    I love the Cavalier, it’s a nostalgia thing. It’d be awesome if you would find a good Corsica and a Beretta, that would be epic, and Randy I hate to say it, but that little ‘92 Cavalier is more reliable than your Vette 🥴🤷🏻‍♂️😆😂

    Nice to see it getting some love finally. Yeah, I honestly wouldn’t sell it for awhile if at all. If you like it that much I would do the paint, and some of the interior (dash headliner and such) and just use it as a car for yourself. It would be a great content car throughout the process since nobody sees these anywhere anymore besides a junkyard

      @90s Car guy I bought a 90 RS wagon with the 3.1 roughly 5 months ago in SC to go with my 89 Z24 convertible. Wagon is maroon with tan interior. I'm thinking about a Z24 nose, modifying the ground effects etc to fit the wagon. I have a set that I can sacrifice lol

    • @williamsinger4124
      @williamsinger4124 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @90s Car guy I'm in upstate NY. I have family in the south, as well as out west, so whenever I go visit, I make a point to get hard to find parts for my cavaliers, as well as my Beretta. I have 3 hoods, (one of em matches my wagon) 4 ground effects sets, 2 trunks etc. Those cars are essentially extinct up here so while some think I'm over doing it, well, at least I can rebuild my cars if I get in a wreck.

    • @williamsinger4124
      @williamsinger4124 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @90s Car guy I could write a novel about the parts I have stashed, but, it's nice to meet another person with similar taste. Never know, I may need something from you in the future. I hope Randy contacts you, you probably have a 91-94 tan dash, headliner etc. I'm sure you would help him.

    Money maker when the car sells? No, but what a content car. Those of us who remember when these cars were the back bone of grocery getter's and Mom mobiles and the first new car for many people this is watch worthy to the first degree and for the younger folks who didn't live in those times it will be a time capsule repair of a low mileage car. Great video as always. Thank you.

    The idle misfire could be an IAC(idle air control) valve or a TPS(throttle position sensor) in those older Cavaliers. I kinda remember my dad's 91 Cavalier doing that when he had it.

  • @elmoomle4565
    @elmoomle4565 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I sold a ton of Chevy Cavaliers in the late '80s...big value option with a/c, abs, air bags, auto transmission for the same price as a base, 5 speed, non a/c, non abs, non airbag equipped Civic. Was super easy to 'close' customers with just that one statement. The low interest financing was a no brainer for young families needing a 'new' and roomy 2nd car. Nice memories and happy customers because they knew what they were buying and the price/terms were great. Enjoyed the vid, btw!!

    Thankfully you arrived at HQ without any hiccups. I'm a very heavy set fella but if I could fit in that old Cavalier I'd be very happy to drive her. For my own peace of mind I believe I would've done a tune up and changed all the fluids before that little road trip as well as inspecting the brakes and most everything else. Show that ol' girl some love and I'm confident she'll be good to you in return. God bless y'all.

    I wrote about this 92 before but didn’t know about the at idle miss. We owned a 94(same exact everything), we encountered the same issue. IF IT TURNS OUT ITS NOT OLD GAS, pull the EGR valve(super easy) and see if carbon has it cracked open. Just trying to help based on personal experience on one. Great cars, nothing fancy but it does what it was built to do and does it very well. Have a good one.

    love you choice of music for the time lapses. the cavalier is a awesome little car. one of my friends had a green Corsica and it was one hell off a car. very reliable, always started and got him where he need to go. it was semi low mileage too, like 100k to 140k it did burn a quart of oil per gas tank fill. but oil is cheap and he always added oil to it. loved the car very nice and reliable. but sadly it got totaled in a hit and run. but then he got a 1999 Lincoln town car from his friend and he is driving that car now. miss that Corsica, i always liked that color of green.

    80s and 90s had some great body styles. It reminds me of the Mitsi Gallant shape. You should do it up over time. No rush. It can be one of your reliable runners when you need a chase car for Copart pickups. BTW, it's Autumn here in NZ so getting colder and wetter just like OK right now. We had a massive long hot summer so I'm not complaining

    Randy! Make a video on how to fix those small rust spots. If the Cavalier won't bring money, it at least has the potential to bring more content. I think with $25 worth of sand paper (or a wire brush attachment for a rotary tool), filler and rattle can paint you can fix it.

    Thoughts on the Cavalier. Tires, Headliner shop, maybe $125? Pull the dash, and slather adhesive, and use a board and C-clamps so it will bond. Dye spray (or a dash cover) Leave the paint. Weird Beard may be able to buff it so it looks nice. Honestly, it is maybe $1,200-$1,300 car for a person who just wants point a to b,c,d.

    I refurbish Adcom GFA-565 amps, and use Simple Green to ultrasonically clean circuit boards. This thing does wonder and washes the acidic deposit of the failed capacitors. Simple Green has many uses. 🤗🤗🤗 I also had a 1991 Cavalier RS 3.1 V6. It's been my best car ever. Had it 17 years. Only brakes and mufflers + normal maintenance. Here in Quebec, rust kills our cars. My dashboard was still pristine, no cracks whatsoever. Headliner was still pristine, seats perfect condition. But the body seams were rusted through on the firewall... water was entering the car, and that was the end of it. Engine was still running perfectly. 😥 Wish I could buy a rust free RS/Z24 3.1 Cavalier. I would jump on it like a wolf on a pork chop. Mine went to the graveyard at 80000 miles (123000Km)

    Good job cleaning the engine and the car. Paint look pretty good 👍👍. You can get cheap seats and interior from the junkyard 👏👏.

    Not surprised at all. The "Iron Duke" 2.2 is a rock solid motor just has no power. Used to drive across NE Ohio 180 miles round trip in the summer with no issues and 40 mpg as long as AC was off. Only had one issue with blown head gasket which was fixed with a replacement head in under 2 hours.
    These engines have been a stable of GM cars since the 70s (maybe earlier) good for mpg but 0-60 is measured in hours not minutes. That being said, this is a 1992 so its probably TBI.. After putting some fresh gas in would check to see if the injector is spraying a nice pattern into the basket.
    86 and up had electronic ignition so there should not be a distributor (there is a plug with an idler gear in the spot where the distributor would have bolted in on older models--this can leak oil!). Instead it has coil packs that sit on an ignition module bolted to the block. Colis are known to crack and cause misfires at low idle as well as the spark plug wire routing can lead to cracks and voltage loss. Probably would be worth doing a set of plugs and wires since they can be had cheaply.
    Also, these are pushrod motors so possible you may need a valve adjustment. From personal experience, its easy and you can probably have it done in 30 minutes including pulling the valve cover.
    Its amazing that this one has ABS on it. Any other options like AC, power windows/locks? This looks like a step above the base CL model but still a plain jane Cavalier. Glad you are trying to save it but dont try too hard. Many of these things are long dead and in junkyards for a reason. Only reason it hasnt rusted apart is due to being down south in Oklahoma. Up here that car would be an orange spot.

    I prefer to drive these plain older cars to more exotic ones as long as they are reliable and readonably easy to keep on the road.I really don"t like the fact that most are fwd but that"s what cars after 85 are.I enjoy projects like this . Thx.

    I love the older vehicles. An idea though; I'm fairly new to the channel & I'd love to see a video on your camaro & maybe more on the tesla. I know the corvette can't be spoken of so...
