Sorry to say this one will go straight to the review as the video has vanished off the youtube system, checked the upload and it was there so erased it from my system then went to add a schedule to the video and it was gone so was not happy at all...

Aww mate you must be gutted! Well lesson learned, keep all your files until your sure everything has uploaded ok, even then keep a copy for backup sake. Ive been a computer administrator for over 30 years and you wont believe how many times ive erased important files thinking i was finished with them only to need them 2 minutes later! lol

Finally, my Sweet Newkie Brown is ready. So much better than when bottled. Good head that stays to end of pint. Really nice. Not as good as “The One and Only” used to be when it was brewed in Newcastle but not as much of a difference as there is between original Newcastle brew and the Tadcaster brew. I would be quite pleased if I was served that in any bar. Different to the Northumberland one by brewmaster (which is still worth trying) but nicer and much closer to how it used to be. Did you know they made a Newcastle Amber Ale? I think didn’t last very long and I think once again a Tadcaster brew (Not sure about that). Did you ever see or try it?

Not tried the tadcaster or Amber ale, but next time I am up north I will have a look for it as I should be going up there in the next few months. I do love my sweet Newkie brown but the original is allways the best, even though the home made brews are pretty good in there own right. I'm glad that yours has turned out so well and is good when the hard work is rewarded with a great brew, Cheers richard :)

There is no “Tadcaster Ale”. It’s where “Heineken UK” make Newcastle Brown Ale now since the demise of the Newcastle Breweries. “Vaux” was the fist to go in the North East then the”Fedaration” brewery closed in Newcastle too. Not sure if the “Castle Eden” one is still going. It was closed in 2002 but there were reports in the paper about it re-opening. One of their best beers is/was Double Maxim. A lovely strong pint.

Just looked it and found that the castle even brewery is now called the maxim (after drunk maxim) in Houghton-le-Spring near Sunderland it brews some wards beers and Samson (used to be Vaux). Many ex-Vaux, ex-wards and ex- Newcastle Breweries staff work there keeping thes beers alive.

It's good when they keep these beers going and keep a part of the past in the present..

loving this channel mate, gave me the get up and go to start brewing and my first two have been great. I've just bought a Wilko Chocmeister Stout kit which looks good. I want to add a cherry flavour too. have you got any tips on extracts or do i use fresh cherries?

Nice one John, glad you have tried it for yourself and it's all working out well, I was looking at the new Wilko range of beers myself the other day and the do look pretty good to be fair so will try a few of them out myself I think. I would have a look at the range of flavours that are sold for liquors as the range is big and by all accounts are pretty good, that's what i would go for and add, good luck and let me know how it turns out, cheers John :)
