@James Cunico Not sure where I suggested that he's not diligent as a musician. But if I'm honest, hard work is just a vessel for his talent to thrive. Sans the talent, all the work in the world wouldn't produce anything approximating "All I Need."
@James Cunico Sure but that is also kind of saying that musicians who aren’t as good just didn’t work so hard. But it really isn’t the same for everybody. I have met a lot of musicians and innate talent really is a thing. I know musicians who study 8 hours a day, who have been professional musicians for longer than Jacob Collier is alive and they still will never reach this level. If you start age 12 you can’t possibly catch up to someone who started age 4 if you both work as hard as you can on it. Things like perfect pitch have to be developed before a certain age or you are too late. Jacob was singing Britten opera’s age 12, not everybody is able to get such opportunities at such a formative age. And that is not to say that therefor his talent is just something that was given, he only reached this level because he worked his ass off on top of those talents. Not only is he really talented in his abilities, Collier is also extremely knowledgeable in music theory which can only be achieved through rigorous study and frankly it is very impressive how much he knows at such a young age. But not everybody starts from the same place and thinking it is purely hard work and anybody can do this is not true and kind of unfair to the 99.99999% of musicians who aren’t the best in the entire world. Like a random nameless musician who plays drums during live tv show performances or an oboe player in some small orchestra somewhere in a small city, they aren’t nearly at the level of Jacob Collier but you better believe those guys work extremely hard and have done so for decades to reach that level. Like what if Jacob Colliers parents weren’t cool and had said “music? waste of time, I don’t want you growing up a musician, there is no future in that”. I know plenty of musicians who had parents like that, the guitarist in my band had a father like that and thus he never went to conservatory. This sounds like early Pharrell production except the stark emptiness is filled with hopeful Zoomer happiness.
I love Ty's 'yeah, yeah, yeah' at 2:25 in time with the other parts. 😊
Jacob is himself and that's what I love.
I would suggest that this man collaborates with Thundercat but I have legitimate reservations about the world being prepared for that
He has his phone number, but I haven't seen any full on collaborations. It would be so fantastic though
Then it would be the golden age of the apocalypse!
he kept the chord that he modified in his logic session with the louder B natural haha
Well he did apologize during that logic session "sorry for releasing the song incomplete" 😂
sorry but i dont hear it tbh, could you show me the time stamp? Cause I'm rewatching this time and time again but that additional b nat from his session breakdown does not appear...
@@philbmr6449 2:58
@@joedavis9850 thanks but I dont think that's it. At 56:40 in his logic session breakdown video, jacob adds the b nat to the last "aaall I neeed" right before mahalia steps in for the first time. That would be 1:04 in this video.
@@philbmr6449 Ahhh gotchya gotchya my apologies
The way he is confortable enough to be silly is so cool
i lost track of how many key changes this song had
Jacob’s going to infiltrate the mainstream and before you know it we’re gonna have teenagers all around the World discussing what a G half sharp major is 😂
this is pure genius. just shows that a pandemic can't stop us from being creative and expressive! Funky, cripsy, buttery, flakey!
All i want is just jacob collier at my bedside explaining music theory to me until i fall asleep
He is the only male that may have my babies
GIVE JACOB COLLIER EVERYTHING HE WANTS
Jacob is the gateway to the next Age of Enlightenment.
I could get behind a whole Bathroom series from Jacob 🚽 “In My Bathroom”?
Start with "In the Bathtub", it's one of his most underrated and wonderful songs.
There’s a world where I can go and tell my secrets to
In my bathroom
In my bathroom
If talent was a person, It's definitely gonna be Jacob Collier. 🥰
i smiled throughout this entire thing! the non-stop pure joy coming through this screen is infectious!!
He is not just the new Mozart, he is as well very funny. Flintstones is a masterpiece, but this one makes him natural, great.
I am a new Jacob Collier fan. Found him how I discovered many musicians I love through NPR Tiny Desk. I found this particular version of “All I need” from watching a documentary on him last night. He does a solo version on this on his Tiny desk “from home”. I highly recommend checking out both! Love and well wishes from New England!
Noooooo I love Jacob’s voice at the end and this cuts it right off
Also missing Ty‘s little hoarse giggle at the end.....
So hyped for volume 3
so sad that it was cut off and we didn’t hear the little trailing off lyrics at the end:( but this is was so good i’m in love with this song
mainstream songs will actually need real talent and hardwork now
I just fucking cried because of this song. I don't even know why. I've never fucking cried like this because of a song before. This motherfuckers insane
This is not just immense creativity, it‘s collierivity!
you did it
And here we have another proof of Jacob being an alien! "I love his work" doesn't even closely express what I really want to say. One of the few people that make words completely inaccurate to express feelings. Thanks for being alive in this wonderful time!
BEST COLLAB THIS YEAR HANDS DOWN!
쯘다아주...... 와.... 대박 😍
Ty dolla sign is such an immaculate G
