Hey Chris Fix. May 28, 2024. My cruise control quit working, I replaced the switch and the clock spring per your video and it works perfectly on my 14 yr old 294,000 mile Toyota Tacoma. The dealer I bought it from wanted $1300.00 parts/ labor and 1/2 a day to fix it. With your video and approximately $50.00 parts and 1 hour of my time- DONE ! Thanks a million.
I worked as a car parts counter man before airbags on a car was even a thing. I had never heard of a clock spring on anything but a clock. This video was exactly what I needed. Without this video I wouldn't have ever attempted this repair.

Chris is a mind reader! About to do suspension on my jeep and he uploaded his suspension video while I was doing it, Then my miata needs a new clock spring and the day before he uploads this!
My dad's been working at a parts store for 12 years or so. My daughter had a 2007 Dodge Caliber given to her and I wanted to fix her cruise control, so I bought a cruise control switch and replaced it. Chris, if you see this, I have a big ratchet set and sometime this year (as of 2020) I will try to strip a cheap car for money, it’s all because of how you know all this and have taught me, keep doing what your doing!
You know, I’m only 15 years old (turning 16 January) and I’m somehow considered a professional mechanic. I got to a trade school here where I live. And my teacher yells at me all the time for being smarter than the other kids 😂🤷🏻♀️. I’ve usually worked on cars always with my dad. Multiple types of cars or trucks, from Range Rovers to corvettes. Heck I’ve even worked on Jaguars before. Yet, my dad has tought me a lot about how to work on cars. Chris, to this day. You’re the person that gave me my mind with working with my hands and tools. You’ve tought me how to change your cars fly wheel and clutch and the transmission. To oil changes and everything else. You’ve told me how to use certain tools or alternatives to how to use something if you can’t get the tool. Great minds think alike Chris. And I’m glad you made the man I am today to be able to work with my hands and tools. And I thank you for that. More thank you. More than I ever will be able to. Thank you. 🙏
Hey Chris! It also helps to leave the nut on when removing the steering wheel. When you’re pulling hard on the steering wheel, it will prevent the wheel from hitting you in the face. 😁
This is the exact problem my truck has. I just took it into the dealership because it wasn’t quite lining up in the park position. And felt like it wasn’t going to go into park . This problem was fixed a year and a half ago by adjusting the shifter cable. I figured it would be another adjustment of the shifter cable. However they said there’s no problem. They’ve cleaned it up and slight adjustment and charge $95. I left the dealership and discovered my reverse and drive her right out of alignment now as well as my park. Your video is the exact problem I have which I think I will email to the dealership service department. Thank you so much!
Before I start watching your videos I didn't even know how to changed tires but now I am the family mechanic thanks Chris for everything you are a Godsend
Thank you for your this video brother. I've been watching your vidoes for over 5 years.. Never needed them until this went out in my wifes vehicle. Saved over 1k from going to the stealer ship.
Yo chris, just wanted to say I've been watching you for a while. You're at the top for quality and content. From buying a used car to fixing clock springs- and it's because of you and others I took such an interest in vehicles and understanding them more. So I moved and am going to college. I enrolled in an auto program, trying to soak up as much as I can. I really want to buy a used car to work on, I have a daily but don't want to start with it just yet. Anyways, thanks dude. :) you're a real one.
I'm in college right now and I find myself watching your videos in most of my downtime. I've been bingeing recently and I noticed the change in quality through the years, and I'm glad that your channel is so popular now. My dad is getting more into cars and one time he had an alternator problem and I showed him 2 of your alternator videos and he got it done the next day. Thanks for the awesome quality of the videos and all of the effort that you put in so that we can benefit from your knowledge.
Thank you so much for this informative video, it was kinda amazing how many things it fixed at once. It fixed just about every button on my steering wheel, and also the airbag light. I paid $10.00 plus shipping for a brand new same exact part as a factory clock spring, it even came with a 1 year warranty!! Total savings was well north of $500 from the dealer price parts and labor. Had to buy a couple tools, total cost was about $33.00 tools and parts. An absolutely amazing savings, and was easy due to your comprehensive information. Thanks a million Chris!! My car is a 2008 Toyota Prius, Gen 2.
Thank you Chris; my garage just tried to scam me for 750 euros (in Germany) for parts and labor---your sharing of knowledge and know-how has made my month--thank you so much! !
Thanks Chris for helping out with my dad! His heater wasn’t heating up so he took it to a shop and it was expensive for such a simple fix. I showed him a video you made and he fixed it! He just had to put more coolant in the radiator. So thank you so much for helping us out!
I had an airbag light on in my 2008 Toyota Tacoma and after checking it with the bluedriver, I found out it was the clock spring. Following this video made it so easy to swap it out, Thanks as always Chris!
Chris is the type of dad or older brother every techy wish they had, I had to learn on my own and was blessed with engineers for uncle's and a natural curiosity and determination of how things work, why they work, why it broke, how to fix it, what to do and not to do next time, and how to make it last longer.

Dude your videos are always the best, with clear direction and all possible questions answered! Thank you, your vids have helped me through so many projects. Your the best and thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos, I know it’s a lot.
Dude, I love you. I paid $17 on eBay including tax and shipping. It took me about an hour because I was being very methodical but I think I can do it now in about 15 minutes. You were so thorough but A quick note for your followers: when transferring the sensor to the new clock spring, make sure that middle white circular thing is properly lined up. One side is slightly bigger than the other. Rotate it so the two little square things fit easily or you will waste 10 minutes trying to force it in like me.
Thanks bro, saved a lot of money, in 2024 that clock spring cost $400 at my local Toyota stealership, took your advice and got one online for $23 and it work like a charm!

I actually watched all of your videos a while ago and when my horn stopped working and heard a lot of snapping of wires when turning the steering wheel I new exactly what it was. Thanks for what you do.
Great video! Dealership scammers tried to charge me 140 bucks only for diagnostic! 5 minutes work with OBD scanner you can get for as much as 50 bucks! SO I was looking for good video how to disassemble steering wheel on Prius, to figure out what's wrong with it and this video is brilliant. However you don't have to unplug battery in trunk, since there is main under the hood in fuse box (at the right to engine). It is safer and easier. Also don't forget to reset your Prius completely.

Chris, if you see this, I have a big ratchet set and sometime this year (as of 2020) I will try to strip a cheap car for money, it’s all because of how you know all this and have taught me, keep doing what your doing!
Clicked this so fast, thank you for the quality content as always!
If only all automotive guides had the filming quality that this channel does.
Haha def! Luckily this wheel came right off
😂
DUDE FINALLY I MISSED UR VIDEOS I WATCHED THEM ALLLLL

So what are you wrenchin on nowdays Toby?
That's what I love to hear! Thanks a lot!
Thank you Chris; my garage just tried to scam me for 750 euros (in Germany) for parts and labor---your sharing of knowledge and know-how has made my month--thank you so much! !
I did it. Took 45 minutes....thanks for your videos!
Chris is probably the only TH-camr that actually reads through his conments
4 hours everyday reading and responding to comments!
Project Farm reads all of his too.
Thanks Chris for helping out with my dad! His heater wasn’t heating up so he took it to a shop and it was expensive for such a simple fix. I showed him a video you made and he fixed it! He just had to put more coolant in the radiator. So thank you so much for helping us out!
Awesome!!
Keep an eye on the coolant level, though. There is a reason it was low. As long as you are not having to add coolant every week it should be good.

Its been long since i heard that “hey guys chrisfix here”
Edit: wtf i just said i miss him and i get 700 likes? Thx guys!

Coming here to tell you I just used this video to change the clock spring on my 2012 Malibu! Slightly different setup but a perfect understanding of how the part works. Thank you for all your great content!
I'm glad the video helped you with your Malibu!
Let's be real, we all know why Chris hasn't been posting much lately.
He's been driving his Hummer 24/7 for two months
Leinad this video is old, look at the mustang’s steering wheel its worn out even though he’s refurbished it earlier this year
Leinad bruh this video is actually 2 years old
@@anyone5278 This video is new. He just re-used the clip from the Mustang when he refurbished the steering wheel and edited it into this video.
I wonder if there will be any videos of breaking nuts loose (if you know what I mean NNN)
He put a video 3weeks ago nobody knows
I love the sight of a Prius and a Humvee in the same driveway.
It's always nice seeing a new Chris fix. It's been way too long.
Chris, yours is the only Prius Gen 2 clockspring replacement video on TH-cam that deals with the Steering Angle Sensor. Kudos! There's a reason you have 10 million subscribers. :)
Fabulous vid, pal. I'm 63 and was a mechanic back when we used dinosaurs to pull us around. Last time I pulled a steering wheel, it was unimaginable to not have a wheel puller. Plus, it was daunting to pull an airbag. Didn't wanna kill myself. Think I'll save myself about $450 and rockauto the clockspring and do this my own damn self. Thank you, sir.
I like how happy he is at the end when he is done with his projects, he has a lot of confidence
14:09 is why I am here! Replaced my Clock spring and missed up the Calibration and my back up Camera is angled to the left and my VDC light is on! Thank you for helping me calibrate it!
Straight to the point no BS , I am 92 years old , and don’t have much time to waste , you did a great job . I need to replaced the steering angle switch on my girlfriend’s 2012 Hyundai , I guess after I am done with it , she promised a happy ending .

Great video chris!
Love how informed this man is when his breaking down all the components dealing with removing and replacing anything his working on. Be nice if he did the same for a jeep.
I watched a few Toyota clock spring replacement videos before this, but only after watching your video did it seem so much simpler than the others. Never thought I’d need to do this myself but thanks for the helpful video ChrisFix!

Another awesome "How To" video, Chris. I struggled a bit with the disassembly of all the snap-fit parts, and some of the stubborn connectors, but you gave us just enough info, in a very efficient manner, to git-r done. Many Thanks.
"Out with the old, In with the new" that sounds good!!!!!✌️
Thank you so much Chris ! i got a $17 clock spring off ebay and replaced it yesterday following your awesome guide. had to buy the 19mil socket, torque wrench and the weird multi screw driver :) for another $15 ... took less than an hour event though i went slow taking pics at each step as a precaution. My cruise and info button were not working before and now all back in action. you saved me $145 bro. you are the best !

By underrated you mean almost 10 million subscribers
I'm having the same problem with my 2012 Tundra
where did you buy the clock spring?
Just replaced the clock spring on my Prius myself with a genuine Toyota clock spring for $35!!! Big savings and this video made it extremely easy thanks Chris!!!

If your nut and shaft are aligned you may have some kinda problem 🧐
Replaced the clock spring in our 2012 Toyota 4Runner. This is the best video out there explaining the process without being too complicated. You highlighted everything we need to do this safely and efficiently. Saved $600 even with an OEM clock spring from Partsouq. Thanks!
