I can't count how many times I've started the Chemical plant boss, only to die because tails somehow manages to land a hit and I phase through the boss into the pit.
it took me 2 days to complete chemical plant zone when i first played it but now i can complete it easily. it took me 4-5 hours to beat silver sonic in death egg zone but now i can beat it in like 16 seconds. all the levels are easy once you get used to them
I remember the first time I got to Metropolis Zone in Sonic 2 I thought those spinning copper mesh cylinders in the background and which you spiral through looked so real! And in Sky Chase Zone, robot turtles riding rocket turtles? AWESOME! Then that music in Wing Fortress Zone sounded so EPIC! Almost as epic as jumping onto the exterior of a rocket, hanging on for dear life, when the sky turns black and you realized you've reached orbit! Yeah, I was 11....

You saw how he had to repeat the same procedure twice, it was just straight up lost time. You always want to know what the best possible is; the real skill comes in stringing together enough best possibles and dont mess *anything* up and you just might have yourself a world record.
I don't remember what ad or sweepstakes I won this game on but, I waited MONTHS for it to arrive in the mail. It said 6-8 weeks. I gave up all hope. Then one day in an manila envelope was Sonic 2. God bless the 90's.
Bigcokeslushie722 In the Sonic 2 speedrun (should come up as a top result) The guy talks about the spin dash saying the quicker you charge and release the faster you go so the best speed runners can do 6 revs of a spin dash then release it they delay the release then the speed will decrease slightly
Metropolis 3 was amazing without pause buffering. I always pause buffer there. Oil Ocean 2 was normal, the spin roll at the end kinda scared me cause I do my roll a tiny tiny tiny bit after the certain music cue, but still very successful run. Great job
This was so cool and nostalgic, I remember finding little glitches when me and my siblings would play this incessantly because we had no other Genesis games haha
The thought of speedrunning Mystic Cave fills me with dread, whenever I got Super Sonic on that level it generally meant going too fast for the screen, then hearing tje death sound and catching up just in time to see the crusher / pit that got me.
This game plays so much smoother than Sonic 1. You get longer runways and less stops like Marble Zone, Springyard Zone and Labyrinth zone where you're waiting on platforms to jump on.
That was fucking Hilarious! Dr. egg-robot-man-nic couldn't even do anything before he explodes LOL XD that submarine one especially, gets half destroyed before he could even break surface LOL :D
5:05 I think thst sprite glitch happens when you hit Eggman as he's gonna hit the tower. He gets launched of the screen, and the explosion sprites only are now the animals. XD

He enters the launchers there after being pushed back from being hurt by the spikes. Sonic (and Tails) aren't supposed to enter things like those launchers while they're in their invincibility frames. A similar thing happens when you get hurt and the damage knocks you into one of the transport tubes in Chemical Plant Zone.
+Nick Keriazakos from what i remember, i didn't trigger the glitch by entering the launcher with sonic/tails in their invincibility frames. i thought it was just a case of going into that small gap on the right. maybe my memory is mistaken though, but i don't think my 7 year old self would have been smart enough to pull off that glitch reproducibly if it had to be done in precisely that way.
