@@jacknoe4024 Years ago I was managing a restaurant for some close chef friends. We had an excellent reputation for great food, exceptional service, and providing a wonderful night out. One evening my favourite waitress came to me & told me that a new bloke sitting with a table of lovely regulars was being rude & condescending towards her. I took over her section & waited for the inevitable. Sure as shit, this arsehole decided to do the one thing all servers detest - he snapped his fingers to get my attention. So, with my most dazzling customer service smile I walked over, leaned towards him and hit him with this: "Yes, sir. What would sir like me to do? Roll over, or piss on sir's leg?". The rest of the table (our regulars) lost it & cracked up laughing whole I just kept my smile and looked at him expectantly. To his credit, he sheepishly apologised & I later discovered he'd been warned about doing it previously, and his friends had strongly advised him NOT to try that bullshit with me. This ain't my first time at the hospitality rodeo!

Story 3. What is the deal with karen thinking all servers work everywhere? A little bit back I was at Walmart waiting in the deli, a woman walked up beside me and did a heavy sigh. I ignored her because I thought she was sighing to herself, she did another one and said they are super busy. I said "yep" and went back to my phone, she said "Well aren't you going to do something?" I told her I didn't work there and she said "Oh, I know, you work at this other place but if you work there you can work here too." My facial expressions don't ever use their inside voice so I know she could tell I thought she was a moron from my face. She said she was going to talk to my boss and called her by name. She ended up storming off. My boss never said anything about it so either she didn't actually talk to her or my boss thought she was just crazy .

Once upon a time I was hired to watch a hotel parking lot on Black Friday and keep non-customers from parking there. This one guy pulls up, tells me he works for the government and I have to let him park there. He whips a piece of paper past my face, deliberately going so fast I can't read most of it. But the words 'Border Patrol' jump out at me in bigger letters than the rest. We have an argument that includes the exchange, "I'm gonna call my superior and report you to him!" To which I replied, "By all means, call your superior so I can report YOU for abusing your position." He threw quite a lot of other BS at me, including telling me that he was working undercover ("If that _was_ true then it's not anymore, because you just _blew_ your cover to some random night watchman.") In the end he turned around and got back out.

      @foogod4237 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah, and in most cases, the law doesn't even allow for recovering defense expenses, even if the lawsuit is completely frivolous, so if they did get sued, they'd still have to take time off work, deal with all the paperwork and jumping through all the legal hoops, and possibly even hire their own lawyer to defend them, all out of their own pocket, and not get any of that time/money back in the end.

In the middle of the pandemic, one of our local restaurants got a license to put tables outside in their parking lot, to keep everyone safe. I, and a group of 6 other people, were inside. We all smoked at the time, and we all walked outside and down a sidewalk a bit to have a smoke. The kitchen was backed up and the wait was going to be a bit, which we were fine with. When we got back to our table, one of the owners (we were friends with them) came to our table laughing, because a table of Karens outside had complained to her that maybe the kitchen staff needs to stop smoking and get back to work since the wait was longer than normal. She thought my group was the kitchen staff. The owner had to tell them all that we don't work there. 😂 I guess we ALL gave off line cook vibes, which we have all done in the past, but haven't done in many years.

I work as a cashier at a grocery store and I haven't been the target of something like this, but the amount of times I had to inform customers that our courtesy clerks or other staff can't just suddenly jump on a register to help with the lines is rather high. Like, it isn't just about pressing random buttons, you have to log into the register so it knows who is doing the transaction and they requires them to have access to it, and not everyone working in the store has that access. Some of our courtesy clerks aren't even old enough to work a register as they have to be old enough to sell alcohol in our store.

That his behavior is completely unacceptable and that I hoped that his behavior is not indicative of the behavior of the other lawyers there. Also since he threatened to sue the entire group with him is not allowed on property until after the lawsuit and a copy of this letter and all associated files/accounts are being sent to our lawyers for review to prepare for a counter lawsuit for defamation, harassment, emotional damages, and lost business due to the short term shortage of staff that his behavior caused.

There was a lawyer who filed against several homeowners near me to seize their houses because he didn’t like homeowners complaining about the regional airport across the street where he kept his private plane. His plan was to sue some of the homeowners and then go after the rest of us. He did this on Christmas Eve. He was know as a jackass by EVERYONE. He once let a motorcycle club party all Labor Day weekend at one of his houses to punish the neighbors. Well court date came and the courthouse was full of lawyers wanting to see him go down (they hated him). Judge did not disappoint. Gave him the riot act and awarded damages to the homeowners. 🤣

Not exactly relevant here, but story #4 reminded me of a German language teacher we had in high school. We called her Darth Vader, cuz her name sounded similar. She was a nightmare, everyone stiffened up just at her approach. More strict than a conservative grumpy grandpa. She gave the option however to switch to a different teacher at any time, who taught those whose first language choice wasn't German. Funny thing is, everyone who decided to stay with her graduated with As and a German language degree to boot. Not a single one was left behind and just before graduation, she gave free drinks and home made cookies to all her students and congratulated them all with a wide smile. Told them she's proud of them all.

Reading the comments on the lawyer story I was going to comment that in England he would probably have been in serious trouble with the relevant disciplinary body depending on what type of lawyer. Both Solicitors and Barristers have a disciplinary offence of bringing the profession into disrepute which is a wide catchall offence and covers being convicted of any criminal offence. Harrassing a member of the public would almost certainly be covered.

If the horrible hotel guest really is an attorney and he's threatening lawsuits to bully and intimidate others, he very well may be violating the rules of professional conduct.
If he was just acting like a jerk in public, It might be different. but once he communicates, roughly, that he's lawyer so they all better watch out as he's going to sue them, he is bringing his law license into this. His behavior is then behavior in which he is engaging as an attorney, arguably, and not just behavior in which he is engaging as a private person.
There is no lawsuit that you can file because a stranger won't bring you a beverage at a restaurant where they don't work. The only cause of action that I can think of that has even the most vague resemblence to the situation is negligence.
For negligence, generally someone else to have a duty to the person who wants to sue to do something or not do something, and they have to have failed to fulfill their duty, and that failure has to have caused harm or damages to the person who wants to sue.
First, OP had no duty as to the horrible hotel guest, and in fact she has no duty to do anything at all.
Second, because OP had no duty, there can't be a failure to fulfill her duty.
Also, even if the above were not true, what could he claim as damages? What injury or loss could he claim he incurred?
Maybe there is some cause of action I'm not considering, like "tortious interference with quiche," maybe?
Anyway. If he really is a lawyer, he would be completely aware of this. Even a first year law student would be completely aware of this. The general population might not know this sort of thing, though. So an attorney could use there more extensive knowledge in order to intimidate non-attorneys in a way that is arguably inappropriate and unethical.
For a lawyer to verbally abuse someone like that and threaten to sue them and destroy them financially through this lawsuit would be bad behavior for sure, but when the lawyer knows that he's misrepresenting the law and claiming he has the ability to file a lawsuit against the owner and OP, that looks like he is acting with malice in misrepresenting the law in order to harass, manipulate, and intimidate others.
I don't know what the rules of professional responsibility are in the state where he is admitted to practice law, but if a lawyer behaves that way, there might even be grounds to file a grievance with the attorney licensing body in that state, such as their Bar Association.
I don't intend any of that as lega advice, and I don't intend it as any sort of professional analysis or anything like that. It's always important to speak with a qualified licensed attorney in your state when you have questions regarding the law. This is just something that occurred to me as I was listening to the account. It occurred to me that as obnoxious as this man is, he could maybe get himself in a lot of trouble depending on the rules of professional responsibility in his state.
