I think the photo quality is better in akaso than osmo & gopro..but gopro is the best cam for videos
For $140, I'd say it's a great buy as it's stacked up very well against 2 of the best action cameras which cost twice as much. Well done Akaso ! Another great video Ben !
No mic jack kinda kills it. Weird because their cheaper brave 6 plus has a mic jack.

It's nice that it also got a front screen. Not a bad choice if budget is limited. But it seems the stabilization is a bit off.

Those all are awesome products, considering their prices and user experience they offer. I agree that it's a little hard to compare these products. But considering the price of each of them the Akaso Brave 7Le is a good choice for the beginner, who are trying to get all those action shots for their instagram or other albums. While, Gopro and Dji are the photography and videography leaders with alot of products researched and developed. I appreciate the way you try to explain all the features and getting the viewer to make the best buying decision for themselves. I am great fan of you reviews and vlogs.

Not bad at all for $140, but couldn't help noticing when you were walking round the fountain at the beginning with the Akaso and Hero 8, that the floor was all grey on the Akaso but showed up as yellow and brown/red on the Hero, which was weird. Especially seeing as the grass looked over saturated in some of the Akaso shots. So no saturation on the floor and a tad over saturated on the grass. Anyway, interesting product for the money, and great to see how much tech you can get now for little money.
Oh well, I’m only 2years late. Good review! I’m interested in the Akaso 8 now, it seems like a good deal and now has the ability for external audio which I really like.

For sure! Of course it's not perfect, and there's plenty of shortcomings, but there's a lot of people who need a "fine" budget option

So for image stabilization, the Osmo Action/Hero 8 are in a different class than the Akaso. That said, for stills and stationary video it's relatively close. Also, the Akaso is currently 118 at Amazon. Tough call for sure!
I like everything about the Akaso EXCEPT the audio sounds FAINT....at least in your outdoor test. Is the audio volume and quality noticeably better INDOORS on the Akaso?

The footage is much more stable on the GoPro and Osmo Action. Osmo Action would be a better alternative of GoPro with cheaper price.
GoPro has a higher resell value used. Better camera.

8/10/2020 and it's back up to $140 on Amazon. Decent little camera for someone on a tight budget. I do like that it takes much sharper stills than the Gopro.

Nice entry level action camera for the money. It would make a great Christmas gift for an aspiring teenaged photographer/videographer. All the included accessories makes it a bargain.

since my gopro 8 black died on me (bought in 2020, starting recording/actively using it this year for my runs and all i get is a black screen now). been watching alot of your reviews snd im leaning towards Akaso, never touching GoPro again.

GoPro has been challenged by so many other action cameras over the years. Nothing comes close to knock GoPro off from being the golden standard of action camera. I am very happy to see other action cameras on the market that compete against GoPro, which push GoPro to improve their products. I do love GoPro. However, the price is a little out of my budget and I love to see more action cameras coming out for a cheaper price. BTW, love your review and keep up the good work.

Great video. The Akaso cannot beat GoPro but It is more than ok for the price. I'm buying it.
Been using mine for months now. No option to start record when turning the camera on, a deal-breaker for motovlogging. Impossible to tell if you are recording in sunlight. You have to stop and cup your hands around the camera while staring at the mirror. It does have good video quality and a simple to plug in a cheap external mic for good audio. Mine has now developed a violent shaking of the video recording at times, destroying the recording. Mine will go in the trash.

I have the Osmo Action. The audio quality is great, but I have a hard time getting the image quality to look good. I have to fool with the settings a lot and grade it in post to make it look decent. I wish I would have went with the Go Pro to be honest. I think I like the Akaso image almost as much as the Osmo. I have a big problem with Osmo blowing everything out in bright sunlight. The osmo looks the best on overcast days and medium light situations in my opinion.
I would love to have one of those to take kayaking. It would be a nice upgrade from my old hero 3.
If Akaso would put a little more saturation, it would look like a Go Pro.
I currently using the GoPro Hero 8 black for my vlogs and the recordings are coming out great.
The one thing that I like for gopro is only the supper view it's very wide while the osmo is front screen only thats why I have 2 of this cam.

Damn dat is a good camera but I prefer the 250 one or the 140 especially while riding the one I have is 20 dollars and is terrible got it from Amazon I mean it records but the audio is so fuzzy
I reviewed/giveaway this guy the other day, pretty much the same findings. Love that tripod mount. I also notice IS is only supported in certain modes/resolutions, and when you go back to 'normal' mode you have to manually turn IS mode back on and reset the res to the last mode you were shooting in before you went to slo-mo. Otherwise a tremendous value. Great review by the way!

I returned the Akaso brave le the same day I got it because when I went to boot it up it was stuck on Akaso logo and I tried everything so I went out and bought the Dji osmo action best decision I made if you can spare the extra $110 buy the Dji it’s worth it.

The video on the akaso Maybe cool to go under water. But the audio sucks. With the gopro u have better audio even under water.

Not too bad for their first go around. Imagine what their next version will be like. Companies like Vizio and TCL were very budget friendly when they started out. Now they have budget and higher end products.

Great video as always. I had a Akaso camera several years ago and I wan't impressed. However, it is always nice to see a budget action camera maker mature with their products.
I think I'm going to go with the akaso for a starter vlogging camera. I was considering the osmo, but the colors look better on the akaso. And I like the front screen on it slightly better. Also love the accessories.
