- Holy cow, we're at 100k subscribers. I don't think either Trump or myself expected such an overwhelming response from you guys so quickly but it's really awesome. I wish I had something special for you guys today, but it'll just be the usual: this video and the next part of the EU f2p series, which is also an arena run!
We've got the B-team here for this one. Frostwolf Grunt, Elven Archer and Pint-Sized Summoner were somehow all the best picks.

I honestly sucked at hearthstone (still not very good but better) i wanted to play with just a 20$ starter boost, as i do in most f2p however i got cards i didnt know how to use, i tried to get all the cards for all the classes but after finding you and seeing your f2p run and arena matches i learned that i shouldnt, i gave up 6 of the classes and have 3 much better decks, i actually have some dust, not enough for legendary thou and in general im having more fun and getting better, thank you for teaching me, and good job
What you call "worst card pool ever" is still better than 90% of what i get.
I doubt that. Some of these cards were really bad. However this deck worked because he had two early game weapons. Without those you'll do badly no matter how good your draft is (I'm exaggerating of course but not much)
i think you're exaggerating the badness of the deck slightly. sure you saw a ton of absolute garbage in the draft but you often managed to pick something reasonable like bluegill warrior. and while there were a fair number of bad cards in the deck, you also got 2 fiery war axes, a gorehowl, an arathi weaponsmith, 2 cult masters and a bunch of charge minions to combo with them. not to mention a reasonable mana curve with pretty much guaranteed early game drops.
i'd say getting a worse deck than that one is actually not that rare, though they might not look superficially as bad because they don't have cards like frostwolf grunt in it.

I am quite annoyed by the amount of people that keep saying that just because it's a card game, luck automatically has a big factor. Meanwhile when you look at other F2P card games such as Shadow Era, you simply cannot have 8 win streaks with RNG alone, ever despite being a card game.
Hearthstone is a casual, visually pleasing, mechanically dry game where the decks mostly play themselves, which is why it has such a low learning curve, which helps make it accessible to everyone.
Of course there are some moments where Trump manages to pull out a victory with his skill, not denying that at all. For the most part however Trumps victories come from his deckbuilding ability more than from his gameplay mechanics.
That is why Trump got so many wins here despite his own low estimates. I've been following Trumps estimates on his Arena runs relatively closely and he's completely rubbish with estimating his deck strength. He usually estimates 5 - 7 decks to go for 8, or 9, while 8 - 9 he puts at 10 -12, I have no idea on what basis. Here he makes the same estimation error but only in reverse, which is extremely rare. Trump has a tendency to grossly overestimate his decks.
The secret to this decks win streak is in the basics.
It had plenty of redundancy for 1 and 2 mana, which ensures even a VERY strong early game. His play only gets stronger on the midgame and starts to lose some power on the late, late end game where his biggest card was the Gorehowl. Concidering that this enabled him to play highly aggressively, it's no surprise to me that his matches would end before the game would get to the very late late end game phase without him having control of the board.
TL;DR
- Yes, RNG is a factor in card games, but other TCG's clearly showcase that it is possible to have mechanics where skill trumps RNG 90% of the time rather than vice versa. So stop using that as an argument, it's idiotic and incorrect.
- Yes, Trump is a highly skilled player and does get wins with his skill, but majority of his wins comes from the deck alone and this doesn't NEED to be the case in a TCG as pointed out in the argument above.
Your tl;dr needs a tl;dr.... don't think you know how to use that...
Long or not, what he said is 100% true. It's the main reason I've decided to stop watching these Hearthstone videos and, more importantly, playing the game. When you win, you only vaguely feel good because you know it was basically the deck deciding that you were going to win. When you lose, you feel like shit. Not only was there LITERALLY NOTHING you could do to change things, but the opponent starts spamming emotes and plays every fucking card in his hand before he kills you. "You suck, you should've drawn better cards." Oh, sorry.
You couldn't pay me to play for 7 hours a day like Trump. It's casually fun, but I'd just kill myself. Uninstalled.

What's your point? That you prefer other card games because they are more complicated and less RNG based? The whole point of hearthstoen is that it's basically a dumbed down card game and therefore is fun for a lot of people to play. The point is when you look at constructed there's a reason the people at the top are at the top and it's not just the deck since most people run the same decks. The reason I would say trump is often incorrect with estimates is because sometimes you will match against good opponents with good decks and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you get a good starting hand and other you don't.
Not all of them. There are some games with more or the same level of RNG. One example is Magic, where you have the draw the "mana crystals" (called Lands at the game). Yu gi oh is another example of a game where RNG is critical.
I just got into Hearthstone a week ago and its soo addicting ! I LOVE arena ! (even though i've only gotten to 3 wins the most).
Got Kel'thuzad yesterday as druid and got 5 wins, meanwhile Trump has the worst arena card pool and still gets away with 8 wins.

Parhy Lolzilla KT is like an okay legendary. In constructed it's crap most of the time while in arena...it can be also really crappy, most of the time.Though if you get lucky you can get some good value out of him. This truly might be like the worst warrior arena draft ever but not really, because he still got to be riding on the Fiery Win Axe's value train, he even got two of that weapon that literally wins the early game. While in mid game he had some okay cards so he survived that. Even if he fell behind sometimes, he had the potential to bring it back in the late game with Gorehowl and he still had some alright late game cards that he could backup with a Gorehowl...those three weapons pretty much got him through most of the games, the sad thing is that this is like the only way Warriors can do anything in arena.
i value weapons like twice as much as i did before a 3 win Warrior arena run and i had great respect for the Warrior's weapons before that too, but i basically had pretty good cards in general, no big loser cards anywhere the curve was alright. Maybe bit more early game and questionable card quality at some point was seemingly the problem with it, but in truth i got to 3 wins only because i had one Death's Bite in the whole deck as the only weapon and that basically sealed the first two games and i just had the perfect start with good topdecks on the third win.
After that i got 3 losses. First match i just happened to have bad draws and the opponent's cards quality wise were better than what i had against them, Death's Bite alone could have probably turned it around at some point but didn't draw it at all. I don't want to describe both losses after that but it was pretty similiar situation. Overall:I think Warrior weapons are almost mandatory for an at least 8 win and i like this video because it demonstrates their ridiculous value well, this deck would have been like a 2 win arena 3 at best without weapons.
I think that's just stupid, sure you have lot of chances to get weapons in arena as a warrior, but the fact that you have to actually count on getting at least around 3 good ones is ridiculous. That makes Warrior actually the worst arena hero currently in my opinion, since it's mandatory for you to get at least 3 good weapons to have a chance of even getting to 7 wins. I would say that i hope Blizzard will do something, but i see zero chance for that from what have been revealed so far from the upcoming expansion, only thing we get is combo cards and bad weapons for Warriors.
Mages are actually extremely popular among newbies, at least at the european server.
It’s doesn’t really need sick combos to work and you get pretty much all vital class cards from the beginning.

ironically you had some elements to make that rush down warrior deck from arena.
at 25:40 you actually wouldn't have been better off with just 1 cult master, cuz dread corsair was the 4th card you drew, and with only 1 cult master you would've draw only 3 cards, so you would have war golem, stormpike, bluegill, 2 armor and 2 extra mana to spend, which COULD be used to cast that bluegill you just drawn, but knowing you, you'd probably keep it considering it dies easily to swipe or hero power or wrath or whatever

Trump, could you elaborate on why you chose Blood Knight over Brawl with your first pick? Wouldn't nearly clearing the board be more advantageous than hoping for your opponent to play a card with divine shield?
Brawl is only good in Arena if you're losing terribly.
Blood Knight is a good card, with or without divine shields on the field. Worst case scenario, you get a 3/3 for 3, which is okay, but there's a lot of potential for getting a 6/6 or even a 9/9 out early.
Brawl's good, but a lot more situational.

You call that a bad draft? You should see the shit I get, worse than that every single time.
An average deck is supposed to get you 3 wins against equally skilled players. So considering Trump's excellent 8 victories the deck can't be that bad. Actually this deck has about 10 cards of constructed quality level in it.
My really bad decks contain cards like Avian Watcher as shaman or Arcane Giant with only 3 spells total. Or when Lorewalker Cho is your best option... that's what I call bad ;)
At 56:30 I cant believe that you dont know about this, but the water elemental doesnt freeze you if it only dmgs your armor. NVM you said it right after xD

Lol Trump is being super whiny here. This deck is great. Double fiery war axe and a Gorehowl. Just get to gorehowl and win with that card alone.
You need to just play arena more frequently. You'll get more good drafts if you play more.
Not everyone can draft a 5 legendary deck, it exists and its so not fair

Crafted a Pala today and got thrown 7 trusilver at my face and not a single consecration, hammer of a** or other common Pala cards.
This look like the kind of deck i get a lot. Lately i been getting slightly better and pulling 7wins instead of 4-5.

Went for a warrior arena run today (daily quest) and got a deck - 28 minions, 2 spells - lol (commanding shout and slam). 0 weapons, 0 removal, 0 epics nor legendaries. Highest mana cost was 5. So I cannot really agree with the worst pool ever.
I realize this video is almost a year old now but does anyone know what the situation with Artosis is he refers to that everyone was ragging on him about?

Seems like a pretty reasonable deck to me, 2 Fiery War Axes, Arathi, Gorehowl, 2 Cultmasters... Just lacked late game and had like 4 or 5 bad or sub-par cards.
I have had much, much, much, much, much worse, the 2 Fiery War Axes alone are a rarity when I pick Warrior...

The Gorehowl lost one durability instead of 1 attack!
The gorehowl loses attack if you hit minions, but works as a normal weapon if you hit them in the face.
Aww I like battle rage. If only used for 1 draw its sorta meh but its has potential for a big draw for cheap.

I am a warrior player and i have a disagreement with you about the battle rage.
I use cruel taskmaster,whirlwind and commanding shout in my deck helping me get the full advantage of cards that battle rage provide.I really find it very usefull.Think about it,even in the worst case you would have a damaged minion and probably a wounded hero,therefore you get 2 cards with 2 mana,in comparison with mage's intellect 3m-2c.What do you think of all that?.Thank you in advance

I don't complain about Pyroblast, because it's been complained about ad infinitum and I don't see it very often after the nerf anyway. It also fits in well with the Mage class anyway, as uneventful as a nigh-unstoppable 10-to-the-face card may be.
However, I will never drop a "well played" to a Pyro finisher. Props to Trump :D

I wish I knew how to play this game, like I still don't understand the basics I usually go 2-3 in arena and can only do one every 2-3 days it makes hearthstone not fun. what would you recommend to help?
Look at how pros play and imitate. Pick their cards, try to follow guidelines in their plays. That's how you get good at any game for that matter! :)
Like lots of games, it takes a while to get into. Just play the game for a while, doing quests and earning cards. (Try doing achievements) and then earn lots of gold in ranked. Then study arena like on streams, and then aim to either stay stable or get a net gain in arena. But it does take time, but dont give up!

They should add a "bet" mechanic to the game. You get to bet how many wins you'll get and if you're right you get 4x as much. 3 wins or more to be fair tho. Otherwise people would just lose intentionaly.

The Fight Night he's talking about is Artosis being really cocky and getting rolled by Trump. It's easy to say "Oh, that guy was so lucky!", but Artosis seriously topdecked Trump 3 times in a row, despite playing pretty poorly.
