I just bought this car, it’s a great price for what you pay, and I love the volume knob and being out of the low quality Chevy volt that I was in before. Glad Honda’s hold their values over time
Wow the U.S. LX model is different one from Canadian version. We have a even lower, absolute bare-bones trim called DX. Our LX has touch screen, Android Auto, and some other amenities that make it a value buy. I test drove it with a manual (only one available with a manual), and it was peppy, and really refined!
I just happened upon your reviews and I think they're great (very informative and you're very personable). I haven't watched many of your reviews just this one, the Civic Coupe and your personal Civic review but I have noticed there's no detail on the backseat area (like just sitting back there to show real world leg/headroom etc). I think it would go a long way with providing the viewer some much needed pertinent information. Keep up the great job and continued success at Honda of Santa Maria.
Test drove a grey LX yesterday with CVT. Overall nice throttle response and feels peppier than my old Cobalt 2.2. That's only spirited driving in D. Imagine gunning it on S or L would do :) The 1.5t is impressive on paper but reliability and longativity is what gets me into the 2.0.
I have the blue one on lx Aegean metallic blue, had it for two weeks now. Go for it dude blue is the best color idc what anyone says. The civic has so many definitions to over and contour lines and blue shows it off. Head will turn
Great Review. I have been looking at purchasing a more fuel efficient vehicle as I have had a Nissan Pathfinder for the last few years and I have about a 60 mile commute to work. I am surprised with all of the features that I can get on the base model. I concur with a lot of the other viewers in that I appreciate you reviewing the LX base model because a lot of the other TH-cam videos are on the higher level trims. Thanks again.
For 2016 The Base Model had a 2.0L Engine which didn't have the OIL DILUTION problems the Higher trims with the 1.5L Turbo Engines had. SO IT IS BETTER TO HAVE THE BASE MODEL FOR 2016 CIVICS!
Thank you for doing this video and review. Absolutely true nobody else except a few do base model reviews. I love knowing what's in the base as compared to the middle and top trims. Especially for letting us know it's just as comfortable as the top model, I am considering this car when I can afford it.
Honestly not a bad car at all as far as features go. The only car I think may compete with this one would be the Hyundai Elantra. More features and a lower price tag than the Civic but I feel like the Honda has proven itself and will be more reliable in the long run. Anyone have any input on this?
Honestly all you get with above trim levels is unnecessary stuff other than the lane changing which I think is great every think else is OK. I have the lx in Aegean blue and boy o boy do heads turn when I drive do you know why? Because the civic is the same thing on every single trim level from base to top exterior wise. And honestly I think exterior counts more because when talking about interior other than the lane changing camera that works only on the right side I'm not interested in anything else. In fact I actually love using the key start ignition because you can see the rev line go from zero to max to zero and that's sexy as fuck( the red line in the beginning of the video when starting). On every other trim level it's like digital and is not aesthetically appealing as an lx. And the touch screen since it's built in looks more aesthetic, yes the screen in the above trim levels are beautiful but it's like someone put an iPad on top of a dashboard like with Velcro on the back.
hey edward, quick question, I really am leaning towards purchasing the 2016 honda civic, but i've been hearing that a ton of people have been having major problems with the infotainment, and the overall new digital system in these cars. I've heard there have been a few recalls, and I'm really worried that the civic is going to break down on me. This will be my first car purchase and I don't want to purchase this car only for it to fail on me within a few days/weeks/months. Can you clarify any of this information for me? has honda fixed these issues yet? Should i get electrical insurance to be safe? it just sucks that since the car relies so heavily on the battery ( ex, infotainment, Air conditioning, digital odometers, push to start, smart key entry etc.) cause If the battery were to die, wouldn't I be screwed? Please help me. I love all your videos. Thank you!
I know! I really like the specs and the look of the car but just hearing about all the issues (ex. engine not starting, laggy touch screen, AC not working, etc.) about the new digital system really kills it for me. The digital system is such a huge part of what makes this car so amazing at its price point, so for people to have so many problems with it early on, scares me from purchasing a lemon. I wish i can wait for the 2017 models, but unfortunately i need a new car by the end of this year and i really want to choose a solid car
I got this exact model a few months ago and im really happy with it. Saves me a lot of money on gas, i like how smooth it drives and how quiet it it. I havent had a problem with it since i got it.
On really hot days, you can press the unlock button (holding it down on the second press), and all four windows will roll down automatically. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to roll them back up automatically.
Thanks Edward for the reviews. We are interested in getting a new Civic. We have a 2014 Accord, 14, 800 miles, but my wife would prefer the smaller model. She can't see as well over the top front of the Accord. Suggestion: explain and show the back seat arrangement. Thanks again. Very helpful.
Honda did a good job this generation. I like the high tech look of the interior. The rear tail lights look odd in a Aztec way, but at least they're different. One thing to note is that all new cars sold will be required to have back up cameras by mid 2017. Even the cheapest car sold in America will have one.
Hi Edward. Thanks for the video...just looking for advice on making videos. I just joined the Honda team :) Do you use a phone or an actual video camera? Any advice on the mic used? Thanks in advance for your help.
I would like to ask if you ever had any problems with speed bumps? I heard this car is to lowered , have you ever scratch it from below because of the speed bumps or bad roads?
this car SEEMS very low and when you drives it FEELS VERY LOW but rest assured it's not. I have hit countless speed bumps and o my gosh don't even get me started on pot holes I live in the city man and every time I hit one my heart drops like no way I know something had to have happened like this car is too low for it not to have gotten scratched from a hit. I park on the side of the road come out to check and it's perfect it's absolutely fine.
It's so low. LoL! I have a 2017 and feel like I'm rolling out of it to get out. I have no issues with bumping or scraping, but I know how to drive my car when it comes to dips and speed bumps. At an angle not straight on.
I just bought this car in manual, had it for a week and LOVE IT! With the base model there is no apple CarPlay. I was wondering if this is a feature that I can have installed?
Ok i have a 2016 love it need that blind spot camera tho. And my paint is coming off my steering wheel how can i get ot fixed and i need to find freon to put in myself. I love it not a problematic vehicle.
How come you have a volume knob on your Civic ? And you don’t have CarPlay and Android auto? Maybe they’re different from Canada’s ? I really want a Civic with a volume knob
I love love love my Honda Civic 2017 EX model. I wish I could of test drive the EXT but oh well I’m still happy 😩😩😩😩🙏 One question though my Honda dealer was not able to cancel kahu which is something I didn’t want to pay for.. can I cancel it elsewhere?
It’s a great car but it too low. In my country where there are aggressive speed bumps you’ll keep scratching the front end and the bottom often. But civic remains my dream car. I’ve been saving but I still haven’t been able to buy one yet. I wish someone helps me with one
I had the 2016 ex-t and I dnt recommend that model. My AC went out and I heard the cvt transmission is no good. My 2003 Honda Accord V6 drives way better at 265,000 miles.
Believe it or not , that is the model I'm gonna get and fortunately for me , money is not a problem ...... but I don't need more than that . All those gadgets and technology I leave for the oblivious , short attention span millenials .... I can get by perfectly fine without it .
Was simple and nice review but u didn't mention anything about trunk space, leg rooms back n front, did not open the engine physically, did not play with the infotainment to show its response, did not show the navigation. But all in all thank u for the video.
Its about time someone shows base models instead of the overpriced models it shows what the manufacturers actually gives u
Thank you! You're definitely onto something
I just bought this car, it’s a great price for what you pay, and I love the volume knob and being out of the low quality Chevy volt that I was in before. Glad Honda’s hold their values over time
The base is such a upgrade from previous generations. You get alot for the money. 👌🏾
but the prices have gone up drastically over the years too. now the base civic is about $20K while few year back you could get one for $17K
I agree 10000%! I appreciate the feedback
+Your Honda Man (Edward) do you think I could get a EX for 18000 buy the end of the year?
Snapple_joe no
I like when dealership tints the Windows ... that way I don't have to deal with it ... great video review ... 👍
Wow the U.S. LX model is different one from Canadian version. We have a even lower, absolute bare-bones trim called DX. The 2.0L 6speed manual is the best!!! No oil dilution problem
Just bought this year civic EX-L best thing that ever happened to me I’m a huge Honda fan

Thank you for that suggestion! I will do that soon!
Another great feature the base civic offers is the automatic headlights :)

+MrCliffda3rd Makes sense!
MrCliffda3rd
anyone else just looks up their own car and watches the reviews? (literally what im doing at 5 am)
Thank you for reviewing the base model . I'm buying the blue one .
I have the blue one on lx Aegean metallic blue, had it for two weeks now. Go for it dude blue is the best color idc what anyone says. The civic has so many definitions to over and contour lines and blue shows it off. Head will turn

Good thing about the base is that it comes in a manual as well
Great video, but I was considering purchasing an lx with the manual

i was gonna get a civic until i heard about this. Currently waiting on the 2017 models. Hopefully they'll have fixed these issue

Congrats!!!
Make a video about it.
My blue Civic?
+Fadic 4 yeah. that would be a great idea. personally, I'm into in the blue one too. aren't there two shades of it: dark and light.
Cirenio Pizano mm I really haven't done a car review type video but I got Wednesday off and I'll give it a shot.
I can't wait to get this car
Excellent review as always!
+Hybridlancer2000 Thank you!

You can tune to 178 to 220 HP on the cvt automatics 300 on the manuals ...
Very good. Passionate and informative on a great product. 👍🏽
I just bought this car in manual, had it for a week and LOVE IT! With the base model there is no apple CarPlay. I was wondering if this is a feature that I can have installed?
It would have to be aftermarket
Just put an order for the base model. Honda Australia has mentioned Android Auto in the base model description. Lets hope they dont mess it up.
Like the ex with cdi but hate push button start it's easy for thieves and theirs no other WY to start if battery dies
Ok i have a 2016 love it need that blind spot camera tho. And my paint is coming off my steering wheel how can i get ot fixed and i need to find freon to put in myself. I love it not a problematic vehicle.
Oh trying to erase old phones connected to my car i cannot connect my phone.

Beautiful and 41 mpg💕. Great review
Thanks for that. I was looking at the lx.
buy the standard ...it's a lot of fun to drive
Does it have a blind spot monitoring camera on the side view mirrors 🤔
great review! thank you!
other manufacturers dont make entry level cars with matt black handles and mirrors anymore. thats so 1999
Have you seen a versa
i want the EX trim, but too bad they force he sunroof on you......
I just uploaded a driving review of my LX coupe with a manual transmission to anyone that's interested!
Hey, I have a confusion which Trim I should buy, LX, EX or EX-T
I had the 2016 ex-t and I dnt recommend that model. My AC went out and I heard the cvt transmission is no good. My 2003 Honda Accord V6 drives way better at 265,000 miles.
appreciate it man, I actually went ahead and bought a Civic LX in 2017 and then sold it and bought a BMW M5. @@JayManny01
Where is your dealer ship
I don't know If I buy this car or a HRV, please help me!
Donate the money to a presidential campaign instead.
+Vincent2wice lmao, that's a dumb way to spend money.. Wasting money on two worthless people

Can the Civic LX also come with push button start?

Can you do a 2016 Honda Coupe LX-P model review??
That little 5 inch screen ruins it.

isnt the dx the base model?
nah i think they got rid of that a few years ago
Bert dx model in canada for the base model
No trunk view????????
Next time review a real base model
Was simple and nice review but u didn't mention anything about trunk space, leg rooms back n front, did not open the engine physically, did not play with the infotainment to show its response, did not show the navigation. But all in all thank u for the video.
Major setback
No power seats
It’s a good car but it’s just so damn slow, and the seats are kinda uncomfortable
you must sell more than your coworkers
Forward 2024 the same car with 100,000 Miles $18,000 inflation is real.
EX EX EX I tell you, get EX! :D
+Danny cant afford
+Danny sadly I got this sedan LX, but the EX is a lot better.
Anyone has a used civic you want to sell for me in Ghana?
its not base model, base model is dx
Not anymore! Duh. It's gone.
Pro-tip, clean the inside before filming. The A/C controls looked horrible!
Why is this dude talking like there's a period after every word.
lol that made me laugh
I think it's a good thing thou, he's very concise and easy to understand
It’s incredible that car companies are still using steel wheels on the base models vehicles.
Is there a 2017 hrv coming for United States?
