Def Leppard is a great group. Yes; the drummer, Rick Allen, was involved in a serious car accident and lost an arm after their first breakout hits. Rather than replace him, the whole band agreed to wait for him to be rehabilitated and relearn drums with one arm. Says a lot about their characters. Of course this did impact their careers to a degree, but sure didn't dim their shine. ❤️😇🙏

I met Def Leopard in Knoxville after the concert. I’m getting off the elevator and Rick Allen is standing there with a beer in his hand. I yelled Rick Allen and put my hand out to shake, Rick looks at his beer and says “I can’t shake your hand mate.” I was so embarrassed because he only had 1 arm. He was very cool about it though.
They made a custom drum kit for Rick Allen after his car accident in 84 so he could play the left arm parts with his left leg instead. Pretty amazing he still plays as well as he did before having to relearn how to play everything with his disability. Also RIP to Steve Clark.
Rick Allen is not just an awesome drummer, he is also an extremely talented painter. Some of his artwork is absolutely amazing. Plus he is a genuine, down to earth guy to boot.

A similar thing happened to my husband after going to a Van Halen concert. He had stayed overnight in a hotel & the next morning while walking down the hall he found himself face to face with Eddie Van Halen (an idol of my husband's, who also plays guitar). My husband held out his hand & Eddie transferred his cigarette from his right hand to his left hand & they shook hands. My husband told him it was a great show & Eddie thanked him for coming. My husband's only regret is that he was so frazzled by the encounter that he walked past the elevators (which he had meant to get on) & Eddie got on the elevator alone. He's always wondered what small talk may have occurred in that elevator if he had gotten on it with Eddie, but he's still very thankful that he at least got to meet him in person & shake his hand.

I grew up in the 80s and a lot of songs were like that. I seriously thought Olivia Newton John’s Physical was about exercise lol. Til I was about 20 lol.
LOVE DEF!! One of my all time favourite bands. And this track has always been my favourite song by them. Hope i one day get to see them live. Yeah, Rick Allen is amazing. The band waited for him to recover. He designed a drum kit where he'd play more with his feet, to compensate his missing arm. Amazing man, fab band!!
I watch every reaction to this song for the realization moment. Rick Allen is just amazing to be able to do stuff most drummers can barely do with four limbs. I'm going to add to the suggestions and say react to "Now I'm Here" by Def Leppard and Brian May. Old Queen song, clearly written for two-armed Roger Taylor on the drums, and Rick Allen SMOKES it.
@@413xxx86 I'm old school DL man. I dig the older sound. I think "Foolin' " carries that older sound in to their "Pyromania" days. When I get on my DL kick, I just gotta play "Foolin'" along with "Waisted", "Rock Brigade", "Hello America", "High and Dry", "Bringin' on the Heartbreak"

One of the greatest 80s/90s Arena Bands ever! They still sound great even after all these years! Their entire set is all hit songs... I've seen them 11 times in concert and got backstage passes once. Me and my girlfriend have a picture of us with the band! I love these guys! Great reaction!!
Everything a drummer would play with left hand, Rick plays with his left foot on a drum machine kit made especially for him after losing his arm. Quite incredible how they came up with the idea and it only took a few months for Rick to figure it out and get the hang of it. Amazing to be sure.
Def Leppard's name, no matter how you spell it... ;);), was inspired by Led Zeppelin. They have a whole catalog of hits.... "Photograph", "Armageddon It", Foolin'", 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak", "Love Bites" just for starters. Good job noticing the drummer (Rick Allen), No one ever does! His story is inspiring.... You're gonna love this Def Leppard journey!

I've seen Def Leppard 3 times. The last time was New Years Eve of 87. They played a solid 4 hours until midnight hit. Auld Lang Syne was sang by the entire crowd. It was pretty freaking awesome. Rick Allen played the entire time, even upside down in his drum kit! Just amazing 🥰
I had a 1989 Ford Festiva with 15 inch woofers in the back. 6 inch woofers in my doors and then speaker box with all my midrange and tweeters. My mirrors would literally vibrate when this song came on. 60 years old now and still crank this song.
They were the young whipper snappers during the metal days. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Scorpions, AC/DC, Dio etc. were the hot bands. Then the drummer got into that auto accident.
Seen Def Leppard a few times, this is their best song, seeing them again in June next year. A brilliant live, British band. We've had quite a few good ones :0)
Def Leppard was the band I listened to most as a teenage girl. I had their posters all over my bedroom walls! I saw little teenage girls going nuts over this song all these years later. 🤣🤣👋🏻👋🏻
At a party I heard a classically trained female singer belt this song out like nobody's business. Blew my mind that someone who could sing opera could change the channel, rock out her with vocal chords, sing like a rock star. This song moved that woman. Unforgettable.

The "Sugar" is metaphorical. The name Def Leppard is a tribute to Led Zeppelin, the three first part and the double z's. Even though he lost his arm before this album (their fourth studio album) he can still play any of the old stuff flawlessly. He lost it in a car accident and told the others to replace him, and they said they were in it together. That if he was not going to be their drummer then they would retire. That is loyalty! Made them SOOOO tight, you can totally hear it on this album.
My all time favorite band!!!! The drummer Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident and he created a foot kit to do what he couldn't with the loss of his arm. Amazing!

I've seen them in concert 3 times since 1988, the last time was june 2022 for the stadium tour in Atlanta. Amazing❤❤
“Hold on DEF AND DEM”- AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
Oh my Goodness this song takes me back to dancing every weekend out at the club .... this one we would all jump on the speakers and tables and dance..... thank you I am sharing with my sisters we partied hard to this ...... 80’s fucking rocked ...
My all time fave from my high school/college years. Next do Photograph, Animal, Hysteria, Rock of Ages...
I can't believe I forgot about Rock of Ages. Unter glieben glouben globen...
when love and hate collides
I spent a week shredding up my jeans like the lead singer Joe Elliott wore... 1988 was the year. I was 17 years old and Castle Farms, Michigan was hosting the Hysteria tour...GREATEST TIME OF MY LIFE! Check out "God's of War", "Pyromania", "Animal" the entire Hysteria album. I cried when the drummer lost his arm in a car wreck. I remember crying when the guitarist Steve died. This band sums up my entire youth!! Mr.VIDEO YoU have discovered the GREATEST band to ever exist!! In my humble opinion!
THANK YOU! :-) ~jenn
P.S. When my son turned 14 I took him to his first concert.... Yep, it was Def Leppard! Then when my son got married we did our mother/ son dance to the song "Hysteria!"
Your face man when you realized what this songs about! Lol!😂😂😂😂
Mr. Video before he heard the whole song "Pour some sugar on mee!!" Awe that song must be about desserts"
I grew up in the 80s and a lot of songs were like that. I seriously thought Olivia Newton John’s Physical was about exercise lol. Til I was about 20 lol.
@@angelamorrow8973 hahaha
Animal and Love Bites 💘 🔥 🔥
One of England's most underrated rock bands... Def Leppard Rock man... 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
"Foolin' " is another good one by Def Leppard
Forgot to add this banger in my suggestion list.. definitely a bad ass song. I grew up listening to Def Lep so seeing him jam out is nostalgic.
@@413xxx86 The first time I saw them, they opened for Blackfoot. The next year, Blackfoot opened for them! A couple of years later they sold out an arena in the same area.
I LOVE THAT SONG.. ONE OF MY FAVORITES
Photograph is my very favorite
Dude I seen them at the Toledo sports arena, in the 80s for the Hysteria tour, in the round! You do us proud, Leo!
In the round was so badass! They came from under the bottom of the stage! It was too freaking awesome! They will always be one of my favorite bands!
I saw them in Raleigh NC. Tesla opened. Lasers were awesome.
I live in Toledo. Saw them in Detroit in 83. Proud to say the local music scene in Toledo is awesome these days also.
I remember seeing def Leppard when I was 16 when they performed at the Dallas state fair at the Cotton Bowl it was awesome it was something that I’ll never forget. They sounded excellent live and I was stunned that the drummer had one arm such an inspiration.
LOVE this song, such a headbanger.
One of the greatest 80s/90s Arena Bands ever! They still sound great even after all these years! Their entire set is all hit songs... I've seen them 11 times in concert and got backstage passes once. Me and my girlfriend have a picture of us with the band! I love these guys! Great reaction!!
"High and Dry" (1981) is their best album in my opinion. Check out: "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" and "Let it Go."
Now you're talkin!
Truth. Let it Go is my favorite!!
Forgot.. Look Into My Eyes (Mirror Mirror) ;)
100% agree! That album is legendary!
Mutt lange ruined them
Everything a drummer would play with left hand, Rick plays with his left foot on a drum machine kit made especially for him after losing his arm. Quite incredible how they came up with the idea and it only took a few months for Rick to figure it out and get the hang of it. Amazing to be sure.
Man, miss these days.💜 these rock concerts were epic.
Was waiting for you to notice the one armed drummer and knew you did by the look on your face. Lol. Used to love these dudes when I was little. This song esp. Great reaction as always Leo!!
In 1988 this was my first big rock show. It changed my life forever! Keep Rock Alive!! 🤘🏽🖤🔥🙌🏼 ℁
I once worked at krispy kreme and some guy once came through the drive thru asking for a large cup of glaze cause it was his anniversary. I hooked him up
Def leppard are AMAZING!!!! Love bites, Two steps behind and When love and hate collide are my absolute fave of theirs but they've done so many great great great songs including this one and Let's get rocked, Armageddon it, Animal - I could go on and on!
His arm was severed by his seat belt in a car wreck that he was in. That’s pure talent what he can do with his body. Love it!!!
I've never seen a genuine reaction to the arm!!!! Brilliant! Nearly cried laughing.
Rick Allan "The Thunder God" was 15 when he joined the band. One list ranks him as the 7th greatest drummer of all time.
I would be interested in seeing this list. Who put it out?
@@christiangallagher117 I would have to look it back up, but I thought it was a bit high myself. If you are on any list of 100 greatest or better you are damn good in my opinion. I'll see if I can find it. The list is on gigwise, it's a British site but not exclusively British drummers.
@@joeevett9007 not sure if it is high or low just curious who was on the list. Do you remember who was top 3
@@christiangallagher117 Bonham, Moon and Carey were there 1,2 and 3.
Yeah right we know where you heard that song... a certain gentleman's club 🤔
🤣🤣🤣👌👌👌
😆 strippers anthem back then.
😆👏🏼
All of the gentlemen's clubs 😉
I had a 1989 Ford Festiva with 15 inch woofers in the back. 6 inch woofers in my doors and then speaker box with all my midrange and tweeters. My mirrors would literally vibrate when this song came on. 60 years old now and still crank this song.
They were the young whipper snappers during the metal days. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Scorpions, AC/DC, Dio etc. were the hot bands. Then the drummer got into that auto accident.
This was the song of the summer, 1988, I was 12, everyone loved this song. ✌️💖
PYROMANIA... NOW THAT'S THE SHIZNIT!!! DEF LEPPARD ROCKS DUDE!!!
Seen Def Leppard a few times, this is their best song, seeing them again in June next year. A brilliant live, British band. We've had quite a few good ones :0)
LOVE BITES AND ANIMAL...MORE "DEAF LEOPARD" SONGS TO CHECK OUT
Love Bites. Yes. Makes me cry
I’m 52 years old and “Photograph” is still my all time favorite song.
The whole of Hysteria?
Def Leppard was the band I listened to most as a teenage girl. I had their posters all over my bedroom walls! Lol
The lead singer, Joe Elliott, was my celebrity crush back then! 😍
I got to see them in concert in ATL with Journey and The Pretenders in 2018! It was epic!! I saw little teenage girls going nuts over this song all these years later. 🤣🤣👋🏻👋🏻
FINALLY!!!!!
Probably one of the best concerts I have ever seen. They put on one hell of a show!
React to their songs "Animal" and "Women."
Hysteria
Animal is the best
My brother's favorite song of theirs was Animal. My brother passed away about a month after this album came out
Forgot about both those I gotta go listen to it again
Mr video was dropping it hot with the sugar dance ,love it, and love this song forever, the drummer is amazing love it, love it!!😎👍🤎💚🖤❤️💜💙🤍🧡♥️🙂
"The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm" - Jimmy Pop 1996
Beat me to it 🤣🤣🤣🙌🏻🌮
One of the greatest bands of all time!! Yes I was born in 71 so I grew up in the 80s this was what we lived by😄
If there's a dance floor.... I'm dancing!!!
I'm so Glad you took a Listen. I LOVE these Rock-Gods !!!
LMAO Made you hulk out at the very end. 😂
P.S. please don't pour any sugar in the cookie. 😱😂😂
It's a metaphor for "getting some sugar" 😉
At a party I heard a classically trained female singer belt this song out like nobody's business. Blew my mind that someone who could sing opera could change the channel, rock out her with vocal chords, sing like a rock star. This song moved that woman. Unforgettable.
I hope you consider possible reaction to a group: White Snake- "Still In The Night" anyone else with me?
it's "Still Of The Night" kickass tune tho.
Oh hell yes!
Oh yeah 😈
Yes, I'm with you on that song I love Whitesnake.
Still Of The Night.
This is my absolute favorite song by them!!!! I remember I wasn’t born yet when this song came out....but my dad listened it all time cuz he loved def leopard....but I remember being 8....and singing this song!!!! Heck....I didn’t know 😂😂😂😂
My mom and toured with them. My little brothers name is Richard Alan. (Rick Alan...) if any of the guys see this mad max with the soup canister says hi. If anyone remembers Molly Chizum I’m Max and Tracy’s daughter. I’d love to see you guys again and reconnect
Whoahhhhh
so who is Rick Alan, if the drummer's name is Rick Allen ??.....r u trying to mess around with people ??.......not nice !!
@@cindyshawver9986 no?
No!!! My brother isn’t the drummer. My brother was named after him.
My mom and dad toured with them , they weren’t in the band or any band they were all friends!
I seen this tour! First tour Def Leppard did after their drummer lost his arm. I am so glad that I did see this tour because their guitarist Steve Clark passed away just a few years after this tour. He was my favorite member of the band. R.I.P. Steve Clark.
Mr Video: "have you ever tried ..?"
Me: Whipped cream, chocolate syrup, ice cream, banana split (substitution for the banana), Jack and Coca Cola on the rocks .. long list. Those that have done it, understand the value of it. All others only think they do.
Whip cream leaves that sour smell in your nose lol
The "Sugar" is metaphorical. The name Def Leppard is a tribute to Led Zeppelin, the three first part and the double z's. Even though he lost his arm before this album (their fourth studio album) he can still play any of the old stuff flawlessly. He lost it in a car accident and told the others to replace him, and they said they were in it together. That if he was not going to be their drummer then they would retire. That is loyalty! Made them SOOOO tight, you can totally hear it on this album.
come from up road from me and a one armed drummer can't get any better🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
My all time favorite band!!!!
The drummer Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident and he created a foot kit to do what he couldn't with the loss of his arm. Amazing!
Little known fact... the drummer lost his arm when he poured sugar on himself and was attacked by the honeybadger who don't give a sh*t. He was too embarrassed to tell the real story.
😂 You watch 1st508th, too? HBIC! 🤜🏼⚡️🤛🏼
@@lynnhoffmann247, I have NO idea what that is. It's a channel? HBIC?
@@elysehfm8797 Ah, my mistake then LOL. It’s a dog channel I watch & the owner named one of his puppies Honey Badger. She had to be resuscitated at birth & he often says “Honey Badger don’t care” and nicknamed her HBIC for Honey Badger In Charge. Neat guy. 1st508th Airborne if you like dogs.
@@lynnhoffmann247, ermergherd. You have to look up the original honey badger, if you haven't seen it. It was trending about eight years ago? It's SO funny.

Saw them in concert so many times, always a hell of a show
one of the greatest strip club tunes of all time!
One of my FAVORITE 80's bands!!! Wore the hell out of this cassette in my car back in the day!!! Try "Photograph", "Rock of Ages", "Love Bites"; you can't go wrong with Def Leppard! 😊
Yesss Love it!! I can't help but think of Joe Dirt...Kid Rock: Def Leppard sucks 🤣🤣
Omg yes!!! Why don’t you get a whineakin and some French cries, def leopard sucks!! I’m dead
My kids say Def Leopard sucks! Kids are stupid 😃
I remember this song being very popular at the skating rink. Giant, fluffy pom poms on the toes of all of the girls roller skates. Black lights. 80s clothing. Big hair. Awesome!
