To add to advanced Tip #6 with scoreboard tracking : Instead of memorizing each hero’s ult charge points, my tip here is to have each teammate track their matchup - I’m the Ana in this game, so I keep an eye out on their Ana and look at the time + the damage and healing done to estimate whether she has nano boost or not. Our DVa should keep an eye out for their Zarya’s damage, etc. Obviously it’ll get more difficult mid-game because you have to remember when the last ult was used and at what time/what their damage or healing number looked like and work backwards, doing some subtraction and math to figure out the difference but it’s not too hard as long as you have a big brain
It gets tricky when heroes are switching though. If they play DVa for a minute and switch to Rein they keep some Charge but some of it is killed off, so this is not super accurate
@@EdisArchive Good point, it's a bit less. All in all its to be used to ballpark when people have their ults. Before the scoreboard back in OW1 people develop a 6th sense and can generally tell when enemies are close to ulting.
My tip is if a fight hasn’t fully broken out yet and an enemy uses an ultimate early (like Kiriko) DONT GO TOWARD IT I can’t believe how many people I see who seem to take it as an invitation to start the fight. It’s okay to wait it out and make them waste it (if time allows)
Here's a tip that pertains to the training room: if you ever want to use something that requires you to take damage (such as zarya charge or checking self healing abilities), don't use the peashooters the bots have. Instead, set the hero near spawn to junkrat and kill him. He drops bombs on death dealing up to 300 damage, making for a MUCH quicker way to take damage.
HOW HAVE I NOT THOUGHT OF THAT?! Found it weird that you couldn't get doom's charged punch in the practice range, great tip bc it's not an obvious thing ty :)
Its so weird they have the peashooter bots and no option to like at least have the enemy bot fire rounds or have different levels of bots. Very good tip, will probably help to find more things to do with doom empowered punch
If you get booped off the map by Lucio, Ball etc., if you have an ability that can boop yourself, such as Soldier’s rockets, Zarya secondary or Sigma’s balls, you can boop yourself as you fall to your death, which overrides the kill credit and prevents the Lucio, Ball etc. from getting any ult charge
and if you play flanker absolutely learn the position of healthpacks rather than rely on healing from your supports. And if you're a healer playing with flankers don't give up position to heal your flankers way in the enemy backline unless you're kiriko or your whole team is diving. @@jimmyboe889 you can't compare mercy's guardian angel to kiriko's swift step + her wall climb passive, she can get in and outta sticky situations so much faster and safer. Too many mercy players die after using guardian angel to go from the enemy's backline to her team's, mercy's got good mobility, but you should never overestimate it.
Another tip is: after you score a teamkill or a quadruple with your team, don't go near their spawn to camp them (expecially in small maps like lijang), because you're literally in a place where the enemy team can easily group up and steamroll you while not taking damage thanks to their spawn. Don't be greedy, waiting for your opponent is almost always the best decision
This is what loses me by far the most games. I keep telling my teams not to do this, only to end up alone on the backline as support. I constantly have to overextend to at least try to save some of them, but it is almost hopeless when I see my team do it, because they will repeat it over and over.
It’s bad if you don’t know what you’re doing, but zoning is hardly a bad thing with some characters. Helps a lot those who dont have habit to look at killfeed telling them that you should back up, because you're the only one left, or that you should push to finish the last enemy.
I hope this reaches a lot of people bc I’m getting a ton of new players in my lobbies and I know it ain’t their fault the game is mixing skill levels all weird but it makes it really hard to have good games in solo rn
Yeah, I had to explain to my friend the whole concept of Zarya's bubbles and energy and he's probably played 30+ hours, just never tank and didn't realize how it worked
Bro this is good for me because I don’t want SBMM (Skill Based Matchmaking) in the game I would rather play quick play no SBMM than normal quick play. But I would like the game to have a toggle feature to enable or disable it.
The number 1 tip I have for OW2, especially for new players and people from OW1 who haven't played for a while, is to stop focusing on targeting tanks. Tanks are MUCH stronger in this game than ever before, so while in OW1 you could still pressure and kill them with good results, in OW2 unless they're wildly out of position or if they're not getting healing you're not likely to do much against them. When a teamfight breaks out, your priority should be the Supports and DPS. When you take them out, the tank will be a lot easier to finish off. For tip #10 I'd like to point out that while the Payload moves faster with more people on it, that might not result in you pushing it farther if your team all crowds around it. If you win a teamfight, choosing to leave only one person on the Payload and defensively holding an advance position far ahead of the Payload path can gain you more progress instead. A good example would be on King's Row. If you win point A, but everyone just stays on the Payload, the Defending team will respawn and will most likely be back by the time it reaches the first corner chokepoint, gaining only a very small amount of progress. On the other hand, if you leave one person on the Payload, the rest of your team could push up to the 5th or 6th corner ahead on the path and try to hold that. If you successfully do so, then the Payload can make it all the way to the second checkpoint if you win that fight! If you can't hold down that corner, you can just fall back and try to fight at the 4th corner, or the 3rd corner, etc. You'll still gain more progress that way. For tip #21, it's important to remember that while you should try to not die, don't make the mistake of being so afraid to die that you play completely passively and never make plays that put you at risk. There is no strategy or attack plan that doesn't carry the risk of dying, so if you feel that you're completely safe you're probably doing something wrong. Doing nothing useful will accomplish just as much as dying. This is really important for characters like Sombra, who can easily avoid dying by Translocating away to safety, but spending most of your gameplay teleporting away and running back is just as bad as dying and running back from spawn. You have to put yourself in the heat of battle and try to gain value for your team even if you might die. Don't confuse "avoiding dying" with "avoiding danger of all kinds" or else you might as well just sit in spawn all game.
Totally agree with leaving one person on the payload. I feel like it was sort of common in OW1 but not guaranteed to be the better option, but in OW2 it feels almost mandatory.
The tip on not dying really does require experience in game of the champions and how far u can go. You should be playing kind of on the verge of dying (50-75hp?) before backing out to safety. Ofc this depends on the mobility of the champion you play as.
For your advice on tip 10. I suggest leaving a Damage behind. I have gotten too many games that the entire team goes forward and I as a support have to stay behind to push it, which results in the team dying faster.
I just started yesterday, any tips on heros? I used to play a lot of movement shooters but how do I relearn to aim in a fast paced game like OW after getting used to tac shooters? Also as of now Reinhardt and Dva are the only character i was doing decent in
Some more tips: • If you see your team lost the team fight and you won't make it out alive, die fast so you don't get staggered and respawn with your team. • If you're playing DPS and already have your ult, stop trying to poke damage the enemy team in between fights if you can't one shot them, you're just going to be charging their healers ults instead and won't be helping yourself in any way. • If you're playing Zarya, Mei or Tracer against a D.Va, make sure you wait for her Defense Matrix to be used and use your ult right after she stops using DM, which has a 1 second cooldown before it can be used again. • Try to force out Bap's lamp, Zen Ult or Lúcio Ult before you commit Grav, Barrage, Blade, Blossom, or other ults that can be easily shut down by one of these abilities.
1:33 the only difference if I'm not mistaken is that baptiste's secondary fire doesn't collide with the skybox, so you could chuck it cross map if you wanted, but the lamp does. But that's a pretty extreme case which I'm not sure if it got changed in OW2
7:51 On a related note, if you've already lost the fight, then it's better to die fast than to stall as long as you can, especially on attack. The faster you die, the faster you'll respawn and regroup with the rest of your team. Stalling for an extended amount of time can easily cost your team an entire push. Also don't get clued to the objective. While capturing the objective is the main goal of the game, you can't do that if you lose the team fight. So once the fight breaks out, you should shift all your focus on killing the enemy team. Similarly on defense, don't panic and swarm the point just because the enemy is touching it. One player is enough to contest it and you want to hold on to a good position as long as possible. So let your tank contest it and keep shooting the enemy on the high ground.
My tip is to turn on the audio notifications for enemies and team mates dying. In the middle of a team fight it can make all the difference to hear the audio cues to make a quick decision on whether to back out or push on with the fight.
Tip 26. Explore maps that you aren't completely familiar with in friendly custom games. you might find some gems to give you an advantage that other players aren't familiar with.
@@renatoluis1173 well i'm pretty sure primary fire does produce self knockback - the only jump example i can remember is to get to the right side window on hanamura defense A
7:51 Tip number 21: As much as I agree with this it's not that simple in push maps. You can so easily stagger if you have a few people left in a lost fight. Instead fight around and the robot so they won't be able to move it and die quickly to regroup. I've seen so many times players running for so long when they are trying to regroup and end up staggering so much.
That applies to every mode, push is just especially bad since the objective is so mobile. I think a good rule for people to start with would be if you're getting hit on your retreat and no one else is around, just face the enemy and die quickly. With experience, you can better know when you're able to escape successfully, but its always safer to die early and respawn with your team.
@@blazethefaith No push is extremely punishing because you have to retreat to the direction where the robot is going so the whole team will absolutely hunt you down. However retreating from a fight in any other map is completely fine and very possible. However, if you are in a cp map and your team has it in control, at least die in the point to get some extra percentage. But yeah in push it's the most punishing thing to do to start retreating in a lost fight when it's like 2v4 for example in favor to the enemy
I would like to add that, if a JQ knife IS stuck on dva's mech, when she ults, calling back the knife will result in the mech stopping its run immediately!
Also it's really fun to pull characters off the map with. Perfect locations are control maps like ilios, Nepal and (The easiest to pull off) lijiang tower because hers is a pull not really a boop.
Another thing with 20 as well is that some health packs have also been moved, the health pack near the middle chokes on Llijang gardens are now near the wall instead of behind the rock for example. I think that's the only one ive noticed but there might be more of them
One tip I found useful is that you can ping highlighted enemies through walls. So if someone is revealed through a sombra hack, sonar arrow, or widow ult, and they're behind your teammates, it could be helpful to ping them to warn your team of flankers
The bit about valuing your life is so good! Learning this from Grubby in Heroes of the Storm really changed how I played the game in a big way. I started improving a lot faster and being more conscious of positioning and engagement timings.
7:29 cut back to me running around like a headless chicken in the new maps searching for the health packs xD I swear they're ALWAYS super faraway form where I am xD
@@jehhhGames as a lucio main I can promise this is why a good lucio stalling can be such a headache. Self heals + payload heals + being hard to hit (and now + the support passive if they can avoid being hit lol)
My tip is for some characters to use their ults as a blocking technique lets say a kiriko uses her kitsune and their gonna rush if you have a cassidy or hanzo or even a soldier their ults can be used to keep them from advancing their push it may not get you a play of the game but you know you saved the team
I'd add: Don't walk backwards as a tank without telling your team mates. You are supposed to eat damage for your team! This backwards walking killed me way too many times.
Never flame. Ever. We all get tempted to say something about another player lacking. Just don't. Even if you are right it will only hurt your chances of winning. (I must admit I fail to do this still). And a related tip is to focus on your own game. The only person you can control in the match is yourself. If you lose, so what, take the oppurtunity to improve from it. And this is a major lesson in life, dont get hung up on mistakes, learn from them. And when someone is flaming me I do my best to ignore it. I might mute them without engaging and continue to focus on the match.
As someone who plays Junkrat a lot. I have a bit of a personal tip when it comes to tip 21 "Die less." If you are playing Junkrat and know you are going to die. Don't run away. Run Towards the enemy team. Junkrat drops bombs when he dies and if the enemy is already low when they kill you. You have a chance to kill them when they kill you. In low gravity I was mine Jumping around and accidentally Jumped over the enemy team when a Widowmaker headshot me and killed me. It rained bombs on the enemy team and Killed like 2 of them.
16) shoot barriers through walls If a bold rein or brig is waiting right infront of your spawn and has his shield open and it's peaking through into your spawn you can damage his shield. Works the other way around as well, if they're still locked inside and pushing their shield out.
here's a tip, you can track when sombra translocates back by following the trail and direction she goes to. always be wary of where she puts her translocators because she always goes back when in low health. or destroy it when you can find it.
For OWL, you gotta watch 32 hours for all rewards. This means about 160 league tokens from watching, plus the 100 for watching 30 hours in the playoffs so 260. 260 is almost enough to buy the increased priced all star and mvp skins. Can you do videos on: 1. Explaining the custom settings for each hero 2. All locations of mega health packs (idea: show a map that has green crosses for mega healths and blue for mini healths)
Some of the specific hero guides that he's made in the past include a tip about custom settings, e.g. you should turn on backwards wall ride for Lucio.
Random tip that might be kinda useless, but if someone is revealed u can ping them through walls and with karq's tip of the sound/ icon being different for different percentages of health u can use that to confirm a chase if someone is low!
My favorite sound que is Widows heels when she's on top of a building that means its time to hug the wall or go inside the building.(I play A LOT of Zen)
Best overwatch2 tip that should be given to all people thinking about getting it is, not to buy it…go look for something better. There are many other games out there that are better or free to play like, warframes, destiny 2 , Gundam evolution, etc….
i used the coins i had from all the loot boxes i had saved up (which were all force opened for me-thanks blizzard) to buy one kiriko skin. now that my coins are gone, I'm not buying more
As a fellow support main: If your tank picks doomfist flame him whole match starting from spawn. Kidding. Just mute him cause he will jump in narnia and will spam you asking heals signal. Also if your tank will not pick doomfist remeber to endorse him for that.
Well the other day I found out the hard way that Zarya's grav can grab you from the other side of walls. Its been a year and a half of playing and ive never been pulled into a wall. But on the side of Ults. Learn the behaviors of the characters when they are going to ult. IE Reaper on high ground or trying to teleport into your backline. Is Cass trying to get behind on high ground. JR retreating behind a wall.
As much as I love OW, ppl will forever choose to be horrible lol. It becomes mind numbing, ppl don't change heroes when it's not working, ppl don't focus, ppl run away from heals, ppl don't support their tank
The tip for not moving the robot forward is good and bad. Because it stops them from touching sooner. But if they go ball and Lucio and manage to touch the point they end up having the bot closer and win in 1 fight
My tip is target the healers always before attacking the tank and damages let the others deal with them while you deal with the healers that's how I win 75% of my matches
A thing that every new player should do: if you are a healer try picking 1 good healer like baptiste-ana-mercy counts too because if both healers are like Lucio and zenyatta the team wouldn’t get enough healing to win so try having 1 strong and healer and the other one he chooses and try focusing on healing instead of damaging a lot
Question about tip 11: it's clear the robot doesn't move faster with more people when actively pushing but what about when running back to your barricade from the enemy barricade?
I dont think the bot moves faster ever with more people. Reason being that if it moved faster it would outrun you and then stop, and then move, and then stop. The bot only moves at the speed of a character.
If your team is losing the fight and you see the enemy team overinvesting with ults, just die to their ults and prevent them from farming ult charge off of you. I can't recollect how many players I've seen try to dodge 3 ults while half their team is dead, only to then get picked off 5 seconds later so they both stagger AND give ult charge to the enemy.
Yeah you have to link your Twitch/TH-cam account to your battle net so they can grant the rewards to your account. Instructions are here on the first page: overwatchleague.com/en-us/viewership-rewards-guide
One thing about playing your life: If you are trapped and know your team won't help soon, I wouldn't recommend prolonging your life unless you really think you can. Just go slightly more agressive, try to trade your life.

In the middle of a team fight it can make all the difference to hear the audio cues to make a quick decision on whether to back out or push on with the fight.
dooms punch needs to push back dva bomb
Add on to tip 7, I found it out in a game, junker queen’s jagged blade (the thrown knife) can stun a dva bomb
…why?
Tip 26. Explore maps that you aren't completely familiar with in friendly custom games. you might find some gems to give you an advantage that other players aren't familiar with.
Sigma's primary fire and rock can also be used for self mobility/rocket jumping (rock jumping?) and it's sick
O rly? Have to test this tonight
@@GoldenSkeeter it works but is incredibly niche lol
I dont think primary fire can make him rocket jump but the rock can be use but is pretty doodoo
@@renatoluis1173 well i'm pretty sure primary fire does produce self knockback - the only jump example i can remember is to get to the right side window on hanamura defense A
I wish more people heard the tip about not pushing the bot closer to the losing opponent close to the clock running out.
Oh, that's actually sick.
How do you ping? I can't seem to use the new system, only old commands
@@thejester1039 Gotta find it in the settings but it should be scroll wheel automatically I'm pretty sure.
@@thejester1039 try pressing the scroll button
The bit about valuing your life is so good! Learning this from Grubby in Heroes of the Storm really changed how I played the game in a big way. I started improving a lot faster and being more conscious of positioning and engagement timings.
Definitely not worth throwing your life away trying to rush in and save someone (most of the time) from death.
7:29 cut back to me running around like a headless chicken in the new maps searching for the health packs xD
I swear they're ALWAYS super faraway form where I am xD
God I wish I had this years ago when I was a new player. I played for probably a year and a half before finding out the payload healed you.
This game is literally just tf2 that gets updates
Payload = Best Support.
Bro you just told me something new and I have been playing for like 4 years without realising that
I have thousands of hours in OW. I was 30 seconds ago old when I found that out. XD
@@jehhhGames as a lucio main I can promise this is why a good lucio stalling can be such a headache. Self heals + payload heals + being hard to hit (and now + the support passive if they can avoid being hit lol)
These were actually really helpful. I never considered tracking ult’s through the scoreboard nor widows ult time. Thanks!
My team: *plays objective*
Me: *strategically AFK in spawn with calculator figuring out enemy players ult charges*
My tip is for some characters to use their ults as a blocking technique lets say a kiriko uses her kitsune and their gonna rush if you have a cassidy or hanzo or even a soldier their ults can be used to keep them from advancing their push it may not get you a play of the game but you know you saved the team
Yesss! Sojourn's disruption bubble works there super good, too - with a shorter cooldown than an ult.
Cassidy?
Add-on to the widow ult, if you kill her while it’s active it shuts off.
no shit
@@MikfinityPog you say no shit, but a lot of players don’t know. There isn’t a notification saying anything unless you play Sombra.
Tip number #26 : Make sure to play DPS Moira so we can get more funny memes about it on Twitter XD
People legit do this with out tryna be funny smh 🤦♂️
i see so many moira 1v1 with both using dmg orb it cracks me up
Ping the widow after you get headshot to help your team find her
I'd add: Don't walk backwards as a tank without telling your team mates. You are supposed to eat damage for your team!
This backwards walking killed me way too many times.
Me: how is math gonna help me irl🤨
Teachers: 3:22
Easily best tip: Stagger enemy respawn times. Each staggered enemy respawn can increase your chances to win substancially
I actually learned a lot for a veteran player. Thanks!
This video should be mandatory to watch before playing comp
8:52 avoid being WHAT!?
Stopping the push on the robot near the end of the match is incredibly big brained. GG
I got mine from master_assist18 he’s legit
He’s page is on instagram
I've been playing since this month's launch and still learned a handful of new info from this video. Thanks so much for sharing!
16) shoot barriers through walls
If a bold rein or brig is waiting right infront of your spawn and has his shield open and it's peaking through into your spawn you can damage his shield.
Works the other way around as well, if they're still locked inside and pushing their shield out.
It's my first time watching your channel and I really like it keep up the good work 😊
you can also rein charge dvas mech if she launches it. I discovered that one by accident and saved a lot of lives
Da king is back baby he neva miss
here's a tip, you can track when sombra translocates back by following the trail and direction she goes to. always be wary of where she puts her translocators because she always goes back when in low health. or destroy it when you can find it.
Number 1 and 4 sound so basic and yet they blowed my mind, good stuff man!
Also, will definitely take a look at the custom settings for each hero.
KarQ never disappoints us with his amazing new vids!
perfect timing ngl!
@@youhaveuglytaste Yessir
3:25 I refuse to believe that you actually do this
I did not expect to learn anything new from this video but the Zarya and Sojourn glowing tips was news to me.
All the stuff I wish I knew from the start. Had to learn all this crap the hard way.
For OWL, you gotta watch 32 hours for all rewards. This means about 160 league tokens from watching, plus the 100 for watching 30 hours in the playoffs so 260. 260 is almost enough to buy the increased priced all star and mvp skins. So this will be particularly helpful. I have 145 rn, so the 260 added is 405 for me to have at the end.
"Die less" thanks sherlock
We hope to see you all during the playoffs and Grand Finals! ❤

@Hayes White The League is sponsoring this vid, all gucci bro. They dropping 30+ skins n stuff for watching the playoffs / Grand Finals
@KarQ but the skins are just in game advertisements for overwatch league
@@IllegalPizza777 So?
There were so many in here I didn't know even after five years of Overwatch 1! I don't play Bap but I want to now, just to put the window on the payload
0:41 If I knew the dance party emote will just be given for free, I would have never bought it before the game becomes OW2..
Anyway, I really hope more newbies see this video because they really need it since I see a lot of them that don't even bother trying to learn the game mechanics or what each hero can do.
Kar: tops to get better
Also Kar: doesn't explain a single acronym across the whole wasted time of space
2:45 Marblr did an amazing video covering an in-depth breakdown of this topic and all the point values, too
Didnt really need this but thank you for informing the community its great
Can you do videos on:
1. Explaining the custom settings for each hero
2. All locations of mega health packs (idea: show a map that has green crosses for mega healths and blue for mini healths)
Some of the specific hero guides that he's made in the past include a tip about custom settings, e.g. you should turn on backwards wall ride for Lucio.
Or get into a custom game and just run around and explore the map lol. You'll get a better sense of it that way anyways.
@@erickim1739 sure, but that doesn’t sound like fun 🥹
@@Steph1 haha to each their own. I had fun exploring all the new maps for sure.
Man... this really helped me as a biggener thanks.
Always good content! I’ve been directing a lot of new players to your channel since there’s A LOT of misinformation going around on tiktok

2:52 you can also search up Marblr’s entertaing video about ultimate charge
i used the coins i had from all the loot boxes i had saved up (which were all force opened for me-thanks blizzard) to buy one kiriko skin. now that my coins are gone, I'm not buying more
As a fellow support main:
If your tank picks doomfist flame him whole match starting from spawn.
Kidding. Just mute him cause he will jump in narnia and will spam you asking heals signal.
Also if your tank will not pick doomfist remeber to endorse him for that.
7:09 on Watchpoint Gibraltar, that jump he did can be done with just sprint, it doesn't require a rocket jump.
Damn, been playing since OW1 launch and still didn't know a bunch of these.
Tip 12 sounds broken but simple and easy.
Thanks. I'll try that.
3:20
Every single damn student alive: finally I can use my quick mental math that my teacher forced me to learn for something useful
This. I main Zenny and I can't tell you how many ppl will choose lucio just cause he's fun and we get shit on with no healing
Superb! Really achievable helpful stuff.
Question about tip 11: it's clear the robot doesn't move faster with more people when actively pushing but what about when running back to your barricade from the enemy barricade?
abit faster not much a step or two faster not much of a gain unless you have a decent comp/group
I dont think the bot moves faster ever with more people. Reason being that if it moved faster it would outrun you and then stop, and then move, and then stop.
The bot only moves at the speed of a character.
Ok, that bap window is not what I expected at all!!
Regarding the finals, do I have to log in to my blizzard account to somehow get these "rewards"? Could someone explain me how it actually works
Yeah you have to link your Twitch/TH-cam account to your battle net so they can grant the rewards to your account. Instructions are here on the first page: overwatchleague.com/en-us/viewership-rewards-guide
not pushing the bot if youre ahead is actually big brained
This counting/calculating ult charge is by far the nerdiest thing I've seen. Love it :)
Doesn't really help though if your enemies are switching heroes a lot...
Quake Arena things.
Thank you for making it easy to digest
Wow, those were really good tips for new players (like me) that I can actually use immediately. Thanks KarQ.
One thing about playing your life:
If you are trapped and know your team won't help soon, I wouldn't recommend prolonging your life unless you really think you can. Just go slightly more agressive, try to trade your life.
and if you use widow ult you cant be pushed, hook, pinned or stun until ult ends
Don't go out the main door on attack maps. On point maps, the fastest way isn't always the best.
5:19 Learned that one the hard way :(
2:16😂omg i had no idea you could do that
Karq, you are one of, if not, THE overwatch TH-camr. Talk about the monetization issues.
That pulse pistol name card is dope. If i knew about them rewards i would of forsure put my phone on silent and walked away for it!
6:54 junkrat can boost himself too with his bombs
Yaaay. I love to see more in game items gated behind out of game content. Effin wonderful.
