A Sensible Manual V8 Family Car - VE SS Wagon Overview
If that really retailed for $20000 in '87, adjusted for inflation, it cost as much as Model 3!
I remember seeing a Camira resting on 3 wheels after one had separated from the rest of the car when exiting a carpark.
304, not 308. Destroked 1mm since early 1985 (to comply with Group A touring car rules)
The car market is shocking man im not sure if its worth trying at the moment might be worth holding on to it for a bit
Nice VK
All that money for an ls....
The pinnacle of luxury vs a VW.
LateniteNate would be a good contender
I remember driving the VN brand new, the V6 manual was faster than the V8 I definitely remember that because nearly put my money down on a new one, think they were round the 33k mark back then for V6.
When I’m a millionaire, I will buy it for you, bro👌
New Camiras, regularly serviced, served their owners well and stacked up the miles. Owners of high mileage second-hand examples who avoided, or couldn't afford regular oil changes, topped-up their cooling systems with tap water and generally abused the car and it's maintenance regime, are responsible for giving rise to a bad reputation. It was the same with any other make/model of car if abused and not properly maintained. The pick of the crop was the multi point fuel injected 1.8 that came out shortly before the throttle-body ADR27A motor. In all fairness the Camira was an excellent package for it's time and fared well when compared with it's competition.
Those wheels ruin it
Believe it or not, some clueless prick will buy it
you should buy this VS Caprice
hi man kaja showing a very cool on the channel vs the VS vs Calais the VN vr station wagon I hope you get to it soon man🚔
Just more GM junk.
Not a vl anymore to my eyes
For a build at this level he probably spent a lot more than that, I would have this any day over a cheap Porsche or other expensive euro.
Be awesome but where are you gonna drive it. Its not a daily!
Looks fat asf but the price is way out my budget
Being from the UK i love seeing video's on aussie ford's and holdens
@@meirionwilliams-w1p Thanks mate!
Find out how much the seats cost second hand in good condition and compare the price for retrimming
The VS was a ripper, great feedback, heaps of fun to drive.
Hope you’re not wearing stilettos and fishnet stockings mate😂👌 while you are driving
@@korkad204 I was actually
@@commodoreman1 pull the other leg son 😂👍 cough cough with the right modifications they are HSV killers
As a mechanic I will say this about all cars really, Maintenance is key with anything. If you can’t afford to spend at least $3-5k on maintenance even for most mainstream vehicles then you should not be complaining about runnings costs. This is just a fact of running a car you need to maintain it. I do not ever advocate for trying to run a car on a budget it will cost what it costs to keep it on the road. It costs a fortune at the dealership because they know they have you by the short & curlies. You need to find an honest mechanic which is rare these days because we can save you thousands $$ on what the dealership will charge you. A lot of modern Japanese cars nowadays need regular maintenance too.
Hi buddy what I have noticed over the years that most European cars after 10 years how many do you see on the roads not many . But you see a lot of Toyota Falcon and Honda Honda Holden ?
@@ianmccarthy4195 Exactly. The cost to maintain vs there value is crazy
@@ianmccarthy4195 that’s because hardly anyone can be bothered to maintain them. If you keep up the maintenance then I have seen my fair share with 250,000k -300,000k going strong. I currently have a 2015 Audi Q3 as my daily it has 160,000ks apart from regular oil changes & a new thermostat at 100,000k it has never let me down. Whereas my partners 2019 Mazda 3 has been in for 5 recalls & bunch of warranty work. That said I would not buy a post 2020 Euro car new as they are now built to a price point. With no thought about the people who will inevitably have to fix them when they breakdown.
@@commodoreman1 I will agree with you if you visit dealership. However if you visit a euro specialist independent then the cost is quite comparable to a high end Japanese brand such as a Lexus. It’s not all doom & gloom.
It’s about maintaining them. Go to Europe and strangely enough it’s full of old European cars.
love your collection of cars. would be happy with a couple of them but the both the boss and wallet says otherwise
do you own all of these?, wanna come review my uncles wh statesman ls1 350 made special blue black colour all original mint condition
Worth at least $400
It’s a cheap shitbox, that’s all really…
I don’t know, I’m not a big fan of Statesmans and Caprices. I hate the square back and round front.
What those seats mate you’ll never see that anymore😂👌
I actually saw this car on Highway Patrol the other night and Senior Constable Ash Bowden was driving it. He's the cop with redish hair with a receding hairline. He's also a massive douchebag. He was definitely bullied at High school too.💯%
i wish i had a sh!t ton of money so i could buy things like this
I knew a builder who bought a 2 year old xr6 turbo fg, took the ute tub off and put an aluminium tray for work on it.
I think a vq caprice would be a good part of the collection
If these were RWD and literally were a mini VL / better Gemini - that would be dope.
Are you trying to pronounce utility vehicle? 😂😂
Nope. Ute, mate.
Didnt know aussies had a caprice😂
Damn didn’t know they made a Holden caprice knew they made a Chevy but the new Chevy caprice is literally a commodore with Chevy badges so makes sense
An yes the car on the road that you for some reason always see having one different color hubcap. A dent or chunk missing from the plastic front bumper or one of their wing mirrors is grisly taped together 😂
No lie, i love both the aussie and US caprices
Missed my 1983, but I have love for the bubble tops too. This is my first time seeing a Holden Caprice, because I'm Oklahoman lol I'm impressed
I worked for a Holden dealer in the early 90s and my first drive of a Camira was a 1982 JB 1.6 carby auto. Basically had to drive it flat out all the time while watching bits and pieces fall off it. Then I tried JD 1.8 carby - big improvement - JD EFI - big improvement again - and finally JE 2.0. Compared to the JB it was chalk and cheese, plenty of grunt, though the auto needed another gear for open road, but the manual - 5 sp overdrive - could cruise way beyond freeway limits with ease, and get the wheels chirping pretty hard at the lights. The only down side was with the extra grunt there was a bit of FWD torque steer, which the JB didn't have because it didn't have the guts - couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
Stick a few mowers on.
I'm planning on getting one soon probably thinking about selling my SRT8
This reminds me of a JE Camira SL/E around me. It’s in shockingly similar condition, but it’s in a chocolate brown/beige colour. I haven’t seen it in a while, but it is a testament to the current owner. It’s a shame our automotive industry was doomed to fail. We made some cars that (almost) anyone could be envious of
How can anyone get remotely excited about the Camira? Seriously? Imagine what he'd be like if he got into a Mercedes-Benz or an Alfa Romeo!
Why didn’t it come with climate control?
Hey mate, you would happen to have a tutorial on how to seperate a side mirror on one of these cars for painting?
After doing all this, did it fix the problem of shutting down after 30min ???
I did my apprenticeship on the JD and JE and liked them for what they were. It would be great of you could do a review on a JJ (New Zealand model based on American front end). I wouldn't mind getting a JE and possibly eventually converting it to EV.
