@@nevertrythedesperateman5974 during the stenciling stage sometimes paint and other things get on the canvas. doing the background last ensures the cleanliness. However you can do the stages at any time... its just what I like to do.
You’re projects always look so nice but damn these ones really stood out for me with the extra detail of the flowers and the background with the slab these are just beautiful
As any purist will tell you, creating with your hands is the only way to go. Cutting those stencils by hand is a prime example of letting you be in control. Even if there may be a wavering of the hand as you cut. A plotter/cutter just can't be as spontaneous. Even though I have never done this style of art, I do enjoy your process! Keep it real!
thanks for the thoughtful comment... i am not against using plotters and or say like projectors in order to help the process. for these specific projects im all hands baby!
@@slewp Yes, I do agree there is a place for those devices. I have used cutters to do vinyl letters, and when you do many jobs like that, they are necessary! But like you, tactile creating is sooo much more fun!
One of the several things that set you apart is the variety to be found in your videos. The only consistency is how well they are shot and the quality of the work produced. Also you use the word 'love' more than any other artist content creator on YT, which speaks volumes about how passionate you really are about what you do. It's refreshing and inspiring and what keeps me looking forward to your next videos. Don't ever stop being Slew my dude.
You constantly inspire me to create. After a multi-month art slump, something about your pieces in this video spoke to me and that tickle in the back of my mind that urges me to create and get my hands on some paint just returned, and for that, I thank you.
Part of the reason why I love your channel is because of how deep into the artist process you share. I love your concepts. And your story telling of your creative process. I mean I love your art but I love your story on why you art and how you art so much more
Your work is just incredible and beautiful, it inspires me daily. Continue like that for a long time and I continued to follow you with all the passion you deserve. PS: I'm French so sorry if there are faults
i think what you were trying to say may have been 'and i will continue to follow you with all the passion you deserve.' your english is impressive, though! :]
you're freaking genius, the edition, the girl spinning and masking the colors to match the bars, all the details the angles, and the work it self. GENIUS. I recognized my school also (parsons) in the first scenes
I've been enjoying your artprojects & videos since the last 3 months, I'm a Belgian fan from Africa, also into painting. Thanks for the continuing inspiration! I'd like to see you paint a big animal on a wall someday. Keep up the good work, Slew 🥇🌴
So dope. They look incredible together! -would love to see a video about your design process and how you add certain shadows and colors. Also, info about how you print your images and type of paper 😊
This is my favorite type of video you make. It shows how passionate you are and how much you love doing what you do. Your other videos are dope too, i like how you pretty much show us everything. But these projects are the best to watch imo. I enjoy watching your vids while I sew my custom street wear... Keeps me motivated fr fr
I LOVE THIS! I'm not just saying that. I love the colors, the simple shading. Thw stencils get this wonderful crip look to the peice. The linework and flowers and is utterly beautiful. I also find the story of the girl intriguing. I can definitely see the work of a filmmaker/artist. Great work!
You really are a talented guy and your growth in self-confidence is fantastic to watch. I think the slab work was the best project you have uploaded, and just think of all the various skills it took to develop. Just keep gping, and try to remember you're an artist and avoid other people's pigeon holes. Great things are coming to you, but they're not tangible just yet. The one thing you are in control of in life is how hard you work.
I seriously love everything about your art videos and paintings. They are indeed mind blowing. You’re one of those youtubers whose videos i’d watch till the end.
Dude that guitar track when you were selecting the colors LOVE IT! That headbob the moment you finished the first layer of stencil was GOLD. PURE EXCITEMENT. Clever how you used the stencils to cover the portraits so you could do the background, unlike how you taped them in the previous video...... The ASMR bit haha too good!
Seriously the way your mind works is amazing. As you explain what you were doing with the stencils I realize that I'm somewhat lazy when planning my art. 🤔😫👩🎨
Dude, the way you've placed the values so precisely creates a bit of jealousy in me. You've got such crisp clean detail in each piece, and I can tell how much you really care about each one individually. Thanks for posting this video for continued inspiration to others!
This is awesome bro and The Slab is also awesome bro. I've been painting for a long time but you sir have made me appreciate and fall in love with all artistic processes. I'm starting my 1st oil painting this coming weekend. You're awesome bro
Wow another great art project and great video you continue to inspire me and make me push my self to produce more art and for that I thank you keep up the good work spreading the love from your fans here in England 🤘 peace out ✌️
Congrats Slew!! They came out so beautiful and clean! So decorative, also with the story behind and with this great technique, you just did a very great Job!!loved to watch the process, it’s very entertaining, specially with this pro level edit of the videos! Love Love Love!! Much love from Switzerland Valeria 👏❤️
hey man, i just wanted to say that you're a big inspiration and you've got my "creative" side vibrating and i haven't felt that since I was very young. Your art and video content is on point :)
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this video, it was very pleasing to watch & the design + overall concept is super clean! I fuck with the way each one turned out & it’s made me excited about persevering with my own art despite all the challenges I feel I face. I watched a couple of your other vids before watching this one & this definitely made me subscribe! I can’t wait to see all the great things you continue to create, I’ll be looking forward to it! I hope you get the recognition you deserve in 2020
Really enjoyed this video and dig this work. I'm new to your channel, I really appreciate how you approach painting if different ways. Thanks for sharing your art.
Just found this channel via Ten Hun's podcast and i gotta say, YEET. Nice job! That was maaaaaaaad inspiring. sometimes its hard for me to power through the more tedious parts of projects but the result is always satisfying. Looking forward to seeing more videos!
Man SLEW love your art man I’m so glad you are blowing up my man! You deserve it you stay committed to creating and bringing beautiful art into this world! 👍🏻✊🏻
I love you videos and your style of videography and your style of art! Especially how there are some many different forms of it ❤️ I hope the best for your career your already doing so well :)
Slew, been watching your videos for the past few weeks and it's re-ignited my passion for art, but I have a couple questions. Are you sanding your canvas before you paint? 2:17 If so, why? My other question is when you're cutting out the stencils, what are you using under the stencil to protect the table? Is it a mat or another piece of cardstock? 2:38 Would love to know more about that process specifically. I'm sure you've answered these before but I'd love to know or get pointed in the right direction. Thanks!
I am sanding the canvases. Not completely necessary but I like to smooth the canvas as much as possible before starting the stencil process. Also my table is glass.. an xacto blade does not mark up the glass. Thanks for the questions. I have a video specifically about the stencil process on my channel if you want to check that out!
I would like to know more of the specifics. What paper for the stencils. Tips to sealing edges. The liner brush. How to get a consistent line. Then I have to say you are awesome and I avidly watch, rewatch and am going back and will start in the beginning perhaps questions are answered there. You would make Andy Warhol jealous.
Ok I am an idiot. I found the video that answered most of my question . Time to get my hands dirty. I think it would be a different twist to have done her head but put it on backwards. Perhaps, as another dimensional layer that can be removed or added. Maybe two sided. Can change her up ad lib, hmm... I feel an idea coming on.
11:29 🤤🤤
It's artporn! Next time a lil bit slower plz!! Can you explain why do you do the background last?
