By listening to Reggie, one can really make big moves. The knowledge is there! He's giving it away all for free!! Love the honesty of his videos more than anything. Listen up and learn.
I agree. Plans without action are just thoughts. We all must take action to take our thoughts from dreams and move them to actual goals. Having the kind of know-how Reggie is sharing, prepares us to do great things.
Reggie...you are the best. I have been designing in the active apparel industry for over 20 years and your words are golden and totally on point! I only hope the "new to the industry" folks out there listen to you and adopt what you say. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
All I’ve been doing for almost the whole year is creating designs for my fashion bran and all I’ve been doing this just preparing myself and preparing my brand for the future your videos really helps me a lot
This video is good but the reason why people who lack creativity and make basic ass brands that over saturates the market is because people constantly tell you that art and design and curating something with care isn’t as important as marketing. There must be a balance of both.
Great video Reggie it was very inspiring being that I am a designer working on my own brand for the new year Thank you so much. I am rethinking how I am going to do everything that you just talk about something’s I already know and some I did not know.
7:50 'rasha told me fli that pack and how to maintain, make that money back and spend it on the same thing' - bobby shmurda said that and i've remembered it every time i think about starting a business.
I started my clothing line a year ago and your videos help me to review my mistakes properly. It's a learning process on a daily basis. Keep going with those videos man.
Love this series alot man, you dont know how helpful you guys are- right as i was brainstorming ways to advertise my brand yesterday, today you guys uploaded this. Thanks alot 🙏
thank you reggie for this video, me and my friends had our first collaboration collection and pop up shop just recently. learned a lot from what worked and what we could have done better. the part where you talked about specifying the target audience resonated the most. an opportunity opened up for us to reach a larger fan base with the college crowd, so it totally aligned with what you said. Happy to say we did sell out of all our clothing, had a few accessories left over. One thing i was scared of thru the past year was not selling enough and being stuck with a lot of inventory, which caused me to make smaller batches. i always figured the "limited edition" route was good. But it seems everywhere in the hype/streetwear realm (not necessarily our direct market) is based on rare and limited, which as a whole makes it feel more saturated and less special in my opinion.
Moncarlo Ona in the beginning I think limited production is very counter productive. If you only have 100 followers when you have 1000 they might all be fans of a shirt that was limited to 20. When you get a decent amount of followers I think it’s acceptable to limit production and not rerelease. However until you’ve found your core audience i feel it’s hard to limit rereleases.
Most definitely, something i learned from the vape industry is its more about volume sold in the long run. Going to double or triple my order size for next run
Alt title: Things Tyler Grosso should have considered before starting Superrradical. Got nothing but love for that dude and his brand but he's also a classic "how NOT to" type individual. Great video!
Honestly needed this grail knowledge. I now know I am not just ready to launch my brand just yet. As of now continue to trial & error with my clo.line instead
I'd like to hear a bit about designers and positions, though you can do everything yourself, I started working on this as a side project but I'm not personally a designer. I guess that kinda ties in with relationship and networking though
First of all: great video, Reggie. I have a simple question that i think haven't been discussed in the previous videos. What should i do to the left over pieces from the previous collection? Like when i want to start collection no.2, but collection no.1 still have 4 pairs left with weird sizing (xs, 3xl, etc) that already discounted but no ones going to touch it. What is the best way to handle this? Thanks Reggie. This series have helped me and many others too.
You could re use the pieces for the materials, give them to friends/family and as a last choice you could give them to a thrift shop and charity shop, they would be sold to people thinking they got a steal and can alot of the people that are vintage heads know how to style pieces and they could show it off, making it in a way free advertisement, big brands like burberry use to burn pieces that didn't sell
This is just from what I’ve seen 1. Brands still sell other previous collection on website but just don’t market it. I think fear of god does this. 2. You can have a sale. A lot of brands just did Black Friday to get rid of there current collection. Alphalete just had a huge sale 3. You can just take it off and discard it. A lot of luxury brands will do this to keep it prestige and limited.
A genius thing that Marc Jacobs has done in recent collections is reach back into the less desirable pieces from previous collections and rework them into new ones. Best possible use of old releases in my opinion
make a detailed video on questions you put upp here for us to solve. Questios like CMS, OP, manufacturing, MARKETING, this one from me !! ya i am pretty bad in promotion/ marketing.
there are so many people in the budding LA streetwear scene that need to watch your videos lol i've subconsciously lost all respect for superrradical, gnarcotic, revenge, and all that trash due to them buying other brands, not showing growth, and everything you're talking about and didn't understand why i was losing so much respect for them until now... thanks!
Here’s how you successfully create your own clothing line. 1. Come up with a catchy name. example: Off-White, Midnight Studios, A Cold Wall, Supreme. 2. Come up with a attractive logo, same examples above. 3. Come up with good designs, not shitty drawings or just plastered roses. 4. Market, reach influential people, this is the hardest part but it helps a lot. 5. PRINT ON GILDAN OR CHAMPION. A lot of brands started this way for example Anti Social Social Club, VLONE, Saint Pablo merch, Fear Of God. Create a website and set up shipping. Be smart with money. :) basic but nice
That would be a t shirt label. Not necessarily a clothing line. But let's go ahead and take #4 for example. The hardest part as you call it. The details are incredibly vague and easier said than done. How many brands have done this and NOT succeed. Plenty. Also How can you explain what a catchy name is? Who decides that? The only criticism of your assessment is that it's oversimplified. And roses are nice if the design is nice. It depends on the aesthetic of the actual label. The arbitrary rules you've placed on creating a line have hindered the creativity of what you can actually do. What if you don't want to make tees or your vision is larger than starting off with something simple. FOG started with side riveted hoodies and a cut and sew t-shirt. Everybody has their way is the point. Don't over simplify it as if everyone can do it. It's more than just print on Gildan, market to influencers, done. How do you stand out, make a name for yourself, and insure future success? All questions that determine longevity in any business.
Hi, The Casual. I was just wondering as a 16 y/o how to start a brand and find friends in the business and do you have an estimate for like instagram followers and social media followers to see if a classic streetwear brand is profitable? I know it sounds silly but would love to get the questions answered. And I know... to keep it casual.
Too many people already got all the business part down lol , everybody's Art is where they're lacking .. sorry bro if you can't draw, paint or create any amazing shit outside of photo shop you don't need your own brand , your're just going to add to the list of shitty brands that mainly use a tiny script for a logo. and just because other brands sell their merch for 100$+ doesn't mean your clone of a brand is worth it , i'm not intrested in none of that minimalist shit .. too many people copy just because someone is popular wearing some goofy shoes , now everybody walking around in some goofy ass looking elongated heel space boots and shit lmao
