I have had an 13R3 for about 5 years I think. It was my first gaming laptop. Recently it's started to break down, any graphic intensive game makes it crash, so it's time to get a new proper PC. It's a great choice tho. Definitely recommend it and the issue it has right now isn't too bad and I'm sure fixable, but I'm ready to upgrade so I might as well. Still works as a normal "work" computer
Fantastic review again! I have had my 17 R4 for a few days now, and it is the most amazing machine I have ever owned! I ran some test thanks to the software you recommended and I undervolted it, and under full load, and even after a couple of hours of intense gaming, she usually sits around high 60s to mid 70s! I have only played some OverWatch and DOOM so far but my goodness 120hz QHD is incredible! I have to agree the build quality of these machines is excellent down to every corner and ever port, they are built well and to last. the 17R4 is a big heavy machine, but its my desktop replacement and like 100x more powerful lol! Love it! Thanks again for all your helpful advice during the buying process Jarrod!
Thanks! Great to hear that yours is going well 😃 I've had a few requests to look at the 17 R4 too so hopefully there's one available, waiting to find out! No problem at all 😊
This laptop has become my desktop replacement. The GFX AMP upgrade is true futureproofing, and it takes 2x NVME drives. That OLED is truly magical. If you're interested, you better get on it quick as Dell confirmed that they will discontinue this laptop.
I have not heard nor seen where Dell is discontinuing the AW13 and is your source credible? I have been thoroughly enjoying my Alienware 13 r3 with Oled since March of 2017. Recently I contacted Alienware support as I was having some gaming freeze up/heat issues and they offered to replace the motherboard. Then a month later (two weeks ago) it crashed and i sent it in for repairs as the warranty had expired. Now they are sending me a new one! Love it!
I have the R13 R3 version since February 2017. i7-7700, 155GB SSD, 16GB DDR4, GTX 1060 6GB and LCD (think it's LCD anyways it's def not OLED) screen. Been quite happy with this and just waiting on USB 3.0 hub so I can install/test Oculus Rift. Got mine here in Canada, was $1800 after tax at the time, but they had made a mistake an shipped me a 1050 4gb GPU version so Alienware sent a local repair tech right to my home and replaced the motherboard. I guess I lucked out too because at the time I had ordered it I believe it came with an i5 series CPU, and the new motherboard has the i7. I only really play DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) because of limitations on my single SSD (room for a second though). Have the settings as high as I possibly can with 1920x1080, in addition to a second (mirrored) 27" monitor hooked up via HDMI to VGA adapter. 40FPS seems to be the average on this, low stress is about 60fps, extreme stress like flying through Las Vegas city scape during active combat the lowest I've seen was 27fps. With room to upgrade to 32gb and the optional "Graphics Amplifier Unit" where you can put in any GPU your heart desires there's some flexibility here to play pretty much any newer game when it comes out (within the next year or so anyways). I can see this laptop lasting me another couple years before I look at replacement for gaming needs :)
With the 8th gen H CPU out, I really doubt the 7th gen CPU laptop worth buying. Unless the price is really good. Some people don't need that many cores though I guess.
I think this is a great time to buy a laptop. If you just game, you can find great deals on 'previous gen' laptops with 1070's and 1080's due to the launch of the 8th gen intel ones. If you do content creation or other CPU intensive tasks, you finally have available true desktop replacements. Don't think we will see such a great opportunity in a very long time.
Richard Goild The Alienware 13 has not been refreshed to include 8th generation processors like the rest of the lineup. In addition, it was mentioned in an interview somewhere with Frank Azor (head of Alienware and XPS product lines) that they would not be updating the 13 with the rest of the Alienware laptops, citing unfavorably low number of sales of the 13 inch model.

Great Review. I've had this laptop for the past year. I use it for gaming during lunch at work. The screen is the best looking screen I've seen hands down. It runs Forza 7 flawlessly at 1440P. Looks as good if not better than playing Forza 7 on the Xbox One X on my 55" Samsung 4K HDR TV
Over a Year of using it ( mostly just during lunch at work everyday ) I've had no problems with it. I use it basically as a portable Xbox and play the " Xbox Play Anywhere" games on it. The one thing I had to do after the first year is uninstall the Dell update software because all of a sudden I couldn't get any games to boot up, but once I removed the Dell software that fixed the problem. Once you see that OLED screen it is hard to look at any other screen because that screen looks so damn good. Right now playing State of Decay 2 at 1440P and it looks as good and runs better on the laptop then it does on the Xbox One X. Have Fun with it!!
Nathaniel's Phone : For $1700 I would go for it at that price. Maybe boost up the SSD to 512GB so you can get more games on it. I'm running every game at 1440 and having no problems with the i7 7th Gen that I got from 2017.
This laptop was what i needed with me for travelling with a graphic tablet and for casual gaming ,really a good product ,im gonna upgrade the ram the 32gb and out another 512gb m2
I have ordered the i7 7700hk with 1060 you and oled screen. It cost $1500. How long do you think the cpu will hold up for before I have to upgrade to a newer laptop? Just a bit concerned now that I should have got a current gen laptop like the G7. I will be using it for light work, media consumption and games. Really hoping it will handle games in 1080p at medium to high settings for the next few years.
It's already been out for a while, but should be decent for a while, I still use the 6700HQ 3 years later and no problems at all, mostly for work, and as for games the graphics will typically be the limiting factor but you have the option of using an eGPU in future if you need more power.
@@LoverOfTech I agree but the problem is customer perception, everybody thinks I7 is the best and all laptop makers put I7 on premium laptops so the common people will think its a downgrade if they make an i5 laptop so thats why they won't do it.
watching this on my 6th gen AW13r3 lol xD. I've been using it for 6 months and got no major problem so far. it has amazing screen and keyboard. the only downside is fingerprint but if that's not your main problem, totally recommend it :)
Thanks! I only really test video playback watching TH-cam, I'd like to test just browsing the Internet but I haven't automated a test for that and honestly just don't have time to spend 5+ hours using it that way to test the battery, sorry.
I would love to see some reviews of some lower end laptops with i3s or Pentium CPU, lower end specs generally speaking. Some viewers might enjoy these, too, as not everyone can spend lots of money on a laptop or wouldn't want to. Also it would increase the diversity of products. But in the end the quality of your reviews is excelent, as always.
I'll review anything I'm able to get, no issues with lower end stuff. I'm not sure if companies that have laptops available for reviews generally just have the good stuff, or they only want to send those sorts of machines out rather than lower end models. The lowest end stuff I've been able to get are i5 laptops so far, nothing with an i3 has been available to me just yet.
I see, it kind of makes sense, since that's the laptops people are interested in and like to see evolving, but thing is that there are many people who can't afford them or don't want to spend a fortune. I'm not in that pack, I like to future proof my devices, get some of the best specs so it lasts for a long time. But at the same time I also like to see the way cheaper laptops get better and better. Anyways, thank you for the response and I'll patiently wait for your future videos.
The screen is a Blue-Oled type designed and manufactured by Samsung which is harder to burn in in comparison with the typical White-Oled assembled in LG/Sony/Panasonic/Philips/Loewe and other tv brands. Sadly is not going to be updated to the 8th six core cpus.
I might get this since it is around £800-900 and is upgradable unlike m15 R2 with better screen and around the same weight. Was going to check out the refurbished m15 but it had a 1070MQ instead. I will keep digging tho until I can see what older model Alienware I could get for around £1500 or less.
The Xiaomi laptop? I've tried to get one, I sent them an email and they said they aren't looking at sending any to people in Australia yet, so doesn't seem like I'll be able to get one for review unless I buy it myself, or find someone to loan me one.
I have the OLED version with 32GB and 1TB of add 960pro. I would really try Manjaro but up the moment only PopOS works fine. Linux users have suggests for AlienFx?
Hi, I've been shopping and researching gaming laptops for a while and this has been consistently my front runner. It looks like you've had yours for a little while now, how is it holding up? Is the quality good for the price (both build quality and internal hardware). I've seen reviews across the spectrum for Alienware and would be a little afraid to commit $2000 + and end up with something failing after a short while like the battery, SSD/HDD. GPU, PSU etc etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)
Killer display there, albeit a bit smaller than what I would like. How do you feel about the glossiness and reflectivity of the screen? Do reflections or glare distract you from what's going on on the screen?
I didn't really have an issue myself, but I'm usually in a dark room so it's less of an issue for me, personally I'd probably be looking at the IPS screen option just to get the matte display, but that's just my preference regarding reflections etc. It's a tough choice because the OLED screen looks really nice!
I see.I hesitate about buying an Alienware 13 with oled screen or the razer blade 14 and I’m worried about the performance of alw 13.now I think I’ve got the right answer,I always prefer the Alienware series.thank you very much!👍And thanks for your awesome review!
When will this be upgraded to the new CPUs? And what is the performance with the IPS display for those not needing touch nor the issue of burn in? Oh how I wish they had included an ExpressCard slot to accommodate the myriad legacy IO options (for music and professional use - especially as there is no conversion for legacy Firewire based DA equipment - much of which costs MANY times that of the computer!) - thus enabling it as a wonderful portable professional data acquisition platform and portable workstation - thus satisfying a dramatically under-served existing market. Similarly, an LTE SIM slot would make this complete, allowing connectivity on remote or less developed construction sites where WiFi is not readily available would make this a compelling killer device spanning myriad market segments - including professional engineering, scientific (petroleum, agric, etc), AV and other professional users.
Someone in another comment mentioned that the 13" model may not be upgraded to 8th gen, so I guess we'll have to see. Seems like there is already info on the new 15"/17" 8th gen models though, I've requested one for review but was told it would be a few months before they're available for me to check out.
I haven't tested any other 13 inch gaming laptops yet, they seem to be fairly uncommon, same for 14" I've got a couple on the channel, 15-17" seems to be most popular.
I tried to get that model for months and eventually gave up, don't think they had review units in Australia, and now as an older model compared to the new m15/17 stuff probably even harder to get a hold of :(
Thanks! I asked them about it a few months ago and was told at that time they didn't have any available for review, I just sent a follow up message a few days ago so waiting to hear back, hopefully I can get one, really want to check it out!
Jarrod, I was curious how you got started (your tech review channel)? Did companies like Dell send you review units in the beginning, or was there a certain criteria you had to meet in order to start receiving review units?
I started by working with what I had. I had one laptop from work so I received it. It was from a smaller local company, so I reached out to them and asked if they could lend me a review unit to make another video. For some reason they agreed. As the company is only local to Australia not many people were watching, so I started using the hardware I could get to do benchmark and comparison videos between different graphics and CPUs, things people actually look for. After I started to slowly grow I started reaching out to various companies requesting review units. Some replied, some ignored me (and still do) while others contacted me first and it just went from there.
@@JarrodsTech Nice man! Thanks for sharing. I would love to do what you're doing at some point because I think I enjoy testing out different models more than actually keeping them and playing games! Regardless, I enjoy your content and think you do a great job. I had just recently discovered your channel, bobofalltrades and Ownordisown. All great! I look forward to the live streams you all do! Keep up the good work!
Hard to say, basically just pure speculation, from rumours it sounds like maybe new Nvidia cards sometime in next few months, not sure how long it will be before they're also available in laptops though.
Jarrod'sTech Alright, thanks man. Because my only concern was that last time the new GPUS came out they left the previous generation in the dust. Just don't want that to happen.
Yeah I understand, at this point I'd probably just wait it out and see, from the leaks so far it doesn't sound like the jump is as high as last time, but don't know for sure until we see concrete evidence.
Yeah, just waiting on it, the last I heard a few days ago was hopefully in late May, so probably a while away still but the plan is to get one, I also want to compare with the 7577 too.
Best laptop ever produced such a compact oled and touch with powerful hardware and future proof Plz alienware make new generation of compact with oled and touch screen
There's always a link to the pricing in the description. It makes more sense to link to the product where you can find up to date pricing, otherwise in a few months/years as pricing changes the static value I've put in the description is no longer accurate, and I can't go through all the videos and regularly update the numbers, easier for everyone to just click the link.
Thanks! I'll find out, some others already asked about the R5 which I think has the newer 8th gen CPU, so would probably be better to get those out of the two.
Do you think the screen is too small for games like overwatch, fortnight and pubg. I am new to computers and am looking at this one. Not a really in-depth gamer but would like to be able to play these games. Always love the videos!
Cheers! I think it's alright, could maybe be a little small if you're used to using a larger monitor, but you always have the option of plugging in an external monitor too
What would be better for games like dead by daylight, friday the 13th, or last year: the nightmare? Alienware 15 or the GTX 1050ti? What is best for gameplay, which would run smoother when the quality is over 1080p?
I don't have ant experience playing any of those games on afraid, you can look for benchmarks on TH-cam with the same hardware to get an idea though (for example search "game name 1060 7700hq benchmark")
Is the 13" screen a bother to actually game on? Like if i wanted to play some comps on overwatch would it be hard to play with a 13" screen? Im gonna be a college student soon and i want a powerful but decently portable laptop. I really love the build quality and sturdiness of the alienware but if it is too small to game on, then i will probably go with the MSI ge63 raider rgb. I just love the alienware bcz its so strong and futureproofed. Is the 15" alienware ok in terms of thermals and weight?
It's personal preference I guess, but I think I'd much prefer at 15" or larger screen for gaming, that said if you're at home you could always connect a larger external display. I haven't used the 15" Alienware yet so can't comment, trying to get it for a review soon though!
Thanks for the quick replay man, I game on a 15" laptop rn so im used to a smaller screen compared to a monitor so i wonder how switching from 15" to 13" would be like.
Jarrod'sTech Oh welp, I just found an amazing deal for the Alienware 15 R4, it’s $555 off on Best Buy. This is probably a better choice than both the 13 and the M15.
I get the 8 gen cpus have came out But I’ve decided to get the Alienware r3 13 because it small and portable compared to most gaming laptop with a gtx 1060
Jarrod'sTech i heard about that I think it is true that there not releasing an 8th gen version but if I’m being honest I love the portability of the 13 and the fact that it can run VR it also good because i also travel a lot It is a bit on the heavy side but I can get use to that An tbh I already ordered it 😂
Yesss thank you, just as I was trying to find 2018 reviews of the Alienware, your video popped up. I want to buy this one for the OLED screen, but I want to wait for them to update it to a 6 core processor. Also, can you review the MSI GS73 (8th gen)?
Good timing! Someone else in the comments mentioned the 13" model might not be getting an 8th gen processor, so guess we'll just have to see. I've got the GS65 from MSI coming next, then I hope to get the GE63VR Raider (both 8th gen) so it will depend on availability, I don't think the Australian team has a large range of models available for review.
Fair enough! Just had confirmation it's being sent out today 😃 busy times! Currently have the Aorus x5 v8 and Acer Spin 5 at the moment too haha, goodbye sleep.
hi, i have the same model. Is it normal that u can hear a realy quiet "klick" noise when the fans start to ramp up? It sounds like a hdd, but only for one second.
I don't recall having that with my unit, but if it only happens for a little bit might just be something spinning up and it's probably fine if it's not continually happening.
I Got It As Soon released from HiDevolution maximized. It's awesome but really too much bezels... I love OLED but I am selling it now. Which one cold be a good selling price?
Cool, hope you get a good sale price! I'm honestly not sure how much something like this would go for these days as I'm not in touch with the second hand market, check out previous sales in your area to get a rough idea of what to go for.
Checked the price mid video and ouch! 1500? Way to much, especially when dell got a g series that do more, dell g series lack on screen/display and battery.
This is an older model, from late 2016, and you could turn all lighting off including the logo - not sure on the newer stuff yet, hopefully I should be getting some soon so I'll mention it in the review once I have one!
You seem to comment on others comments can you help me find the perfect gaming labtop which is perfect I don’t wanna go over 1,500 but I don’t wanna spend a lot of money on a expensive laptop if a cheaper laptop can provide me with the same quality (sorry if that’s hard to understand) which one should I consider to get. I play games like gta 5, overwatch, fortnite please reply on what you think I should purchase
Overwatch and Fortnite will run great on a 1050Ti in my opinion, whereas GTA like CPU, so a 7700HQ or 8750H CPU laptop with 1050Ti or above would be pretty good I think, I'd probably go for the 1060 and it's in your budget. I haven't looked at too much at $1500, mostly around $1000 and then close to $2000 or above. Something like the Dell G5 or new Helios 300 will be pretty good I think, and closer to the $1000 mark too.
Jarrod'sTech wow thank you so much for responding! :) I just one thing I have no clue on anything you just said could you translate that to English I’m really not that good with the computer language just starting up with the pc/laptop gaming and I wanted a laptop that can run overwatch and fortnite really well I’m able to spend up to like 1000$ or more but I definitely wouldn’t want to go past 1500$ thank you so much for such a detailed response :) Edit: You suggested the Dell G5 and the Helios 300 which one would give me better quality gaming :D
The Helios 300 will give you better gaming, as it has 1060 graphics. The Dell has 1060 Max-Q, which performs around 10% less, still a good option though, and the Dell has better build quality, battery life, and Thunderbolt port for future eGPU expansion. For best gaming today out of the two though, Helios 300 wins.
Jarrod'sTech yeah, it would be great to see them in high end models for now and slowly lower in price.. besides, this laptop with the oled version is not that massively more expensive than the lcd one I believe
Man I wish it has 144hz screen. I don't really mind glossy screen since I'm usually in a darkroom, so no reflection problem here. I'd rather lose the touch screen ability for higher refresh rate. Btw dude are there any presets for the keyboard? Like ripple effect or fading away effect....
There are higher refresh rate options available, just not with OLED, I don't think OLED refresh rates go that high yet. There were some effects in the AlienFX software, I can't recall what they were but there weren't many, just a small amount.
I’ve heard that some Alienware 13 r3’s 1060 graphics card’s TDP would be permanently turned down from 75w to 50w when its temperature goes up to 85 C and last for about half an hour which makes it performance like 1050Ti,only if you reboot the system or disable the dedicated graphics card can save the problem.does your r3 have the same issue when benchmarking or gaming? Thanks a lot.(and pls ignore my poor English😂)
Hi there, I got the same one as in the video, and I had got some problems related with temps, but I just used the DELL's warranty; they changed the heatpipes and problem solved. Plus I undervolted it, and max temperatures playing Overwatch did not overpass the 78 °C in GPU and CPU (Low settings 1080p). So consider to get a extended warranty when u are buying it, just for precaution... as well as a thermal paste change. Don't know if it helped u... good luck. P.S. sorry for my english :(
I have this laptop with 1060 gtx and at 1080p high settings I get only about 70-95 fps average in Fortnite (in the video the average is 105 fps and lowest is 70 fps) and that's even worse when I glide over tilted towers I get 40-60 fps and average 50 fps... please help me why is it underperforming?
That game is difficult to compare as you get different frame rates in different areas and it varies even more based on what other players are doing, you're better off comparing performance against one of the games with a built in benchmark as it will be a more reliable comparison.
Jarrod'sTech Thanks a lot for this answer it put my worry away. I'll try unigine heaven and see what results I get. My apologies for not answering earlier I never got the notification for some reason... Thanks a lot!
I have this exact laptop runs the games basically same fps except for overwatch I'm not sure why but the frame dips a whole lot down to 20-40fps for like 3 seconds every few mins starts at about 20 mins into playing the game, any idea what I should do? makes it hard to play
Overwatch is hard to test and compare as it depends on the map you get / what other players are doing, that's why I test just playing with the bots in the training matches. You could check the resource usage and get an idea of what's happening when the dips occur in case it's something like a brief overheating issue.
Thanks! Yeah they do generally cost a bit, but also seem to have lots of extra features that others don't, so I suppose depends if you value those or just want the cheapest thing that does the task, options for everyone is always good 😃
To start out i built a desktop back a when the 4th gen came out but wanted to possibly do some minor upgrades. But i wanted a few opinions from laptop owners as the desktop is taken to much space and ill be on the road way more now with my new job then ever before. I was thinking about selling my desktop by the part with its 4690, 8gb ram and 1080 ti to purchase a alienware laptop for two reason, for the solid build and for the graphics amplifier. Right now i dont play AAA games as much as i use to and play older titles more now so my 1080 ti is over kill so i feel the 1060 is more then enough for me but would like the amplifier just incase down the road i do play more demanding games for when im at home as when im moving around i wont mind playing at 720p medium to high if i have too but at home i would prefer high to ultra at 1080p. So now to my question, is this a great laptop for my usage and wondering how this laptop is with oculus rift as i own one and wondering how it would perform while using it. Thinking about ordering this from dell refurbished as they have had great pricing on them, if i buy new i will just go with the 15in instead.
The 1060 is really great even for current AAA games at 1080p / 60FPS with decent settings, should be pretty good in a laptop, although it is about 2 years old now so will be interesting to see how it holds up over the next few years after the next gen is out, I reckon it'll be pretty decent for the next few years though but just my guess! Based on what you've said yeah this laptop sounds like it will meet your requirements, I haven't personally tested any VR out for myself but most of them seem to list 1060 graphics as the base requirement so should be alright there too, but with the amplifier you would probably get a better result.
Jarrod'sTech thanks for the fast reply, i am debating about keeping my 1080ti and when i order the alienware i would pick up the amplifier at the same time. My plan is to keep my two desktop monitors and i have a place the amplifier would sit and when i get home i would just plug the alienware 13 in and i would have a laptop cooler (even if i may not need it, ill have it for better cooling) that the laptop would be placed. The only thing im not liking about the 13 is the lack of usb (and no slot for a hhd for extra storage as m.2 are expensive) i plan to purchase a external hhd for home applications and only place the things on the laptop that I'll be using on the go. But the plus side is the small size would make it portable for me.
Yeah you could use the 1080Ti in the amplifier, personally if it were me it may be a good time to sell, this is just a rumour but in August the next generation might be out so might not be a bad time to sell and get something else in a few months if you need it. Not sure if you saw my recent video on the Mantiz Venus eGPU enclosure, I tested a 1080 on a 1060 Max-Q laptop and after the Thunderbolt bottleneck the performance wasn't that different, but yeah 1080Ti would probably make a larger difference, and I think the alienware one uses two ports so you might get better performance, not sure about it to be honest as I haven't tested one myself.
iv had this laptop for 2 years roughly now ant it runs fine im probably gonna upgrade the ram because thats the only problem i have rn and i broke one of the keys it poped off an wont go still clickable tho i commented 1 year ago on a account call JTJ if u remember i probly gonna replace the keyboard n upgrade rap soon depending on the price and mbey the screen because i dont want to replace this laptop it handle game 2020 fine
I've never played either of those games myself, but you can look up benchmarks of it running on other 7700HQ/1060 laptops, for instance: th-cam.com/video/FuuqP_zqGgw/w-d-xo.html
I have this laptop a few days with GTX 1060 and OLED screen.Retailer stated this model GTX 1060 overclocked at factory and states "GTX1060 OC" in Dell supportassist configuration tool.Any way to find out exactly how much it was overclocked? I downloaded a few benchmark programs but never used them before so not sure exactly what figure I should be looking at.I have included a few initial benchmarks below Firestrike 9160... Firestrike extreme... 5036....Time spy 3762 PCmark 10 ..2995.When I open benchmark programs it states 1405 MHz but I would have thought it should list overclocked Mhz. Quite sure 1405MHz is default 1060 Mhz.Could be wrong though. Any help appreciated.Specs include i7-770HQ CPU. 16 GB ddr4 (2 X8) 512 GB ssd
Check GPU-Z see what the reported clock speeds are, and/or use HWInfo/afterburner to monitor clock speed in real time while using it. Usually if you just open afterburner on a pre overclocked GPU it will not say 0 on the GPU core and will instead have something like +100
@@JarrodsTech Had phone call from Alienware support. My GTX 1060 is actually overclocked after all, bit confusing as shows overclocked in Dell system /support assist but support team said initially it wasn't. Anyway although a small overclock it is still welcome. Hit 1848 MHz peak in Doom. Happy with that. Always nice to have a little bit extra. Support guy was very good and rang me exactly when he said he would. So pleased with Alienware support, answered my emails very quickly too. Read more
Depends on your budget I think, the Dell G series are fairly good machines for the price, whereas with Alienware you tend to pay more for slightly more premium build quality and extra features.
Maybe more of a case of, be slightly more satisfied than otherwise, I still think you'd consider yourself satisfied with the cheaper G series, going up in price really starts to result in diminishing returns, especially in terms of actual performance I doubt there would be much if any difference if both laptops had the same specs.
Thanks! Not at this stage unfortunately, I send back all of the laptops that I review after a few weeks, if I got to keep them I'd be doing regular giveaways for sure as I don't need that many haha
Never tested any of those, probably though 1060 graphics is great for basically any game at 1080p, you could find other benchmarks of those games on the 7700HQ/1060 combination to get an idea of what to expect.
Depends, personally I'd pick the aero as I really like how think it is with the power you get. Technically the AW15 would perform better in games as it's got the 1070 rather than max-q, I've got a video comparing the differences in the 1070 and 1070 with max-q, basically the 1070 was quite a bit better in my tests, however it wasn't clocking anywhere near as high as the one in the aero so I suspect the differences would be less
i was really hoping the 15x would get 1440p (60hz) but 144hz was a fair trade. not a fan of OLED in my phone though, really wouldn't want it in a laptop
Jarrod'sTech my phone got burn in in like 6 months, had it replaced and the 2nd one is starting to do the same 5 months later. i think im getting the cat s61 next lol might be the only phone that holds up to my abuse
Jarrod'sTech i have a moto z force right now, highly regret it cept it was half price. would not recommend. ive broken 6 or 7 screen protectors so far, so i definitely need a more sturdy phone. hey you could totally add in phone reviews! if you have the time to do more videos lol.
I did some early videos of the 6P and 5X, but that's just because those are the phones that my partner and I had 😛 I don't currently have any contacts from phone companies so that would probably be difficult to arrange to start with, maybe I could look at "mobile devices" more broadly if the channel gets bigger, I feel like the phone space is much more competitive and companies would be too busy sending all their review units to larger channels, just a guess though.
Jarrod'sTech thank you very much for your response ! Im looking for a laptop for college and home entertainment , i still have a 144 hz benq monitor so it would be awesome if i could use that while gaming at home. I love the oled display to watch and edit videos. What exactly do you mean by depending on the resolution?
No problem! It's got DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 2.0, so you'll be limited to those specifications: DisplayPort 1.2 supports 144Hz at 1440p: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Resolution_and_refresh_frequency_limits HDMI 2.0 can do the same: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video So you'll probably be fine as long as you have 1440p or below.
I can't really say as I only had it for 3 weeks or so, I can't really know about long term usage without being able to keep a product, which isn't something that's happened yet with any of the laptops I've reviewed unfortunately, otherwise I could do follow up videos after using them for a year, would be interesting! For long term reviews looking at things like Amazon reviews can be useful, just keep in mind that you might be listening to the vocal minority when it comes to issues by doing that, difficult to know for sure if something is common unless a lot of people are reporting similar issues.
I've been trying to get that one for a while, they never seem to have it available for me though. I should hopefully be getting the Alienware M15 this coming week though!
Why even dell Alienware doesnt follow slim and powerfull workstation laptop design like msi & gigabyte nowdays they could attract some entry level user with it
Alienware's design is a bit out dated as it's heavy and thicc (sorry) screen is also too small (I know it's meant to be 13") least they have RGB!!! I don't have much to say for the laptop today but. Great review Jarrod!!! Screen quality is 10/10 though! (When you hear someone say "Fully Lit!")
I ordered 8gb of ddr4 2400mhz ram today! For my laptop it'll be the first time I've owned or even used a laptop or pc with more than 8gb of ram! I'm excited, should be arriving before the weekend.
It depends on the version of HDMI/DisplayPort your laptop has: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Resolution_and_refresh_frequency_limits Going by that, for 240Hz at 1080p needs HDMI 2.0 or higher, while DisplayPort needs 1.2 or above.
Honestly not sure, I don't think it will matter as long as USB C > DisplayPort works fine, if both are 1.2 then you should be good to do 1080p 240Hz I think.
I hope Alienware keeps offering the OLED display in the future.
Yeah it's expensive but definitely a nice optional feature to include.
@@JarrodsTech how much would you pay for it?
@@PatonCavaney i paid $1900 (australian) with a i7 32gb gtx 1060 and an oled display
I'm concerned about the burn in issue. I hope MicroLED can comes out ASAP.
@@Kylo_Ren_2033 Just bought one used for 750. No burn in issue with the LED. Thermal throttles a lot even when undervolted.
Still works as a normal "work" computer
mine still works like new i just need to replace the thermal paste, sad to see someone elses start to die
I've had my AW 13 R3 w/ OLED display since January of 2018 and haven't had any issues with burn in
That's good, thanks for sharing your experience so far 😀
Joshua Amador are you still enjoying your laptop?
Jareth Authement yeah of course
Your channel is so good bro, small but good quality, that's why i subscribed to you. Keep up the good work ✌️
Thank you!

No problem at all 😊
Nagisa I'm glad you got a 17". I don't understand why anyone would buy a 13in gaming laptop. Especially when it isn't very light weight.
This laptop has become my desktop replacement. The GFX AMP upgrade is true futureproofing, and it takes 2x NVME drives. That OLED is truly magical. If you're interested, you better get on it quick as Dell confirmed that they will discontinue this laptop.
Oh thanks for letting us know!
Here's the source: watch?v=mQEtlkDUy30
I have not heard nor seen where Dell is discontinuing the AW13 and is your source credible? I have been thoroughly enjoying my Alienware 13 r3 with Oled since March of 2017. Recently I contacted Alienware support as I was having some gaming freeze up/heat issues and they offered to replace the motherboard. Then a month later (two weeks ago) it crashed and i sent it in for repairs as the warranty had expired. Now they are sending me a new one! Love it!
13 is the only size I'd get from Alienware
I agree, but why do you say that?
Good to hear it's going well, and that free i7 upgrade sounds pretty sweet!
They have a refurb with OLED , 1060gb , i7 for $1100.00
right now!!
With the 8th gen H CPU out, I really doubt the 7th gen CPU laptop worth buying. Unless the price is really good. Some people don't need that many cores though I guess.
Yeah my friend just bought a 7700HQ laptop a few weeks ago, he got a good deal and didn't need more than 4 cores.
I'm considering getting a i7 7820 as it should emit less heat than the new 8th gens
I got a discount of SGD400 on a Razer Blade with a 7700HQ. At these prices, they're worth it as most games depend on graphics more anyway.
Don't need that many cores?I want all the cores ,all of them.
For a second I was thinking this was going to feature the 8th gen 6 core cpu.
I’ve always wanted to get my hands on one of these. OLED is amazing 👍
I wish! Hopefully I can get some of the newer models with 8th gen CPUs 😃
I thought the Alienware 13 was now discontinued.
Brian Sun why did you think that?
Richard Goild The Alienware 13 has not been refreshed to include 8th generation processors like the rest of the lineup. In addition, it was mentioned in an interview somewhere with Frank Azor (head of Alienware and XPS product lines) that they would not be updating the 13 with the rest of the Alienware laptops, citing unfavorably low number of sales of the 13 inch model.

I'm waiting to get sent one, the last news I had last week was that they might be available late May for me.
I wish the G series was available in India. Hope it launches here soon :(
Well I always liked alienware's desktop and laptop designs. What a great laptop to do a video on! Keep up these videos!
Thanks 😁
Great Review. I've had this laptop for the past year. I use it for gaming during lunch at work. The screen is the best looking screen I've seen hands down. It runs Forza 7 flawlessly at 1440P. Looks as good if not better than playing Forza 7 on the Xbox One X on my 55" Samsung 4K HDR TV
Thanks! Good to hear you like it 😃
CJ Worm i just ordered this product with max specs except for storage. I was wonder how is your long term experience with it.
Nice!
These is legit the only 13inch laptop with a proper dedicated gpu from Nvidia in there. Thats awesome, hope they update it to 8th gen 6 core
Yeah it's pretty uncommon
They won't. I guess its because the 8th gen is too hot for the 13 inch model they can't even keep their 15 and 17 inch cool with the 8th gen.
roslolian11 well at least they should do a Core i5 8300H update
@@LoverOfTech I agree but the problem is customer perception, everybody thinks I7 is the best and all laptop makers put I7 on premium laptops so the common people will think its a downgrade if they make an i5 laptop so thats why they won't do it.
watching this on my 6th gen AW13r3 lol xD. I've been using it for 6 months and got no major problem so far. it has amazing screen and keyboard. the only downside is fingerprint but if that's not your main problem, totally recommend it :)
Yeah I still use a 6th gen laptop with 970m and works great still 😃
How long is the battery life for everyday use? Great review btw
Hmm interesting, I wonder if 6 cores is too much to cool in the space perhaps?
Aaron Bossy and with that atittude less sales, I fu*king love the 13 Oled a friend has :(
Oh fair enough, hadn't heard that! I personally value portability so if I was to pick any it would most likely have been the 13", but that's just me!
I might get this since it is around £800-900 and is upgradable unlike m15 R2 with better screen and around the same weight. Was going to check out the refurbished m15 but it had a 1070MQ instead. I will keep digging tho until I can see what older model Alienware I could get for around £1500 or less.
Yeah fair enough, RIP m15 R2 with the soldered memory :(
Hey, i am waiting for your review on MI GAMING LAPTOP which was launched few months ago. Can you do it?
The Xiaomi laptop? I've tried to get one, I sent them an email and they said they aren't looking at sending any to people in Australia yet, so doesn't seem like I'll be able to get one for review unless I buy it myself, or find someone to loan me one.
Jarrod'sTech It's ok let's hope for the best till it gets released world wide
I hope that changes things, would really like to test it!
I have the OLED version with 32GB and 1TB of add 960pro. I would really try Manjaro but up the moment only PopOS works fine. Linux users have suggests for AlienFx?
Hmm I didn't try any Linux distributions on it myself, hopefully someone else can help!
Enmy Myen iv order the oled one
Hi, I've been shopping and researching gaming laptops for a while and this has been consistently my front runner. It looks like you've had yours for a little while now, how is it holding up? Is the quality good for the price (both build quality and internal hardware). I've seen reviews across the spectrum for Alienware and would be a little afraid to commit $2000 + and end up with something failing after a short while like the battery, SSD/HDD. GPU, PSU etc etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)
@@jasper_saberwolf the biggest issue is the battery life....
BEST REVIEW ON YT HANDSDOWN.
Thanks Brendan!
Can you put a hard drive on it?
No I don't think so, but this was also back before I opened them up for the review so I didn't see myself.
Honestly.. You deserve much More
Thanks! We'll get there one day 😁
Jarrod'sTech We are always there to support you 👍
👌
No problem! I hope you like which ever you pick 😃
Been watching your videos lately and all i can say is "Welldone", quality and not biased. Subbed and liked, also waiting for 15R4 review :D
Thanks, and welcome to the channel! Hopefully not too long until I can get the 15 R4, just waiting for them to have one available for me to borrow.
@@JarrodsTech if you do, please take the 1060 version please. I heard there were some kind of heating issues with the 1070 and 1080 models
Depends if they give me a choice haha, usually they just have one thing and I'll be thankful to get what I can get 😁
When will this be upgraded to the new CPUs?
Strong. Do you have any other 13-14 inch gaming laptop recommendation?
I haven't tested any other 13 inch gaming laptops yet, they seem to be fairly uncommon, same for 14" I've got a couple on the channel, 15-17" seems to be most popular.
Master Jarrod how about a review of Alienware 17 R5. Thank you!
I tried to get that model for months and eventually gave up, don't think they had review units in Australia, and now as an older model compared to the new m15/17 stuff probably even harder to get a hold of :(
Awesome review. could you please review the Alienware 15 R4
Thanks! I asked them about it a few months ago and was told at that time they didn't have any available for review, I just sent a follow up message a few days ago so waiting to hear back, hopefully I can get one, really want to check it out!
so will be waiting for your review
Thanks! Cool, hope to do more streams with them in the future 😁 let me know if you need any other info on starting a channel!
How long do you think are the new range of GPUS out? Should I get a new laptop now or better to wait?
PS: I don't mind waiting.
Hi Jarrod. Are you going to get around to review the dell g7? Possibly compare with the dell 7577? Thanks.
Yeah, just waiting on it, the last I heard a few days ago was hopefully in late May, so probably a while away still but the plan is to get one, I also want to compare with the 7577 too.
Jarrod'sTech you had me at "yea".. 8-). Thanks!!
How Long Does A Full Battery Of This Laptop Last With Gaming
Battery is covered at 6:14
Best laptop ever produced such a compact oled and touch with powerful hardware and future proof
Plz alienware make new generation of compact with oled and touch screen
OLED should be coming back this year!
Muhammad Mushtaq qureshi i am also waiting for new generation 13 inch gaming laptop. But there is none. Aw13r3 is the best ever
put the price in the description. first thing i look for on a video like this
There's always a link to the pricing in the description. It makes more sense to link to the product where you can find up to date pricing, otherwise in a few months/years as pricing changes the static value I've put in the description is no longer accurate, and I can't go through all the videos and regularly update the numbers, easier for everyone to just click the link.
Hey Jarrod! Very nice video, can you review the Alienware 17 r4?
Cheers! I think it's alright, could maybe be a little small if you're used to using a larger monitor, but you always have the option of plugging in an external monitor too
Jarrod'sTech thanks! I'm not really used to anything (don't have anything to game on now and am just getting into it) so it should be great!
No problem! Ah ok then well it's probably fine, but yeah if it's an issue could just attach a 24" monitor at home or something 😃
No problem! I guess it's not too much different between them, but yeah personally between the two I'd prefer a 15" for long gaming.
Here's hoping they bring a 1440p OLED G-sync 60 Hz to the Alienware 15. Would be a great match for the 1070 MaxQ.
Sounds like a nice combo 👍
I am considering Alienware 13 or the Alienware M15, which one would you say is a better choice?
Hmm M15 is available with more powerful specs but also runs hotter. The M15 is a similar size though, I'd probably go the M15.
Jarrod'sTech Oh welp, I just found an amazing deal for the Alienware 15 R4, it’s $555 off on Best Buy. This is probably a better choice than both the 13 and the M15.
Yeah probably, all comes down to the price though.
Jarrod'sTech I just noticed that some of the laptops such as the Area-51m could only be purchased on Dell. Is it reliable to have a laptop delivered?
I get the 8 gen cpus have came out
But I’ve decided to get the Alienware r3 13 because it small and portable compared to most gaming laptop with a gtx 1060
Fair enough, I heard the 13" model isn't being refreshed with the 8th gen CPUs, not sure if that's true though but the 15" models have them.
Jarrod'sTech i heard about that I think it is true that there not releasing an 8th gen version but if I’m being honest I love the portability of the 13 and the fact that it can run VR it also good because i also travel a lot
It is a bit on the heavy side but
I can get use to that
An tbh I already ordered it 😂
Nice, hope you like it!
But is a 13 inch screen considered small or is it fine for gaming ???
Plz answer me
It was a bit small, I wouldn't want to use it for a long period of time, you could connect a larger monitor at home though.
Needs a Coffee Lake refresh to make it a great laptop 4 work too. RAM 2400MHZ not 2666MHZ
Yeah hopefully I can get a newer model for review 😃
Oh, okay that's totally fine. GS65 is a good one too. I'll wait a little bit and if they end up not updating it, I'll just go for it.
Fair enough! Just had confirmation it's being sent out today 😃 busy times! Currently have the Aorus x5 v8 and Acer Spin 5 at the moment too haha, goodbye sleep.
Jarrod'sTech Alright! Goodnight!
Hahaha, nah I meant that I'll be losing sleep with all these laptops 😁
It's oled? So it is better than other laptop screen?
It is OLED, I guess better is subjective.it looks nicer, you get true blacks, but they have issues with screen burn in over time.
hi, i have the same model.
Is it normal that u can hear a realy
quiet "klick" noise when the fans start to ramp up? It sounds like a hdd, but only for one second.
I don't recall having that with my unit, but if it only happens for a little bit might just be something spinning up and it's probably fine if it's not continually happening.
i loved this video please do the new alienware 15 R4 next with the new coffe lake chip :D thanks
I've asked to see if they have one available 😀
I Got It As Soon released from HiDevolution maximized. It's awesome but really too much bezels... I love OLED but I am selling it now. Which one cold be a good selling price?
Cool, hope you get a good sale price! I'm honestly not sure how much something like this would go for these days as I'm not in touch with the second hand market, check out previous sales in your area to get a rough idea of what to go for.
@@JarrodsTech Thanks! I guess we will in the OLED laptop era soonest
Checked the price mid video and ouch! 1500? Way to much, especially when dell got a g series that do more, dell g series lack on screen/display and battery.
Yeah the Dell brand has some more wallet friendly options, Alienware in my mind was always their premium/high end options.
The display tech we're really waiting for is microLED.
Hadn't actually heard of it, sounds good / expensive 😛
is it possible to turn off the giant glowing ALIENWARE logo? i heard in old models you can turn it off, but not the newer one
This is an older model, from late 2016, and you could turn all lighting off including the logo - not sure on the newer stuff yet, hopefully I should be getting some soon so I'll mention it in the review once I have one!
Alienware is a beast! I hope you review the all new rog zephyrus gm501. Nice review btw!
Thanks! I should be getting it in a few weeks, just waiting for them to have one available for me, but we've been discussing it 😃
Hey Jarrod please update the Aero 15x v8 video. I saw your comment that you underclocked the cpu and it didn't throttle anymore.
I've actually got a dedicated video to undervolting the Aero 15x coming out tomorrow, once it's out I'll link it in the review video.
:) I just one thing I have no clue on anything you just said could you translate that to English I’m really not that good with the computer language just starting up with the pc/laptop gaming and I wanted a laptop that can run overwatch and fortnite really well I’m able to spend up to like 1000$ or more but I definitely wouldn’t want to go past 1500$ thank you so much for such a detailed response :)
Edit: You suggested the Dell G5 and the Helios 300 which one would give me better quality gaming :D
Jarrod'sTech alrighty will definitely check that out thank you so much :)
No problem, good luck!
thats a great screen for photo and video editing, well done DELL.
Yeah it's quite nice, the first OLED laptop I've used.
I am not sure if the new 17 with 8th gen have the same excellent screen. If so, my next laptop will be that one.
Hopefully I can get one for testing! Just waiting for them to have them available.
Can you tell me what does 1% low means ?
Great video by the way 👍
Thanks! This video explains it better than I can in a comment 😛 th-cam.com/video/l6WgbfG_z-k/w-d-xo.html
Thanks a lot 😁
No problem!
Oled monitors/laptops need to come asap
Would be nice! As long as the price of OLED also starts dropping 😛
Jarrod'sTech yeah, it would be great to see them in high end models for now and slowly lower in price.. besides, this laptop with the oled version is not that massively more expensive than the lcd one I believe
watching the OLED screen with the heat camera was fun haha
I didn't notice anything like that, my tests were about on par with other 7700HQ / 1060 laptops that I've tested.
1050i is drastically different. Did you get the 8gb or 16gb
Check Mate I haven't bought yet and I want to get 16gb i7 1060.If Jarrod says it won't throttle when heavy load, then I can buy it safely.
Don't know if it helped u... good luck.
P.S. sorry for my english :(
Maximiliano Ramos thanks,I’ll consider this matter.
Jarrod'sTech
Thanks a lot for this answer it put my worry away.
I'll try unigine heaven and see what results I get.
My apologies for not answering earlier I never got the notification for some reason...
Thanks a lot!
Jarrod'sTech by the way did you land in cities like titles towers?
I have this exact laptop runs the games basically same fps except for overwatch I'm not sure why but the frame dips a whole lot down to 20-40fps for like 3 seconds every few mins starts at about 20 mins into playing the game, any idea what I should do? makes it hard to play
Overwatch is hard to test and compare as it depends on the map you get / what other players are doing, that's why I test just playing with the bots in the training matches. You could check the resource usage and get an idea of what's happening when the dips occur in case it's something like a brief overheating issue.
Very good review! Although i find most alienware laptops/pc's Very overproced and they should not cost as much as they do.
Thanks! Yeah they do generally cost a bit, but also seem to have lots of extra features that others don't, so I suppose depends if you value those or just want the cheapest thing that does the task, options for everyone is always good 😃
^ and Alienware laptop are well built (Material and stuff)
Not sure if you saw my recent video on the Mantiz Venus eGPU enclosure, I tested a 1080 on a 1060 Max-Q laptop and after the Thunderbolt bottleneck the performance wasn't that different, but yeah 1080Ti would probably make a larger difference, and I think the alienware one uses two ports so you might get better performance, not sure about it to be honest as I haven't tested one myself.
iv had this laptop for 2 years roughly now ant it runs fine im probably gonna upgrade the ram because thats the only problem i have rn and i broke one of the keys it poped off an wont go still clickable tho i commented 1 year ago on a account call JTJ if u remember i probly gonna replace the keyboard n upgrade rap soon depending on the price and mbey the screen because i dont want to replace this laptop it handle game 2020 fine
how well does it play games like street fighter 5 and killer instinct?
I've never played either of those games myself, but you can look up benchmarks of it running on other 7700HQ/1060 laptops, for instance: th-cam.com/video/FuuqP_zqGgw/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the quick reply
No problem!

Can it be used for CAD design? I have an old gaming laptop and it heats up so much when using Rhino 3D that it crashes.
I didn't explicitly test that, but the specs are good enough I think, and the temperatures under stress test should show you a worst case scenario.
Jarrod'sTech thank you. How can I do that test? Is there any software for that?
Good information 💪🏽💯
Perfect Jarrod's Tech. I'm loving it
Thanks!
Please do the Dell G3,G5 and G7 next please.
I'm still waiting for them to arrive, the last I heard was hopefully they'll be available in late May.
Jarrod'sTech Thanks for the reply Jarrod! Will be looking out for your review.
No problem, I'm looking forward to testing them!
Should I spend my money on the Alienware goods or the Dell g series.
Depends on your budget I think, the Dell G series are fairly good machines for the price, whereas with Alienware you tend to pay more for slightly more premium build quality and extra features.
Jarrod'sTech So do you think that the Alienware is more of a pay that big price but be satisfied for a very long time.
Maybe more of a case of, be slightly more satisfied than otherwise, I still think you'd consider yourself satisfied with the cheaper G series, going up in price really starts to result in diminishing returns, especially in terms of actual performance I doubt there would be much if any difference if both laptops had the same specs.
Jarrod'sTech Thanks man!
Jarrod'sTech will you be giving away laptops? I love this one and the review. 😶
Thanks! Not at this stage unfortunately, I send back all of the laptops that I review after a few weeks, if I got to keep them I'd be doing regular giveaways for sure as I don't need that many haha
Jarrod'sTech Right. Good to know. :)
This one seems to be damaged...
What can I play with this Star Citizen CRYSIS, Battlfield 3 PlanetSide WARFRAME any of those?
Never tested any of those, probably though 1060 graphics is great for basically any game at 1080p, you could find other benchmarks of those games on the 7700HQ/1060 combination to get an idea of what to expect.
What should I pick ( aero 15x v8 or Alienware 15 r4 1070 oc or razer blade or pro 1060) help
I've had an OLED phone for over 2 years, used to it I guess, looks nice 😃 expensive though.
Jarrod'sTech my phone got burn in in like 6 months, had it replaced and the 2nd one is starting to do the same 5 months later. i think im getting the cat s61 next lol might be the only phone that holds up to my abuse
I hope it goes better! My 6P has had no burn problems so that's good 😃
Jarrod'sTech i have a moto z force right now, highly regret it cept it was half price. would not recommend. ive broken 6 or 7 screen protectors so far, so i definitely need a more sturdy phone. hey you could totally add in phone reviews! if you have the time to do more videos lol.
What if you get 4K plus 400 plus storage and matte finish
What if indeed.
So if i understand correctly, the aw13 has a 60 hz screen.
But can i connect my 144 hz benq monitor to it to game on 144 fps ?
Thanks in advance !!!
Yes that's right, external 144Hz should be possible too, depending on resolution.
No problem! It's got DisplayPort 1.2, and HDMI 2.0, so you'll be limited to those specifications:
DisplayPort 1.2 supports 144Hz at 1440p: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Resolution_and_refresh_frequency_limits
HDMI 2.0 can do the same: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video
So you'll probably be fine as long as you have 1440p or below.
Jarrod'sTech just one more question i promise! :P
Does g sync work when i hook up my benq with the aw13? (the monitor supports g sync)
I'm not certain, but I think it will work while connected over DispalyPort, I didn't test myself as I didn't have a G-Sync capable monitor.
I've heard that these alienware computers tend to go bad after a year or so. Is this true?
I can't really say as I only had it for 3 weeks or so, I can't really know about long term usage without being able to keep a product, which isn't something that's happened yet with any of the laptops I've reviewed unfortunately, otherwise I could do follow up videos after using them for a year, would be interesting! For long term reviews looking at things like Amazon reviews can be useful, just keep in mind that you might be listening to the vocal minority when it comes to issues by doing that, difficult to know for sure if something is common unless a lot of people are reporting similar issues.
Ok thank you for the suggestions!
No problem! Good luck 😁
Can you do the msi gs65 vs aero 15x?
Yes, that's in the works 😁
Jarrod'sTech yes! Ill be the first one to watch it
Jarrod'sTech cud u provide a date ? Like did u receive the unit ?
No solid date, but heard yesterday the GS65 should be sent to me soon, probably 2-3 weeks by the time I get it and make the review.
Please review asus tuf series. Their cheapest gaming laptop
I've asked for it, waiting for them to be available in Australia 😃
Is this the new one?
Nah, it's been out for over a year now. I'm trying to find out if I can get the new ones 😃
I'm buying the one with 1070 GTX 8G AT COSTCO RIGHT NOW IS 1.299.99
Nice!
Please do the alienware 15r4 and the dell 9570 :)
Hopefully! Trying to find out if they're available.
Jarrod'sTech Thank you!
What is the price?
Discussed towards the end of the video, and updated pricing can be found using the link in the description.
Please review alienware 15 with i7 8750H :)
I've been trying to get that one for a while, they never seem to have it available for me though. I should hopefully be getting the Alienware M15 this coming week though!
@@JarrodsTech cool :)
I decided to buy this laptop :) I cant wait to play games on it i herd is great for editing n software ass while
Sounds good let me know how it goes 👍
How did you find it?
What is the price? Nvm I saw the end.
😎
With Dell releasing six core coffee lake for both XPS15 and G series budget gaming lineup, Alienware really lose their feet in the competition
The R5 laptops have Intel 8th gen too, hopefully I can get some of the newer ones!
Why even dell Alienware doesnt follow slim and powerfull workstation laptop design like msi & gigabyte nowdays they could attract some entry level user with it
Dell has some fairly thin stuff, I don't have a problem with different companies doing different things though, then we have more option and choice 😃
Thermal vs durable. There are not many laptop can out aw durable. . That is why they choose to make it thicc
God I love this channel
Thanks Brett!
Thanks! I like the design personally, but yeah I noticed it was on the heavier side, I'm guessing lots of cooling needed for these specs.
I ordered 8gb of ddr4 2400mhz ram today! For my laptop it'll be the first time I've owned or even used a laptop or pc with more than 8gb of ram! I'm excited, should be arriving before the weekend.
Nice! I went from 12gb for 8 years to 64gb late last year, it was quite a nice change!
Does this comes with high refresh rate 1080p?
Not that I'm aware of.
I wonder my 1080 i7 6 core laptop able to connect 240 H z
It depends on the version of HDMI/DisplayPort your laptop has:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Resolution_and_refresh_frequency_limits
Going by that, for 240Hz at 1080p needs HDMI 2.0 or higher, while DisplayPort needs 1.2 or above.
@@JarrodsTech type c to DP 1.2 or mini DP to DP 1.2 ? Which is better ? :)
Honestly not sure, I don't think it will matter as long as USB C > DisplayPort works fine, if both are 1.2 then you should be good to do 1080p 240Hz I think.
Is there a 144hz option available?
It looks like only 60Hz in the 13" model, the 15" and 17" have optional 120Hz upgrades though.
Jarrod'sTech ok thanks!
Isn't it weird gaming on such a small screen
Yeah I'd prefer larger and would definitely use it with a plugged in external screen.
To me the Aero 15x makes this look outdated straight out of gate. Why would you buy this over the Aero?
It's also been out for over a year 😛 from late 2016 I think? Hopefully I can get some newer models too!
Jarrod'sTech ah yes ok, that would explain it.
Does the aero have an oled sceeen?
