@Scotty Here in the UK our government hasn't reached their promise on EV chargers for 2023 😂 But like 90% of our motorway service stations do have 1 or more installed.
😊😊😊😊
Word is GM is still trying to figure out how to make the EVs leak oil.
What's crazy is ford and GM literally takes a piss on their customers and they do not care.
Shut up and take my $$🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
💀😭🤣🤣😭😭😭
Dealers would still be like: "bUt Oh ThAt'S nOrMaL"
😂😂
Give them time. They will figure it out.
Scotty is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs....
It's funny how we went from 70s cars built with metal to a mix of plastic became it was cheaper but the cost for us went up then they went to 90% plastic so cost to build cars came way down but the cost for us to buy them went way up and now they want us in EV's because its better but it's double the cost of a normal car, The worse the cars are the more they cost,
It has nothing to do with the type of car, its corporate greed.
Tem muito a ver com a agenda ambiental. Essa maldita farsa tocada por ambientalistas e militantes financiados por algumas pessoas que não tem na verdade preocupação nenhuma com o meio ambiente (e sim com os bolsos deles).
Chinese workers are being paid way more now. Ahahahahahah.

We love Scotty in Ontario, Canada! I tell everyone about him and not to buy a vehicle unless you check it out on YT with this adorable, bright and honest man!
Also watching Scotty from ON!
I remember how excited I was as a teenager to get behind the steering wheel, and now, people want to let the car do the driving for them? That's a crazy and dumb concept on so many levels. As a 66 yr old man, I still want to drive my own car.

I wonder if the useless engine beauty covers were designed to contain the engine heat? What do you say Scotty?

Eu támebm. Parabéns, Scott. Você presta um serviço de utilidade pública incrível e totalmente necessário, que infelizmente poucos estão dispostos a fazer.👏👏👏
When your engine begins to start harder and slower than normal, especially when it's colder outside, start looking for a new battery. It just happened to me. Starting was fine during the summer and on warm fall days but then became weak on cold days. My old battery was over 8 years old so I was pretty sure that was the problem. Installed a new Optima battery and now it fires right up.
I've got an '06 Chevy Colorado and l have swapped batteries to charge them many times while its running. Never had a problem with the computer.
I'm from Brazil, not a mechanic but I like a lot your work! Thanks...
Scotty,
Something I’ve noticed in your videos is that you’ll occasionally drop a line or two with some important information specifically about buying a new or used car like checking the country it’s made in (despite the external label). Do you think you could make a video or a spreadsheet/document centralizing a lot of these points? I saw you have made a few videos about buying new and used cars but they’re over 10 years old now and I can’t help but wonder how the automotive scene has changed since then.
Last summer there was hundreds of these self driving vehicles in san francisco driving around, i have to say didn't see one golng thought stop signs or red lights
Were you at every single stop 🛑 sign and red lights when all of the hundred or so of the Tesla’s crossed each of those intersections?
This channel is focused on older, gullible people that watch FOX news and dont want change lol. I still love Scotty though, but he has a clear bias against EV's and autonomy.
@@CrossWindsPatliberals you mean.
It doesn't destroy anything I test alternators all the time removing the battery terminal.
Imagine if Ford and GM put that ev money and effort into improving their ICE vehicles?
Why should GM woryy about money when they got a government bailout over $100 BILLION. They'll get another one.
That might depend on who is president when it happens
No they didn’t.

I must say I enjoy your content Scotty. My biggest worry about a electric car is if the battery goes bad it's major
new battery for EV costs $ 20,000.
might as well chunk / junk it, n get
a new(er) I.C.E. vehicle for that.
If? You mean when, which is generally no more than 65,000 miles.
I did a wet semi synthetic trans fluid and filter change @130k miles on my 1998 Sienna, installed a 3500lb hitch, added a 12"x12" cooler, and changed the radiator before I was forced to pull a U-Haul in an emergency rescue, moving contents of a house across South New Jersey. Thank God the land if flat as a pancake! I pulled at least 3X the 1000lb towing capacity 75 miles and 5 trips😂😂 My new Posi-quiet brakes were useless until I was 45mph or less and the fade was scary😮😂. 5 years passed and I have 170K mileage, and another set of MOOG control arms and ball joints now, and it shifts like new. 😃
GM is very aware that the government is going to bail them out. In other words Mr. Taxpayer will pick up the tab. Done it before!
Better yet change your transmission fluid on a regular basis. There are two schools of thought on this. Every time you change your oil you suck out a quart and put a new quart in. OR every 30,000 to 50,000 miles do a complete fluid and filter change. In a perfect world do both. people complain that is expensive but it is 10 times cheaper than replacing the transmission. (side note dodge and others are selling no maintained transmission, do not believe them. If you go look up the OEM manufacture schedule nothing has changed. They still need regular service.)
We went through a stage here n Sydney where cars were pumping out a Sulphur smell. Turns out the fuel being sourced from Asia was responsible.
I'm an old Kirby guy.. Rainbows better for asthma but the renovator attachments are unbeatable on the Kirby...and the Kirby has always had a dual winding motor...two speeds ...low speeds for the regular vac and highspeed for the hose and other attachments .. 180 fpm.. unbelievable and no other vac but a big shop vac has that power . So the electric cars ? Is it a dual wind motor for a Tesla or some other electric ...it's insane acceleration and I hope you can hang on cuz most people find the only tree in the county at 240mph
Hey Scotty, happy new year btw, WHAT IF the battery fails while we are driving in such a way that it results in an internal disconnection (the same electrical result as a disconnected cable) ? I suppose it could result in a destroyed computer too.... just wondering ???? I like your very informative videos !
It doesn't necessarily destroy the computers but it can vary from no noticeable effect (if the alternator regulation is REALLY good), to the car sputters or shuts off (voltage regulation bad but not terrible), or possibly damage to the computer(s) or sensors (voltage regulation is getting out of hand without the battery there to stabilize it). This happened on my Grand Prix and it landed in the "car sputters or shuts off" bin.
The longer the problem is allowed to persist, the higher the chances for worse effects.
That doesn't happen and it wouldn't fry the computers either.
The batteries are put in parallel such that if one of them connects like that breaks, then you'll just have slightly decreased power and range, like 1% lower
What IF the engine dies in such a way as to lead to a loss of power in the drivetrain and electrical systems.
🤔 Just makes you think
Scotty, I'd love to see you do a video on the Ford Model T. I like them and I think it's earned a spot as an antique highlight if you're able to make time for it!

Autonomous EVs are a total joke.
Totally agree.
Autonomous driving itself is a total joke. We have hands and feet so we could drive. Handicaps shouldn’t be driving. I have to laugh when Tesla claims “full self driving”, then says “well, you need hands in the wheel and foot on the pedal”…like isn’t that NOT self driving? Crazy.
You're the joke, EVs are the future with or without you
autonomous driving drives car into a wall, ditch, and/ or off a cliff.
@@driver4011 those issues will be completely resolved before it reaches the masses
We've already seen some EVs get bricked from OTA firmware updates. They are rolling computers. And just like computers and phones, can be royally screwed up by updates.
Good stuff Scotty.
I've said it many times. Mary Barra and the board of GM should be fired and replaced!
Love your tips and advice.
7:56 hey Scotty, i think he probably meant, why does his car idle rough AFTER I disconnect the battery. If thats the case, its because you reset all of your adaptive fuel values and the computer has to relearn them. Usually only takes a couple minutes idling to relearn

@scottykilmer I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport (in Colorado) with 211K miles that I bought for 4500K. Scotty, I have 2008 Chev Malibu 3.6l. I keep getting a P0017 code. Tried the cheaper options: changed Crank sensor, exhaust Cam sensor, and exhaust VVT Actuator. Cleared the code each time. The code remains off regardless of miles driven until next on/off key cycle. Then code comes back on. Car runs great, idles great, no misfires. I’m confused on what to do next. I’m afraid it’s something regarding the timing since I’ve read GM had issues in the past but that can get costly. Any thoughts or ideas on what to check next?
PS love your content!
Alright I know evs aren’t the favorite here but I do drive an EV and I like to drive and the safety features are cool but I don’t like having a car drive for me. I feel people who get anxious on the road use autopilot/similar software to take control, I get nervous around those drivers because you don’t know who’s driving
Hey Scott do you know how to reset the keyless entry code on a 2013 Ford escape?
Scotty enjoying a cup of coffee at 6:01 🙂
Once a battery gets older then 4 years old, you might consider replacing it.
How many modules are in an electric car & how much does it cost to replace battery?🤔
For those of you who don’t know how to tell how if it’s highway miles?! Look at the oil change or last service and the current miles. And the dates! If it’s putting 500-1000 miles bi weekly in city the car would run like crap most likely near dead even best kept wear out fast in city drives stop/go
Back in the day Scotty would have been ranting on Henry Ford. "This assembly line stuff is a waste! Give me a good horse and buggy any day!" 😅
Flex pipes are a dumb idea. They wear out and are expensive. My Chrysler uses a hollow ball joint. Works great for decades, cheap to make or replace.

This is a little off topic, but what's the deal with GM going in and closing up dealerships? We had a state of the art GM dealership in my area, which was a great place to go to buy an awesome service department, and it makes me wonder about the stability of GM ?
“General Motors bought out roughly half of Buick dealers across the U.S. due to their reluctance to sell electric vehicles as the automaker looks to transition to EVs. About half of GM's 2,000 Buick dealers accepted the voluntary buyout.Dec 21, 2023”
Not one of GM smartest moves….
OMG.. this might sound crazy. I just brought a 2019 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. From the local dealership in my area. They just recently remodeled their. 3 months ago. And now they’re closing down. !! I couldn’t believe it. It’s been there since the beginning of time. !! Big red flag. !!!!
GM just had a patent application for an engine with hemispherical cylinder head cavities rejected. Cars and trucks powered by it were to be batched “HEMI-POWERED”. Unfortunately, Belgian car maker Pipe beat GM to it in 1905…
Is there also a true gear for reverse on that Toyota CVT

Scotty: Talk to an aeronautical engineer about RTCA. It's RTCA, not the FAA that ensures aircraft safety, both h/w and s/w. It's a long story, but simply put, every line of code in an airliner undergoes independent verification and validation (IV&V). This is one reason why airliners are so safe. I asked a Tesla engineer, does you code undergo independent verification and validation? Answer was a sheepish, well... no. And cars, unlike airplanes, have to deal with pedestrians. Okay..
