You damn right I'm going to watch a 52 minute Suicine video even though i don't play Competitive.
such is the magic of FSG's videos. really wish they would take ten seconds to verbally state the stat spread and release these as a podcast, because they're great listening while doing other things
Just be careful of the PTSD frames at 3:56.
You and me both.
@@Lassoloc I mean, I don't want to be mean (I dunno, people take things too sensitive these days whatever some ppl say) - but why cannot people do a little bit of their own research and try and experiment for themselves? Like the OG Pros did? It will only make you a better player since you are now dipping into this Pool (of Competitives.) It's like asking an award-Winning Chef for his recipe just like that. I really really hope Arcanine gets a remake video.
I think it's the pokemon who needs one the most aside from maybe gengar.

Been waiting forever for Gengar; especially every October 31st
@@carlosguerrero6501surprising considering it’s quad weaknesses to Water and Ground.
Dragonite!!! This mon deserves it more than thr ones quoted. It has aged so well, from adding pokemon abilities to Terra, every new game addition made it better and better.
Suicune really was the ultimate wall back in Gen 3. Too bad the only one you could legally get your hands on back then without Colosseum always had 3 IVs of 0, which is why I named mine “Suican’t” in those days.
Not entirely true as Suicune could also be obtained in Colosseum where the Roamer IV bug wasn't an issue.
I got mine from firered back in the day because I had charmander as my starter 😊.
Similarly, in Generation 2, male Pokémon can have an Attack IV up to 15, while female Pokémon can only go up to 11-unless they are female-only Pokémon.
@LuigiTheMetal64 In gen 2, gender was determined by the Atk DV + the species’ gender ratio with males having better attack than females. For a species with 50/50 gender ratio, the lowest DV a male can have was 8 and the highest a female could have was 7. Species like Ninetales that are 75% female have a max Atk for females being 11 and minimum Atk for males be 12, while starters which are 87% male have females with a max Atk DV of 1 and males a minimum of 2. Genderless and mono-gendered species could have Atk DVs anywhere from 0-15.
@@FireFog44so essentially, the only female pokemon competitively viable were either those with a 100% chance to be female, or dedicated special attackers?
I still imagine that scene from Jurassic World where Chris Pratt is surrounded by the 3 velociraptors but instead of the velociraptors it's 3 Walking Wakes
And then he starts dancing to "Come and get your love"

Water only being weak to grass and electric has always been too good. Because of that, it's the main reason why grass and electric attacks get used. And back when grass and electric were exclusively special moves, that meant specially defensive water types like Calm Mind Suicune had it even better.
I honestly think water should be weak to poison now
“BOLD SUICUNE HAS NO WEAK.”
It should've been weak to poison in the first place, not only that is very thematically fitting, its also a physical type, so in old gens water can't just tank everything without worry. It just shows how water was and still is TOO convenient of a type, whereas poison was so fucking bad only SE to grass.
Water - Weak to 2, resists 4
Fire - Weak to 3, resists 6
Grass - Weak to 5, resists 10!... oh, wait.. no, sorry... Grass only resists 4...
@@yungmuney5903 and fairy is perfectly balanced compared to water.
It really sucks that Absolute Zero/Sheer Cold got changed since Generation 7 where it loses accuracy when used by Suicune or Kyogre for being Water-types. Even the description change sucks.
But Tera Ice in gen 9 fixes that.

Interesting for this to come out before we get to see how Walking Wake fairs in Regulation F VGC.
I know, Kellen really tried to get these videos out before all of FSG knew that they would have to make longer videos. Lando, Heatran, the swords of justice and Latios. I don't think anyone knew about Kyurem coming back until the indigo disk
I'm glad Terrakion didn't come out this year.
Even normal suicune seems very usable

Sun teams getting a fire water grass core in gen 9 was certainly unexpected. And considering how much of a staple groudon and kyogre are in restricted formats wake is going to fit right in. Koridon also has a lot of potential as a sun setter that also gets an attack buff in restricted formats. Wake is not only a sun mon but also a great counter to sun. So I expect it to thrive

Happy to be mentioned in this video! Of maybe particular interest is that in the finals of 2013 Houston, game 2 came down to Suicune vs Suicune, which I was able to win thanks to Rest and VGC's timer rules. Flattered to be included in Pokemon history!
It's always been weird to me they give so much more love to Suicune than the other beast and it's nothing like Charizard. They gave it more love out of nowhere, but I have to say it has the best design
It’s the mascot of Pokémon crystal, so it’s gotta have a little extra love put into it
That's exactly what I find strange, I understand that there had to be a third version, but why Suicune. Ho-oh was all the trio master why not focus on all three that would have been much cooler
Yeah but Entei got a sick movie
@@hitmanx200didn’t Raikou get Scald recently too? That’s a great move for a mono electric mon.
@@hitmanx200Wasn't Suicune prominent in like 2 movies?
If this means a remake of Entei, I’m game. Since it’s had much more competitive success than just being “The bad Johto Beast”
Depending on the format, it could be considered the best of the three (like VGC).
Giving it Sacred Fire helped quite a bit.
@@donovanchilton5817And now it has a paradox variant too which gives it some new potential
Also helps that Inner Focus makes it immune to Intimidate
Majestic and iconic beast, imposible to dislike this pokemon.
If you’ve ever played against a suicune, you’ll understand how easy it is to dislike it lol
Another wonderful video. Hats off to FSG's commitment to Pokemon analysis and here's to the New Year with more in store.
Suicune is definitely my favourite of the legendary beasts. Beautiful design.
I forgot which, but I did mention this on another video. I've never been one for competitive pokémon. And on the whole, I only understand everything you're talking about at a base level. That said, just putting on and casually listening to these videos is always both fascinating and strangely relaxing.
Bulky water types always makes me think that grass types should've been the bulky ones since it makes sense with them being support type pokemon and grass types already got a lot of weaknesses so the water type doesn't need more buffs and could use a nerf that isn't ice.
Glad to see ADV Revival being showcased here

14:41 hey it’s me!!
Can’t wait to see Walking Wake on sun teams in VGC soon, especially once Groudon is allowed. I can’t definitely see a team of Groudon, Walking Wake, Venusaur, Flutter Mane, & Incineroar becoming popular.

Max speed Timid venu hits 145 speed,it won't outspeed Booster speed flutter and bundle in sun
Don't forget raging bolt, chi-yu, and gouging fire and possibly hearthflame ogerpon
@arafzaman760 but Venusaur can utilize Ground moves and Weather Ball. Not to mention Chlorophyll

47:22 Slight mistake, Walking Wake is Dragon/Water type instead of water mono
Few things can top that rush of excitement and fear of running into one of the 3 beats as a kid in GSC. They were SO difficult to get.. probably why they are my favorite legends. They still have that... elusive feel to them.
Spitting nothing but facts. So happy to see my favorite Pokémon competitively explained.🌊🌊

I like that you're adding the Paradoxes apart of their original forms, very nice choice
as Blunder puts it, Walking Wake is “The First Mon with Three Types” with that sun boosted proto boosted flamethrower lmao
Nah that would be Koraidon because it set's it's own sun when entering battle and then gets the proto boost...

I really like Wake’s section, yall did a perfect job on that analysis
That calm mind rest sleep talk set is why I ALWAYS run toxic and taunt on my teams.
Honestly shocked that this isnt an hour long
I mean it almost is lol
It almost is, its just about 7-8 mins short of it
It would’ve been, but Suicune pressured BKC and Zane during the scriptwriting process and they ran out of PP.
@@Resener1 Genius
I'm surprised Inner Focus wasn't mentioned regarding VGC Suicune. It was useless in Singles, but having a flinch immunity in Doubles was really good for it when it finally released. Being able to set Tailwind without succumbing to a Fake Out flinch was much more beneficial than Pressure.
Can’t wait to see how either of Cro or Vincune fair in Gen 9!
Thank you, FSG!
Another GREAT remake! 👍
Great! Now I dare you to do the rest within 2 months.
Edit: Make it a year.
Raging Bolt and Gouging Fire just came out. I think we should wait near the end of 2024.
@@skeetermania3202 Good point. I can wait until then. Keep in mind though. Not many people are this patient.
YOO LETS GO you included walking wake

Toxapex can wall walking wake even with the special attack boost and sun. In fact, it can switch into a terra walking wake in the sun and wall it until the sun stops as long as it doesn't have a special attack boosting nature.
It's hilarious how this Pokémon with a huge crystal on its head and ice type appearance is not an ice type.
40:32 I love the mouse popping out on the terrakion there lol

Patiently waiting for a video on Basculin and Basculegion.
Always been one of my favourites. Transferred one from VC Crystal to use on SW/SH. Really need to finish Scarlet and put it on there.
Wow, this one was pretty crystal clear!
Suicune was one cool Pokémon!
I started playing on showdown not long after the crowned tundra released, and one of the sets I just came up with was sub, protect, CM Suicune. Nice to see something I thought up was actually a notoriously frustrating set.
What was your last slot?
So Volcarona (and its paradox forms) might be getting a remake from what we’re seeing now? I can’t wait to see how it goes
In a year maybe lol. Volcarona has been releases wayy to early for a remake vid imo. Slitherwing isn't that good, and isn't comparable to volcarona in the slithest, while walking wake is more of a direct, offensive upgrade to suicune

These are great as always, but when you have a Pokémon who has fairly wide usage the sections where you list PLAYERNAME, PLACEMENT for minutes on end, i mash on fast forward until we're back in the analysis
man youve nailed the names
btw for walking wake. it being part of sun teams with other mons like heartflame ogerpon, chi-yu, venasaur, raging bolt, gouging fire, great tusk, roaring moon, torkoal and so on shows that sun teams in the current era are nuts. heck right now walking wake to most people is tame compared to the other 2 and during pre home-end of teal mask people thought walking wake was a bit overpowered

New theorem idea, when power creep doesn't always affect a Pokemon, also called the Gliscor theorem
I remember in gen 7 i experienced my first vincune ever and it annoyed me to the point that the next time someone wanted to have a UU battle...i brought a cacturne
Yo Pokkén mention no way (great video!!)
No matter how good it may be, I'll never use Suicune because I can't unsee that butt scarf
580 stat total (almost psudeo legendary) with tank mentality is never taken lightly, especially with natures.
its always funny but scary too when u see a 3 times generation ou titan get sent to uu by ferrothorn
also great to see how gamefreak in gen 9 transformed a bulky mon into an hyper offensive cannon
I played Pokken competitively for 3 or 4 years and I think the way Suicune fit into the meta in that game was very interesting! From 2016 to 2017, on the Wii U edition of the game Suicune was very dominant in tournament play. While people were learning the game and its systems, Suicune had very strong keepaway and high damage; and since players weren't very good yet they couldn't effectively exploit its weaknesses yet. Come 2018 onward though, it had a lot of glaring flaws like slow moves that were unsafe on block and a collection of bad matchups against the top tiers.
When Pokken DX released, Suicune got significant buffs that patched up its bad matchups and brought it up to be a solid mid tier. High damage and good keepaway with lots of ways to prey on a players reaction speed. It's probably the easiest zoner in the game to pick up, but its also very technical still since confirming single hits with small cancel windows is very difficult. Suicune is a very neat defensive character for sure.
weird i always heard it as "calm mind suicune has no weak"
Even tho I have never played a game of ADV OU, after watching ADV Revival, I feel like I know everything that’s going on in the gen 3 discussion
When a single pokemon through multiple generations doesn't drop down or completely fall off usage when the meta changes but instead just adapts and then is right back to being the same old same old that it had previously been without missing a beat. That is what it truly means, in my opinion, to the absolute testimate in which a pokemon can stand the test of time! Way to go, "the north wind", congratulations to living up the title of> legendary. Ho-oh would be proud!!
These are fun to watch at half speed
One of my all time favorite Pokemon.
One of my earliest competitive pokemon memories is getting destroyed by a CroCune on Shoddy Battle back in 2010 during the HGSS days. Crazy to think that was over a decade ago.

Walking Wake, more like Walking on your enemies.
In National Dex. Walking Wake is banned for being so hard to switch into since weather teams are a lot stronger here.
