I've been warning people for years about a MacBook zombie apocalypse and no one listened...
It's a newer song, they try to give Miku one song on each album. My favorite version was the acoustic one. It was amazing how much effort they put into rearranging their songs for the Christmas concert. They said it was hard to unlearn the studio version and learn the acoustic version. Akane and MISA were nervous about singing backup during the concert but did a good job. I voted for Giovanni last week but I am happy with your reaction to Sayonakidori. Next week Giovanni / Giovanni instrumental. Hopefully!
Sayonakidori is a new song off their last album. Just to let you know the scoresheet for this is available in the 'Unseen World' scorebook. It has the music score and tab for every song on the album. (Plus lots of interviews with the band members and their staff too). Initial copies came with a full instrumental CD of every song on the album (not sure if that is still available though).
The bands instrumental songs and Miku vocal songs are performed mid-set to give Saiki's voice a break (they play 2 hour + sets). Miku also does her 'Magic Time' as a break too.
I want to put in a vote for 'Why Why Why' 'Arcadia Girl' and 'Matchless Gum'
They released a score book along with a CD with instrumental versions of all the Unseen World songs, so I'm sure someone can get it to you. That Kanami outro solo actually starts with Miku singing that last part and it's great. Kanami is just a brilliant musician. Every one of those songs sound great as instrumental tracks.

Sayonakidori is a Miku exclusive. She has a "solo" song on ever album except Conqueror. Miku on lead vocals for a song, plus an instrumental, and then "Miku's Magic Spell Time" allows Saiki to take a rest during the middle of the concert. The little pigeon, on the other hand, never rests! 🕊

I've always been surprised how so many people automatically think it's Saiki singing this song, and how people often fail to differentiate between the two of them, which is baffling given the completely different voices her and Miku have.
You ask Saiki to hit that sustained high note at the end, and see how she gets on 🙂

Well, our beloved Paradise Pigeon is always good for surprises, isn't she? :) Yes, Saiki undoubtedly has the more powerful voice that suits most of the songs in Front better, but in songs like this that are so well tailored to Miku by Kanami and the rest of the 'gang', she has a well-deserved opportunity to show that she is also a pretty good singer and is improving on playing the guitar. And the fact that she arranged the acoustic version herself is also impressive imho. I keep saying it: Kobato Miku is never to be underestimated. Yes, when it comes to instruments, the others are miles ahead of her, but from my point of view she makes up for it with so many other things.
And finally, a few words in general:
1. I bow down to the great intro to this video! I've never seen anything like it before in a reaction video. Hats off! With this, you gave me the laugh of the day!
2. Giovanni is locked in a Poké Ball? Come on, that's just not right! One vote for freeing it from it as quickly as possible! :)
3. I've read 'Matchless Gum' and 'Awkward' here a few times already. I like those songs, so one vote for each as well. 😇
3. I might not make it today, but I'll see if I can make the instrumental videos mentioned in the comments 'available' by tomorrow. According to the votes, the first ones will probably be 'Giovanni' and 'Don't be long', for which I can't help but cast a vote as well at this point. 🤭

This, at this point, is definitely the song I’ve listened to the most, since discovering Band Maid. In all it’s forms it’s just magical.
After reading comments I will also recommend “Why Why Why”, and “Don’t Be Long”. And I’d like to see if I can get some support for a song that gets less fanfare, but is great and someone could get you the live video of, I am sure: “Mirage”. It’s a great mid-tempo song with one of Kanami’s better guitar solos.

Miku has a few songs where she is the MAIN vocalist, and this is one of them. the acoustic xmas concert had some different member mixes with and without the full band so it was a great xmas gift for fans(cause we LOVE their re-arrangement of their songs). Saiki actually injured her voice, so they have a break in the live for her to rest up, usually its with an instrumental or with Miku's focused song.

I wanted to address this, because of it being so close and your votes seemingly being meant to be conditional, as in, you wouldn't have voted for Sayonakidori until I did Giovanni. I've been thinking a lot about this and have wondered to myself if I should have gone the other way. I was afraid of making things more complicated for myself by honoring the condition and thus possibly making people feel slighted by conditional requests in the future. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the sense that you feel slighted by me. And I want to apologize if that's indeed the case. Please let me know how you're seeing this, so we can hopefully get on the same page, and I can learn from this.
@@jakeofalltradesmusic Well first off I think you should know that my comment was a line from a BM song (which you have not done yet) so it was a "play on words". If you look back at some of my comments you will find a lot of them.
My votes were not conditional, but I was disappointed as I really felt Giovanni would be next after the battle with Freezer last week. I was not surprised however knowing Sayonakidori dropped and everyone jumps on the new videos. So, "it is what it is, and whatever" (another quote from a different great band) bonus points if you know who!
Anyway, it's your channel and you can do what you want. My only advice would be don't lose sleep over internet comment as you can't please everyone. I do appreciate you reaching out, it shows your a person of character. 🕊
You just witnessed why BAND-MAID is so Awesome. And when they do this song on their upcoming tour in October it will be even more awesome with all the Maidiacs there. You're a bit creative Jake. I'm sure it takes some time to put this together but good thing it's summer break. Still waiting for Bubble, Choose Me, Alone, Wonderland and non-fiction days. MISA's always wonderful to listen to. She kind of reminds me of John Entwhistle in how MISA inserts little runs where most bass guitarists wouldn't think to do a run, but even that comparison isn't a great one. Also, there were songs from this show where it was just Kanami and Saiki. On the song "H-G-K" from the acoustic show, Saiki and Miku do their usual dual vocals and the other three do various degrees of backing vocals.
I have seen MISA with a mic near her side of the stage, but I've never seen her use it. Suddenly, during this concert not only does MISA have a mic, but so does Akane! Seeing everyone doing gang vocals on H-G-K was pretty amazing. Hoping they release this Christmas performance on blu-ray. Maybe they're waiting for this coming Christmas to roll around. BAND-MAID 'the non-fiction days'. Paying attention, Jake?
@@TehPhysics I’m pretty sure Akane sang some backing vocals on some of their earliest songs, at least live where I’ve seen her singing. I swear in the Freedom live, we see Misa singing into Kanami’s mic at one point.
Saiki joined 3 or 4 weeks after the first four did. She’s been there since the beginning. My understanding is the four got together for a run through of some of the first EP demo songs and Miku realized her voice wasn’t strong enough as solo lead vocalist. So she asked mgmt to approach Saiki who she knew of and admired and was with the same management company. Saiki auditioned for mgmt and was added to the band immediately. Maybe they did one tiny performance without Saiki but nothing more. She’s a founding member just like all of them.

In some ways I feel like this is the "real" version of the song and the studio cut is the alternate "technical hard rock" take. I'm pretty bummed there's not even one close-up of Akane singing. Not just because it's unusual, but because Akane and MISA singing in this concert really underlined how closely-knit a band they are.

Sayonakidori is the newest Miku song and in the Unseen World album. When Miku asked Kanami to make the song more interesting, Kanami sighed and composed the high note challenge for Miku to sing. Miku said "Oh my, what have I done! I strangled myself by asking Mincho a casual request."😂
So "Bubble" next perhaps?
Btw, "Without Holding Back" is my fav instrumental song. There are a studio recorded version and a live fan cam version of this song if you look hard for them.

Jake, you probably know it by now, but we Madiacs just love you mate and appreciate what you do. Have you got a ticket to one of their US shows this October- you deserve one. Miku's solo song from this album- she usually gets one per album. Miku's lyrics this time about Romeo an Juliet including the spoken quote. What next- astrophysics, Oh she's already done that- Black Hole. She also plays the solo chord sequense with Kanami, who solo's through the whole song. Misa- Lead bass on the acoustic version. Miku has been playing guitar in the band for some years now, but in the acoustic version she is totally exposed and for me she comes of age with this performance.
Saiki joined the Band one month later in 2013. This is a song of 2022. In the year 2013 is nearly nothing on tape. Their first CD was in 2014.

The acoustic version was "hopefull". The full band version seemed slightly frantic and desperate. BTW, Miku is credited with rearranging the acoustic version.

For me the studio audio version is by far the poorest. Band Maid in the last few years have this annoying habit of electronically tweaking the vocals. Again, in my view Saiki's voice has improved and matured, so I find it bizarre that they tweak her voice so much. Anyway, Miku voice is much better for me, in the live and acoustic version. Miku has a few songs where she is lead vocal. Rock In Me, is an example.
