I took your advice 2 weeks ago and picked up a 2018 Honda Civic (base model) with 36,000 miles for 17k and I absolutely love it. It corners really well for a non sports car and it can get up and go when you want it to and it can fit my 1 year old's car seat and my wife and I comfortably. Also I was driving a 2004 chevy impala ls before this car and I tell you what I was super happy to get out of that money pit and upgrade to this!

Lefai Kao Yes, we came close to getting one last week but heard about the AC issues and Honda not even backing the warranty.....blaming outside debris damaging the AC, instead of their faulty design. And leaving customers on the hook for expensive repairs even when under warranty. The whole point of getting a new car is to avoid expensive repairs. We’re disappointed because we really like the Civic, but reliable AC is a must for us.
