I see those in the background of AVGN's videos and wondered what those were. I think the Mogwai were playing them in the first Gremlins
We need to know avgn's opinion on them. They're always sitting in the back waiting for a review.
Oh yeah yeah
No, we don't.
Fuzzy Dunlop ok
Yes, yes I agree!
"It runs on FOUR MOTHERFUXKING C BATTERIES. Now, tell me, what would you rather do? Run to the store and buy some C batteries to play your Frogger or whatever, or just go to your local arcade? What're you gonna do with batteries, play at the fuxking beach? Did Coleco have some kinda deal with battery companies to sell more batteries? What were they thinking? ASSSSSSSS"
I remember when someone brought one of these into school. I was so jealous!!
Bought the Donkey kong one for 3$ some years ago on a yard sale... amazing how well built they are.. still working flawless to this day.
omg memories!! i had frogger and ms pac man, cousins had regular pac man and donkey kong..still remember the frogger theme like it was yesterday....i want to go back in time :(
I had, or rather my parents had, the entire series of these. I remembered a few nights before Christmas catching them playing with them so they had to give them to us early. At the time we LOVED them!
I still have my Ms. Pacman from back in the day! I always loved that thing...
I had the Ms Pac Man one. Would play it on road trips. One of those ‘jewels’ I hope to add into my collection.
I originally had The Pac Man that I got for Christmas when I was four but lost it,however over the years I acquired one through a family friend a few years ago for Christmas, loved it then and still love it today along with the newer versions from My Arcade and Basic Fun
I had Galaxan as a child, I have no idea what happened to it. It was a blast to play.
I had the Donkey Kong and it was very fun to play.
I wore out the button....
Seeing this I remember having it and playing it a LOT! I loved these stand alones.
I'd love to see a longer form review with the designers explaining how they adapted their titles. That was quite an effort for a VFD display. *don't forget the cheesy commercials.
Man I love frogger, played that game so much back in the days.
I love your Frogger, so beautiful. I have my original Pac Man and Donkey Kong mini arcades. However Donkey Kong no longer works, and its missing the sticker on top. still looks cool.
I got the Galaxian for 75 cents at a yard sale
What a lucky man you are
NANI
Lol
I got given one for free
And didn't take care of it cuz I didn't understand what it was
love your opening and ending themes
AWESOME! I'd be keeping my eyes open for these babies!
This came out when I was 4, woah!
This was a great topic for review. I remember that I used to play these all the time when I would visit my aunt back in the day. God I miss the 80's...
I've got the "Pac-Man" and "Galaxian" units that I recently dug out of storage. The cabinet on "Galaxian" was broken on the left side (was like that for years) and I was able to finally fix it with Super Glue Gel (which didn't exist at the time it broke). Worked like a charm; much better than regular Super Glue ever could with that type of plastic. It's missing the battery cover, but I noticed someone on ebay selling 3D printed replacements. May try that at some point. Wish I could've found the "Frogger" one years ago; would've definitely grabbed that one for the collection.
I used to have them jury rigged with a 6V calculator adapter but lost that about 30 years ago. I might try making a new one, or throwing a(n) AA or AAA holder together to plug the leads from it onto the contacts since I've got plenty of those around here. (Thanks, HarborFreight Cheap Battery coupons!) =)
Awesome as usual!
I remember getting Galaxian for Xmas when I was a kid but was disappointed because I had wanted Donkey Kong
Looks fun!
I still have The Galaxian one 40 years later!!!
I have the Donkey Kong mini arcade. I'd love to have the Frogger one some day, but don't see myself paying that much for one. :P
I remember these from Gremlins (Donkey Kong) and also in the back of the car on National Lampoons Vacation (Pac Man).
That was short.
My parents kept my Frogger game!
Alwyas seent these around, but never picked one up. Cool little video.
It's cool stuff! I've never seen these for real, I would like to try one out. Good footnote! :)
Holy crap, I got a Mrs. Pac-Man one for $0.50 at a garage sale!!
OMG. I used to have the Donkey Kong one and I loved it! I wonder what happened to mine.
We used to have the donkey kong jr. one. It was awesome.
I have a coleco zaxxon tabletop. I would like to get them all they would look awesome on my shelf.
Man, that's sweet.
Wow, I wasn’t even aware that this channel has been around for so long.
I wanted one of these so badly as a kid. Just bought one from eBay. Finally haha!
I have all the Coleco Tabletops plus Qbert , Defender, Donkey Kong jr..all of them in the box near mint condition.. it cost me a pretty penny to own them all and near mint..back in the day I was only 12 years old and I always wanted to own at least one of them but never did because they where to expensive for me to buy..now I'm 43 years old and I been hunting this things for the past 5 years in flea markets with no luck. until I came across Ebay LOW AND BEHOLD !! found them all.
My brother had donkey kong back when, now I got a qbert one myself.
I played these when I was a kid. Some of my younger uncles had some. I was probably around 5 or 6.lol I still remember them though.
Had the Galaxian one. May still have it somewhere...
I keep seeing the frogger one on your shelf
Cool EarthBound ending!
cool man, just picked one of the Pac Man ones at the Good Will for 15 bucks, also it works like a champ.
Are still new arcade cabinets being produced and if not what were the last ones?
Hi nice video dude!
There are Coleco Frogger Mini Arcades on Ebay for around $100. I'd buy one if i had a Museum.
I'd be interested to see how galager played on one of these. My cousins had one when I was a kid but ether it was broken or maybe it was just because it wasn't plugged in. I believe it was a pack man one. I wish I'd been able to play it back in the day.
Question, is the Coleco Donkey Kong Jr machine the same as the Game & Watch one Nintendo released?
I got a Ms. Pacman one, but I also got a Q-bert one that is a mini arcade version.
Another Pacman Coleco mini-arcade owner here. It looks great sitting on my shelf. No idea if it works anymore.
I have the Pac Man one. It's in decent shape, I guess; Probably could sell it for as much as it was worth back then in it's condition. I haven't tried to turn it on in years, though, so who knows for sure if it's even sellable.
I had the PAC man mini arcade up until a few years ago before I heavily got into games. I lost it and have no idea where it is and now I see it all the time and have found out there super expensive and Now I am bummed out because I will have to raise some serious dough to get a new one.
I almost had a near mint donkey kong from a flea market for 5 but by the time my mom gave me the money it was gone. My friends had beat up one but it still worked and was awesome. I never played the others though.
I didn't know Coleco started these. I only remember the Ms. Pacman one from them. However, I did get to see imitaters. I once met someone who had a mini arcade of Popeye, which was interesting.
It says sega on the side. How cool is that lol. Even before they were big they were making waves somehow
history made fun
i have like 5 of these things my friends family gave me all of them when he passed
regardless of any home system's graphics etc, nothing was quite like being at the arcade itself.
I had one of these as a kid. It was of Gottlieb's Q*Bert.
Some company re-released these things, they are for $30. The Walgreens near my house have had this since 2 months and nobody buys it. I mean, $30 for just one game you can play online
i got one from a very kind reseller for 40
I used to have the DK Junior one, but I have no idea what happened to it. I think it eventually stopped working, anyway.
My local thrift shop has a CIB frogger one for $40. I can't afford it right now though :(
i saw Four Sometime in Amazon for $120
If I had the money , I would buy it for you !
what do you mean you can't buy it? i could easily buy the CIB frogger for you (if i wasn't under 18 and in the uk)
Hard to believe that these old table top ports of classic video games are older the the Tiger LCD games, but they had better quality graphics. That’s kind of sad.
"...If you're looking for a wonderful piece of thread through the ministries, definitely pick up alito meaning arcade."
LOL Google Translate Captions FTW
1:14 Hey I've been there 3 times!
I have the donkey kong coleco right next to me.
What is the song at 1:45?
It sounds familiar
Jacob Feldpausch Ness's victory theme from Super Smash Bros. Melee
cool
I’m not sure what’s more mini, the arcade cabinet or the episode.
These were back in the days when a 5 minute video was considered long. So back then this was accpetable
Yes Street Fighter 4, Dragon Ball Heroes and Yu Gi Oh Arcade Terminal
I had a Zaxxon one.
I just the mini frogger arcade for christmas
+Spideydoesgaming You missed a verb. :P
+antdude lol, I got*
My sister had the donkey Kong one, don't have the Vegas idea , on what had happened to it though...
so thats what those things are in AVGN's basement
Growing up, I wanted one of these SOOOO bad... :\
I have the Pacman mini arcade
well im glad i own 2 packman ones
Lucky is the one who has the complete set of these mini-arcades
i have only seen these in videos
Is bad I want to gut it and make it run a cm4 and custom pcb, make the controller more versatile more buttons for a lot more games, rechargeable batteries, and custom stickers/decals... A boy can dream...
Mine ran 6 D Batteries.
Why so short? Because its a mini? :(
i found the frogger 1 at a garage sale for cheap. wish i knew better then.....
@inuyasha103190
I'm 27. Handhelds and similiar were starting to be just Sega and Nintendo when I was a kid, so you probably didn't grow up seeing anything like these.
I always think of Gremlins.
My pac man mini arcade is not worth $100, I believe it was only up-to about $66 on Ebay, however an unopened version was at about $110
I played these still in my diapers, in the late 70s
Hi. The look of EL displays is better than backlit LCDs in most cases:-) Just like Nixie tubes. God bless. Proverbs 31
This sound reminds me of corner the waffle 1:46
It's just Ness's victory theme song for Smash Melee and Brawl.
Like the original arcade versions more
PC FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
60 dollars? In 1982 you could buy ZX-81 for just 50...
There is a PAC man one at my grand parents house.
