Congratulations! Gorgeous original car and restoration. My mate has 2 x BT1 VicPol genuine in absinthe yellow in his garage for many years. Untouched. I can recall that the interior A pillar had holes from the removal of the chrome flexible mic the police used during the time
My mate used to Race one of these in the Australian Production Car Championship in 1988 and a Relative of Mine Ordered and Brought the Second last ever VL Turbo off the production line. It was a White Manual SL. If I recall it was the last one off the line that had the Standard front end on it. The Last one I'm pretty sure was a Calais.
His is The one with the racecam in it in this video.... th-cam.com/video/_pTidfFD0p0/w-d-xo.html The VLs were consistently Hosed off by the RX7 that year.....
put a rb25 head on it 😉, also technically holden Never made a turbo straight 6 either, Nissan did and sold them to holden for the VL, they made supercharged V6 later on down the track but not for very long, But with ford at least it was all their components Barra cast in Geelong plant etc, Still i love the VL Because im a huge Skyline fan lol. the Calais flip up lip on the lights and the only good looking two tone commodore ever made
Every VL Turbo seems to be a BT1... And if it was painted Mink, why is it now painted Butternut? If it was originally a Mink BT1, it was more likely to have been a Detectives car than a Highway patrol car (which genuine Butternut coloured BT1's were), so the lights, sirens etc wouldn't be the correct ones. Something aint right here anyways...
I swear he almost said, "It's fully sick, mate." LOL.
Why did the wog die ?
He was fully sick.
Excellent work
My first car 88 vl Commodore, one tone white with blue velour trim.. Still think about that car 22yrs later

Why change to yellow when it's 1 in a database of 4000 in mink?
What’s the mink reference for? Has the car been resprayed yellow or am I tripping?

Holden used a Nissan engine when it came out as they stopped the V8 for a short time .
