He is smart enough to crack the code of a super computer in some seconds ( sonic adventure 2) so what do you think about repairing and upgrading a plane ?
Xnug3n Actually, if you look up or down when riding the elevators in Sonic 2, you trick out the screen... Ergo, it's not the elevator that's going fast, it's the screen that does a double take and still cannot make up its mind on what's going on.
whats that shield on act 2 boss? ... just a blue circle :S, very fast though well done ;) - i wonder how fast u could do it all the way through at normal speed (not slowed down), i'd say under 40minutes not TAS is good :D
While I won't credit this as a legitimate speed run because of Tool Assisting, it doesn't take away from how fun it was to watch this. Thumbs up, thanks for the entertainment.
Watching this I realized a couple of things: 1) Casino night was/is still my favorite board 2) Tails was ANNOYING, you could hear him get killed constantly in the background just no earthly good. Just fly the airplane at the end and come and get me after I beat Robotnik. It took me MONTHS to do what you did in 20 minutes, thanks for the memories. Great game!!!
8:45-9:10 NOW, THATS WHAT I CALL A TEAM ACTION RACE! And Sonic & Tails are REAL damn good of sticking together as a team, no matter what the dangers ahead for their adventure!
Chemical Plant Boss, Oil Ocean and Metropolis got me pissed off in this video. Jesus, you took like, 2 minutes more or so to pass all 3 Metropolis acts? I used to die there because I spent 10 minutes trying to find the exit... goddamn...
First off: People do speedruns because it's a nice challenge, it gives you additional replay value. Most (all) runners have already played, and enjoyed, the game "normally". This is step two. Also, try to read the movie description to find out how the run was made. There's no hacking/cheating involved. He doesn't die because he choosed not to, as it would be slower to do in this Tool Assisted Speedrun.
The point of a TAS is to find out how fast a game can be beaten when every single input is perfected. It's a way to push the game to its limits instead of the limits of the player. Everything done in the TAS would work the same on console if the same input would be used. You aren't using any cheat codes or such for these types of runs. It's all meant for entertainment rather than skill.
Wow, thanks for the compliment. I also enjoyed Generations; I think it had the potential to be better, but it was at least a solid Sonic game. I never played Unleashed, so I have no opinion of it.
Oh crap, until you said something, I had totally forgotten about Sonic 4 entirely; which is funny because I was pumped for it's release. Procrastination is really somethin' isn't it? Well anyway, I'll be sure to get them both now that you reminded me. btw. do you use computer emulators?
This was my childhood =D Me and my sis had so much fun playing this, could never complete it =( Got to the bit when you were on the massive plane thing.
It means the run was recorded on an emulator. Where you use a tool called Frame Advance to record the input frame by frame (60 frames/second for this game) for the entire run. You also use Save States to undo mistakes and such. So the run is made by a human, though you use those tools to find out how fast a game can be beaten in theory when everything is perfected. You can find more information by following the link in the description. Or ask me and I'll gladly help out.
This is the first vid I ever watched on youtube Watched it in 2007 and I was 6! Damn 7 years ago, back when life was better(my opinion) And no im not to "young" to be here cause you have to be 13+ to have an account
After few minutes of this video : "And that's how you should play, so from now on That's how you play!" I think that's the accurate speed for a sonic game...i play that way myself now and i think it's pleasante (i'm not as good because i'm not doing TAS though...). Love the "remix" they made at the end of the game. Good job rogue, too bad it's 240 p :(
Yeah I agree, Spinball's not that great, it's not the worst, but I just don't have a burning desire to play it anytime soon. Wait, you like Sonic R? Do you legit like it or is it a "so bad it's good" type of thing?
Oh and btw...congrats for actually making an original hate comment I actually chuckled at how daft it sounds so GG for that, you could always admit im right too and save yourself the humiliation multiple times and save a lot of time that im sure you haven't got too
idk bout you guys but i think the instant max speed spin dash is kinda illegitimate. i understand this is a TAS but that just kinda breaks the rules and allows you to do so many things you couldn't otherwise.
You should watch some of Werster's runs; he uses several more glitches that would make this run even faster, particularly in Metropolis Zone Acts 2 and 3.
I agree. I don't think TAS really takes that much skill. It just assists the player to his/her liking and lets them do what they want with little pressure from the game.
A TAS is a different category of speedrunning with a different method on how you make it. No cheats are used however. The save states and slow motion is to simulate a perfect human player: Save states to overcome the human error and slow motion to match reflexes. It's a test of the game's limits instead of the player's limits. Gameplay skill is not needed to make a TAS, which has never been the point. It does takes a different type of skill however and doing this is not easy.
I feel like this is how Sonic should get past all of the stages in the Sonic games, with immense speed and agility. Except for the part where he teleports to Robotnik in Oil Ocean...or when he glitches through the floor in metropolis...
Yeah, I agree that TAS should have been in the title to avoid confusion. People normally don't know what a TAS is anyway, so they would still be forced to read the description.
Ya me extrañaba que un ser humano pudiese hacer eso sin "trampas" jaja, la perfección no exisite... gracias por la aclaración, voy a buscar algo de TAS con otros juegos a ver lo que encuentro ;)
Animals: Sonic! Eggman is going to turn us into robots again!
Sonic: Give me 20 minutes.
Lol
the very first youtube video I ever saw back in 2006
That how I discover the classic series of sonic
Me too lmao
I discovered the classic trilogy from the backbone emulations for the Sega vintage collection on the Xbox 360
Never mind the speed at which this guy completed the game, what's truly impressive is how quickly Tails managed to land and repair his plane.
He is smart enough to crack the code of a super computer in some seconds ( sonic adventure 2) so what do you think about repairing and upgrading a plane ?
The speed is not normal. The game is not this fast. I mean, elevators so fast they go off the screen, forget it.
A. Ahmou
I think that cracking codes isn't in the least bit comparable to landing, repairing, upgrading and lifting off with a plane.
Xnug3n
Actually, if you look up or down when riding the elevators in Sonic 2, you trick out the screen... Ergo, it's not the elevator that's going fast, it's the screen that does a double take and still cannot make up its mind on what's going on.
GrahamChapman It is true unless he repaired it when he was flying, but that's nearly impossible.
my childhood resumed in 20 minutes
Metropolis Zone Act 1 : Under 1 minute
Me: Above 5 Minutes
This was the most entertaining TAS speedrun I've ever seen. I just loved the little antics that you did at the endings and just all around. Well done!
He was that fast during Chemical Plant Zone 2 that he got to the end before the water even appeared on the screen. XD
lol nope water
whats that shield on act 2 boss? ... just a blue circle :S, very fast though well done ;) - i wonder how fast u could do it all the way through at normal speed (not slowed down), i'd say under 40minutes not TAS is good :D
4 likes and 0 comments let me fix that also that's a blue shield
Thanx for lower time TASes existing, way more exciting stuff to watch :D
This is godly.
lol rogie
Gotta go fast.
As it is a Tool Assisted Speedrun, there is a description you know =), the run was made frame frame and with save states on an emulator.
Sonic: saves world in 20 minutes
Just a day in the life of the world's fastest hedgehog.
Nice job piecing it together. Oil Ocean disappointed me.
How Did It Disappoint You? He Went So Fast!
what emulator do u use and how do u slow it down?
idk
Genesis
Sonic: OOOOOOOOH YEAAAAAAAH! GOTTA GO FAST!!
Title: Sky Chase Zone
Sonic: FUCK!
i had a dream we watched this in a movie theater
Ok? I think I have dreamt about watching sonic 2 on TV before.
@@Animebrity. What do you mean? What's your problem?
@@bangerbangerbro im sorry
@@Animebrity. I was just sharing a similar experience.
@@bangerbangerbro sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you.i was wondering what the "ok?" meant
I absolutely love watching TAS runs
2:43 too fast
While I won't credit this as a legitimate speed run because of Tool Assisting, it doesn't take away from how fun it was to watch this.
Thumbs up, thanks for the entertainment.
This guy outran the screen so many times I completely lost track how many tricks he did in game LOL
well they don't call him sonic for nothing x3
***** Why Eggman is faster than Sonic?
But Sonic is "the fastest thing alive".
“With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”
This Guy: Is That A Challenge
9:01 a mistake?
No. Have to jump on spikes to pass the bridge
obviously hacked game
Obviously you can't read movie descriptions. Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about.
then how come the death egg explodes animals
P51FIGHTERBIRD lol ikr
Its a tool assisted speedrun, all facts point to this and nothing else so do everyone a favour and GTFO
hellolik myballz tits or GTFO
The way you just destroyed the final boss... In all my years of playing Sonic, I never thought of even trying that lol. Great job :)
This guy must cheat .. this is impossible.
any real gamer will tell you tool assisted = cheat.
Very impressive. I've never seen those Acts completed so quickly!
You are having fun doing this. The times when you open the capsule prove it. I like you.
A McGee tell that to tails in mystic cave 2 at dr robotnik
Definitely the best longplay footage of this game I've seen. It's nice getting to see this game get it's ass handed to it.
I think sometimes we just need to stop for a moment and watch a Sonic speedrun.
Damn!!! I've never seen anyone play and beat Sonic this fast. One word. Amazing.
Finally running at his true speed.
As someone who has completed Sonic 2 and Knuckles and Sonic 2, I find this MIND-BLOWING!
Man, Sonic 2 was the best game to play co-op on. So much nostalgia right now.
some crazy ass work on metropolis omg!! awesome!! you were goin as fast as the little spike in the air xD
This game brings back so many memories. I grew up playing this in middle school/highschool. Tails saved you in Mystic Cave 2.
8:45-9:10 NOW, THATS WHAT I CALL A TEAM ACTION RACE! And Sonic & Tails are REAL damn good of sticking together as a team, no matter what the dangers ahead for their adventure!
11:34 why would you even right code for that? I guess they saw the speedruns coming.
That happy moment when it finally takes him more than a minute to complete a stage lol
Great job
Chemical Plant Boss, Oil Ocean and Metropolis got me pissed off in this video. Jesus, you took like, 2 minutes more or so to pass all 3 Metropolis acts? I used to die there because I spent 10 minutes trying to find the exit... goddamn...
Ahh yes the nostalgia of watching this speed runs back in the day
Coolest levels to watch IMO was Oil Ocean because I didn't know you could do that and Metrapolis for the quick-reflex like acrobatics!
Wow you did most of the zones in less than 30 SECONDS WOOT THAT'S SO AWESOME
AWESOME TAS. Great job :D, really really fast :p
First off: People do speedruns because it's a nice challenge, it gives you additional replay value. Most (all) runners have already played, and enjoyed, the game "normally". This is step two.

Just watched your speed run through the first one. MAN! your a beast! i struggled on metropolis zone. the only one i had a hard time getting through
There is a link in the description already. It has all the information you need about TASing and where to find the emulators.
i could never get my timing rite nor find as many glitchs. u did great. props 2 ya.
2:43
Dear god, sonic is going faster than BLAST PROCESSING ITSELF.
The point of a TAS is to find out how fast a game can be beaten when every single input is perfected. It's a way to push the game to its limits instead of the limits of the player.

I can't believe this was uploaded 14 years ago... I was literally 3 years old 😭😳
Seeing the Mystic Cave zone completed in less than a minute really rustled my jimmies.
Oh crap, until you said something, I had totally forgotten about Sonic 4 entirely; which is funny because I was pumped for it's release. Procrastination is really somethin' isn't it? Well anyway, I'll be sure to get them both now that you reminded me.
btw. do you use computer emulators?
after this I wonder who is faster modern sonic or classic sonic?
OMG...the memories. I'm smiling so wide right now :[)
This was my childhood =D Me and my sis had so much fun playing this, could never complete it =( Got to the bit when you were on the massive plane thing.

I love how explosions in the Death Egg Zone are glitched chickens and pigs. XD
is it actually possible to beat oil ocean zone like this on the sega genesis?
7:07 Haha you fucked up! 7:08 Ohh I see... -_-
Aquatic Ruin! One of the best songs from videogames
love how the camera cant even keep up. truly sonic embodied!
What the heck? Was 9:01 an accident?? in a TAS?
omg :D this deserves to be watched in fullscreen
This is the first vid I ever watched on youtube
Watched it in 2007 and I was 6!
Damn 7 years ago, back when life was better(my opinion)
And no im not to "young" to be here cause you have to be 13+ to have an account
same dude!
oh man you're gonna look back on this one day and be like Wtf
+Sonic Wyvern como baixar sonic3 paseula
Whoa-! That Super-Jump at 2:40 at the Chemical Plant Zone? Beating it in 28 seconds? Mind *Blown*!
Fastforward 20 years, and guess what?
He's still awesome.
After few minutes of this video : "And that's how you should play, so from now on That's how you play!"
I think that's the accurate speed for a sonic game...i play that way myself now and i think it's pleasante (i'm not as good because i'm not doing TAS though...).
Love the "remix" they made at the end of the game.
Good job rogue, too bad it's 240 p :(
Agreed, the emerald hill zone music inspired me to be a trumpet player.
The point is to entertain by playing the game as fast as possible. If you don't like it, well, it's the internet. No one's forcing you to watch a TAS.
i never get tired of this
Yeah I agree, Spinball's not that great, it's not the worst, but I just don't have a burning desire to play it anytime soon. Wait, you like Sonic R? Do you legit like it or is it a "so bad it's good" type of thing?
is this done in parts or did this guy do the whole thing at once??? damn this guys good
It's actually one person who is controlling both characters. Also check the description to find out how it was done.
To find out the limits of the game. To see how fast it can be beaten with 100% perfection. And to me it's a very fun progress to reach that level.
how do you do the part at the end where you managed to stay behind giant robo robotnik?
Oh and btw...congrats for actually making an original hate comment I actually chuckled at how daft it sounds so GG for that, you could always admit im right too and save yourself the humiliation multiple times and save a lot of time that im sure you haven't got too
i believe this is a good representation of how fast sonic should be in his games
idk bout you guys but i think the instant max speed spin dash is kinda illegitimate. i understand this is a TAS but that just kinda breaks the rules and allows you to do so many things you couldn't otherwise.
Man, this brings back good memories
What the hell happened at hill top zone act 1 where you glitched throughout that entire part of the level
You should watch some of Werster's runs; he uses several more glitches that would make this run even faster, particularly in Metropolis Zone Acts 2 and 3.
7:08 - Did he glitch through that wall down there, or did is that really there?
You are a gifted sonic player.
8:44 - 9:11 in sync, best part of the run imo
I agree. I don't think TAS really takes that much skill. It just assists the player to his/her liking and lets them do what they want with little pressure from the game.
the tails AI and you at the end of the level is hilarious.😂😂
I know, it was so fun utilizing sonic as a pinball and rarely getting the jackpot. And the lights..don't even get me started!
A TAS is a different category of speedrunning with a different method on how you make it. No cheats are used however. The save states and slow motion is to simulate a perfect human player: Save states to overcome the human error and slow motion to match reflexes.

Esto es algo increibleee!!
Felicidades. Saludos desde Panama.
I feel like this is how Sonic should get past all of the stages in the Sonic games, with immense speed and agility. Except for the part where he teleports to Robotnik in Oil Ocean...or when he glitches through the floor in metropolis...
1. They're rings
2. Of course, this is a fight to the finish and shows how good you really are to beat Robotnik.
May some one give me a list of different video game instrumentals?
i remember having this came when i was 12.brings back alot of memories
Then you would be incorrect. As this TAS was made frame by frame on an emulator by a human and not a bot that randomly tests input.
