Good review. I’ll be ordering one soon, mainly to use as a family car, with the intention to go on longer trips. It might be as comfortable as a Ranger, but for a round trip of our beautiful country, I wouldn’t trust any other vehicle apart from this beautiful and reliable Toyota
I'm actually in the market for a new 4x4 dual cab ute at the moment and have been test driving a range of models. The new gen Triton has some nice features, but the lack of in-dash cup holders in anything but the top GSR model is very disappointing, as is the fact you can't fold up the rear seats for storage. But the interior multimedia unit seems top notch and the instrument panel a lot more modern than the current Hilux. As for the 'manual' handbrake, I think it is probably better in terms of longevity and in the event of an electrical problem. An electric handbrake isn't necessarily a deal breaker (like having to control air conditioning from a touch screen would be), but the manual option is my preference. As for the Hilux v Ranger, well, everyone I know (except one) who's had a Ranger has had major issues with it. The one who hasn't also had an issue (the Motorised roll cover didn't work when we were camping and it started raining) - but I don't consider that a 'major' issue (though it did happen within 3 months of buying the car!). In any case, my point is I'm not even test driving the Ranger. I would love to see a review of the SR5 with the 48v (so-called V-Active) technology. One thing not clear from your review, since the Rogue doesn't have the V-Active option, is whether it misses out on Toyota's new Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) technology or if that's only available on a V-Active equipped SR and SR5?
Thanks for your comment and for the great feedback! I’m currently on my way to the Bangkok International Motor Show and hope to have further information for you on the 48v Hilux variant. This Rogue doesn’t have the MTS option. I have a few reviews of the new Triton range coming up and will be able to share some good insights shortly, the new Triton’s infotainment unit definitely is a winner though.
During testing we experienced 10-12l/100km During previous ownership of a 2017 model, it used roughly the same fuel as tested before adding accessories.
Highly recommend Offroad Animal bars, having personally fitted them to several vehicles. offroadanimal.com.au/predator-bull-bar-suitable-for-toyota-hilux-rogue-wide-body-n80-2022-my23-on/
Thank you! I’m a big fan of both, the interior screen has me sold on the D-Max every time, however the raised suspension and wider track of the Hilux Rogue is tough!
You asked if people prefer an electronic handbrake or a manual one. Me, I'd go manual. Because if you flatten the battery, does the electronic handbrake work?
Great review! I’m upgrading from my 2017 SR5, the Rogue will arrive next week. I felt like I’d be cheating on a good woman if I left Toyota now#hiluxianforlife
Last year I went the ranger over the hilux. Almost went the dmax but wait time was too long after another delay. The ranger is far superior over the hilux in almost every way, especially the V6. Only issue is the perspective reliability but I haven't had any issues with mine. If you want that old school 4wd ute type and dont mind paying an absolute premium then the hilux is for you. But why wouldn't you get the Dmax instead?
Honestly mate this was a great review. Do you think waiting for the 48V system is worth it or get the rogue with out it while you can? took the Toyota rogue 2024 and the D max x terrain 2024 for a test drive today and I have to say the Toyota drives better but the D max has such better Tec I cant understand for that price how the reverse camera is so trash... why Toyota just why.
What blows my mind is that the reverse cameras on Toyota models are usually some of the best! Honestly I think get the non-48V system version. The benefits don’t necessarily outweigh grabbing a great deal on the outgoing Rogue.
@@roadtrip_reviews ended up taking a 2024 Ford Ranger Sport V6. Ford was hands down the best in all aspects. Ford and Isuzu make the Toyota feel really out dated :(
Thanks for watching and for the comment. A review of the Facelift MY24 HiLux will be done once the model lands in Australia, including the 48V variants.
As a big Toyota fan, Toyota has gone to absolute shit, same old 2.8l and same old design fukn disgusting, the reverse camera on this car looks like it got dunked in shit everytime you put it in reverse, shame
100% agree that the reverse camera quality is trailing other key brands, although I must say they’ve done a good job at keeping this car a usable work ute while “beefing” it up a bit and done the mechanical work required to do so.

Thanks for your feedback and I’m sure you’ll love your new car!
A very thorough overview, thank-you, learnt a few things not included in other reviews. A test drive and commentary would have enhanced further.
Thank you for your feedback 🙂 we’ve started adding test drive commentary in some of our newer reviews now so appreciate the feedback!

Great review mate. I’ll be ordering mine very soon in this beautiful black colour. Hilux all the way for reliability
Appreciate the feedback and for watching! Helps massively
What is the fuel efficiency like? City and highway?
Between 9-11 / 100km
During testing we experienced 10-12l/100km
During previous ownership of a 2017 model, it used roughly the same fuel as tested before adding accessories.
I want to fit the bull bar on my new Hilux (this model), Any suggestions? Which brand is the best and fits?
Highly recommend Offroad Animal bars, having personally fitted them to several vehicles.

Great review! I am torn between Isuzu Dmax X Terrain and 48v Rogue... What are your views on both?
Thank you! I’m a big fan of both, the interior screen has me sold on the D-Max every time, however the raised suspension and wider track of the Hilux Rogue is tough!
Just got mine - loving it
Awesome! Well done!
Hey
Will this car be good option for off road driving as well ?
Of course!
💯 mate , Hilux is the best Ute in the world. I drive a sr5. Best value in my view is the workmate with the 2.4 engine.
Thanks for your feedback and for watching!
I got one it's a beautiful ride offroad uo here in Cape york, deadly all round car 👌🏾❤️
Very nice! Thank you for watching and for sharing!
Are you running stock suspension?
You asked if people prefer an electronic handbrake or a manual one. Me, I'd go manual. Because if you flatten the battery, does the electronic handbrake work?
That’s actually a very good question!
Beautiful vehicle
Certainly is!
Great review! I’m upgrading from my 2017 SR5, the Rogue will arrive next week. I felt like I’d be cheating on a good woman if I left Toyota now#hiluxianforlife
Exciting!
I would only prefer the GR over this because its gets rock slides and removes the rear sway bar for heavier off roading.
Agreed

How’s the Ranger going? Lovely cars for sure
Manual handbrake please on future Hiluxs! Hate those fiddly electronic brakes!
Definitely more straightforward

@@wooh80 congratulations on your purchase! Ford Ranger is definitely a nice car
Review is good, but that is not the 2024 model Hilux.
Thanks for watching and for the comment.

@roadtrip_reviews . Just purchased the 48v. So just waiting on delivery now.
No matter how dated will still sell like hot cakes, toyota reliability and resale, tried and tested drivetrain and the rest
Valid points
Toyota will get you there and get u home!. 🎉
True true
The GR doesn't look normal like that that looks like a revo to standard. Give me a GR and invincible and time sports anytime.
Thanks for your comment and for watching
Not sure you are an audio expert though
Never said I was champ
Plastic side steps for that price just looks really cheap
I agree. Could have had tougher side steps to match the car
Stay manual handbrake I heard Ford Ranger had a fault and electronic handbrake come on 80 km an hour when it comes to 4wd drives. Keep it simple.
Crazy! Simplicity is best sometimes
My 2008 Rx350 has the exact same seats. Toyota still recycling 15 year old sku's I see.
Rather the same comfortable design instead of new trendy uncomfortable designs
@@roadtrip_reviews ye totally, got nothing against it, just thought it was interesting.
Toyota really steeps its game up up up .
They do better in some areas than most, but are lagging behind on many others.
