He’s not a one man band, he’s a one man orchestra, in a league of his own. The man is music itself. He’s been inspired by many but he’ll be an inspiration to musicians for centuries to come. Keep doing your thing Jacob ✌🏼❤️🎵🎶
There's not much to understand, in fact. The basic idea is: "We are going to have a party all night." There are also a lot of nonsense words in it, so it's not surprising you didn't get their meaning.
Jacob has said before that lyrics aren't his main priority when writing songs, since the music itself is so complex. So, in a way, it makes his music easier for everyone to appreciate, which is what I love about him.
@@emanx222 Could be but this is a TH-cam video intended to project that. I actually hope you are right but I sometimes wonder if he is 'high on life' or on something else.
My favourite part is when he "forgets" what song he's playing and dives into a Jackson 5 classic. Throwing that in was easy enough, but the "save" when he leads it back to the song he's supposed to be reversing through the circle of fifths is pure joy.
I’m sure that the sheer talent and musical imagination of this man is probably way beyond the understanding of even the most accomplished musicians on earth, yet the thing about Jacob’s music is that the SHEER JOY he brings with it is accessible to EVERYONE - and utterly infectious! That voice coming out of that person throws me for a loop every time. I don’t know why but it just doesn’t match what I am expecting. I love what Jacob does with this song. It is truly mesmerizing.
Thank you Jacob... Growing up, "All night long" was a song I'd only ever heard on the radio, by chance, because no one played that kind of stuff at home. But it had a massive impact on me. I thought it was so good that I recorded it on my mini cassette player. I was fascinated with everything in it.... that intro... the magical summer evening feel, the strings, the backing vocals, the restraint before the hook, the "play on play on play on play on", the instruments I couldn't identify... When I first watched this video about a month ago my brain became overloaded with sounds and images and I didn't get it at all. I thought I didn't like your cover. Yet for the rest of the day it was stuck in my head. So in the evening I had to come back to listen again. And man, when the strings came in I just started crying. I couldn't stop! I was overwhelmed with emotion. You'd brought to light what this magical song is all about, with such love and care, and I was feeling it on such a deep level. What a true celebration of music this is! What a forever fiesta... I am so grateful. Thank you for your love of music and the joy you bring

THIS IS MUSIC!!!! I have Ben inundated with modern pop music and worship music. I’ve almost forgotten what real music is. Good LORD!!!! The world needs this!!!
Jacob, I am a musician, keyboardist, pianist and music producer with visual impairment here in Brazil. I came to your channel on the recommendation of my music teacher, who spoke very well of you. What spectacular ideas of arrangement, my friend! What a beautiful thing. You’re literally a genius. He managed to make a sensational arrangement at the height of the song. You are living proof of how it is possible to be creative and listen to songs like this (known) in a different and fun way. I vibrated a lot at the moment the solo of metals, piano and bass appears. It gave me a pleasant feeling of joy, happiness, ecstasy.... Very good indeed, fantastic! And those "take 6" voices? Just great. I’m still looking for decent samples of voices like that for my keyboard. Who knows, all of a sudden, we’re partnering to create a realistic take 6 sample with expressive joints like vibratos, etc. Already imagining the next arrangement for the song "Cidade Maravilhosa" (anthem of the city of Rio de Janeiro) in Jazz... :) All the success in the world for you. I’ve become your fan!
Regular music listeners never dance, except when they were a toddler. They also don't enjoy anything (always on the rush or drag or lost in an eternal moment aka. the illusions of youth), because they are lost in nostalgia and memories (which have nothing to do with enjoyment) or romanticism about another time than the past (most live in the past though) - in short, they just imagine to enjoy.
Yeah. Haha. But it is absolutely true. Our ‘normal’ brain can’t process this without coming with new emotions. This is what happened to the people in Bach’s time. How to process a genius? I don’t know, but I feel a lot of happiness.
This is perfect gateway Jacob Collier because it is saturated to overflowing with his energy, it is a super famous song, and he doesn't take it far from it's original shape musically. It will get people into his sound and seems like it might make them more likely to be able to expand their ear to get into his more jazzy music.
Very late to the party, this is spectacular. Right up there with Prince. I'm going to be stuck to my chair for the next 24 hours scrolling through everything he's ever done. Feel like I've just entered a parallel universe, music is the master, Jacob is the king.
I think Prince was just as much a genius in terms of style (I think a better lead singer too by a long way), but Jacob's genius niche is his stretching of the fabric of music in the way Bach did with harmony. All three geniuses, just in different ways
His music ability is obviously out of this world, but the fact that he's able to be so charismatic. It allows him to take everyone with him on a journey into his mind. Truly one of a kind. Now don't let mainstream media ruin him. :)
Almost 50 years of playing the piano, keys, guitars, drums, releasing music, feeling pretty good about myself and then HE comes along.. Joes aside. Just WOW oh WOW. Superb.

Jacob is way beyond talented, he has all that musicality, the skills on all those instruments, coupled to a creative genius brain. What a joy for all of us to be able to enjoy it, for FREE even!!!
Totally agree with you there!
I agree, although it isn’t free. You see, you have paid in one way. You are no longer in control, not even of yourself. With his mad skills, Jacob Collier has coerced you into allowing the music to take control. Now, we will party all night long. Lol.

The day Jacob get sad, Im afraid of what type of music he is gonna make
Oh damn... I want to hear it. I want to know what it feels like to experience true spiritual death while still alive.
@@AlfredEiji Honestly I don't think he'd have it in him. It's like wanting to know what it would be like if Miles Davis made a 4/4 pop punk track.
i think it in his song "balm"
i doubt he'd be mega sad, but he can get sad, if it is the bad sad, then id personally love to hear it musically, especially with his microtonal power, he can RELALY do some crazy stuff!
In the real early morning has some sad vibes, made me cry the first time i listened to it. resolves in a content way though. Jacobs music always has that hope in it, the love to know it's going to be OK.
He’s not a one man band, he’s a one man orchestra, in a league of his own. The man is music itself. He’s been inspired by many but he’ll be an inspiration to musicians for centuries to come. Keep doing your thing Jacob ✌🏼❤️🎵🎶
I'm Korean, and I cannot understand all of the lyrics, but I can feel pure delight and creativity in this video. your musical world is insane..

@@solideomusical the joy on his face! His love for exploration, travelling and meeting all of his heroes etc.
He also throws in a bit of Fascinating Rhythm by Gershwin at 5:13
I’m sure that the sheer talent and musical imagination of this man is probably way beyond the understanding of even the most accomplished musicians on earth, yet the thing about Jacob’s music is that the SHEER JOY he brings with it is accessible to EVERYONE - and utterly infectious! And then - as if that were not enough on its own - his incredible skill as a video editor/imagineer adds yet another DAZZLING dimension to his ability to communicate with all our sensibilities. For me, this rare and precious combination of mind-boggling skills makes Jacob’s astonishing arrangement/performance of “All night long” the closest thing to the definition of UNBRIDLED MUSICAL ELATION imaginable… Everyone - just FEEL the joy!

All the success in the world for you. I’ve become your fan!

HIGHKEY BRO!!! I love that about him 😁
Shouldn't you do that anyway?
@@rhandhom1 "You should" and "You have to" are VERY different things and alot of musicians exploit that unfortunately :/
Alwas humble
I love how even in the complexity of the arrangements , there's still that groove that regular music listeners can dance and enjoy.

How come you are this late 🤔. No matter, it‘s fresh like on day one.
Dude better late than never!
Beyond prince.
Prince would only have wished for a fraction of this genius
I think Prince was just as much a genius in terms of style (I think a better lead singer too by a long way), but Jacob's genius niche is his stretching of the fabric of music in the way Bach did with harmony. All three geniuses, just in different ways
After 1000 times hearing this piece, i'm pretty proud to say i feel able to do an analysis of the... 8 first seconds.
His music ability is obviously out of this world, but the fact that he's able to be so charismatic. It allows him to take everyone with him on a journey into his mind.
