    I almost made the same decision until I started relaxing on the straights and exits and focused more on what I was doing before and inside of corners.. now I'm blasting through the corners and I'm able to pin it mid-corner and get to top speeds where I couldn't before and shaving off seconds of my lap times. I love my 10 for my crazy spurts. almost sold her, now I won't. I took my friend's 750 for a rip the other day only to find that while the cornering was similar, all I was missing was the power. it's not like I was finding I could corner better on the 750, it was the same except that I had less power to pull through the corners and exits. I think it's just about learning your machine inside and out and first taming the beast.. then you can unleash it.

    I grew up club racing and I did the same thing in auto racing, and bikes... I'm back down to a "lowly" R3 to learn how to carry more speed into a corner without "browning" into a deep trail and then whacking the throttle open. Looking forward to watching your progress. I'm already pushing like I've never pushed before...I'll be bringing out the ZX6R '20 near the end of the year after I hone my racecraft on the R3.

    Smart man, not to mention the 600 have no electronics and the bikes have barely developed since 2012 hence you can be competitive on a 10 year old bike. The liter bikes are all about electronics and without the latest bit of kit you won't be able to be anywhere near the top bikes.
    What you're mentioning about the stop and go riding style is also just how these 200hp bikes like to be ridden, square off corener pick it up and wack it open, so probably you were just getting accustomed to the riding style rather than being ''lazy''.
    Solid content, and watching your recent videos you really look like a fast rider.

    my first trackday was with a ducati 848evo.. amazing experience but not soo easy to ride + very high maitenance. i kept it as a roadbike and got a fully built hrc pc40 600RR which was the perfect and balanced bike to get some track experience. i did 3 events with the 600 sold it and bought a zx10r 2016, ive ridden it twice and i absolutely love it, no torque lowend but very stable and makes 187hp at the wheels with full electronics for a very good price. I couldnt go back to a 600 as my main track bike, the laziness you mention with liter bikes i dont see. my motivation is the clock and to challenge good friends , nothing cooler than shitting yourself from the power of your own bike it makes you respect it. the 600 felt like the b!tch you didnt care for haha

    I can totally appreciate your thought process but I went the opposite way. Like you, I had a 2012 R1 that I had tracked and did a few race rounds on and then I decided to try a 600. Bought an r6 and sold it after 2 weekends on riding on the track. I just couldn't feel comfortable on it, I was always waiting for power even after tying to keep it in 1 gear lower than I'd normally be in. I didn't have confidence to pass people because of it.
    So after selling the r6 and taking 2 years off of riding I decided a liter bike was the way to go and now have my 2016 zx10r. I couldn't be happier with this bike after racing it for 3 years now. I now know that I need that near instant throttle response and control of the rear tire.
    I think we exchanged some comments on the zx10 forum especially about your zx10 forks being TSE built since that's who I kind of ride with and they do all the setup on my bike. Enjoying the videos although a little bummed they aren't zx10 focused anymore :-)

    I've got a 2019 ZX6R and found your video because I was thinking of changing it for a 2019 ZX10R.
    I don't do track days but in the past I had a ThunderAce for about 8 years back in the day, so I'm used to litre bike torque. After a year I'm used to the 636 and fancy more go.
    Interesting to listen to your thoughts on track vs the bigger bike. Maybe I need to test drive a ZX10R to see if 200 ponies is too much (especially for the road).
    Shame they don't make something in-between the 6 and 10!

    • @AAron_Rides
      @AAron_Rides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SquireSCA yeah it’s because it was cold and you guys needed to run the right rubber for the temps but due to the aggregate that makes up most of the track, the harder compound rubber gets chewed up. It’s better to run Tally on 100* days with super soft compounds. This way the rubber molds to the tarmac better and reduces wear from less spinning....sounds backwards I know!
