    CMT is a good option if you're releasing few pieces and want to make your own garments (Basically set up your own little intimate CMT)
    This method was used by a lot of brands that were the genesis of Harajuku fashion (CDG, Yohji, Milk, Nicole etc)
    These designer character brands were referred to as "Mansion Makers" (An apartment is sometimes referred to a "mansion" by the Japanese)
    Because Harajuku property and apartment prices were still affordable, post WW2, early harajuku designers moved to an apartment in the backstreets (now known as Ura-Hara), set up their own production where they lived, worked with minimal staff and used their profits to buy magazine coverage (which was really De way before this internet age)

    Yo I’ve worked with FF manufacturing for the company I work for and we work with a few and let me tell you the amount of times they try to cut corners jeeeeez sometimes they change the thread quality and yarns within the fabrics and results to majooooor shrinkage and recalls from stores and prints can be bad and cuts too I’d say best get a few CMT instead not gonna name the company I work for but it’s Canadian lol and samples cost 1000-2000$ each stage like ff, pp,ss

    If you are serious about starting a brand I would highly recommend researching trademarks. They can be extremely expensive and for a newer brands they often forget to calculate the trademark into their budget. Please please please take some time to research your personal trademark... Definitely before the sample making process. It would suck to have a finished garment with your logos on them , create products photos and video, only to find out someone else owns that logo and you need to start over . Even worse you are already sitting on mountain of clothing with buyers and you get hit with a cease and desist. Having to destroy anything with that trademark.

      Good advice but did this happen to you or someone that you knew?

      Tony Smith there was a shoe designed to looks like an Air Force 1. But had the logo of Newport . It was done on Purpose as a meme but the company Newport went after the designer hard.

    • @YarbroughCreates
      @YarbroughCreates 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony Smith also supreme did have an over seas trademark and a fake supreme store pop up in Asia. Supreme has Tried fighting it but it has been hard because they didn’t have an over seas trademark when there brand went International.

      @@JayyyCloud no that was a similar situation that I believe Reggie covered in one of his videos. the store in china that is 7 floor high(4 of them are not yet finished) was able to use the name supreme with out changing it in any way because there was no trademark there for it. so they can copy there products with out facing any kick but i believe supreme USA is doing something about it.

    Ran into problems with Lack luster or mediocre sewing work and had to put my personal time creating our garments from start to finish. This process limits the amount of pieces each collection offers and makes it exclusive drop, which is good and bad for our brands growth.
    Reggie your video was a good reminder we need to find the perfect manufacturer to scale our business.

    This is an amazing video! Thank you! Could you do a video on what it’s like to work with a CMT in detail? Do you manufacture labels elsewhere and they attach them or can they manufacture them? What’s the most efficient way to go about packaging after finishing garments? What are the best ways to source quality unique fabrics?

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      WOW. That's a lot BUT very clear answers here:
      1.Yes we can whip something up
      2. Normally with CMT you have to provide EVERYTHING. So you should supply the labels but they can apply them. Some CMTs have services that you can use to do this kind of work in-house but it will be an extra fee.
      3. The most efficient way for packaging is to get standardized boxing from a supplier, the cheapest way is to use mailers BUT that is terrible for presentation. What I usually suggest is whatever your budget allows. Also, a better way to judge packaging is to look at your favorite retailers and see how they package their items. Normally its pretty rudimentary.
      4. Fabrics are a mixed bag. You can always search for textile suppliers and many of them have the same contacts and choices. However there are specialty textile suppliers that have particular processes so it's really about making contacts and getting samples from as many textile suppliers that interest you. It's much easier now because the internet gives you access to all these suppliers world wide. So if you're looking for that special Italian jersey knit cotton, it's a search away.

    I'm going to college in September, I'm planning on working for 3 years while studying, after I get my degree and save up some cash I want to star my business.
    my question here, how long and how much would it take to become good at making my own samples ? do I just buy some fabrics and start experimenting ? do I watch tutorials ? or is there some kind of center that specializes in this area ? and again is 3 years enough (considering that I will be doing it twice every weekend, that's the only time I've got some space to do whatev I want)
    this series is really useful tysm for the work u put in, have a nice day
