Crazy thing is that I used to see these things on the road from time to time on a semi-regular basis in Sydney back in the late 80's to early 00's, just as I'd see the Ford XC Cobra's driving around back in the day. Both vehicles that the dealers had trouble getting rid of at the time but are now absolute collector's items worth huge dollars...
My dream car. Loved them since they came out. Cost 80K on release here in NZ. Went for a ride in a Perkins modified one way back in 1990. Should have purchased one back in the 90s when they were cheap.
Had the pleasure of fixing a puncture in a tyre on one of these driven by Tomas Mazera in the late 80's. Tomas was in town promoting a new Dunlop Tyre (can't remember which one) and he came into the tyre service where I worked. He was a nice guy. Pretty sure it wasn't the Dunlop LeMans A4 as Allan Moffit was the celebrity driver for promoting these from memory. Can't say it was a pleasure to meet him though.
Love this channel. I’m into jap crap but my girlfriend’s old man was a Holden head. Since his passing I’ve been starting to seek out more about the cars and have developed an appreciation for how unbelievable these cars are considering they were made here.
Larry Perkins thought these were crap compared to the Group A VL. That aside I knew of a woman who brought one of these Brand new because she liked the fact that ut had a Handy Baby Change table on the Boot. It was her daily driver. That Particular car got stolen out of her Mechanics Workshop one night along with a Replica that had no gearbox in it.
Mmm, regarding the stolen vehicles from a mechanical workshop, I'm getting strong "somethings very fishy" vibes with this one here 🤔 haha. Did you happen to suspect anything dodgy yourself?
@@Jazz_Tamatea Why is it fishy? If you want to make enquiries to check validity ask Ballina NSW Police about the Walkinshaws and the Convertible BMW that got knocked off out of a Workshop and Photographed going through the St Helena Speed Camera near Byron Bay. a few years ago.... The Walkinshow with no Gearbox was towed through it by the Stolen BMW.....
Love both Group A VLs (the most successful Commodore in terms of Group A wins). The HDT is probably more sentimental as it marked the end of the relationship (well it and the Director) between Holden and Brock. Wheels, I think, did a lap of the country in one prior to its launch. The HSV SV5000 was also an incredible and very underrated car. From memory, I think it had one of the first IRS?

Great car in their time.
The body kit is wild. Yer very cool.
Vl had best line up with hdt and hsv models and iconic calias front

Even a replica would do
Could we get the really long raw driving footage?
The Director in one of these are worth more.
Yes the Director is nice as well but much more rare as HDT didn’t build many of them.
The VL director, yes only nine made, but is also very ugly and no one wants them. Just about everyone can appreciate a VL Walkinshaw.
With a whopping 185kw. 😂

to 100km/ph was 6.7 (wheels car magazine)
.....would have been better with a tweaked turbo RB30.
