That flimsy omega springs will eventually fail on the Bugout, guaranteed. The Ka-Bar is much better value for money and can do everything the Bugout can do without the worry. I've got both, and my Bugout hardly sees the light of day because I don't feel that I can rely on it. Dozier for the win definately.

The Dozier is my most recommended budget knife. It fits well in the hand, the blade is long enough to do some work, it has a strong lock, decent steel (for the price), it is light, and it's a wicked slicer!

Great video. I agree, the Dozier is a workhorse of a tool knife. Had mine for about a month now and am super impressed with it for the price. The blade is so thick and stout yet overall, a very lightweight and well-balanced design. I mean its a ka-bar so you really can't go wrong. Great value. The level of quality you get at this price point, it cant be beat. The lockup is so tight it actually almost feels like a fixed blade. I think everyone should own one of these knives whether as an EDC, backup, or bugout bag knife.

I carry dozier 5-6 years and nothing is so simple and useful. Zytel plastic is very good, warm to use and never scratches. only I wish, its blade thickness be thinner, about 2.0-2.5 mm and full flat grind blade. it will be perfect for me. You Are So Wright, In this moment this to model (Dozier and Bugout) are the bests for edc.

I finally bought a bugout. It is the limited edition KnifeCenter version. At first I was very, very, impressed even though I don’t like the Axis lock (after 15 years of experience with it). I was horribly disappointed when the Axis lock felt gritty and actually locked at a sideways angle. I couldn’t believe it. Because of the lock I wouldn’t trust it in a emergency. Thanks for offering some alternatives, which I am very interested in. Hopefully my experience with the bugout is not representative of the brand.

Finally, someone did a side by side comparison on the Bugout/Dozier, and I'm glad it was you who did it Paddy. Must confess, wouldn't mind having a Bugout in my pocket, just don't want to shell out that much money in one. Meantime, my Dozier sees a lot of pocket time, and I still can't believe what this incredible, versatile folder sells for. Thanks again, Paddy, and keep up the good work. Hi, Paddy! I do actually own a mini version of the KA-BAR Dozier orange handle, with a black blade, and you're right it's a cracking little knife, albeit smaller. It's that light you don't know you've got it on you!
Only carry it around the house of course because of the pathetic laws we have. But that Bugout has been tempting me for some time now, so you might have just swung the decision for me!
Love to you and yours, my man! By the way-keep doing what you do, I'll never get bored with knives, EVER!!

You did a great job on this comparison review. The knives were all very similar and the price was very different. This gives people an option to try at a lower price to see if they would want a bugout. None of them had the same fidget factor and I doubt they have the same warranty. Great review as always I certainly hope you keep doing these as the options are really nice to have especially for people just getting into knives or just don't have that kind of money. Enjoy your tea. I will be looking for the next review.

The Kershaw would probably be my choice because of the flipper. Had the Ka-Bar had left handed Stud I might go that way as I like lock back over most other locking mechanisms But you;re not going to find a lock back with a flipper! Really appreciate the comparison. If nothing else you're giving an economy knife similar to the high-end. Though the 3 knives are similar, each has its own bit of uniqueness in design. I have a Skyline and it is one of Kershaw's most solid designs. The Bugout I think was geared to those putting together a bugout bag and wants to be mindful of weight. It also is for the EDCer who wants a very light carry. It's easy to see why the Bugout has a devout following. I think if I wasn't afflicted with this terrible sickness (and it was my primary carry), I'd probably even invest in some after market scales, there's _so many!_ In fact, it would make a lot more sense to do that than get the Gold version, which at _$750_ is pushing the boundaries of reality. I suppose the other thing that irks me about Benchmade is that G10 is _still_ a premium material. Seems pretty dumb in 2019, when even a $12 Ganzo can manage. Still, tough knife to beat in my book.

Frankly, I've generally given up on the idea of "lightweight" anything for daily carry, unless somebody has come up with the world's most durable material that also happens to be the lightest weight material known to humankind. Around here, EDC has to mean (seriously) "get home in one piece". It's a big city with lots of big city problems, and due to economic, drug and mental health issues colliding bigtime, a reasonable human being can easily see that it's become a "jungle" out there, at least in my area. So, no more "lightweight" anything for me, with the above proviso about materials. My EDC knife has to be bulletproof, my boots have to be bulletproof, my clothing has to be bulletproof, my pocket emergency kit has to be.....OK, you get the idea. That Bugout, at around 2 ounces, ain't on my bulletproof carry list at all. Not even for church. Especially for church. ;-) Those Doziers are pretty great knives for the money, tho. Mine have been relegated to my workbench and/or package opening.

Long term use I'd trust the other knives in this video versus the bugout. The cheap clones like Ganzo honestly use springs just as thin. If someone prefers the axis lock the Manix ball bearing axis lock is way, way, way more durable.

That Ka Bar would be the one for me, but maybe that's because I'm a tight yorkshireman lol.

Wondering why you didn’t include the Ganzo F753m1. I love mine, have several colors in G10 and the carbon fiber model.

Ive still got mine and love it. But sometimes keeping the channel fresh you have to change your comparisons. And the two i used look more like the bugout. Hope you understand atb paddy. 👍😊☘️

Ka-Bar blade shape is agly as hell , and not good for real wood carving , I re shape my Ka-Bar and now is good....but is very long time work in made in hand work...in Finland and Sweden knives is made for carving and ready for work .

Learn how to sharpen, or just get an automated sharpener it's not like they don't exist if you're not into the whole sharpening process. I really don't get people who complain about sharpening if they don't use their knife so much that they'd have to do it at least every other day.
