As a lifelong student of history, I grew up in Galveston and appreciate Galveston Unscripted for filming and touring these historic buildings for those of us who never got around to or were unable to access them for one reason or another. Well done.

Can you just imagine the ball room in the old days.
Everyone in their formal dress all fancy and excited for the evenings events. The sounds of the orchestra just radiating out and filling the room.
It must have been an amazing time to be in Galveston.

My first memory of the Scottish Rite Temple was about 62 or 63 years ago. My dad, a Master Mason, took me and my mom to a Christmas show they were putting on. I was only 4 or 5 at the time, but I do remember being in the theater/auditorium. I remember a magician performing, and found out much later he was a Mason named Overstreet. I ended up going to Ball High with one of his sons. After the show, we all went into the ball room for refreshments, and they passed out toys to the kids. I got a stamped metal stagecoach with horses that moved up and down when you ran it across the floor. It was a pretty special day for me to remember it all these years later. I attended several Rainbow Girl installations in the Egyptian room, and receptions for the new officers up in the ball room, where we mostly looked at each other from across the room instead of dancing. Years later, I received my Master Mason degree in the theater/auditorium, and attended meetings several times in the Egyptian room. I am glad to see that someone is taking care of the place, because I am not the only one with great memories of that building.

Wow, that's amazing! My father is Scottish Rite, I was in Rainbow Girls a very long time ago and I got to see the Khiva Shrine Temple in Amarillo. They too have an Egyptian theme there. And the history in the Galveston Temple is fantastic, as a historian who did a bit of acting, that just got all the buttons working. I live in Friendswood so it's a short jump down there and I'm going to have see some of the places you visit.

Another great video J.R.! I remember touring the Scottish Rite Cathedral years ago as part of the GHF Home Tour. I can say I was overwhelmed by the place and how much of a time capsule it really is.
