Why doesn't Jeep offer this? - Coverking Topliner Upgrade for Hard Top Transformation

- Winter is here, and I’m transforming my Jeep Wrangler from summer mode to winter mode by swapping the soft top for the hard top. But I’m not stopping there-I’m upgrading with the Coverking Jeep Topliner, a premium headliner that completely covers the interior of the hard top for better insulation and noise reduction. This Topliner is a huge step up from Jeep's factory headliner option and delivers the quality Jeep should be offering straight from the factory.
In this video, I’ll show you:
The step-by-step installation process.
The final results and why this Topliner is worth the upgrade.
Quick Tip: Follow the recommended installation temperature and avoid windy conditions-it’ll save you a lot of trouble!
Whether you're prepping for winter or just want a quieter, better-insulated ride, this is the upgrade you didn’t know you needed. Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and don’t forget to like and subscribe for more Jeep upgrade content.

I agree with you Jeep should have had it on all higher trim levels
I agree jeep should offer it !!!!
That’s sick. Loooks way more like a 70k SUV. So good
11:56 Looks like you forgot to peal the tape backing off that left edge.
This is necessary too if you don’t have the mopar liner because the white gets scuffed easily
I may do this to with sound deadener under it first
That would probably work really well.
I covered it all with Canopus car sound deadening mats first, then put the CoverKing liner on top of that. It looks great and there is noticeably less road noise … but it took a VERY long time.
Looks very good and OEM. I added some reflecix between the areas above my head and it helped a bit with the heat as well.
nice brother!! ill do it to my 4xe for sure
Looks good. Love the Canadian perspective, eh. Wind and cold. Switching my top this weekend.
Nice idea was gonna linex mine..where did you get your rims at?
Rims are stock, I applied a vinyl to the face to make them black and have wheel spacers to fit the tires. Check out the video I did explaining the wheel set up th-cam.com/video/TRtKigFRUi0/w-d-xo.html
Great video. I’m just waiting for them to come out with Topliner for 2 doors.
Yeah I am not sure they ever will, I heard two years ago they were working on it but nothing yet.
@@evolvedjeepin I keep checking they website but still no 2 door Topliner. 🙁
Nice work. 👊🏽
Great instruction. I will do it on my jeep next week. What do you think about putting sound deadening products such as Kilmat first under coverking?
Don't see why you couldn't do that if you wanted.
do you think there will be enough space between hardtop and coverking? The dealership told me it will be very tight and almost no space for sound deadening@@evolvedjeepin
@@JeepWR-jk7pd I don't disagree with there comment, the covering is a tight molded liner, so if you were applying the sound deadening you would have to make sure it is pressed tight to the hardtop.
I have kilmat in mine and it fits perfectly. It is an extreme difference with temperature and noise. I bought the rollers for the kilmat install and used it on the liner when installed. I feel it helped.
Dam that looks great,What’s the fabric like?
It's a carpet liner.
Can we get an update on how this product worked out?
I put mine in back in October of 2020. I put it over the kilmat sound deadening. It is phenomenal!
@@tonybolte02 no peeling off or anything? Did you use extra double sided tape?
The kilmat has a peel backside. The coverking topcover has 3m double sided tape and a guide of where to place it. Only thing i should have done first was paint the edges and around the windows, about an inch wide. It will hide any trace of the white top.
@@tonybolte02 Thanks! I appreciate you sharing your experience and the tip
@tonybolte02 did you put tape over the killmat or did you just killmat everywhere the tape wasn't used? I'm about to do the same exact thing as you in a few weeks.
Did it make a significant difference in road / wind noise? It definitely looks better.
My jeep came with the Mopar one, so I am not sure how it compares to not having a headliner at all. I do feel that the Cover King Headliner is a bit better than the Mopar one.
How liner holding up? Need to get me one.
Unfortunately a year after having it I ended up getting a sky one touch hard top and sold it so I am not sure about how it did over time. But when I sold it it was pretty much new, the only thing I needed was better double sided tape.
What’s your thoughts on how good the headliner in hot and cold days ? Is there a difference.. or it just made interior look good?
Looks so good! I really love the mods you've done to your Wrangler.
Just looked this up and eBay has it for $359+ shipping. No brainer!
Thanks, it's much appreciated. Yeah that is a good deal definitely jump on that.
Did you consider doubling up by keeping the factory headliner under there as well or was that not a feasible option?
I don't think that they would work together
So how well does it buffer noise and moderate temperatures?
For sounds It is either the same or a bit better then the Mopar headliner. As for temperature, I noticed that the inside of the jeep is a lot warmer now.
@@evolvedjeepin Thanks!
@@evolvedjeepin ,e
yes it should have been a cj-now opportunity but sometimes/some people don't want extra carpet/pading/ect as there mud bogging/hardcore and having a top/interior that can be garden hosed off is a plus
on are 2006 we probably would have op'd for it as it's fully loaded and the softtop is the one we probably got used for mudding/offroad/rock-crawling ect ( and yes it's not just a mail-crawer and had water/mud up to the window's/glass ect ) and yes bare it's noticeable on sound and extra heat loss's and over-night sleeping/roadside-nap is miserable compared with say a cop-charger's as the roof is insulated way more ect
also some are cheapskates and don't want the extra features/fee's that comes from adding things like this paded-top
This should be standard looks great
Agreed, someone told me, they now offer it as an option
oh nice. I’ll have to check my dealer. I can’t ship to Canada it seems. Thanks 🙏
Did you measure sound level with a db meter, before and after?5
Unfortunately I did not, I thought about buying one but never did.
I didn’t see a follow up video on this - How’s that headliner holding up? Did it make a difference with noise? Are you having to maintain the tape?
Yeah I don't really have a follow up for you, mainly because I ended up selling my hardtop with the liner 1 year after installing it. At that time it was fine, it could have used better tape but it was holding the originally tape that I installed it with just fine. As for noise it was as good as the factory liners.
Nice! Do you know if this can be used on a 2024 model?
Honestly not sure, because they did some minor changes on the 22s.
Nice video
Did it help in the summer heat to keep cool?
Actually not sure because I switched over to a soft top for the summer, but I imagine it would.
do they have one for gladiator 2023?
I am not sure, I suggest checking their website.
Thinking about getting this for my JL when it comes in, appreciate this video! What’s the name of the song you used in the the first Timelapse?
😃It seems Jeep listened to you, they are offering that insulation option in the new 2025 models.
That's smart of them.
Does it block heat well? I live down south and I can feel the heat on my head when it sits outside for a while.
I believe it does, but I am not 100% sure as I removed the hardtop for the summer.
How is it during the winter?
Does it keep the heat inside?
It definitely helped keep heat inside and I felt that it did it better then the Mopar liner.
Can you put Velcro patches on it?
Probably could
But the sticky stuff is no guarantee to hold it up for a long time
Nice work and thanks for the detailed video. I just ordered mine and will be installing it this coming spring. Where did you buy the roll of extra double sided tape and what kind is it. Thanks again and happy holidays!
It was left over carpet tape that I had laying around. I am sure you can find some type of tape at your local hardware store.
Do the company stopped selling them?
No looks like they are still selling them.
They should come with Hotheads Headliners. Hotheads is top of the line.
I have actually heard a lot of good stuff about that brand, I'll have to check it out.
What are you doing with the mopar one ? 😅 I’ll take it ! Haha
Probably sell them.
This is cheaper than the Mopar Top Liner as you have better coverage with the Cover King insulation hard top liner.
Update? Is it sagging or holding up?
Unfortunately I ended up selling it because I switched to a skytop, so I am not sure how it is right now. I know that if you use good tape you will have no problem.
@@evolvedjeepin thanks man! I like the channel. I'm going to dynamat soundproof then add this . @jeepjeep303 I need to update my insta but you get the idea :) thumbs up
So if the mopar one better than this one?
Had the mopar one, this one covers the whole inside.
That liner looks good, no doubt. In your opinion, how does the liner perform with isolating sound and insulating as compared to the factory available liner? Thanks for the great video.
Disregard. I see that you've answered my question in the other comments. Thanks.
Why not use 3M spray on glue ?
That would work but would be very permanent.
Cold weather or not, that tape looked cheap. Is this a China product? They often come with low-grade tapes or 3M knock offs that don't hold up. So, it's been a year. Any updates? Any portions of the panels falling down from tape failure? I'd love to propose something like this to my son for his JL Rubicon, but I'm suspect of that tape. A tip could be to use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm the surfaces prior to tape install for better adhesion. Looked like you really struggled to get that tape to transfer. I would have loved to hear a before and after highway drive to compare interior noise levels.
Yeah the tape was definitely cheap, highly recommend using better brand name tape. I actually am not sure how the tape is holding up because I switch to the soft top for the summer.
I installed mine with included tape in Sept of 20 and it still holds like the day it was installed.
@@tonybolte02 Appreciate the testimony!
What sucks is JEEP doesn’t include a complete headline installment even when you custom order it … makes no sense!!!
Maybe Coverking code offer discount with your channel !!!
I wish!
Your Amazon link now prices it at $508.00
Yeah must have gone up in pricing.
430!?!?!??
Did my comment get deleted?
I didn't delete anything, what was your comment?
I would definitely get this, but they do not make it for the two door🤬
Yeah that sucks, says coming soon, but I think that has been that way for a while now.
Good install...the music is not necessary, and terrible. Thumb down
