People misinterpret the commandment of "Don't take the Lord's name in vain." It really means, don't use God as an excuse or crutch for your horrible actions. The Karens in #2 & #3 are prime examples of it.

Thank you! Not a Christian, but simply invoking a deity by using their name is not using their name in vain! And if God is as loving as they claim he is, why would he get pressed about his name becoming an expression for disbelief, whether that disbelief is just common skepticism or disbelief at a miraculous happening?

Conversion therapy is illegal in most places for a reason. Basically, the aunt was volunteering to sign him up for several months of psychological abuse. It was very awesome of the rest of his family to be so accepting and supportive.

Yet cross-sex hormones and mutilation are supposedly human rights the rest of us should pay for. Not to mention the abuse of parents, being told they have to let the doctors destroy their children or the kid will kill themselves.

    • @foogod4237
      @foogod4237 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

"Conversion therapy" is actually _literally brainwashing._ They use many of the same psychological techniques that are used in espionage and prisoner torture to confuse and manipulate people into compliance and submission against their will. There is effectively no real difference between the two.
Anyone who would do that to their own child, just because they're not living their life the way they want them to, is no parent. They are essentially using the same tactics that terrorists use, within their own family.

I'm a fairly religious person but I swear to God if anyone in my family says the words 'conversion therapy' as an honest suggestion for my kids, they are being cut from my will, getting served a restraining order, and getting more than a few unkind words in spam-level droves. Doubtful it would happen since I'm bi, but I just think I don't get flak cuz I married a woman.

    • @condorboss3339

The evidence also shows that it simply does not work. Not even a little. All that someone learns from it is how to suppress their true feelings so that they can pretend to have changed.
This is not surprising when you realise that the entire concept of conversion therapy is based on a lie. Unfortunately, I can't expand on that without running into the YT automatic filters which are triggered by accurate, clinical language.

My fiance is also Far East Asian, and each time it happened it was other Far East Asians (not from his country though) who had seen him arm and arm with me (white girl), shot me daggers and proceeded to bring their daughters over to him to ask him if he'd date them. They were sooo mad when he told them he was with me, glaring at me angrily the whole time like I'd committed some mortal sin. Been with him over 21 years now and the only racism we've ever had is from Chinese mums lol.

Gay trans girl here. I was in a relationship with a black trans woman a year and a half ago, and neither of us ever got any hate for being an interracial T4T sapphic couple when we were together. Nobody called me a N-word lover or anything. Nor did she get any racist hate for it. She had been married to a white woman years before she transitioned; if they ever got any hate for it, I'm not aware of it.
You don't fall for the ethnicity/race/whatever. You fall for the person. As long as the two of you are happy together, that's all that matters. To hell with anyone who says otherwise.
If I were to date a sapphic Asian girl, I wouldn't care what other Asian people think. I don't care what anybody thinks. As long as she's not a longsword lesbian*, TERF, or transmedicalist, it's all good.
*Longsword lesbians are binary she/her lesbians who refuse to date anyone who's not a binary she/her woman who's exclusively attracted to other women. They won't date bisexual or pansexual women, sapphics on the asexual spectrum, nonbinary lesbians, or pronoun-nonconforming lesbians (such as he/him lesbians). The gay male equivalent is a gravity knife gay. They erase other members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and in doing so, erase themselves as well.

@@rebeccacarr5154 And then you have transmedicalists a.k.a. truscum. These people want to drag us back to the pre-2011 Harry Benjamin rules for treating trans people like me.
Some history: Dr. Harry Benjamin was an endocrinologist and early advocate for transgender people during the 20th century. His work began in the 1940s and continued until his death in 1986. Benjamin created a six-tier scale that he used to group his patients according to their level of sexual dysfunction and misery. If you didn't land on Tier 5 or 6, classified as "True Transsexual" (that was the language used back then), you were often deemed a fake or crossdresser and denied treatment.
Dr. Benjamin's scale was very limiting to trans patients. By his rules, you had to have known you were trans since childhood, have intense physical dysphoria, demand medical transition (including gender-affirming surgery), and be attracted to members of your assigned sex. He believed that transition had to make you straight, not gay, bi, or pansexual. You also had to live as your true gender for at least a year before you could access treatment in those days. A trans woman could risk losing her estrogen if she went to the doctor wearing a t-shirt and jeans instead of a dress. A trans man could lose his testosterone if he didn't act "manly enough" in the eyes of his doctor. And nonbinary people weren't considered.
The old Benjamin scale was thankfully scrapped in 2011 when the WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) adopted a whole new Standards of Care. It helped that they actually consulted trans people this time around. At that point, WPATH started focusing on specific individual symptoms and divorced gender identity from sexual orientation altogether.
If this history makes it sound like transmedicalism is a supremacist concept, that's because it is. Transmedicalists want to reinforce the old Benjamin rules and require more gatekeeping than we have now. They even rail against nonbinary people using the transgender label and want to see fewer people receiving treatment for gender dysphoria, elevating the needs of binary trans people over any other gender identity. This movement began among trans Boomers who resent that the younger generation has easier access to what said Boomers often had to act, lie, and manipulate to achieve. Transmedicalism has spread to younger trans people, unfortunately, especially young trans men. Even transfems aren't immune to this line of thinking (e.g., Blaire White).
If a trans person's first exposure to transness is through a transmedicalist, this can severely set back their own self-confidence and push them deeper into the closet. Transmedicalists will bully and gaslight anyone who doesn't think like they do. They've even been known to tell people, "No, you're not trans."
To any trans person reading this: DO NOT BELIEVE THOSE LIES! They are bully tactics designed to gaslight and minimize people's pain for self-gratification. Don't let transmedicalists try to gatekeep you with their "No true Scotsman" fallacies!

Fun fact: High heels were originally men's shoes. They started in medieval Persia as riding shoes, with the heel hooking into your stirrups when riding a horse. Then they spread into Europe, where noblemen and aristocratic men went apeshit over them. Even as late as the 18th century, men wore heels, including the Founding Fathers of the U.S. It's where we get the expression "well-heeled" from, referring to someone in a position of wealth or authority.
Blame 19th century dandies such as Beau Brummell for ruining men's fashion. Menswear stagnated for over 200 years because of people like him. That and the French Revolution. All the flamboyant men's fashions that were popular among the ancient régime went down the shitter due to the French First Republic and First Empire. If you wore that shit around the Jacobins, they'd have given you the same reaction as if you wore a non-Philly team's jersey into a Philly sports bar. In the U.S., the Great Male Renunciation that started in Europe was associated with American republicanism. Ben Franklin gave up his powdered wig during the American Revolution. Later on, in 1840, Charles Ogle, a Whig congressman from Pennsylvania, gave his Gold Spoon Oration, a speech denouncing the flamboyant lifestyle of Martin Van Buren.

Story 3; the whole thing is creepy. My main retort would be to the other family’s mum. When she says any relationship between a woman and a man is cheating, I would have asked “so how do you feel about your husband cheating on you with me?” Since the two are engaging and not (married) family yet, by the mothers logic it is a relationship. Moreover, he is having relationships with many women, since he probably speaks to a lot of women.

He ain't fooled by some people's 🐂💩 and they're going to get a VERY nasty surprise come Judgement Day. IE, the separation of Sheep from Goats parable.

@@brendanboomhour7606 Yup, Christianity started out as the Cult of Saints, which morphed into Catholicism. Of course, since religions can barely tolerate the ideals of other religions, its inevitable that when one gets too large, disagreements in interpretations of the lore and how they should be applied cause the religion to split and branch out into other denominations. Its all well and good until they try to smear their religion all over you and/or force feed it into the impressionable minds of their offspring.

It sounds like the OP in courtship story are IBLP. I recommend the documentary "Shiny, Happy People if you are interested in learning more about it, on the surface they appear like perfect Christian families but there's a lot of abuse underneath it all.

I learned about a Christian Church who did beautiful praise. But the young people (12 to 18) were raised with a lot of guilt and secret relationships. They all shouted love for the Lord, adults punished eachother harshly when they went off track and all of them had a secret life. They expected at least 10 percent of your pay check

OP in that last story was most definitely rescued. I know people personally who have horror stories about those "cults."
Her being rescued also reminded me: If you go to the animal shelter and rescue a pet, you're a hero. But if you go to the women's shelter looking for a date, that's a problem? 😂

At the point of the mother marching up and demanding a reason why fiance wont date her daughter, I'd've hit her with "well I have my reasons, but a brand new one is: I would never want to marry into a family with YOU in it"

Story 2 I like how the whole family knew and supported him and expected him except that 1 aunt, that’s how family should be in my mind plus sounds like a great fun loving family. For me was when he told his mum and she just hugged him and told him she loved him.
