Yes, it’s “A” for the pronunciation, and it’s from the German word meaning Magic.
They’ve been preforming this song for most of their shows since October 2023.

Nah it's the French version of the same word. Written the same but with the g pronounced differently. I say this because on the tracklist of the new album, the song right before this one also has a French title. (I'm French so i would know lol) also in the song itself, i'm pretty sure in the first verse you can hear miku doing a little adlib like "shu shu shu shu magie" and she doesn't say it maggie. But that's interesting though, cause i didn't know German had the same word for magic!

@@riri9195 But, Saiki tweeted on X on October 21, 2023 that she used the German word😅😅😅

@@HaroMatsuRestarted Well that's strange haha and i don't have a twitter account, so i didn't know that unfortunately. But still, funny to have a French name right before, and then a german word that's written the same in French.

Ain't no band who writes, plays and performs like Band-Maid! While I've watched Magie climb from an initial 6, when I first heard it, to a 7 and now an 8 (taken from a recent survey of my cerebral musical cortex ;-), I always appreciate the execution, sound and, once again, performance of all their songs... even starting with "Made In Japan," released in 2014 when I first became entranced with the Magical Maids. Thx, Jake!

There are actually two live videos of this before the studio track because they played it at Yokohama Arena last November, so it's on the DVD also.

Magie, French for magic according to Google translate.

Magie is "Magic" in several European languages - its derived from the Latin "Magus"
    Thanks for this entertaining reaction..
PS - The new album (September 2024!) also includes a song named "Toi & Moi" which is French for "You & Me" so I suspect their next world tour will include stops in Europe...I still hope that they also come to Canada at one point....thanks! Peace & Respect from Canada

    Nice to see you back.
I don't think this song is getting as much love as it deserves.
I have to admit that I didn't think much of this song when I first heard it November last year, partly because Saiki was struggling with those super high notes. But she sounds more comfortable in this video.
After dozens of times listening, I'm starting to like this song. This song has the 70s-80s city-pop vibe and part of the chorus reminds me of traditional festival tunes. I can imagine Saiki's vocal line in Japanese flute.
So it sounds different and fresh yet nostalgic to my Japanese ear. Now I can't get the chorus out of my head.
By the way...glad you enjoyed the song. This song is mental. 😂

I think it's Mahh jeh. I think. And Kanami has that really NASSSSSSSTTTTTTTYYYY tone to her guitar. And they had done it before however this was recorded at the sideshow after their tour finale. Where they played song that they had missed in the finale.
And I already ordered both the Blu-Ray and DVD special editions of the new album from CD Japan. I was tempted to go with Amazon Japan again, but their shipping times just take too long. CD Japan will have it here within 3 days of the release, whereas Amazon was taking 7-10 days AFTER the release to get it to me, plus they LOST 2 of my orders.
So for my Band-Maid orders, I'm sticking with CD Japan, Pony Canyon, or the Band-Maid Shop.

Over ordered mine on bandmaid shop. I know it's cheaper on cdjapan, but I thought maybe I can support the band in that way...or doesn't it make any difference?

@lurkmerchant I am not sure. But I wanted to get the bonus that CD Japan had. If I had the funds to spare, I would buy both again from all the vendors just to support the Ladies.

@@lurkmerchantGood question. CDJapan is great (I save the pretty green wrapping paper) but if ordering from the official store gets the actual band and their staff more yen, I'd rather do that.

My reaction to "Magie" is "Ow, ow, ow!" I made the mistake of listening to it on my phone while standing. So I started jumping around like a fool teenager. I'm 75. My back started hurting. My knees started hurting. My entire body started hurting! I had to take some pain meds, lay in a tub of hot water, and go lay down. They should put a disclaimer on this video. It should say "Caution, standing while viewing this video may be hazardous to your health!"
