- We picked this 1977 Chevrolet Country Squire motorhome on an online auction this winter based on 3 or 4 crappy pictures. Lets see if we can get the small block V8 fired up and running for the first time since 2008. I was watching a video from Puddin' and he said you were expecting your first child. Congratulations!!! Abandoned for 15 years? I bet that smells so bad....lol Thank goodness it is so cold. I want to find a very old mack or Diamond REO around summer time and make it into a flatbed so I can mount my Bobcat 225, Drill press, crane and welding table to it. I'm from elkhart and I've been building motor homes for 35 years. They have improved so much in that time and you were right on the money with your description.

@@smarternu you are right, they were a good lookin unit. One of my friends has one. He put a hardwood floor in it made out of scrap pallets. All the colours and different woods made a beautiful floor.

@@chrischille3930 I've been hooking up to trailers without a camera since 1976. Still don't need one. My car doesn't have ABS or air bags either. I learned to drive before they even invented that stuff. If you need a camera to hook up a trailer, you shouldn't be pulling one.
@@MaxNafeHorsemanship My rig don't have a B/U cam either. I use the mirrors also. My friends and Brother have new rigs with cams and love them. Easy hook up.

I've commented on your utube, a hundred and fifty times,but weirdly this is the thing I know alot about. I grew up in Mt lived in Malta, mabee that's what keeps me watching. It's so fn cold there.. now I'm the pizza guy in Oregon,I vote 4 duff, own 5 trucks and 2 shity car's. Sportsmobile super conversion van Co. From Cali. Got ripped off by westfalia in the mid 60s. And that's why early micro bus pop tops go straight up.

Hi Mortske. To change the fuel pumps on the SBB Chevy's I used to use grease to pack the rod to the camshaft to hold it in place long enough to get the fuel pump installed. Always worked for me. Thanks for the fun videos and let Duff know he is doing his job well!

@@MortskeRepair and lube the carb throttle cable and choke rods etc on carb throttle cable stiffens up and the throttle cable is hard and stiff to press on
And you can pull bolt out of front of block..stick a screwdriver in hole to hold pushrod up then put pump on easy peesy👍

The funniest video yet. Puddin cant hold a candle to this one Mort. The dog house falling on the dog , wasn`t funny, but it was. Sorry duff. You did do wheelies man. All ya need is a half dozen buddie heaters and a bunch of tee fittings and hose to hook em all up and spread them all around inside the 'coach" and you can stay in it inside the shop on those nights when you get snowed in and cant make it home. Just think how much you will save in gas going home , plus the home heating oil savings , SCORE!!!! ( you got a half a tank of prpane just setting under there, use it!!!)
Grandad had a triple axle Avion in the 70's and 80's. Was a cheaper Airstream alternative. Was a nice unit, he was big outdoorsman and a damn good fisherman.

Your mind is a hard drive full of automotive knowledge (not to mention all the Kubota and other stuff you work on and dont show us). I love all your videos and I used to steam clean engines as part of my job and I would suggest trying alunmium foil formed around distributor and carb you might be surprised how well it works.

Those GMC motorhomes were innovative with that modular transaxle powerplant. There's still a big following for those. Poor Duff took a shot from the doghouse but took it like a dog. 👊🐶

Woven paper plate holders are a good and useful thing. The paper plate won't fold under your 1/3 lb burger, chips and pickle! Or you cake, or pie. I won't use a paper plate without one.

Hay Puddin is looking for a engine and transmission for his station wagon! I believe, he wood pay for the motor home and take the engine and transmission and leave the remnants with you. That's how I see it going down, maybe not if he looks around at that Chevy car he has that may work as well. Just saying, we love seeing you two working together. Oh forgot its is not winter down south were Puddin lives in Pott county, love it!

Hey Mortske,
One effective way to deal with that push rod when installing the fuel pump on a small block Chevy is to put a small dab of petroleum jelly on the innermost end and around the circumference of the end of the shaft and then insert it. The suction created with the use of the petroleum jelly will hold the push rod in place without the hassle that it will slide out and then install the pump. It works really well.

Damn, great video. My father in law had a similar motor home. He also had a full size van, had someone cut the top off and morphed a truck camper top to it, he didn’t keep it long, fun the look at.

You've almost got the wrecker hooked up correctly, you still need to hook the chains (upper ends) to each other so they don't fly around and damage anything.
If you ever have a problem with vapor locking, the 3port fuel pumps will cure it.

It is funny how you say that 350 engines too small for that RV and it's overworked? My sister had the same size RV but it was a Ford front end and it had the 460 in it. It had plenty of power to pull whatever you needed to with the 460 big block.

I have a 1-off 1984 Barth Glassnose Chevrolet conversion. 454 cid Formerly owned by Bose Corp (the speaker folks) as a concert support vehicle, before Bose had offices. Needs a complete rebuild ($250k+)

Indiana = many vehicle related factories. I assume due to it's proximity to Detroit mayhaps? Fisher Body has or had a number of plants there. AC Delco / Delco Remy = a number of locations in Indiana. Muncie of course. My work transfered me to a facility in Marion Indiana years back. There was automotive there everywhere. Wabash I think was big rig territory. My time there is 2 decades ago and downsizing and closures was going on. Yes, Elkhart had a number of facilities. I know at one time at least 2 utility coach companies (hearse, ambulance, etc) operated around Elkhart. So ends my contribution to the more you know plus the algorithm bump. Those 70's motorhome 350's were pretty good with TH400, beats getting one oozing rust in the cylinders, not that we don't enjoy seeing flames shooting out the valve train. Not easy whipping up content during arctic cold temps, you must live close to DD Speed shop, southern Cunuckastan. Ha!!!
I could see myself living in that thing in the Mojave Desert all winter. I lived in a 1971 Dodge MH for 18 months in 2004-5. A 200-sq. ft studio apt 2005-7. And a 21 ft travel trailer in 2011-12. Life in the ghetto.
