I had seen the relay but was not sure until i saw your video. My failure is identical to yours except no problems with the passenger fan motor.
    Also, with everything on and working well on the ac, I am getting no voltage out of the module outputs to the fans.

Be really careful taking off the ground wire connector, it's easily broken, mine broke, the one at the wrecking yard was broke too. i found a controller on amazon for 90 bucks that seems to be working ok, no luck with $20 one i got at pick n pull.

    I have a 2012 with neither radiator fan nor AC compressor fan coming on. Shop recommends replacing both fans, coolant temp sensor, and fan relay (controller). I’m thinking to try the relay first- is the compressor fan tied into the same relay? If so, I could see why neither fan works if the relay is bad.

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure if it controls both, but it’s a cheap enough fix to try and see! You could try hard wire fan controller directly from battery to see if that fixes fans, that would tell you if the controller is bad.

    How do you know if it's a hose or coolant fan or what? My issue with this crap is that I literally just don't know how to diagnose the issues!

    • @thejoki04
      @thejoki04  ปีที่แล้ว

      I always start with the “simple” things first, & rule things out by process of elimination. 1. check for coolant - if full u know hoses are prob good, otherwise there’d be a leak that you’d notice. 2. Try to think of how your vehicle acts normally- while it’s running sitting in the driveway, you normally hear the fans kick on once it starts getting warm to help cool the motor- this is what I noticed on the van, that I could not hear the fans kick on as it got hot. This told me there was a fan issue, or a thermostat issue because thermostat plays a big part.

    the lower connection is not ground. It's 12VDC and draws a lot of current (powers both fans). Measuring 12V at the connector does not mean it working (fooled me for days). If the connector cannot pass enough current, the fans won't run. Clean it well and check any upstream splices.

    • @thejoki04
