From my perspective as a black woman raised by another black woman, this is how many generationally traumatized black women end up: becoming detrimental to their own children. Black mothers are generationally broken and not raised with love or empathy, but survival. Most likely because of the black American experience, the slavery. As a result the next black mother experiences and makes unfortunate life decisions that lead to repercussions. Consequently, they lack emotional maturity and project their anger and trauma onto their offspring. As a result, they unintentionally harm their sons and daughters mentally, emotionally, and physically. Therefore, when you mention that she's treating him as if he were his own father, that observation is spot on. They direct their frustration towards those closest to them because they can't express it towards those who truly deserve it, like his father, their abusers, generational dehumanization, social exclusion, and more. The self-deprecation extends beyond themselves, but it's a painful reality that they choose to hinder their own child's growth in order to find solace in attacking someone else. The wrong person

@@agelessbeautee5.04 Because he couldn't have learned the so-called "rudeness" (which I don't think he's rude) from someone who was absent. Whatever he learned was from the parent who was there to directly inflict the abuse. Moreover, no one is letting the dad off the hook. There is no objection to anything Karamo said about the dad. But a father being absent is no excuse for the mom being abusive. A present parent can do just as much damage as an absent one. The mom doesn't get a cookie for simply being present if her presence has been damaging. And since we're deflecting to the father when making a point about the mom, let's talk about the mom blaming her son for the sorry man SHE chose to "lay up" and produce an innocent child with?

I do think that your mother has a personality disorder and you are going to need to learn how to deal with that. Google going grey rock with my NPD mother, you will get many sites. Review then and learn. I am so so sorry for this happening to you. Know that you have done nothing to cause this, it is not your fault. Do not take on that that baggage. You will learn that you are not alone and many have this same experience. This does help. When you understand the WHY, it does help. Unfortunately those with NPD do not change, they never become normal. What helps is knowing how to interact with them to prevent you getting hurt. @adrictrlx He explained it fully in this video and also in an older one. When your child/spouse/(sometimes)parent is acting out or being hateful (for attention usually), instead of matching that energy or punishing them, love them louder. Show them more love. Especially if their actions are bc they aren't getting the (correct) attention they need. They need for your actions and words to show them love louder. Like the son in this video, he was acting out bc he needed/wanted his mother's love. Yea, she loved him, but never told him. He needed to hear and feel that. How do you make someone hear or feel love when they don't feel it or hear it? Turn up the volume! So...love them louder.

This is one of the most toxic mothers I’ve ever seen. When Karamo told her it doesn’t give her a license to hurt him , it went right over her head. You cringed at the thought of hugging your OWN child? You can’t give disrespect , show no love , and then demand and think you deserve love and respect. She placed all the blame on him, and then is isolating and separating him from his younger brother. Giving him no outlet or even chance for love in the home he lives in. This was disgusting. I couldn’t imagine treating my child that way.

I agree, she needs therapy. It is likely she was abused as a child and likely came from a dysfunctional home. That is a lot of baggage to deal with. She clearly needs help to even start to address her issues. What concerns me is everyday she deflects and continues to place blame on her son, she is damaging his self esteem. I am so very impressed with this young man to understand something was simply wrong. He even takes ownership himself, well for simply being a teenager. Let me be totally clear, there is nothing he could do to make her behaviour even slightly acceptable. There is NO grey zone here, no argument on each side, None at all. This is 100 percent abuse. He spoke up and went on a public tv show to address this issue. I can look at what he did as a total stranger and feel proud of this young man doing something that took very real bravery, but his own mothers view is, " he makes me hate him and he talks too much". The power of life and death is in the tongue. As parents we need to be careful with the words we use to describe our children, or what we call our children. Your son is who you have called him to be. Your negative words are reflecting in his life. Use positive words to lift up your children and not hateful and negative words to tear them down. Pray, and bless your children and don’t curse them. Your children are a reflection of you.
