The mats are a good idea but they're still pretty stiff so getting ejected like that isn't gonna do much. Just like adding dirt. Packed down dirt is gonna be just as bad as the ply wood. I think they need to look at these incidents and use them when designing the track. If you have a technical section with a lot of speed next to solid ground put a speed check in the section to limit the intensity of a possible crash

The standard of care within emergency medicine no longer utilizes backboards to restrict movement as they cause more damage than they prevent. There are two ways we know the lawsuit is pure BS: 1) The value was NOT exaggerated and 2) whether it had been exaggerated or not the bank that underwrote the loan did its own due diligence to independently determine the value (DUH!). Banks aren't in the gambling business at any price point and especially not when talking about big money. For those who still don't follow, banks NEVER take customers at their word when it's time to value collateral. Hey Chris, talk to the Doc at the medical unit and ask him about rigid backboards. I’m sure he’ll have some good info for you on why they do the things they do, or don’t do. I’m a firefighter/EMT in California and we went away from using backboards for anything beside moving a non-ambulatory patient to the gurney years ago. Because we did it for decades, everyone is so used to seeing us strap people to rigid backboards and tape their heads down that they lose their minds when they don’t see it being done now. The data has shown that this practice was actually doing more harm than good. So, once we get a patient on the gurney, we remove the backboard. I’m not trying to deflect any criticism to the AMA, because there is A LOT that they could be doing better to keep the riders safe, but anyone who is calling for riders to be strapped down to a rigid backboard is just wrong, because they are not trained on current C-spine protocols. Or they work in an area that hasn’t caught up to the new standards. As for the C-collars, we used to put them on EVERYONE who had been in a vehicle accident who wanted or needed to be transported. Now we only do it based upon mechanism of injury and the patient is complaining of neck pain. We’ll have them turn their head side to side and if there is still no pain or discomfort, we won’t use the collar. With that said, I don’t agree with them having the riders sitting upright while driving that UTV thing over all the bumps and shit. They should have them lying down on a flat padded surface like they would be on a gurney in an ambulance.

IMO Nets are a terrible idea in between lanes. I can see the rider wrapping arms and legs in the net and folding the rider up causing greater injury or the pole spearing the rider ending a life. I also think it woulld prevent the Safety Team getting to the rider quickly. As in the Ricky "3 weeks" comment, I think Ricky was talking about 3 weeks isn't long as in the injury could take way longer to recover. While I was watching the race I didn't feel that Jett did that intentionally.

Was down on the floor as I am every year. It’s definitely concrete. Plywood was used at the old Texas stadium. Almost had to turn the video when I heard him so confident that it was plywood.

My wife agrees with you concerning RC 100% where I think your both alittle to hard on him. On his title 24 show with RV he's usually better. This week both RC and RV pretty much tore into Forkner for crashing , saying that the incident was preventable. That section of track was jacked up and gave problems to everyone. With Deegan coming Austin had to keep pushing it. He lost a contact lens and had a depth perception issue because of it, which obviously contributed to the crash. Then they questioned his conditioning because his hand came off the bar but he has nerve damage in that arm like AC. I lost respect for both RC and RV, for kicking Austin while he is down. Wish he could have won the title. RC, your dead to me.
They literally said everything Austin did in his video Austin said he didn't have the strength in his hand to hang on i know the feeling broke my hand after healing up the only hand getting blown off the bars during a mistake is the one i broke, they also showed multiple bikes doing the same thing casing the jump forkner wrecked on from casing and not crashing so yea it was preventable whats wrong with that? they did say that section was giving everyone trouble aswell and deegan was coming he was on forkner the whole race puting the pressure on forkner. People say its bad luck they told you it's not 9 times out of 10 it's the riders fault whats wrong with that? Jet taking forkner out airborne was bad luck it was unavoidable for forkner and IF I'm big on the if because I don't believe you don't remember getting the lead but can remember your contact fell out half way through the race but if it happend he should've backed it down a bit but no let's send it over this jump when I can't see that's giving everyone problems and end my season or possibly career 100% on forkner unfortunately they also sent they're respect and get wells so I don't get what was so bad about their podcast all they said were facts... I agree people are being hard on Ricky I feel like everyone behind the camera on race day makes the same mistakes or stutter lol

I’m a firefighter/EMT in California and we went away from using backboards for anything beside moving a non-ambulatory patient to the gurney years ago. Because we did it for decades, everyone is so used to seeing us strap people to rigid backboards and tape their heads down that they lose their minds when they don’t see it being done now. The data has shown that this practice was actually doing more harm than good. So, once we get a patient on the gurney, we remove the backboard.
I’m not trying to deflect any criticism to the AMA, because there is A LOT that they could be doing better to keep the riders safe, but anyone who is calling for riders to be strapped down to a rigid backboard is just wrong, because they are not trained on current C-spine protocols. Or they work in an area that hasn’t caught up to the new standards.
As for the C-collars, we used to put them on EVERYONE who had been in a vehicle accident who wanted or needed to be transported. Now we only do it based upon mechanism of injury and the patient is complaining of neck pain. We’ll have them turn their head side to side and if there is still no pain or discomfort, we won’t use the collar.
With that said, I don’t agree with them having the riders sitting upright while driving that UTV thing over all the bumps and shit. They should have them lying down on a flat padded surface like they would be on a gurney in an ambulance.

I think they have Ricky in the wrong role in the broadcast. Idk where the place for him is but Ricky is a completely different dude in his pod with RV. Much more relaxed, and actually make sense. At some point these new viewers don’t really care who Ricky is but I guarantee they agree he’s bad in the booth. Almost unbearable at this point, I’d rather watch the race on mute it’s getting so bad. Really not a good look in the sport. The NFL does this with ex studs, and guess what. If they suck in the booth, they move on to the next guy…..

IMO Nets are a terrible idea in between lanes. I can see the rider wrapping arms and legs in the net and folding the rider up causing greater injury or the pole spearing the rider ending a life. I also think it woulld prevent the Safety Team getting to the rider quickly. As in the Ricky "3 weeks" comment, I think Ricky was talking about 3 weeks isn't long as in the injury could take way longer to recover. While I was watching the race I didn't feel that Jett did that intentionally.

It's my understanding those perimeter areas have to be clear for emergency access vehicles to get through.
They can drive their UTV's and ambulances over the mats, but the mats are not going to be the solution. Won't even get any consideration.

Sorry, Cooksey, but that's a concrete floor, not plywood, that Forkner landed on. Yes, they use plywood at some stadiums to protect the fields but at AT&T they remove the turf field and build the track on the concrete floor.

Was down on the floor as I am every year. It’s definitely concrete. Plywood was used at the old Texas stadium. Almost had to turn the video when I heard him so confident that it was plywood.

My wife agrees with you concerning RC 100% where I think your both alittle to hard on him. On his title 24 show with RV he's usually better. This week both RC and RV pretty much tore into Forkner for crashing , saying that the incident was preventable. That section of track was jacked up and gave problems to everyone. With Deegan coming Austin had to keep pushing it. He lost a contact lens and had a depth perception issue because of it, which obviously contributed to the crash. Then they questioned his conditioning because his hand came off the bar but he has nerve damage in that arm like AC. I lost respect for both RC and RV, for kicking Austin while he is down. Wish he could have won the title. RC, your dead to me.
They literally said everything Austin did in his video Austin said he didn't have the strength in his hand to hang on i know the feeling broke my hand after healing up the only hand getting blown off the bars during a mistake is the one i broke, they also showed multiple bikes doing the same thing casing the jump forkner wrecked on from casing and not crashing so yea it was preventable whats wrong with that? they did say that section was giving everyone trouble aswell and deegan was coming he was on forkner the whole race puting the pressure on forkner. People say its bad luck they told you it's not 9 times out of 10 it's the riders fault whats wrong with that? Jet taking forkner out airborne was bad luck it was unavoidable for forkner and IF I'm big on the if because I don't believe you don't remember getting the lead but can remember your contact fell out half way through the race but if it happend he should've backed it down a bit but no let's send it over this jump when I can't see that's giving everyone problems and end my season or possibly career 100% on forkner unfortunately they also sent they're respect and get wells so I don't get what was so bad about their podcast all they said were facts...
