Today we are putting the Sony A7iii up against the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra up against each other! I know it's like comparing apples and oranges but I wanted to see how far this smartphone technology has come. I've been creating a lot more with my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra lately, its freeing to be able to just pull out my phone and start recording the moment! The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has definitely become one of my favorite smartphone cameras especially with the 8k mode in the camera! The Sony A7iii is definitely a much bigger sensor that will obviously render out a better image, but that's expected from a camera with interchangeable lenses and a bigger sensor.
Being able to shoot with your phone and get footage that can be fit into your edit is great for your storytelling, at the end of the day story is king, and whatever it takes to get your story out whether its a Smartphone camera or an expensive mirrorless camera your story is king.

When hell lot of reviewers are telling 8k on this phone is not useful at all, you clearely told why it is useful. I loved that part. The camera review of most reviewers are just non sense just telling shadows are missing, saturated, oversharped blah blah blah and they dont even know lot settings can be adjusted in a phone camera for better photos. Yours was interesting. I think more photographers must review camera technology on phones so that users can decide wisely. Nice job !
Hey Arun thanks so much for watching 🙏 and yes I do notice that a lot of the tech youtuber community, while they know a lot on the specs and hardware side of things, they are not as detailed on the camera side of things, these smartphone cameras are much more capable than "auto mode " and a lot of tech TH-camrs are basing their reviews of the camera based off that. Now that's not a bad thing because your average consumer doesn't know how to dial in settings on a camera and want to just pick up a camera and go, but I feel like it should go beyond that when reviewing a phone. That's why I just focused on the video side of things because it's what I do on a daily basis, I create video content. The 8k is really a great feature on this phone, it utilizes the sensor and gives you a great image. One of my favorite smartphone cameras to be honest. I have two other videos on this 20 ultra camera, I made a professional looking ad all on this phone 👍

I shot video for a paid client on my note 20 ultra as a b cam in an interview. They didn't notice the difference between it and my a7iii

@@Alex_Ochoa I had a little fill light, but with just natural lighting it blew my mind. Upgraded from the note 4. So nice to have a pro video mode again! Idk why they stripped it away in one of their updates

@@OaklynMediaLLC I'm about to upgrade from a Note 4 as well. Probably going with the Note 20 Ultra. I was waiting for the Iphone12 Pro Max but honestly, from the samples I've seen online and the flexibility and control, I think I prefer the Note 20 Ultra results.
@@Geotubest I am brand loyal to no phone manufacturer. It's not even the specs that I care about. What is important to me is how does the image look. I am not just saying this because I have a Note 20 Ultra. I prefer the image as a videographer on the Note 20 Ultra over the iPhone 12s
The Ultra is in a league of its own. I made a low light cinematic video and it's amazing what the phone could do.

The problem with all these high end phones and cameras is none of that 4k 8k tech is really supported by outlets like TH-cam etc so it’s a waste

It's a great phone!
Yes man, its just easy to carry your mobile than bringing your camera. Also both photos and videos are perfect on note 20 ultra. Have some heating issues while using camera for long time but its not an major issue to mention.
Yeah it's awesome to be able to get some nice footage from my phone, I've had the heating up a little when I film in 8k,but it doesn't affect the performance so I don't mind it.
ok first of all, i am not a pro. I know absolutely nothing about how to photograph or take videos. but similarly to reading I can use my common sense. comprehension skills so to speak. and what you presented to me in your wonderfully make presentation i personally thought that note did better then the Sony over all.

Pretty cool comparison & impressive footage. I have the Sony A6400 and Note 9. I bought the Note 20 Ultra but returned it. The battery wasn't too great & a lot of my pics came out blurry or oversoftened. Not sure if i got a faulty unit. Hopefully updates will improve.
I'm still trying to learn the menu system on my A6400. I have always owned Canon. Great video and thanks for sharing. 🙂
Hey! Thank you so much for watching! Ahh i wonder if you did get a faulty unit, so far i have gotten good battery life, i do know it takes about a week to settle in because the phone learns your usage and then optimizes. I have gotten around 8hrs screen on time in a day from it. As for the blurry pics thats weird as well, sometimes a dirty or smudged lens can cause blurry or oversoftened photos, or maybe could be a glitch in the camera. The A6400 is such a great camera, i have used it on shoots before as a B cam and it always impresses me, You'll get used to the menu system, it can be a bit confusing at first.
I'm having a problem when I'm recording a person at about 20 feet away its always trying to stay in focus. Any suggestions on something I'm missing

Yeah i dont believe phones will ever replace cameras but they will close enough eventually to become a great tool to help with b cam shots or anything like that. Cant beat the depth of field you get from a full frame sensor =]

I could be biased because I have the Note 20 Ultra but it holds it own against a professional camera. That's damn good for a cellphone

to do the blur you have to use live focus video, the large camera sensor is no longer needed.
It's not as natural though, I prefer the larger sensor 👌

I don't know what would possess you to keep switching the order of the devices in the side by side comparison shots. It's not edgy, it's not cool, it's just plain annoying. Instead of me being able to keep my eyes on the comparison, I gotta allow time to glance down to see which device is on each side. Either that or I end up rewinding the video. Also a lot of TH-camrs that make these sort of comparison videos forget that most of their audience are not professional photographers or cameramen and make the comparison clips way too short. Photos can be paused, to compare video clips you don't real pause and compare frame by frame. Otherwise, I like the idea of this video. Every other Note20 Ultra camera comparison video out there is comparing it to other phone camera shooters.
Lol why would I try and be "edgy" in a comparison video, I wasn't trying to do that, I was switching it to keep your eyes fresh as to what clips are from what camera and to see if you can tell the difference. It looks like it worked because you couldn't tell the difference between the two 🤷♂️thanks for the feedback though and thanks for watching
