My dad owned the 2011 Toyota Hilux. That thing was one angry animal and I'd always take the long bumpy roads with it. Need to work hard to get him this 2016 as a Gift.
+Samwise Drogod I do not think it will be much longer before the ranger returns. Ford is not one to just give GM a market. I would also not be surprised to see the U.S. spec ranger with a ecoboost engine.
bighands69 that is true, the raptor is badass, but we don't all want or need huge trucks with nubby tires. as far a sensible trucks for everyday tasks, we are pretty limited in the us. the ram, f-series, tundra and silverado trucks are way to big and inefficient for my needs, which leaves me with only two choices: chevy colorado and toyota tacoma.
Mistaken watched this video, but got to give my props you guys are really entertaining and realistic to bad you are not doing American cars keep up the good work.
I have a ford ranger have had it for only 6 months and already done 60000klms and still going strong without any problems what so ever would buy one again, I've always have had fords and running them to the ground with no problems after about 700000 klms
I have a 2016 Ranger with the 2.2 engine. I've done 10.000 miles in the last year and its never missed a beat. its lovely to drive and pretty quick for a truck that weighs 2000kg. Must admit, I only ever use BP advance diesel or similar which I believe helps. My friend has the new 2016 Hi Lux which is also very nice, but imho the Ranger feels more rugged than his Hi Lux. Not keen on the new HL interior. Too much shiny black plastic for my tastes. My next change will definitely be for the facelift 3.2 Ranger Wildtrack with the off road pack.. only dilemma.. which Colour!
Toyota has spent $Millions on research not just for HiLux over various years, but also for their LandCruiser range, which they then use to make other models better. I think the Ranger looks better, but Toyota has the pedigree back by 40 years of testing, research & delivering the best quality 4x4's & SUV's any where.
Myself and other People were sad to see the Ranger go overseas and not have any here in the USA. Here in the states Ford and Chevy rule. Toyota is ok but it has always been Ford and Chevy, Ram and Jeep also. My family has owned Ford trucks starting with a 1983 Ranger with 300,000 miles, 1993 Ranger with almost 200,000 miles and 1997 F150, all with many miles towing. You take care of your Fords and Chevys and they take care of you. I want Ford to bring back the Ranger. I used to buy one at $14,000 US dollars. It was great for small jobs, off road and affordable but I am concern if they do bring it back, it may be expensive. Chevy brought back the Colorado truck and it starts at $22,000 US dollars and only comes in four door or extended cab.
Denzel Holness that's the rumor here too in the States but what made the Ranger so popular was the options and low price. Base single cab with short bed and basics was around $14000 to fully loaded extended cab with 4x4 for $28,000 was reasonable. Chevy brought back the Chevy Colorado but only in extended cab and four door and it starts at $22,000. It's not selling as well because you can get the Silverado starting at that price well equipped. We will see. Nice talking to you.
Unfortunately the days of a real Ranger at real good prices are over. When the new one comes out, it will be foreign based and more expensive than need be. Buy an old one in good shape.
All i can say is take both out for a test drive. I did and both very nice but ended up with the Ranger wildtrak , the finishing on the Ford is just that little bit better.
The only thing I got from this review was a good Laugh about as ordinary as it gets. But FORD RANGER IS THE BETTER VEHICLE and that's something coming from a HOLDEN MAN !!!!
Is there a pickup truck that's right hand drive with a 6 foot bed ? or preferred a full size pickup with 5-6 foot bed, im currently in north america and have a tundra which is full size and even with a 6ft bed thats still not enough and im making a move to a country that has right hand drives
Hola! consulta. estoy analizando la compra entre Ranger y Hilux. Hilux srv manual 2016 con 153.000 km (USADA) o Ranger XLT 3.2 - 0 Km (Nueva) consejos?
Ranger for me I just wish the orange colour was available in the XLT model, would look perfect with the chrome trim and some nice mickey thompson classic rims to finish it off. Then a colour coded canopy, and 3 inch exhaust lol
6 minutes in and they have just finished reviewing the interior and showing us stuff we can see for ourselves sitting in the car lot. That's 8 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Why did you bother.
I wish they'd taken them to a spot where one of them got stuck or bogged and the other was able to carry on, to see which one is more capable off road. The Ranger has a locking rear diff which can make a big difference in tricky situations.
Toyota hilux hands down. Reliability for sure they've been around for quite a while now. Durable engine, tons of parts available and cheaper compared to Fords. Lots of kits for hilux. It's the best pickup ever.
We have a older Ford Ranger with the big 4 liter V6, limited slip rear end with 3.55 gears, 5-speed auto od, 4,940 lbs GVWR and it is real workhorse. Goes like stint too with that torque monster motor.
Toyota all the way. if you have $60000 to spend on the ranger, go ahead but you can get the practically the same performance for $35,000- $40,000 from the toyota. The wild trak has to many gimmicks for me. like a roll out tray that drastically cuts into your storage space
Well you've said a lot of shit because on the countries the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux are manufactured like Brazil where I'm from, the Toyota Hilux is about 20000 dollars more expensive than the Ford Ranger and Ranger have 3 times more technological resources than the Hilux, also the Ranger is a 5C 200HP 3.2 while Hilux is a 4C 175HP 2.8.
+Enrique Gutierrez And Central America as well but what wont come to North America is the Everest(the suv version) because it would compete with the Explorer.
If we want a Tundra or F150 or F250, we pay around $160,000 with conversion and don't get me started on insurance costs. Would love a F250 but they're too big for suburban roads & carparks.
+Ross Westmore well the parking in the states aren't always great. we have a few mid size trucks but not many.. things look to be changing soon tho. maybe we will soon enjoy similar trucks in the states
Mate you have the original cars these copy... F150/250 your engines are 10x better, big grunty and not held back v8 diesels etc. These are shit compared to what you get.
In the states Rangers are like a disposable razor. I went through 3 of the POS while my Tacoma manual transmission 4cyl 4x4. Has never had a problem. Just now tracked 90k on the Tacoma none of my Fords made it to the 36k warranty = started having major issues around 30 = time to trade of sell!
I have driven both and the ranger was the better truck. The ranger did not have to work as hard as the little Toyota engine. A tub liner is a must in this day and age for cleaning and resale down the track. I am a big bloke and the seats in the ranger on a 40 km trip were far better. I get out of the ranger feeling fresh. The Toyota looks Asian and the ranger looks so tough and totally proven
I would love to drive one of these new trucks, i have driven the older models of both and then the hilux was faster and more refined, but with these new generations i am eager to get my hands on one of them and try them out
After all debates etc, I've concluded in one result : Hilux is a better choice as so many people has a solid faith in this brand and it would be an easier vehicle to sell as a second hand. On the other hand, differences are so marginal and even if Ranger was a slightly better car, I would still prefer the Hilux for its long history reputation. Period.
to be honest I would go for the ranger. I would normally pick a hilux, but Toyota really screwed up the new hilux. the front looks very different to the last model. I think it sticks out to far. the interior is just worse. the seats are uncomfortable, and I'm saying this from experience. when you drive it you keep falling down the seat. the dashboard is ugly because it has to many odd shapes in it, and wtf is the radio. it looks like someone legit just glued an iPad to it. it's a shame that Toyota screwed up the new hilux. it had such a great reputation that lasted for years
I love the looks of the Hilux, Ranger is good but don't love it. And those extra inches of bed space could mean a world of difference. I'll have to test drive the Hilux first, but I'm guessing I wont be disappointed.
What matters in 4X4 is the approach, departure and breakover angles. Both of these have way too much hanging over the wheels, and no breakover angle. I'd like to see a manufacturer build a real 4X4 again! Like the '60's Ford Bronco sold in America or the tries and true Jeep.

comes down to personal preference with these 2 models there pretty much neck to neck just comes down to what hasn't let you down in the past to decide between the two. lm a hilux owner but l'll always think l should have got a ranger only cause of the looks to be honest lol
ottoswinebar Christopher Warner who cares we care about real life not Commercial i buy Toyota anyday not Ford moose test doesnt proove anything even Jeep still failed moose test and Mercedes Hybrid as well not just Toyota go tell people not buy Mercedes !!
FINALLY!!! I've ben waiting soo long for a comparison head to head video :-)
Keep up the good work lads!
My dad owned the 2011 Toyota Hilux. That thing was one angry animal and I'd always take the long bumpy roads with it. Need to work hard to get him this 2016 as a Gift.
we are really missing out on these in the US.
+Samwise Drogod Yes sir we are :/
+Samwise Drogod Merica!
+Samwise Drogod
The rest of the world does not get the Raptor. So count your self lucky.
+Samwise Drogod I do not think it will be much longer before the ranger returns. Ford is not one to just give GM a market. I would also not be surprised to see the U.S. spec ranger with a ecoboost engine.

I wish we still had the Ranger here is the US. I loved my 2003 Ranger FX4 Level 2
You can buy one in 2018
Kent Llemit late 2018 though
both of them are awesome!
Mistaken watched this video, but got to give my props you guys are really entertaining and realistic to bad you are not doing American cars keep up the good work.

This is what you call a review, a couple of guys talking bout what they like in a realistic manner. I laughed throughout the most of it lol...
I had a 1999 Ford Ranger and I miss my truck.
ISIS should do a Hilux review !!! 10 million views for sure !!
HAHAHA best comment right here mate
💯😂😂😂😂😂😂❤🙏🙏🤣🤣🤣🤣 isis mother vehicle toyota
You guys are awesome!
Thanks for making and sharing this vid. God bless.
that's a sweet Toyota truck. I didn't know they looked that cool. it has a cool name too. it sounds fierce and agile. nice vehicle
At first look the Ford Ranger will catch your attention but the longer you look at the Toyota Hilux the more it gets beautiful.

We have ford ranger and i do like it a lot because my father is an OFW and we just had decided to buy one
All i can say is take both out for a test drive. I did and both very nice but ended up with the Ranger wildtrak , the finishing on the Ford is just that little bit better.
What if... both of them meet Jeremy Clarkson...
that will be awsome
Would probably hit them and loose his job
SV DarkGrey jermey tried killing a hilux but he failed
there were 3 vids where he failed lolol
they dont carry that kind of weight!!!
The only thing I got from this review was a good Laugh about as ordinary as it gets. But FORD RANGER IS THE BETTER VEHICLE and that's something coming from a HOLDEN MAN !!!!
I wish that these were available in the U.S. market. More information about both trucks would have been nice though.
the new hilux looks amazing
its more stylish than the older version

Doesnt the Hiux have drum brakes and coil springs on the rear?
Ranger for me I just wish the orange colour was available in the XLT model, would look perfect with the chrome trim and some nice mickey thompson classic rims to finish it off. Then a colour coded canopy, and 3 inch exhaust lol
6 minutes in and they have just finished reviewing the interior and showing us stuff we can see for ourselves sitting in the car lot. That's 8 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Why did you bother.
New Hilux looks nice and modern with its big front projector lights
For me Ford RANGER.
the toyota hilux is strong
TestAutomobila and roast meh house of cash is a savage
ford ranger for me i hate the Hilux and the people
Ranger any day
Kherby Kierson Mae Alfeche Weak Suspension, Chasis
My dream HILUX someday. ...
y'all talk funny. where y'all from? Jersey?
Both beautiful trucks, I like both,
Ford is awesome. Greatings from Romania
You got that right
I wish they'd taken them to a spot where one of them got stuck or bogged and the other was able to carry on, to see which one is more capable off road. The Ranger has a locking rear diff which can make a big difference in tricky situations.

As soon as i saw the WA plates, i knew its gonna be a good one!

They didn't even mention the diff lock in the ranger, now that's a selling point.
there difflock in both of them
I have had both Fords and Toyotas. For me, it isn't even close. I prefer Toyota
serious the mustang looks like fusion and now the ranger?
I really want a ranger to bad ford doesn't sell it in the states
"4 inch longer!"
"That's what you say to all the boys!"
LMAO!
would a WildTrak be a better model to throw up against an SR5?
when will ford bring back the ranger to north america where it started a long time a go !!!
+larrybear1959 This models coming to the us and Canada sometime 2016
2018
it's been on north america since 2013.... at least in México
México is north america too
+Enrique Gutierrez And Central America as well but what wont come to North America is the Everest(the suv version) because it would compete with the Explorer.
the trucks in Australia look BADASS, i wish they would make trucks like that here in the states
philip tran from australian point of veiw its the opposite
If we want a Tundra or F150 or F250, we pay around $160,000 with conversion and don't get me started on insurance costs. Would love a F250 but they're too big for suburban roads & carparks.

Philip Tran they are called utes
That was actually a fun video...
i want the ranger i wish they h ad them in america
I miss the Ranger being in the States. Could you imagine ours would probably have an optional Ecoboost V6.
Bought the manual 2.2 turbo diesel Ford ranger xlt. My only gripe is that the gears are a little tall. As such, 5th and 6th gears are kinda useless.
In the states Rangers are like a disposable razor. I went through 3 of the POS while my Tacoma manual transmission 4cyl 4x4. Has never had a problem. Just now tracked 90k on the Tacoma none of my Fords made it to the 36k warranty = started having major issues around 30 = time to trade of sell!

why australians prefers hilux over ranger yet they prefers everest over fortuner (both based on their cousin pick-up platform) ? im just curious..
+bimosalexandres the model maybe. in suv they like everest and hilux for double cabin. my opinion
Just tell me which one is the best?
Did he say kw of power?
wow these guys are awesome. instant subscribe!
that back to back seen caught me off guard. kinda weird.other than that. I love that ranger!!!
Period.

why are these not in america!
I would buy any of those right now if they were available in Canada
+Igor Fil There's the Colorado, which is a good solid truck
You should of got the wildtrack
first vehicle I drove over flooded padocks didnt miss a beat no slip. Full traction.
What matters in 4X4 is the approach, departure and breakover angles. Both of these have way too much hanging over the wheels, and no breakover angle. I'd like to see a manufacturer build a real 4X4 again! Like the '60's Ford Bronco sold in America or the tries and true Jeep.
witch one is strong ?
The Ranger is going back for warranty repairs at a ratio of 7 to 1 compared to the Hilux. My advise to all Ranger buyers, sell before the warranty runs out.! You've been told...
If you want to keep your for few years let say three years the rangers are okay but if you wanna keep it for life then choose the hilux it will be going, and going forever..👍👍👍
I love Australian shows because everything they have we have. It's like two identical countries
+Sisekelo Duma Me too, I live in New Zealand, I'm guessing you do too :D
+Alley Oop I'm actually from South Africa mate
+lazynow1 who cares if they're bloody fat lol
I like the Ranger
as a Toyota driver I wouldn't be here today, rolled flipped several times that was my Prado, had a Kluger now own the beast a HiLux
one day i will use it is very good to see
Hello question somone know how to use manual transmission and clutch operating
Pawel Mechanic press the clutch, change gear, release the clutch gently
Bring the Ford ranger back to the USA with the little diesel please!!!!!
Toyota will still be king. Ford still have major quality control issues.
Sure about that?
Do you actually own one?
I only heard ford problems in Australia but not heard of it here in Asia.
My dad has a Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3.2 2016 for 2 years now and its still great.once remembered we took the ranger on hilly roads thats about a 100 miles with full upto max payload to the point the back sinked a little bit and we got home no prob whatsoever.
News that matter
I agree 💯 I have owned both of these
Who else thinks it'll be interesting if Subaru made a utility vehicle??
both new models getting closer to catching up on the Amarok - but still not there by a long way
Should of gone to spec savers:(
the Ford ranger 2016 is the more efficient one than the Toyota hilux 2016.kindly read the article for more info

how much
i have driven a hilux about 2015 model and you can watch the fuel gage move fast
Explain to us people who are not metric wise how much HORSEPOWER and TORQUE in Ft/Lbs. Now why so many electronic crap on them , when they go wrong the cost of fixing is horrendous,as parts are off the planet. The Ranger would cheaper on parts and easier to fix. I hope the common rail diesel issues have been sorted. After owning many Toyotas in my life the time has come a for a change and new Ford Everest is on my bucket list for 2016.
Toyota is toyota😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘
I am huge fan of hilax
Amazing huge powerful vehicle😘😘😘
Quick question, isn't the Hilux in this video the top of the range?? Why not compare it to the Wildtrak which is also the Ranger's top of the range. Comparing a normal ranger in aesthetics to a top of the range Hilux isn't a fair match.
How much did Toyota give you to make this video!
Jack HD Jealous
Hi Jack...we accidently paid him by clicking the video as viewers
In the uk theres no competition anymore, all you can have in the Hilux is the 2.4( wich is a shame as im a Hilux man) but ive ordered a 3.2 Ranger, the 2.4 is ok if your using it as a tax avoider.
vanta toy 5l
Greg O'Brien hi. what do you mean by tax avoider? I'm more a navara man but fancy a change
nismo glider if your using a pickup in the UK as a buisness car and it can hold over 1000kg you can claim the VAT back
Hilux is the best made i could put up with a 2.4
Funny dudes! Nice test.
Ford really has to bring Fx4 to europe
I love how he said the Ranger was American styling! HAHAHA, not even close!
we dont get the 4x4 toyota Hilux in Mexico :(
top of the line hilux should be pit with top of the line wildtrak! and see how it looks
+evo emperor not really about looks but more of what your getting for your moneys, ranger has the looks with the wildtrack love to own one but the hilux has a brand new build from ground up.Pretty impressive to me, rangers only good for looks on the wildtrack
How about capability? Hilux still? Technology, power and capacity? Hilux still
comes down to personal preference with these 2 models there pretty much neck to neck just comes down to what hasn't let you down in the past to decide between the two. lm a hilux owner but l'll always think l should have got a ranger only cause of the looks to be honest lol
Well i own a ranger i also wanted the hilux because its cheap to maintain but still choose the ranger because of its capability.
+evo emperor I think the Hilux SR5 now has a rear diff lock like the Ranger, so capability should't be too far apart off road.
i love my ford ranger....only real complaint i find the manul gearbox notchy
When it comes to trucks, Ford 100%!
I just get the wild truck today I don't no I'm not feel well 😑
Just as well we don't have "Moose" in Perth, because the bloke in the Hilux would be dead.
ottoswinebar Christopher Warner who cares we care about real life not Commercial i buy Toyota anyday not Ford moose test doesnt proove anything even Jeep still failed moose test and Mercedes Hybrid as well not just Toyota go tell people not buy Mercedes !!
Wow, IFS front ends, sorry but no live axle = picking up wheels. Its a worry when you 2wd car runs a simular setup.
