Just been over to my local Club to hit these and the P7MC's....As a Lefty it's refreshing to see TM are offering these and the MC's heads looking at me on the till area when I walked into the Pro shop this morning.....wanted to like the MC's, and to be fair, the feel off the face with the MC's is lovely, compared to the slightly more 'techy' feel off the face of the P770's....But after looking at both all flights and then the numbers, I couldn't really argue with the P770's performance, which gave me 4.5mph more ball speed with a 7 iron (118mph v 122.5mph), higher flight with the P770, (surprisingly), and 8 yards more carry with the P770 than the MC's (162y for the MC's v .170y carry for the P770). Nowt much in the spin rates for me, the P770's were about 200 less rpm, but with a higher flight, they would still stop okay due to the higher decent angle..sure the MC's feel is lovely, and certainly wins the feel criteria over the P770, but for me who hasn't swung a club for almost a year, the P770's performance slightly out performs the MC's for my game....Just my experience with 30-40 balls of each...
They pretty much combined the look of 790 and put it in a p760. I got the p760 and hitting that 5 Iron is beautiful.
I think so yes! I’m not in the market right now but if I was these would be the first ones I’d be looking at 🔥🔥
For Control get p770, for distance get p790 which i have my handicap drop from 9.8 to 6.4 withing 5 months.
P770 4-6i combo with P7mc 7-Pw would be a perfect set I think.
I’m sure they’re very nice, but I can’t bring myself to spend $1,300 on irons. I think, besides their quality and performance, that’s why I’m seriously looking at getting a set of Ben Hogan irons.
But what if you play better with the taylormade’s?
mrjamesgrimes I’m not out playing for a living, I don’t see the need in having irons that are more expensive than my mortgage payment. That being said, I’m not denying that they’re beautiful and they perform very well.
As a player of the Icon irons, Ben Hogan irons are amazing especially for the price.

Michael Newton Golf Hi Michael fantastic content as usual . I have just ordered these irons they do feel really nice love them. But 1 question On your ball position from the camera angle it looks quite a bit forward from centre. I always struggle with my position I keep it in the middle. Should I be putting it a little more forward ?

They are beautiful irons. I would be interesting to see you do a comparison between the P770 7i and the Ping i210 7i (as they have the exact same lofts and are almost the exact opposite in design philosophy). What would the differences in spin rates, carry distance, peak height and descent angle be? That I think would allow people to understand what compromises (if any) you are making by switching to the P770s

Thanks Michael. Great review and I could watch your swing all day. I’m either going to buy P790’s or P770’s. I read in an article by Simon Daddow that suggested the P790’s have a 12 yard more carry than the P770’s (7-iron). That’s huge and would sway my decision. Just wondering if you could do a head to head review of the 2 clubs. Thanks
They only will go 10 yards further than 770 because 2.5 degrees more loft

In the UK P760 is discontinued, TM don’t have any stock....

I’d cancel and get newer ones. The ones You ordered would be obsolete and worth less by the time they arrive

Not so sure about "best selling TM irons" - £1300 is an awful lot of money. Wilson D7 forged as an example may be more P790 than P770, but they cost half as much. Will they really sell that many until the price drops?
“Best selling TM irons” is referring to the TM range, not other brands.....
@@MichaelNewtonGolf My point is that I can't see "best selling irons" going for 1300. Not many people will be willing to spend that amount of money.

Great video I play to a 12.6 would you suggest a full set of p770 or could I mix it with the 7mc?
Could mix with MC, just got to tweek the lofts slightly as there is a 1 degree difference

@@MichaelNewtonGolf Thank you very much. Can you make any suggestions for someone coming from the SLDR irons. I love them, they're easy for me to hit, but I will be upgrading to the P770s. The SLDR irons have KBS C-Taper [90 grams] , and so I've been kinda used to a lighter shaft. Do I take the time and get used to the heavier shafts [120] or stay light with something like the Dynamic Gold 105s. Obviously it'll be different for each person and the only real way to find out is by hitting them over and over. Any insight is appreciated

P770 is replacing P790 according to Taylormade Website and the designer of this club. Not P760
Robert Cho defo replacing P760.....790 is staying.
P790 is their best selling iron and the new one just came out less than a year ago..... the 770 is replacing the 760
