This made me realize how much I have been missing by not trying to complete the side series games of Stadium, Colosseum, and Battle Revolution. Some of those trainers are completely stacked.
Playing Battle Revolution as a kid, walking into the Mysterio fight was brutal. I was not ready for Water Spout Scarf Kyogre. As soon as you started revealing spinoff titles, I knew this guy was taking the top spot.
FINALLY someone acknowledges Mysterial on a strongest NPCs list. I've done that set 8 battle many times, with several wins, and far more losses. I was worried when I started the video he was gonna stick to main series, but nope! There's my favorite obese magician in all his overpowered glory.
gen 3's NPC strats are some of the most heinous, vile, nefarious sets I've ever seen in my entire life. Like, later gens had all these cool competitive sets or anti-meta sets that're based off the pokemon's strengths or weaknesses, like Cynthia having a yache berry on Garchomp or a choice specs on Nidoking on Giovanni's team, but the Battle Frontier has NO such honor or creativity. There's Blisseys, Snorlaxes, and Dusclops running around with double team and toxic, and all of the high win streak pokemon will eventually just be legendaries and pseudos. I once barely took down a Tyranitar only to despair at the Zapdos that came in right afterwards. And don't forget the built-in counter-teaming in the Frontier specifically, where you're more and more likely to run into sets designed to hard check or counter your team the more you win. Codel is no exception. Gen 3's NPCs are devious mfers that don't give a good gosh dang about your win streak or team comp. They WILL cheese you and you WILL hold that L.
Mysterial also has a different team that kind of mixes rain and sun together if you're using a rental pass, which is Kyogre, Groudon, Latios, Mewtwo, Lugia, and Cresselia.
Once I heard about this concept, I knew Set 8 Mysterial had to be somewhere on this list. His teams, specifically his rain team is absolutely ridiculous.
Finally Mysterial gets the recognition he deserves. Now imagine trying to beat it without transfering pokemon from the main games, it was possible tho thanks to the trade stadium but even then they dont give you a single uber like pokemon so good luck.
Just for those interested Rental Mysterial has Chesto Resto Cresselia, Choice Scarf Water Spout Kyorge, Quick Claw Groudon, Soul Dew Latios, Leftovers Lugia, and Brightpowder Mewtwo.
I think I remember hearing a headcanon that Mysterial was Cynthia's mentor at some point in the past, and it's one I love GG Mysterial, getting the recognition he deserves
Loved seeing Battle Revolution getting some love and attention. Mysterial is far and away the most powerful trainer ever, so much has to go right for you to even reach him let alone beat him
flutter mane is a very fun pokemon to play against. Not only has it stats that make several ubers look like UU pokemon, it also has a STAB combination that is resisted by a grand total of 4 pokemon ... Pyroar, Grafaiai and their pre-evolutions, respectively ....yeah, so basically, Flutter Mane has perfect STAB coverage, lol.
Leon was hard for me but that's because he's 5 levels higher than the other tournament participants and I refused to farm XP candies to give myself a proper challenge
I don't know, I feel like he was one of the tougher Champions. He has a pretty stacked team of heavy hitters and his Charizard can catch you off guard the first time with Max Overgrowth.
As much as it pains me to not see Cynthia on this list at all (and also get gaslighted at the very end), I’m overjoyed that Mysterial got some huge love as number 1. Pokémon Battle Revolution was one of my favorite Pokémon games and I’m glad you didn’t forget about him 🎉🎉🎉

Codel is out here playing VGC like golf. He has one goal:
*Play as little VGC as possible per game*
Loved this video. I went into it wondering "are they going to mention that overpowered legendary hat dude from Battle Revolution?"
I find it funny that the one person here for moveset alone is because he tries his damnedest to kamikaze every Pokemon on screen that isn't Dusklops.
FINALLY someone acknowledges Mysterial on a strongest NPCs list. I've done that set 8 battle many times, with several wins, and far more losses. I was worried when I started the video he was gonna stick to main series, but nope! There's my favorite obese magician in all his overpowered glory.
Codel's team is so friggin funny, I might have to give it a try and see how mad people get
Mysterial: 1400 elo Anything Goes teambuilder
Codal: 1800 elo Anything Goes teambuilder
codel's team is so hilarious, chadest npc ever
gen 3's NPC strats are some of the most heinous, vile, nefarious sets I've ever seen in my entire life.
I think I remember hearing a headcanon that Mysterial was Cynthia's mentor at some point in the past, and it's one I love
GG Mysterial, getting the recognition he deserves
His teams broke for sure. But Mysterial is talking a lot of smack for a guy without explosion resists.
I think there is a video or two on TH-cam of people beating him with only Rentals, so it is possible.
'Which Champion is the best competitively?"
And my immediate thought was "Probably the one with the Gen 4 Garchomp."
"You call doing nothing but Explosion a battle strategy?"
Codel: "Hey, as long as it works."
Loved seeing Battle Revolution getting some love and attention. Mysterial is far and away the most powerful trainer ever, so much has to go right for you to even reach him let alone beat him
Codel: "So anyway, I started blasting!"
All I took from this is that the Spinoffs do whatever they want. Nobody can stop them.
spinoff NPC's are crazy, would love a list of only gyms and elite four of main games
Seeing Mysterial again after all these years, I still get cold sweats.
So glad to see my man Mysterial featured. I always knew he was extremely tough!
Bruh codel is just emerald kaizo in human form
There is one thing you could do: Detect exists in gen three and Imprison won't hit it. Alternatively, you can use Dig or Fly to avoid Explosion.
flutter mane is a very fun pokemon to play against. Not only has it stats that make several ubers look like UU pokemon, it also has a STAB combination that is resisted by a grand total of 4 pokemon
... Pyroar, Grafaiai and their pre-evolutions, respectively ....yeah, so basically, Flutter Mane has perfect STAB coverage, lol.
Spamming Explosion is so evil and genius
I seriously need some Codel fan art now. The man is the equivalent of a competitive troller
They keep telling us Leon is peak when he is actually CHEEKS 😂🎉
I never got the hype around Leon being a difficult champion.
Pokémon Battle Revolution was one of my favorite Pokémon games and I’m glad you didn’t forget about him 🎉🎉🎉
she still is better than the rest 4 her bdsp version. This guy is a woman hater
This would be a cool battle format! Kinda like team rentals, but you have to use teams that actual NPCs have used in past games.
Ayo I could tell wolf wrote some parts of this, "food stamp pokemon" lmao, great video, subscribed!
10:00 I actually had to pause to fully take in that crazy team.
Is that a Soul Dew Latios?! Kyogre and Rayquaza? Swarm Salac Berry Heracross? A Brightpowder what I'm assuming is bulky Latias?
Nah, someone stop that old man....
And his brother too....
I did not know about all these wacky trainers in the 3D spin off battle games.
They BARELY have any TH-cam videos as well, that’s how so little known they are.
Codel is Mr Torgue
EEEEEEEEEXXXPLOOOOOSSSSIOOOON
I see you’re a borderlands fan. I too enjoy the finer things in life
Battle revolution was a crazy game. I remember there was a guy in doubles with a mew with skill swap and transform and a regigigas trying to get two non-slow start regigigas on the field XD
There was a trainer with Encore + Disable...
And another trainer who's entire strategy revolved around Blissey using Gravity.
This is the most false swipe gaming thumbnail of all time🔥
Mysteryal is so strong he forced me to learn about evs, ivs and natures
Dude was so strong I got swept even with hacked Pokémon. He really is in a league of his own.
@@ChibugaYeah, I'm glad they were crazy enough to put such a battle in the game lol
@@150alv yeah I just wish a battle frontier or colosseum with crazy rules/challenges was put in new games. So many of them have such a stale-post game battle wise now.
Fun video idea, I like it! Also appreciate the continued VGC mentions in your videos.
Keep up the wonderful video ideas.
Codel be like- I don't have to win, we both just have to lose 💀
You are about to fight in a VGC tournament that gives you restricted acces to legendaries:
Everyone else: Takes advantage of restrictions and builds a team around them
Codel:
- Explosion
- Various annoying items
- Protect + Imprison
Loved this video. Especially having the Stadium, Coliseum, and Battle Revolution love
I hate that suzuki yusuke has 4 pokemon with double team. I can't imagine how painful it was to fight him while he had momentum.
There's a trainer early on in either colosseum or XD, I forget, that has double team on every pokemon, Sandstorm, some pokemon with Sand Veil and a pokemon with Ingrain. It can potentially be pretty rude lol.
@@Arras01 at least you can out level that trainer
@@Arras01 XD Orre Colosseum, round 2 battle 1.
God I hate that I remember that.
Infin and Inity are fought in the Orre Colosseum, not in Mount Battle (though clearing Mount Battle IS a requirement to unlock the final Colosseum).
They're fought in both lol. Infin and Inity are the final bosses of Mt. Battle in Battle Mode (the one you have to complete to get Ho-oh, not the story mode version), as well as the lvl 100 version of Orre Colosseum.
I was so happy when i heard the Colosseum theme. So pleased to see then represented.
Edit: I cackled madly the moment i say Codel team. The Colosseum devs were evil.
Edit 2: I love thst Colosseums endgame challenge trainers got three slots on this list. That gane has such wild teams
FSG is gonna single-handedly spike the search interest of Codel
I fear for how the rest of the Internet will react to Codel.
The upper part of those lists are like tobias
You ask "who the hell is that random" only to show up with a team of mostly legendaries
I didn't expect the stadium and co games to be included, but just goes to show how good the genius sonority games are. These guys knew, they pushed things to the limit. Even the slaking meme I can respect, it's not on the power lv of the rest of the team but it's still a threat. And Codel is just... Such a chad. Great video!
Never heard of the Colosseum teams but wow those are strong teams
This video was awesome! Well done! Lots of fun
When Cynthia appeared on screen, I rolled my eyes and groaned; she's strong but she's not THAT strong (we were 10 when we played DPP for the 1st time, oc she felt like the strongest). But when the true strongest appeared, I was happy, bc I played BR and I knew "he" must be the N°1
I feel like "we were 10" could go for literally every trainer not in a Stadium-like game. With the advent of age, familiarity with the series, Bulbapedia and the ability to use more than 3 items per battle, almost no fight in Pokemon is hard per se.
@@castform7Lots of people pre-scarlet/violet don't touch pokemon postgame facilities and it shows, even for sidegames like colosseum/XD (that should be mainline games according to how gamefreak treats each pokemon rpg game on the switch) they want a harder difficulty but don't like a fairer ground (can't use items, both team trainers have the same lvl, etc).
ok woman hater leon red fanboy. Her BDSP version is stronger than other champions
@@castform7 I still found mysterial pretty difficult (never actually beat him but I don't feel like digging up my Wii again just to fight him again). Granted, I didn't want to use legendaries so I was handicapping myself, but still
Her BDSP Team is pretty much the same as in the original games and statistically looses to Geetas team... and no I am not talking about Geetas revised version in Blueberry
Most of the trainers on this list: *use Pokemon with strategies that fit in competitive play*
Codel: *Sr Pelo boom sound effect*
Honestly Indigo disk Kieran is a safe bet
