used this function on a 10 hr trip... ACC helped me when my leg from cramping up as well as my back PLUS being tired from an all-nighter trip. Adaptive cruise control worked when it was 3 am so it was really dark and I ran into hard rain. Still braked automatically and kept the same speed even though I could barely see anything. Best thing ever.
I just did a 10 hour rode trip I was the driver for the 2nd half in my cousins Tacoma I was pissed I couldn’t find how to do it didn’t wanna wake him up since he was driving the first five hours 😂😂
I just upgraded from a 1999 Tacoma SR5 to a 2021 TRD SPORT, this to me is Like driving a spaceship lol. Nevertheless, does this cruise control setting drive the car by itself, as in do I need to accelerate? I’m Such a noob and dummy. Or do I still need to accelerate but it’ll only reach a certain MPH?
As long as your cruise control speed number is set, it will accelerate up to that number by itself (unless traffic is blocking you from doing so). Congrats on the upgrade!
I’ve always hated the location of the cruise lever, I forgot how many times I turn wiper on/off instead or vise versa. I like the way it functions though. My double curse is that I also have a 4Runner and the steering wheel is identical. You’ll think muscle memory will take over but two years so far for with no such luck.

Very helpful video. I understand my new adaptive cruse control much better now. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Super helpful video thanks man. How do you turn it back off completely?
Press the button at the end of the stalk. There will be no cruise control lights on the dashboard when it's off completely.
Does the brake light come on constantly?

Will it bring the car to a complete stop?
Yes, on 4th Gen Tacomas. I'm not sure about 3rd Gens.

I hated the adaptive cruise in the taco. I switched it to standard cc everytime
